USB Modem - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Hi all
Please forgive my ignorance, but I've a few questions about setting up my USB Modem from my laptop to my XDA II.
Firstly, when yall talk about disabling ActiveSynch, what exactly do you mean (do you just uncheck the USB option in connections in ActtiveSynch on the laptop?).
Secondly, I've downloaded the zip file from my-xda.com yet when I try to install the modem it doesn't show any devices within the .inf file.... so I can't proceed.
Thanks for your assiatance.

Thank you for your inquiry
I see how this can be frustrating, especially since you've had to reinstall Activesync on your computer time and time again. The drivers for this device are actually a part of the Activesync installation.
There are a few things that we can do to resolve this issue. What I would recommend is first on the handheld go to Start, from there select Programs, from there select the Activesync application. Once the application is opened go to Menu, then select Options. Once the Options screen opens up you should see any pre-existing Activesync connections. Please select any connections that you see and delete them.
Once that has been completed on your handheld please go to Start, then select Programs, from there select Accessories. From the following set of options select USB to PC. Once this is open if you see that Serial is selected please change it to RNDIS. If you see that RNDIS is selected please change it to Serial.
After this has been done we will need to uninstall the Activesync software one final time. One thing to note is after uninstalling the software you would also need to delete the associated folders. This can be done by going to the My Computer icon on your desktop, from there you would select Local Drive C:, then select the Programs Files folder. Once this folder is open look for a folder that reads Microsoft Activesync. Once your located it please delete it. Also empty it from your Recycling Bin.
Once you've done that please download and install Activesync 4.5. This can be downloaded by going to www.pocketpc.com. From this site please type in Activesync 4.5 in the search windows on the top right hand side of the page. The first search result should be the download.
After you have installed this software on your computer you should be fine.
Also remember to check www.htcwiki.com for troubleshooting information in the future when having issues in the future.

1. alright so for people who have problems with odin
a. device not recognized. try reinstalling drivers and if on xp try to update.
b. if flashing process suddenly stops try to use same cable phone came with (for some odd reason it works only with samsung fascinate cables in my experience)
c. if a flash goes wrong. try to get into download mode, use usb jig, try to plug into wall, try car, different cables.
to use odin (hold down button on phone while connected after installing drivers herehttp://www.mediafire.com/?7946i8tdbe0yv50 )download package you want. look at screenshot itll look like that
connect your phone hit PDA and select what package u want.
then check repartition and use atlas pit v22
get this at second link
2. if that doesnt work try heimdall.
ill give a quick tut on how to use it.
first download it http://dl.dropbox.com/u/38077105/heimdall recovery.zip
extract zip to where u want
1. Put your fascinate into download mode and plug it in.
a. Run zadig.exe included in the Drivers subdirectory.
b. From the menu chose Options -> List All Devices.
c. From the USB Device list chose "Samsung USB Composite DEvice".
d. Press "Install Driver", click "Yes" to the prompt and if you receive
a message about being unable to verify the publisher of the driver
click "Install this driver software anyway".
e.run heimdall and youll see a black screen come up and disappear
f.run heimdall-frontend then select the corosponding files
g.put the corresponding files where they belong.

[Q] Tablet wont mount via USB

Acer A500, ICS bootloader, ICS rom 4.0.3, stock.
I can't get it to connect to any computer via USB. Any reasons for that?
Got USB debugging checked?
Let me check, Im pretty sure its always checked...
Ok, yes it is. And Im looking at it right now, Im in the settings screen --> Storage --> Storage settings --> USB computer connection --> "Connect As" MTP is checked.
Nothing is showing up in the finder, not the internal SD nor external SD (micro sd card). There has to be a way.

Get the Google usb drivers and install them manually through device manager. Ignore any warnings about compatibility.

Could you point me in the right direction, or give me a file name to search for, thanks.
Im actually going to flash a new (aftermarket) rom later, so that might fix the problem, but in case it doesn't ill still need the file.
Oh, what device manager are you talking about? Whenever I think of flashing I think ADB or booting into CFW and flashing a zip or similar that way...
