Hi guys,
I updated the ROM on my XDA using yorchs ROM kitchen (4.00.05 ENG ppc2003). However, once upgraded this seemed to b0rk my GPRS. I did manage to make a connection to it once after the upgrade, then I believe after a soft reset, it refused to work anymore.
I am using the AP general.t-mobile.uk, username 'user', password 't-mobile'.
Does anyone know a 'good' ROM/Radio stack to use for an XDA on T-Mobile UK, and its location? Or possibly some 'working' settings?
Thanks guys

Hi,
I'm successfully using an unlocked UK o2 xda in South Africa (GSM and GPRS work fine). My xda is on ROM 3.02.00 ENG, RSU 4.01. I see that o2 has new updates out on http://www.o2.co.uk/productsservices/xda/romupgradedownload/0,,170,00.html which is ROM 3.14.13, RSU 4.16 (boasting 33% faster GPRS, etc) I have read through this forum to try and ascertain which of the numerous updates out there is best for me.. I see though that the o2 update is prone to signal related problems, which is bad for me as I use my xda as a business tool. Are there any recommendations or comments?
Thank you!
Hello Jus
How did you manage to update the ROM and upon upgrade did you have to make any specific country or Network settings?
Dont upgrade the GSM ROM. highly probable that the phone wont connect to the network.

Thnxz Bro.
Hi ZeroXtreme,
Mind if I ask which country have you used the new rom? Have you used it in Singapore or Malaysia?
Cheers
Vic
I did use the rom kitchen wm2003 rom wih my asian edition (64 mb) xda with xda UK's rsu 4.21 successfully. I live here in the Philippines and I did not get any signal problems with Globe telco. I reverted back to 3.14.17 asian xda rom coz I heard that they will be releasing an updated rom this month.
used wm2003, its nice but to me personally, a bit laggy sometimes. don't try it with the 32 mbyte model. did the wm2003 upgrade on my bro's 32 mb device, and he had so little ram left! lucky for him he has a 256 mbyte sd card for software!
otherwise, its pretty good! now i'm currently running SER 1.2
I am from Malaysia and upgaraded to Rom Kitchen 4.00.05ENG and Radio4.21.00.
I have nothing but praise for the new os.
Have not encounter any of the known problems(SD card erase or alarm trouble).
As my Xda is 32M I have almost all my stuff on the 256M sd leaving 21M of ram free.
There are many enhancements making this a great upgrade. You wont notice the speed increace unless
using cpu intensive apps like emulators. The speed
improvement in PocketSNES is like using one of the
new 2003 ppc's and the always on GPRS is sweet!
I am using Digi prepaid.
was wondering if you flashed your rom , how did you managed to put back in all the cantacts onto the new rom? i tried flashing my rom but was unable to restore contacts onto the new rom

sync with Outlook first before you update your ROM, and then sync again after updating to ROM, this will bring back all your contacts and files from mydocuments
just cooked (last night) 4.00.11 ENG WM2003 and sucessfully installed it on my O2 Asian Ed. with Radio 4.21. Installation went smooth...but now the problem is :
1. not able to deliver any sms. All sms settings seemed fine.
2. RF signal meter ..much lower signal.
note: the always on GPRS present you with an irritating task, as you cannot find the END button to cut your your GPRS connection once connected.
can any one please give your comments? cheers

Press and hold red phone hangup button for about two seconds.
Yeah, currently using 4.00.05 in Australia. Used the Yorch ROM and burnt it on using XDA Tools.
It's a sweet upgrade, even though I've only been using it a couple of days. No problems yet. The first thing I've noticed though is the "always on" GPRS, it really is "always on", that in itself is very sweet indeed. I'll be keeping my eyes open for any ROMs newer than 4.00.16 that are NOT T-Mobile. Don't use T-Mobile ROMs unless you have a T-Mobile and are comfortable with the process involved in reverting back.
My advice - DO IT! You won't look back.
Hi, I am from Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, just get a XDA 64MB, can some one teach me how to upgrade to WM2003? Where can I get the ROM? I get from Yorch, but the file only 150kb very strange.
Can someone provide some nice FTP or webpage with FULL VERSION Application available?
Get in touch: ICQ 73348100
Thank You.
Please bear with me. I am new to using unoffical roms on my xda and want a bit of advice. I would like to use the WM2003 on my xda and o2 are taking ages with an upgrade if we ever see one at all?
This report gives me a little hope
Is it possible to build a rom at jeff's rom kitchen using 4.00.05 ENG WM2003 for my XDA. Will it work ok in the uk with O2. If it will, what tools do u recomend for upgrading / backing up the rom. I am currently using the latest O2 radio stack is that going to be compatable? Will it be possible to go back the current O2 rom so I can use an offical upgrade if it arrives. Has any one tried it with a UK O2 XDA ?
One last thing what are the chances of this ending baddly (i.e. my lovely XDA becoming an expensive irravesable paper weight) and how can I reduce / remove this risk.
Thanks for your help.
Update
For those of you interested I have some news. After reading many many forum posts I took the plunge. I upgraded it to the rom I was asking about before. It worked like a charm. No problems at all. Even got gprs working first try.
No quite sure about the microsofts claim "Constant Data Connections". Not sure quite what it means I am supused to be able to do interms of recving calls and using GPRS. May be i need the radio stack upgrading before that will work.
Anyway I just want to say thanks jeff and the developers of the Rom Kitchen and keep up the good work.
Hey, I am new here....
I have had mt ATT SX56 for 2 months and am fed up and switching to Tmobile. I'd love to be able to use this phone with the T-Mo service.
From reading these forums I tried to use the XDAUnlock.exe, but that didn't do anything because an error message showed up. So now, I went and purchased a serial cable.
I don't know what to do next. I would optimally like the WM 2003 on the phone after I update it, and I'd like the phone optimized for T-mobile.
If someone would point me in the right direction by giving me some instructions of what to download, where, and what the process is, I would really appreciate it. I know I have to cook my own ROM, etc....but which one? And how?
Thanks!!!!!!
Brad
If XDAunlock.exe didn't work, then the best start point is to flash your ROM with the XDA-developers ROM 3.17 and it will unlock your XDA with the first booting. Next, you can cook any 2003 ROM you like and flash your XDA again.
For the RSU, if the current Radio version didn't get the signal in your area, most propably you will need to upgrade your RSU to TMO 6.24
You can get the ROM from http://kitchen.romanweb.com/kitchen/index.php
And you can get the RSU from www.yorch.net "upgrades"
In all cases, you better to do SD backup of the current versions.
Good luck ...
OK-
Finally got the XDA unlocked with the SER. Thank you XDA Developers!!!!! Now I have a useless serial cable. Oh well, I'll take that over my other options..
Is it normal that the SER increased my reception? I now have signal in my house whereas I did not before. Also, I seem to have lost all possibility of connecting to the internet. How do I get this back? What do I do in the connection settings?
In any event, now that I did that, exactly what rom base do I cook if I want PPC Mobile 2003? 4.00.05 PPC 2003, 4.00.10 Tmo, or 4.00.16 Tmo?
Thanks!!!!!!
OKey DOke-
One last question...I have upgraded to the Regular ppc 2003 rom.
Phone works, internet doesn't. How do I set this up?
Hi all,
I've just burned and installed the WM2003 ver.4.00.05 ENG from Yorch.net, and its runs correctly on my O2 XDA I, but there is'nt the wmodem.
Where can i found it?
or:
How can I connect my XDA I with my notebook by IrDA to use it lyke wireless modem?
thanks
marco
Wmodem cannot work with WM2003!
has any body taken the Wmodem from the German WM2003 os...and tried it out on an american/tmo version?
if so, can U please attach the files, I would do it my self, but I dont know if it will work, and I dont want to lose all my settings I put so much time into and went threw 3946574357437567386 ROMUpgrades lol !
i did try but it didn't work
