ScaryBear Software has just released Version 1.6 of CheckNotifications, a
utility designed for the Pocket PC devices running the Mobile 2003 OS. This utility helps the user to delete duplicate notification events known to be created by the Mobile 2003 OS when you do a soft-reset of your device (which could amount to hundreds of duplicate events if you do frequent soft-resets).
The changes made to this version are listed below:
- Duplicate events are colored in red on the main display
of CheckNotifications.
- The user can remove duplicate notification events by tapping
the "Clear" button, with the option "Remove duplicate events"
check in the settings panel.
- Individual events can be delete by doing a tap-n-hold on the
displayed event on the screen, and selecting the "Delete" option
from the popup menu.
This is a freeware application available from our web site at

Hi,
It looks like some misunderstanding happened here.
I'm not a representative of ScaryBear Soft.
I just forward the info to this great forum. That's it.

When you are in the inbox or any other subfolder. you see the name of the person that sent the mail (From).
Is there a way to get the Sent Items folder to display where the mail went (To)
Thanks
Nii
Huh?
In my sent folders I see the "To:" recipient of the mail.
Maybe you fiddled around your settings.
If you mean the mail itself, when you open it there is a small double arrow at the right bottom of the header. Click it and you see the recipients.
Cheers,
Mundl
have a look at the attachement. all mail from me.

You need to select a single mail message. Now you will see double >> facing downwards in your right part of the screen. When you click the double arrows it will be shown where the message went
Thanks for the response but that not what my problem is.
I wanna know if you can have the 'To' column on the main screen rather than the default 'From' column
@pda,
I have on my device (firmware 1.11.01, windows mobile Version 4.21.1088) no option to change it, and I don't need to change, because in sent folder there is already the To: address.
I guess this is a problem with your software version of the device.
We still don't know which firmware versions and/or branding you are using.
Thanks esackbauer

Maybe you are sync'ing to an Exchange server? Because I have had that exact same problem since I switched to Exchange...
yeah, i was been usung activesync to sync with my exchange server at work.
Thought so...
Well, at least we now know the reason for this problem. Now we only need the fix.
yep
After I couldn't find an app to sync iCalendars with pocket outlook, I decided to make my own. Note: it IS buggy and not complete (eg ALPHA). Use at your own risk but it works fine on my PPC-6700 using a google calendar.
It supports syncing normal events as well as all day and weekly recurring events (eg every week on m,w,f) I designed it so that it can run on a timer in the background and update whenever or you can trigger it yourself. I'm not a pro developer so its not the best in the world but it works for me!
Also, it doesn't delete anything from your phone, only adds new items or updates existing ones (keys off of the title of the appointment).
I plan on posting it up on a sourceforge site soon and making the code public.
Attached is a screenshot of the interface. Yes, very simple.
Instructions: To install, download the attached cab, copy the cab to your device and browse to it and tap it to install.
Then you can configure it with the url (I recomend copy and paste from a text message or something if the url is long) select if you want it to auto update or not and if so, how often. Make sure you save the settings so they are stored for the next running.
Very good idea !
I was just thinking how I could sync Google calendar with Pocket Outlook
A question before I try : which url do you enter ?
When I browse Google calendar on my PC I get : http://www.google.com/calendar/render
Is that it ?
I probably should've mentioned that. For google calendar, go to settings, calendars, then click the calendar you want to import, and under private address click ical. Then copy and paste the url it gives to a text message and send it to the device so you can copy and paste it into the app (thats what I did).
Ok thanks.
I'll test your app tomorrow morning
This is a great app. Do you think you can make an update on google side, ie pocket pc overwrite the google calendar. It doesn't need to be a full sync at the beginning, but this would be a great addition
At least being able to sync appoints from the device to the google calendar would be great, no need to necessarily wipe them. That is, a bi-directional sync, with no delete. If an appointment needs to be deleted, it would just need to be deleted from both locations.
Generally sync apps have the following types of options:
Local -> Remote (No delete)
Local -> Remote (Delete remote entries that are not present locally)
Remote -> Local (No delete)
Remote -> Local (Delete local entries that are not present remotely)
Remote -> Local / Local -> Remote (Do not delete any entries)

Any news on this?
Posting code to sourceforge
Hi,
Could you please post your code to sourceforge. This way we could help you develop this piece of software. Would be appreciated.
Regards,
Gerard
Any word on this? I'm anxious to see/start working on it.
I was just looking for something like this! I will try it when I get home from work. Hope to see continued development.
This app is great and exactly what I was looking for. I have been using it for a couple weeks now.
One thing, I noticed that it only pulls in the first 50+ characters of the appointment's description. Is there a way we can get the whole description?
Is there any update on the status of this project? Is going to be put on Sourceforge? I would gladly contribute to working on it.
Thanks
Josh

I had the same problem. I got the .net compact framework from below:

I wonder if the developer of this app is still around.
Chanced my arm and tried it with WM6 on a TyTn-II ... started and ran OK, but then got errors regarding file layout / format.
Not sure if these are because I am on WM6 and the app is written for WM5, or if the ics file ( from Google Calendar ) is in a format the app doesn't like. I think more likely the former, as the post seems to indicate it was written with GCal in mind.
So, has anyone else had any luck with this in WM6, or even know of something similar. Don't need two way sync with device, just a way to dump my GCal onto my handheld.
Cheers,
nwpsys
No matter, oggsync seems to work for me, as I have tinkered with my GCal calendars a bit to have all my key stuff in one, so I can use the freeware version of oggsync
Google Calendar Sync
5 March 2008 Google Calendar Sync allows you to sync events between Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook Calendar.
http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?answer=89955
You can now access your Google Calendar account from your mobile phone! Just visit mobile.google.com/calendar/ with your phone's web browser and once you're logged in, you'll see your list of upcoming events with date and time information in an easy-to-browse format.
Cheers

Me too- Win mobile 6.1 on a Tilt, no good. Call method errors.
I just tried it on my HP iPaq 614C (wm6), and it worked great. Thanks!

Tried it, got errors. I also would really like to see this come alive again, don't want to use Google Cal in any way. Using Rainlendar desktop cal on my 2 pc's with a common ics file on the ftp server. Works perfectly, but would also like to keep my phone up to date automaticly/semi automaticly.
Is it normal to have a group automatically show up in your contacts list name "UnGrouped" when using AOL service??
I have about 7 contacts in that group from my other normal groups.
Its a real annoyance. Everytime someone IMs me they pop up in that group.
Anyone else have this issue?

Thanks but your version does not syncing with the PC like Wm SMS SYNC does.
I am sorry guys. But I wiped my whole download dir last week forgetting about this app.Maybe it is still available on the net.
Anyway. It did go commercial so I don't think the programmer wants me to spread an old free copy around. Neither I am allowed by XDA, I think to do so.
Found a similar app as WM SMS Sync, Efficasoft's Mobile Express freeware.
http://www.efficasoft.com/mobileexpress/index.html
Features
Manage Text Message (SMS) Inbox, Outbox, Drafts, Send Items, Deleted Items.
Send, reply and forward text messages directly from desktop PC.
Supports text message delivery notification request.
Export text messages to txt file in chat-history style.
Organize (add, edit, delete, find) phone contacts.
Synchronized text messages automatically - NO NEED TO MANUALLY 'REFRESH'.
New text message arrival tray notification.
Requirements
Windows 2000, XP, 2003 with ActiveSync installed.
Windows Vista with latest version of Device Center installed.
Windows Mobile Smartphone or Pocket PC (2003, 2003 SE, WM5 and WM6).

Windows Mobile SMS Sync 2.0
Hello,
Windows Mobile SMS Sync did go commercial however the new 2.0 version includes a number of really intresting features that set it apart from other the freeware and other commercial applications available. One of the key new features is that you can sync up to our secure server and then restore your messages from our secure server to a new Windows Mobile device.
While it is no longer available as freeware, I would happily give some xda-developers readers free copies of the software in exchange for their feedback. Feedback from the sort of technical users that frequent these forums would be worth more to me than the $10 application fee which I am sure few of you would be willing to pay anyways - you are definitely not the target audience for this application.
If any of you are still looking for a solution to your text message backup needs, please reply here or email me at [email protected] and I will provide you a coupon code to download the application for free. In exchange, I just ask that you provide me with a somewhat detailed analysis of the application and your expierence.
Thank you,

Hi all,
I have a little problem with email links in a email on my HTC HD2. When i click on the link it will open a screen to check the emailadress. And it will put the whole link there and won't recognize the mailto and subject.
What can this be, on my pc the link works correctly and on a iphone or older HTC it works.
thanks for any reply.
eelos.
ps. have tested HTML and plain text, same results
anyone? please help
You're doing the link wrong. Check this page...
http://www.johnmolyneux.co.uk/temp/emailtest.html
Do a "view source" to see the tag.
hi john,
Thank you for your reply. I tried every format, but here is your link.
from the opera browser it works flawless, but when i paste your link in a email i get this
img526.imageshack.us/img526/396/screen001d.png
img268.imageshack.us/img268/6371/screen002wg.png
it asks me to check the emailadres en when i choose the first option to send a email with outlook it paste the whole link there.
maybe you know what's the problem.
eelos.
It's not actually a problem - it's just that it's a clickable link. Copy and paste on a PC would do exactly the same thing.
What are you trying to do exactly?
hi,
No, on the pc it will open up a new email with the adress and subject.
I get work mails on my HTC HD2 with two email links in it, to approv the order or to reject the order.
All my employees get them and it will open a new email with all the parameters and you only have to press send and are sales software (server) gets the message and process its.
It works on the iphone, older HTC models etc.
But the HTC HD2 thinks the whole link is the adress, like in the pictures (sorry no direct links, still a new member.....)
hope you can help.

Okay, so you're saying it works with a mailto: link in web pages, but not ones that are in emails?
If that's the case, then I don't see a way round it. It's just the way pocket outlook behaves.
yes, i think it's the UI (manilla), that opens a screen to check the mailadres before it will go to outlook. If i open it from opera, it will go directly to outlook.
I only think it's strange that i'm the only one stumbling on to this problem.
(google won't give me any other hit)
Will try to contact HTC about this. Thank you John for your time.
greetings,
eelos.
