SE HBH-200 for XDAII? Does it work? - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Guys.
Can nybody confir if the SE HBH-200 works with the XDAII? I love this bluetooth headset, but want to know if it will actually display the caller ID or number, when paired with the XDAII. I know that people with P800's had problems, and did not show caller id or call history.

No, the headset works but caller display, calling list etc won't work. The manual said it need bt headfree profile in order to get it to work.
BTW, the manual also said P800 is not on the support list.

I'm waiting for this Headset for 6 months and you are saying CALLER ID WILL NOT WORK, are you sure ?
I think i-mate/XDA II has Bluetooth Profile !
OR will it work in future? Does it need a software upgrade?
Please advice,,,

I have an XDA II and could not get it to pair with my HBH-200.
During pairinf the XDA II prompted for the PIN number and when entered the HBH-200 indicator lights went from alternating red/green to solid green indicating paring had completed but the XDA II displayed a PIN error message. This was despite the PIN being used was the correct one.
I sold off the HBH-200 and bought a HBH-60 which works great with my XDA-II

I am 100% sure because I have HBH-200 right on my hand now with my XDA2. Read thru the simple manual from HBH-200 and it said it need Bluetooth Handfree profile in order to get CALLER ID / CALLER LISt to work (which XDA2 only have handset profile !). P800 is also the same case as XDA2 ... hee hee ...
I wasted my US$120 for my HBH-200 and found out it only funciton as a HBH-65 ... but I still like it because everybody will just think I got a MP3 player but not a bluetooth handset ...
Woo ...

For HBH-200 you can actually go to MASTER RESET menu (by holding the on and off button) and reset the handfree. The master pin is always 0000 and is unchangable in this model.
I like it because it got a LCD display, even though CALLER ID won't work. I can still navigate thru different menu like changing the ring tone on the handfree !!!

:? :x

As per Carrier Devices Company (i-mate dealer), this issue will be solved by them soon...
If you can read Arabic  , find the answer from Mr. Ahmad Al-Delaimi about Handsfree Profile in i-mate  ....:

Universal BT headset survey

Please list what BT headset do you use with your Universal and the Pros and Cons. I'm in the market looking for the best BT headset for the Universal so I'll need as many feedbacks as possible, thanks all
As if you'd need warning, but I would (on the whole) advise against going for a cheapy clip-on one. I bought one a while ago on the basis that (a) it was cheap and (b) I didn't want to strap a 2.4GHz mini-microwave oven to my head
It works ok, but is just about fiddly enough to make me stay with a wired setup or speakerphone.
From what I've read in other posts, there isn't yet a bt headset that integrates with the ppc well enough to show the name of the caller. I think that until that one's resolved I'll be holding fire anyway.
[OK, I know it's not a particularly helpful addition to the thread, but at least it bumps it, right ]
Sony Ericsson HBH-660

Hi,
I hope you people can help.
I looking for a Bluetooth headset thats got a a little display.
Hopefully this will display information like time, person calling, and possible scroll through contacts.
Due to the size of the Exec, I would like to store this in a backpack when out and about. And a smartheadset would really help.
Jabra BT800
Long battery life
Quick recharge
Reliable
Light
I never look at the display, other than to see the charge status.

BT headsets with displays don't display anything other than the caller number when used with HTC devices such as the Universal. Not sure why.
Smartphones need Smartheadsets..
Its just the XDA Exec is to big to carry in your jacket pocket.
And you need to open it everytime you need to call someon.
Living in london you get some looks on the underground.
And majority of all streetcrime involves mobile crime.
I`ve been toying with the of idea of a Mini-XDA Exec....
A device that small enough to fit into your pocket.
Snycs between the headset & XDA Exec.
With a display for Caller ID, Contacts, SMS...(Basic phone functions)
This would be a top seller..
I agree this would cost but would be perfect.
No more fearing getting mugged at the station.
No more being a flash git in the pub.
No more carring a brick in your pocket.
HTC should consider designing accessories.
Both the SE HBH-608 and Jabra Bt800 workl well. The battery life on the HBH-608 is just fantastic. I get about 8 days of use from it (it is on 10 hours a day). Ear piece volume is low on both models when used with the JJ. Need to test my HBH-300 and Jabra BT330.
Edit: @rilot, for caller ID to work you need a particular BT profile, the Se P910i does support the profile, which I think is the "hand free profile"
SE HBH 662
Just got my SE HBH 662. It's small, lightweight, seems comfortable. So far sound quality seems good on both ends.
I'm new to this headset business, so I'm not the best one to offer comparisons. I bought this model based on remarks on this and other forums, and so far my impression is that I have definitely benefited from the collective wisdom of great online communities like this one.
Thanks All.
I tried with Motorola HS850 and Jabra BT 250V.. Dont think they are made for jasjar... I know both of them doesnt have Display, was hoping to good sound quality.... But I was not lucky enough.
SE HBH-300
10 hours talk time, 300 hours standy.
Sound quality on an 02 XDA Exec is okay but not as good as with an SE P910i. The XDA's bluetooth suffers from static background noise.

This is correct.
HTC state that their devices do have a handsfee profile. No idea why they can't pass the caller ID to the headset though.
Jabra BT 800 is OK with me.
*Long battery life.
*Discharging in short time.
*Big display screen.
*Big, but light.
*Easy to use.
*Can make calls from the Head Set for the last 10 Nos. without needing to open the phone.
*Reliable.
I was using sony erricson before buying the Jabra, but Jabra is far better than sony erricson........sony erricson battery dies in a couple of hours standby.
Regards,
I did try my hbh-660 just to see if it would work but shortly after changed over to my preferred bluespoon AX which works fine with the voice dialling etc. no issues there for me

Guys, the phone number is the exact caller ID you're after. It is working as advertised. However, what you want is the _name_ behind the caller ID. Not sure if this is specified in the bluetooth specs, though...
problem with Jabra bt800
Has anybody experienced a crap sound with Jabra?
I can hear pretty well, but the person on the other side complains a "drummy" sound.
I tried deleting the pairing and restoring it, same results.
Any thought?
I use the HBH-662, very comfortable, shows the number, has improved the voice quality 10 fold and sounds alot better than using the phone itself, dont use my phone without it anymore regardless of where i am.
This is strange. My SE HBH-662 (BT 1.2) works perfectly with my Jam and shows the caller-id as long as the number exists in the Outlook AB. IT doesn't show the number then, just the name. In the absence of a name, it will show the number only.

BT800 FW Upgrade

Jabra has release a firmware upgrade for the BT800. Has anybody else tried it? I upgraded mine yesterday and it does transfer the sound to the headset much faster. But I'm disappointed because Caller ID doesn't work at all. It used to work with the original firmware, at least showed the caller's number (with the + sign).
I already tried it by uninstalling Mort Ring and still no Caller ID.
I`ve just also loaded this upgrade, it seems to ver.32 new one. 21 is now. What was your version? I did not upgrade yet, waiting result of your experiment. Try to reupgrade
I started a thread in http://www.4winmobile.com/viewtopic.php?p=4949#4949 since I learned about the upgrade from 4winmobile.com and wasn't getting any reaction from here.
I just tested the BT800 on my 1.12 (radio 1.13) Jam.
The caller ID worked partially. It did not show the database name, but the number instead.
The Jabra had the latest available firmware installed and the audio quality was really good!
When we tried ending the call, the BT800 froze up. I don't have a slightest clue about it. I blame everything on the MS stack
Perhaps it works better with the stack extender available in the forum?
I never had the name showing up just the tel. no. and was quite happy about it since a lot of bt800 users were complaining that they get garbled characters in the display.

I can't remember where I read it, but some guy was saying that he was able to get the number and contact name to display on the BT800/Jam combo by exporting the contacts to the SIM card...I suppose it is worth a try. Maybe I'm going to go down an pick up a BT800 myself.
Thanks for the tip Matterhorn but still no Caller ID. The other point is that my S100 is for both business and personal use and I have close to 200 entries in my phonebook, each entry having a minimum of 3 numbers. A SIM card can hold only 250.
Before the software upgrade was done, the BT800 displayed the tel. no. of the caller wether the caller is on my phonebook or not, and that was enough for me knowing that the S100 and the BT800 are not compatible.
After a long exchange of emails between Jabra and myself, finally they request me to ship my BT800 for replacement to their repair center in Holland.

9000 and BT WITH CALLER ID problem

:?: I bought a BT WITH CALLER ID for the 9000 it is very good and works good with the phonetic calls ,the problem is in the recognition while it makes it recognizes the number it does not make such the name(like bt800) I believe that is subject of sofware appliance.
for me even if I only have bluetooth few hours the problem is that when it calls somebody it does not transport the number with the (+) from 9000 to bluetooth, examle. + 30210555555... but 302105555555.. in the screen with result when I want to take back the one who call me it says wrong number(my nokia 6600 and ericcson v800 that I tryed it plays with no problem so it is not subject bluetooth but the 9000).
i ask now if someone knows how can the 9000 would send (+) with number? :?: :!:
I thank you
and sorry for my bad english
If you are using a Jabra BT800, just update the firmware with the new release available on Jabra site, this known problem has been fixed!
Bye!
Hi Mastelos,
I just sent this as a PM to another user of the forum so I may as well post it here also.
I hope you're technical and understand 3GPP & BT specs!
I'm basing this on the fact that nobody has said they can receive the phonebook name to the BT headset. As such I guess it's a phone issue.
When a phonecall arrives at the mobile the caller ID (CLIP) is displayed from the modem with the command AT+CLIP. When the headset is alerted to the incoming call it sends AT+CLIP to the modem also. Now the response to AT+CLIP for the phone is defined in the 3GPP 27.007 specs as "+CLIP: <number>,<type>[,<subaddr>,<satype>[,[<alpha>][,<CLI validity>]]]". Only <number> & <alpha> are of interest here where <number> is the phone number and <alpha> is the representation (address book) of the number. I'm not sure where the <alpha> is taken from (SIM or phone memory) but I guess this is phone software implimentation.
The BT specs specify that the only response to AT+CLIP from the headset should be <number>. This is understandable as not every call you receive will have an <alpha> available. Because of this most phone software doesn't impliment it. Although the BT specs only specify <number> it doesn't restrict the other responses listed in the 27.007 document, specifically <alpha>. This is what SE and Nokia are doing. Their phone software to BT stack software has been written to add the <alpha> functionality to a BT headsets AT+CLIP request / responses. It appears HTC have not taken this step to add this functionality so this is why we don't get the name on the BT headset.
This is something which could be added in the future but I don't work for HTC so can't say (
Hope this explains all... Don't worry if you want to ask anything more.
Gavin.
ok thanks
if i understand well the name not appears is htc software thing ok until now but tell me please if it is the number (+) software thing
i try to explain better ,when i recieve a call a number appears in the bluetooth headset like 3021055....... when the headset is connected with other phone like my 6600 or v800 the number appears like this +3021055... with the result if i want to call back that number from the headset with 9000 i cant i need 9000 to send + with the number
hope you understand me hi hi

Hi Mastelos,
I understand your problem now. The post I added before was to do with names not appearing and not the '+'.
Ok, to start with both my SE HBH-200 and Parrot CK3100 BT devices show the numbers with the '+' OK so this is a headset issue. This is what is probably happening. The response to AT+CLIP should be: "+CLIP: <number>,<type>[,<subaddr>,<satype>[,[<alpha>][,<CLI validity>]]]"
<number> = Phone number of the caller - if not hidden
<type> = The type <number>. 129 for national and 145 if it has a '+'.
<alpha> = The phone's 'guess' of the name associated with that number.
What I suspect is happening is the Jabra is not identifying the <type> and thus thinking its response to AT+CLIP is a national number, i.e. without the '+'. This could be a formatting issue of the AT+CLIP response or it could be the Jabra has a bug (as mentioned by Wh1sp3r) which means it doesn't get the <type> and therefore doesn't display the '+'.
This is all a guess, albiet I work in this field so it's an eductated experienced guess, I don't have a Jabra to fully test and confirm.
Wh1sp3r has the best solution - get a SW update from the headset designer.
Thanks,
Gavin.
tnx Gavin for the reply
i saw the update of jabra bt800 for this problem but i have a v-three bth-8 headset . i send e-mail to both qtek and v-three the problem is that my headset works ok( the + symbol appears with all oter phones except qtek9000 )
tnx

Do you get the caller name on your V-Three with an HTC device?
no name only number

caller id + headset

i've been looking for the answer ( i think it should have been something that more people are suffering from but i was wrong )
i have a new headset. the sony hbh-ds970 nifty little thing. however when i'm receiving a call i only see the phone number on the screen. is there a way to display the name that the call is from when it is in my phonebook?
p.s. i'm using that upgrade to enable a2dp
Yes I know, it's really hard to find something here. Indeed there are more people than only you, who would like this feature to be supported! But bad news! Please read my little review of the headset in combination with the Magician in the A2DP thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=337217#337217! So far only the point that MortPlayer does not support AVRCP is outdated.
The short conclusion, that matches also this thread is: "To sum up, the HBH-DS970 is a high quality product and the "Walkman" logo on it is justified. Only the Magician is not an equal counterpart to it."
well i'm willing to start on such an application. but i was looking yesterday, and since havn't found any sdk for the ppc2003se bluetooth stack. No api, actually finding info on a2dp or avrcd was pretty hard to come by.
Can anyone point me in the right direction (sdk for the ppc2003se bluetoothstack?)
i have some good ideas on how to implement the stuff.
That would be really nice! But I don't know if there is an SDK for the stack, maybe ask in a seperate thread!?
hmm why does the caller id sometimes work and sometimes not? i just got a call from a friend, and his name was in the screen, after the call i tried to phone and i got the right name in screen... pretty weird :S
Guys,
try this app (JETware Hands-free Extension for Windows Mobile phones) @ http://www.jetwaremobile.com/index.htm
It works!
The best option until M$ decides to implement it by their own in BT stack...

HBH DS970 lcd to work??

how do i get this to work on WInMO. I got voice dialin, volume, skip track.. All of those functions. The one function that is important is caller ID. I would like to have a way to see who, by name, or by number on the lcd when an inomcing call is comming in?? how do i do this?
is there no windows mobile people that have gotten this to work?
I get number ( NOT name) on incomming phone call.
My headset also freezes on Sony/Ericsson logo if I turn it off
before I turn off BT on the Titan
Only remedy is to plug in charger to reset it.
i get the same freeze thing, but how did you get the numbers to show???? That is all i need... just normal pairing or wht?
For me, eten x500 number shows out of the box.
Did you buy yours from ebay?
If it freezes when you try to turn it off, most likely it's a fake... sorry to say...
Real SE does not do that...
Don't know, it just works

It worked for me, incoming caller name and phone (2sec Phone number 2sec Name)
You will be able to run your last call from your headset, but the contact won't work and the title with WMP or audio manager won't work also.
No problem, no more hissing.
Schap's 4.30/FR running on Hermes with DS980 (almost same than yours)
