Hi All,
Anyone else having trouble with the kitchen at both Yorch and RomanWeb? I've been trying to cook up a 4.00.05 ROM as i'm sick of .16. This is the error that i'm getting, appears to be a path issue in the scripts???
./mkrom.sh: ../../kitchen.local/mkrom-inc.sh: No such file or directory
write xip block starting at 81740000, with 3 files
write xip block starting at 81b00000, with 158 files
this rom seems to be 4.00.05 ENG 2003-06-05 ppc2003
this bootloader seems to be V5.22 2003-05-15 17:46:55
no operator rom found
xip regions not found: 81b00000=XDA_DEVELOPERS2
Error creating new rom
Any help appreciated.
Steve
Whatever it was they must have fixed it because I just cooked up a 4.00.05 ROM and had no difficulties. So give it another go!

Still a problem for me, i'll try another machine...however can't see how this would make any diff.
hi All,
I tried another machine, with both the .05 and .10 ROM's with no luck. Exactly the same error.
I just can't think of anything else to try?
Thanks for your help
WOW, now thats really strange its working just fine for me!

I have chose everything i want in Jeff's Kitchen but none of the things i selected was installed into my XDA...
anyone who faced this problem exactly like me also?? developers??
please enlighten me on why this happen
thanks a million
Same for me with every room version.
it seams ther's a bug int jeffs module for the moment.
Same here. And its causing me lots of stress. I have tried several combinations in the kitchen but all didn't work out. The selected programs were found in the XDA Windows folder but the shortcuts and more importantly the "Misc' and "System tools" folder icons were not created at all.
I should have read this thread before deciding to downgrade from 4.00.11 to 4.00.05. Now I am stucked.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jeff for providing us his kitchen to cook our own ROM all this while. But I hope Jeff could help us further by fixing up this minor problem in his kitchen.

Why do you want to downgrade to 4.00.5?
For my self I was trying to upgrade to 4.00.11 but Jeff’s rom seams to have a bug for the moment.
I you want I have Jeff rom 4.00.5 nbf file but it's done with my own receipt, it has almost all options on it.

Thanks Yann but I usually took out most of the options so your 4.00.05 may not be ideal for me.
Anyway after using 4.00.11 for almost a month, me and other XDA users from our local forum felt that 4.00.05 was more stable than 4.00.11. In fact some of them have successfully downgraded back to 4.00.05.
We all fail to see any differences at all between 4.00.05 and 4.00.11 so if 4.00.05 is stable for you I suggest that you keep it until another version that has apparent improvement comes along.

I agree with that, anything that is suitable for your taste... that's why there are a lot of selection on the kitchen to choose.
Jeffs Kitchen 2003 roms DONT INSTALL ANY SHAREWARE ?!
I have just tried BOTH PPC 2003 rom images and they *do not* install any of the extra Shareware apps that I had selected.
I have not seen PPC2003 before so it was nice to play with the new options and I even found PocketTV gives me better frame rates from my 512mb sd card. BUT I miss all the nice shareware...
I DO HOPE THIS IS NOT A FAKE SITE and that it is just a glitch...
Can someone email me when its working again - or if anyone has a saved 2003 rom with the shareware apps ?

Jeff's Kitchen works!
Jeff's Kitchen works great. I have tried all options and all base ROMs and all of them work.
Make sure that all of you have checked the boxes in front of the main heading, that is, "Add software and Modify ROM", "Theft Protection" etc. This is important, otherwise the freeware will not be installed.

Yes. Done all that. Just say that we are not using the kitchen for the first time.
When was the last time you cook from the kitchen and all options worked fine?
Re: Jeff's Kitchen problem
Last was more than a month. Never tried later. Will try. But if you say so, there must be a problem. Never meant to disbelieve you.
Noticed that 2 - thought it was just I
Hey guys I noticed the prob 2. Thought twas just me and that maybe it had somethin to do wit d theft protection. Thought I would come on d site and see what others were sayin and here I am now writin. I reckon its been like this since about Wednesday of last week. Anyhows somethin is better than nothin and most of the progs are under Windows, so's I guess we just have 2 wait for those that know. Good Luck
Jeff's Kitchen problem
They are there! All the freeware selected is there under windows. However, the folders such as Internet, Misc, Phone, System Tool etc are not created under programs, and the links are not located there. If you select the tdLaunch option, all the selected freeware appears as buttons and they all work.
The problem could be in running the mkrom, but I am not techie and don't know about unix.
No Tdlaunch either !
I have just tried another download of the PPC2003 rom and Tdlaunch is not installed. Some of the other apps are , all installed into the windows dirctory but non of the short cuts are created :-(
I'm gonna stick with this version and hope that JEFF can fix it soon.
Keep up the good work.
Greg
I was doing a rom upgrade which failed after updating the bootloader to the progress bar - so far no prob. Was happy to re-cradle the device and start again, which was happy to begin until it came back with;
The ROM image you are trying to upgrade is not compatible [to] your Pocket PC.
Here are the differences;
Your Device Information;
Model: PW10A1:001
ROM Version: 4.00
Language English
Your Upgraded Image Information;
Model: PW10A1:007
ROM Version: 3.16
Language English
Please download the compatible utility and try again.
OK, I have tried both ROM kitchens and am unable to create an image of type .nbf with the NBF Header string which will fool the installer. A couple of times I received a failure in the kitchen with folders non-existent, but more recently completed the build but still no joy. Have tried all possible rom bases.
I was able to create a Bootloader patch SD, but only after unsuccessful timewasting with XDARit 1.2, finally found 1.0 and voila. Of course now I get the diagnostic menu but cannot seem to create a correct image SD to boot because it always reverts to the patch menu again when I tell it to restore. I don't think I am doing anything wrong in image creation, and have tried both the XDARit and XDATools method. No joy.
Any clues? At the moment it is not heavy enough for a boat anchor, and the white screen is not bright enough for a torch!
Appreciate any suggestions asap.
Cheers,
David
Which ROM do you want? I have got the all a part from 4.00.16.
Let me know and I email you it.
re: crashed update
Ritmo-Unido thanks for that. Not sure any of my ISPs will allow 16Mb of attachment though. 4.00.16 sounds like the go. Let's give it a try. Otherwise share it under Kazaa or something and I will find it if you like.

Extra information for those others interested; reading through other posts this is a problem other Australian owners appear to have had also. Must be something peculiar to the Asian 5.17 Wallaby?
I am trying to upgrade my Siemens SX56 to ROM 3.17 from Yorch.net,
I did the following:
1. Backed up the current ROM using OSImageTool.exe
2. Downloaded ROM 3.17 from Yorch.net in a .exe file format
3. Clicked on the downloaded .exe and I get the following error message:
Cannot find the ROM image to upgrade your Pocket PC. Please download and try again.
Please help, I am a newbie!
1st mistake...DONT USE AN EXE to upgrade. Use the sd card method. Otherwise you will be screwed.
When I select zipped NK.nb1 (SD-card flashing) I get the following error:
./mkrom.sh: ../../kitchen.local/mkrom-inc.sh: No such file or directoryno files for configid 26220739Cannot fit files in given sectionsError splitting files
From what you posted it appears theres a problem within the Kitchen,
try back later!
HTH
Where else can I get 3.17 , the only kitchen I found was Yorch.net
Now the log shows:
adding: NK.nb1zip I/O error: No space left on device
zip error: Output file write failure (write error on zip file)

I'm guessing that the kitchen needs to have old results purged occasionally (possibly manually?).
Strange I used it earlier to get stock ROMs and I did all of them with no problem. Hmmm

You can use the XDA developers Special Edition ROM v1.2 its based on the same ROM.
XDA developers Special Edition ROM v1.2 can be found at:

Ignore my last post. I went back and was able to cook a 4.00.16 ROM, so it's not a server disk space issue (like the error message made me think).
And I just cooked a 3.17.03 ROM. Guess it might be back.
Thanks a lot guys, I'm still trying with no success. :x
I just realized Vallerhum has the setup I want, I also have a Siemens SX56 on ATT. Where did you get your ROM?
I got it from Jeff's kitchen before it went south. I am trying to get my own up for I have all of the ROMs to date.
Is your phone also unlocked?
How can I get your ROM? I am going to another country on Friday and need to unlock it before then so I can show off to my friends
No my phone is not unlocked. I am not planning on changing companies anytime soon but if you want to unlock it...just load the 3.17 rom or if you have ppc2002 just install the xda unlocker and then install the ppc2003 rom of your choice. However, always use the sd card method, dont use an .exe.
I was able to cook a ROM! This site is great: http://www.zensay.com/qtek/ceupgrade.html
Thanks all for your help!
Now, I'm playing around with other stuff and seeing If my unlock was successfull.
That site is not a kitchen. It is for teaching how to do an SD card ROM upgrade. Where did you cook (or download) your ROM? Cooking is the customization of ROMs with other softwares.
Hello, after many hours of experimenting I've succesfully rum mkrom on cygwin to create a 3.17 rom. I did this from the mkrom.zip that xda-developers provided. The problem is I want to cook my own 4.00.21 or 4.01. I can't get a good rom out of it.
I was playing with the mkrom.sh that I got from the 4.00.16 directory structure of the xda sample kitchen but I can't get it configured correctly to even make a bad rom.
Do any of you have any suggestions or a mkrom.sh you are using to cook 4.x roms? I can't go the whole route to set up a Web Kitchen. Thanks - Jim
I was able to cook a bad room. loads up, shows the bootimage screen bright, shows radio stack, then dead. I believe it was becasue of bad registry file.
the problem is that whatever I do, the default.fdf extracted from rom by dumprom is only about 17k large. which is wrong, the default.fdf from 3.17 rom is about 333k. I tried all 4.00.xx roms, cooked or clean, I tried the latest dumprom, tried on windows or linux, tried with or without -4 option. all the same.
anyone can help me out?
Every time I try to cook a 3.17.03 ENG O2-Euro ROM using the SD method the last few days it comes back saying "ROM Creation Error. Click here to see the log.". And when I "click here to see the log" it says the fallowing:</p>
./mkrom.sh: ../../kitchen.local/mkrom-inc.sh: No such file or directoryno files for configid 26220739Cannot fit files in given sectionsError splitting files</p>
Also when I try the .exe method it finishes, and I can download it. But when I run it, there is a "ERROR 007 NO ROM IMAGE FILE" Cannot find the ROM image to upgrade your Pocket PC. Please download and try again.</p>
Any help would be appreciated. Thanx</p>
No problems here making a zipped NK.nb1.
What configuration were you trying to make?

Looks like there is a problem with the operaor Config Data......
Maybe cooking without Autoconfigdata will work fine.
Just try it...

pdhenry & LumpiStefan thank you for the replies. I have tried to cook a ROM w/ & w/o auto config. & using .exe & SD methods, and it didn't help. I just tried it again w/o auto config., and got the same error. :?
Hi there,
YEs I'm getting the same problem with the Kitchen.javascript:emoticon(':?:') javascript:emoticon('')
Hi everybody,
I tried many things to find a solution(w/without firewall, different browser) but so far, I'm getting the same message and the same result.
/mkrom.sh: ../../kitchen.local/mkrom-inc.sh: No such file or directoryno files for configid 26220739Cannot fit files in given sectionsError splitting files
Any others people who got the same message in the past?
Thanks,

Hi Budney,
HAve you found any solution yet?
Could you tell me what are you using as browser?
Cheers,
Wow. I'm still not having problems. :? Running IE6 on windows XP (don't know what effect the browser would have - sounds like it would be a problem on the kitchen side).
Last night I cooked a vanilla 3.17.03 ROM, this morning a 4.00.16 ROM without problems. I didn't try to download and save them, but mkrom ran and completed normally in both instances.
tiluc - I am still having the same problem with cooking 3.17.03 ROMs. I think pdhenry is right, it's on the kitchen side.
pdhenry - I am running what you are XP & IE6. Were those ROMs you cooked .exe or SD? As the 3.17.03 .exe ROMs will complete, but when I run them I get that 007 ERROR meesage.
They were SD roms, and I didn't try downloading/installing them - just runnng the kitchen until it told me it was finished.

Lucky you. But lucky for me I did get two ROMs completed, they were on the plain side though. Right after I tried the first plain ROM I tried two more ROMs with a lot programs in them, but they both didn't work. I then tried another plain ROM, and it worked. So I would think that it's one of the programs that is messing up the ROMs. :?
That would be consistent with the "no such file or directory" messages you're getting. I guess it'stime for some experimenting...

I remeber a thread telling that you have to leave a certain amount of memory free when you cooking the ROM, I think it was around 200 KB or so. Try to uncheck some add-on software to keep, let's say 250 KB free (see the info next to green bar) and try again. It should work with any of the ROM versions.
sharkhan - I think you are correct. As I just tried cooking one up & left 250 KB open, and it was successful.
