Any one else having problems with yorch.net??? - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

Every time I try to cook a 3.17.03 ENG O2-Euro ROM using the SD method the last few days it comes back saying "ROM Creation Error. Click here to see the log.". And when I "click here to see the log" it says the fallowing:</p>
./mkrom.sh: ../../kitchen.local/mkrom-inc.sh: No such file or directoryno files for configid 26220739Cannot fit files in given sectionsError splitting files</p>
Also when I try the .exe method it finishes, and I can download it. But when I run it, there is a "ERROR 007 NO ROM IMAGE FILE" Cannot find the ROM image to upgrade your Pocket PC. Please download and try again.</p>
Any help would be appreciated. Thanx</p>

No problems here making a zipped NK.nb1.
What configuration were you trying to make?

Looks like there is a problem with the operaor Config Data......
Maybe cooking without Autoconfigdata will work fine.
Just try it...

pdhenry & LumpiStefan thank you for the replies. I have tried to cook a ROM w/ & w/o auto config. & using .exe & SD methods, and it didn't help. I just tried it again w/o auto config., and got the same error. :?

Hi there,
YEs I'm getting the same problem with the Kitchen.javascript:emoticon(':?:') javascript:emoticon('')

Hi everybody,
I tried many things to find a solution(w/without firewall, different browser) but so far, I'm getting the same message and the same result.
/mkrom.sh: ../../kitchen.local/mkrom-inc.sh: No such file or directoryno files for configid 26220739Cannot fit files in given sectionsError splitting files
Any others people who got the same message in the past?
Thanks,

Hi Budney,
HAve you found any solution yet?
Could you tell me what are you using as browser?
Cheers,

Wow. I'm still not having problems. :? Running IE6 on windows XP (don't know what effect the browser would have - sounds like it would be a problem on the kitchen side).
Last night I cooked a vanilla 3.17.03 ROM, this morning a 4.00.16 ROM without problems. I didn't try to download and save them, but mkrom ran and completed normally in both instances.

tiluc - I am still having the same problem with cooking 3.17.03 ROMs. I think pdhenry is right, it's on the kitchen side.
pdhenry - I am running what you are XP & IE6. Were those ROMs you cooked .exe or SD? As the 3.17.03 .exe ROMs will complete, but when I run them I get that 007 ERROR meesage.

They were SD roms, and I didn't try downloading/installing them - just runnng the kitchen until it told me it was finished.

Lucky you. But lucky for me I did get two ROMs completed, they were on the plain side though. Right after I tried the first plain ROM I tried two more ROMs with a lot programs in them, but they both didn't work. I then tried another plain ROM, and it worked. So I would think that it's one of the programs that is messing up the ROMs. :?

That would be consistent with the "no such file or directory" messages you're getting. I guess it'stime for some experimenting...

I remeber a thread telling that you have to leave a certain amount of memory free when you cooking the ROM, I think it was around 200 KB or so. Try to uncheck some add-on software to keep, let's say 250 KB free (see the info next to green bar) and try again. It should work with any of the ROM versions.

sharkhan - I think you are correct. As I just tried cooking one up & left 250 KB open, and it was successful.

Cannot find the ROM image to upgrade your Pocket PC.

I am trying to upgrade my Siemens SX56 to ROM 3.17 from Yorch.net,
I did the following:
1. Backed up the current ROM using OSImageTool.exe
2. Downloaded ROM 3.17 from Yorch.net in a .exe file format
3. Clicked on the downloaded .exe and I get the following error message:
Cannot find the ROM image to upgrade your Pocket PC. Please download and try again.
Please help, I am a newbie!
1st mistake...DONT USE AN EXE to upgrade. Use the sd card method. Otherwise you will be screwed.
When I select zipped NK.nb1 (SD-card flashing) I get the following error:
./mkrom.sh: ../../kitchen.local/mkrom-inc.sh: No such file or directoryno files for configid 26220739Cannot fit files in given sectionsError splitting files
From what you posted it appears theres a problem within the Kitchen,
try back later!
HTH
Where else can I get 3.17 , the only kitchen I found was Yorch.net
Now the log shows:
adding: NK.nb1zip I/O error: No space left on device
zip error: Output file write failure (write error on zip file)

I'm guessing that the kitchen needs to have old results purged occasionally (possibly manually?).
Strange I used it earlier to get stock ROMs and I did all of them with no problem. Hmmm

You can use the XDA developers Special Edition ROM v1.2 its based on the same ROM.

Ignore my last post. I went back and was able to cook a 4.00.16 ROM, so it's not a server disk space issue (like the error message made me think).
And I just cooked a 3.17.03 ROM. Guess it might be back.
Thanks a lot guys, I'm still trying with no success. :x
I just realized Vallerhum has the setup I want, I also have a Siemens SX56 on ATT. Where did you get your ROM?
I got it from Jeff's kitchen before it went south. I am trying to get my own up for I have all of the ROMs to date.
Is your phone also unlocked?
How can I get your ROM? I am going to another country on Friday and need to unlock it before then so I can show off to my friends
No my phone is not unlocked. I am not planning on changing companies anytime soon but if you want to unlock it...just load the 3.17 rom or if you have ppc2002 just install the xda unlocker and then install the ppc2003 rom of your choice. However, always use the sd card method, dont use an .exe.
I was able to cook a ROM! This site is great: http://www.zensay.com/qtek/ceupgrade.html
Thanks all for your help!
Now, I'm playing around with other stuff and seeing If my unlock was successfull.
That site is not a kitchen. It is for teaching how to do an SD card ROM upgrade. Where did you cook (or download) your ROM? Cooking is the customization of ROMs with other softwares.

Copy files from ROM ?

Hi,
I'm trying to get around the problem of the quiet sound with the AT&T rom, I have another XDA running the latest T-Mo rom and was hoping to mess around with some dll's from the TMo rom to see if I could sort the problem, but the drivers used for the sound are protected somehow in the rom, so it won't let me copy them to my SD card or PC (which means I can't try it on the AT&T rom)
Is there any way of copying these files out ? and then into the AT&T rom ??
Cheers
Neil
see dumprom
No good for me then, I only have Windows Machines here..
Ok, I have thought of a possible work around, but I need someone with the T-Mobile WM2003 Rom (Pref 4.01.16) & Linux/Unix to copy the wavedev.dll & waveapi.dll from the \Windows folder and send them to me so it can try it out..
I'm sure its not only me that this "feature" annoys. it makes Tomtom especially useless on the voice prompt side of things.
Cheers
Neil
?? I don't see the problem, dumprom is a windows tool.
in case you had not found it yet, I added the link to the binary to the wiki page.
Ah right, excellent.
Sorry I assumed it was the same as the makerom tool which states its unix/linux.
-=edit=- I just tried the link on the dumprom wiki page, and get the dreaded 404 error
Thanks
Neil
oeps. a common wiki error, I forgot to '~'-escape the '~' in the url.
Thanks mate, it seems to be working now
I'll have a play about with it when I get home.

Back again
The dumprom app crashes (tried on two machines) when I try to execute it. I have tried it with various command line configuations but the little windows xp error box pops up saying that the program must be closed

Hi Swifty
Yeah I got this too - until I realised that I was the problem. I was omitting the myrom.nb1 filename (or whatever you have called yours) from the command line! D'Oh! What is your exact command line that you use?
it is known to be buggy and crash on certain roms.
I am working on an improved version in perl - dumpxip.pl
but it does not extract files stored as 'xip' yet.
Silly me I done the same thing as you and omitted the rom file.. thanks
I have now extracted the AT&T and TMobile roms and compared the files, the AT&T's wavedev.dll is larger in size, I think this is where the modifications were made.. but I can't rebuild the TMo version into the AT&T rom because I don't use linux
Hopefully someone can help me out and we will finally have a perfect WM2003 Rom -=edit=- IF it works

Neil,
Use CYGWIN it's an excellent "Linux running as a command line in Windows" environment. It's easy to install, start and run commands. It comes up as a DOS box-like interface and Voila! You have Linux, stable, clean and fast, including the ability to build ROMs.

ROMkitchen are out of date..... Who wants to change????

Hello XDA users....
I think you know it all, that the ROMkitchen is a fine application to get our device nearly perfect.
But the ROMkitchen is out of date. This means many applications aren´t not in the actual version. Therefore Auburnham and I thought to update the applications.
The problem is, that the amount of added applications to the kitchen is to big to make this happen by us two. Because of this problem I´m searching for some people, which wants to help.
Another problem is, that you need for this a device that haven´t got installed that piece of software. This means that when you want to help me with Phonext for example, you must have a device without any version of Phonext installed.
So, if you are going to help me make a snapshot of your device with the ssnap - Application.
Install the software.
Make again an Snapshot of your device with the ssnap - Application.
Send these two files to [email protected] with inforamtion about the program you have installed and the exact Version you have installed.
When I´ve got analyzed the two files i will reply to you with a wishlist of files that have been created on your device. After sending me the files, i can update the kitchen....
IF there are any quesions or anything else, feel free to contact me....
Regards
Stefan
Good Idea :
I'd be happy to contribute.
Tell me which application you want me to install and I'll do it provided that I find the procedure (that I've seen being posted elsewere in this forum).
NB : I'm using XDA I with a Frenchy 3.16 and be stuck with it  ; so there is no chance for me to re-build a new a geniun 3.16 Rom again.
My XDA is all up and running.
I've overcome my Language FRA error message after purchasing a SD card reader and loading the ROM through the bootloader. 8)
Now, I'm about to install ttn 3 on my XDA. Do you want list it in your kitchen ?

I don't want to make this any more complicated than it is, but for some programs, it just doesn't make any sense to install to the XDA memory. Most of the media players and "Misc" programs just take up too much unnecessary device memory when they would work just as well on the SD Card (if that's available).
The problem is that those huge programs require just a few small files to be placed on the device itself. So after installing a few of these types of programs, you've used up a lot of device memory from these small files, even though you installed the program to your SD Card.
Is there a way to alter the kitchen a bit to allow cooking of the necessary device files only, and allow the user to later install the program to the SD Card (being careful not to overwrite the files in ROM with files in RAM)?
For instance, with the TomTom program, if you start with a clean ROM and SD card, take a snapshot, then install the program to your SD card, then take another snapshot, you could determine what files need to be on the device, and what files don't need to be on the device, and allow users to either cook the entire program or just the necessary files in the ROM. (Note: This is a good example of a run-on sentence). Would this be a difficult feature to add to the kitchen?

Maybe the esiest Option is adding a new Select Point for the kitchen like "misc", "System Tools", "Phone" ....
This means having the programs double in the kitchen, but how cares.
I don't know exactly, but when you install a program to the SD-Card, could you select the part where to place it?
If yes, this could be a big problem. Many of the programs store the path in the registry.
If no, i could also provide a ZIP-file, where the rest of the programfiles are in, hust to unzip to the Storagecard.....

I believe this really depends on (1) how well the program was written, and (2) if you can install the program with CabInst (i.e. has a cab installation).
For example, I try to keep my SD Card organized and tidy so if I use CabInst I install the program to an appropriate folder on the SD Card. If I have to install the program from the desktop, I install the program to the SD Card root, then try to move the program to an appropriate folder and update the shortcut. Most of the time this works without even changing any registry entries, but sometimes it doesn't. Two examples from the above list of applications are AOL Instant Messenger 2.0 and Pocketmind PocketMusic 3.0. To function correctly, they both need to be in their original installation folders on the SD Card.
But perhaps the best solution would be to have an associated .zip file to go on the SD Card, as you suggested.
Shawn
Now the kitchen should be up 2 date again.
Only missing is PocketConsole and the Part "Software that needs to register"
So happy cooking and again Thx a lot to all users that helped me.....
Stefan
A Windows-way for cooking a ROM would be great for two reasons: 1) Don't hassle your server with lots of traffic and 2) Practical. Advanced users could cook a ROM without having a PC with Unix.
For example I tried cooking the Spanish version of the ROM and not all the programs I chose were installed and the worst thing is that the boot logo was just garbage, it was showing program code on the screen as a logo

Ok. Fixed the problem with the bootscreen.....
Tried also adding as much application, and all have been installed.
Can you tell me, what files / programs are missing?
No one else told me that there have been a problem wirth this ROM. I think it's because of the situation that most of the useres are using WM2003 ROMS....
You can also use the kitchen under "Windows" just have to set up a Cyguin environment on your system....
Also i didn't know how many Kitchen's are implemented by other users, but mine one is the only "official". You can't believe that everyone would be able to set it up.......

Thanks Stefan!!!!!!
Now it seems to work but if EzWAP is selected, it throws a Log error when trying to cook...

Aplication to patch any Magician ROM to bigStorage ones!!

If you want to patch any ROM like the one of Alex Anansky...
...download my aplicatión and do it now!!
It's so easy... read the instructions in the file "HowTo.txt".
Bye ;-)
Something tells me that something's fishy here.
Some guy from nowhere with only 4 posts comes up with a "breakthrough" utility and doesn't give any explanation but "download my aplicatión[sic]... Bye!"
The attachment's removed now (not by me).
OK... you lose it...
If somebody want's it... Follow this...
http://www.todophonedition.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=4808#4808
It's a spanish site about PhoneEdition PDA's... I moderate the programing forum.
Bye
MKS,
could you explain more on how it works!
I apologize if I sounded harsh, but this site has gone through a lot of problems from individuals repeatedly deleting things off the FTP, spamming or advertising for porn in the threads, and more.
This site needs to be moderated or protected a little better if it's going to thrive. It needs good people with good understanding, patience, and the willingness to share so we can get things that our manufacturers are not providing properly.
So, thank you for the attachment and link as I will test it out shortly.
Now come on, tell us something about you and how you did it. Or did you only find it yourself? If so: where?
So with this i can add and remove any Ext rom i want?
If that so, then its great!! now i can add IIWPO and Ext rom?
Can i?
the strange thing is if i rename any file to rom.nb1 and run the program, it will create a file with the size of 63MB rom file... is that normal MKS?
Just remember that the NB1 file will have to be 64MB since your Magician/JAM's ROM size is 64MB and it will SD-flash everything, from the CE portion to the Radio to the Extended ROM and Storage area.
Oh! it is necessary to obtain a Microsoft Certificate to upLoad some aplicatións here?
OK... I do not send many mensages in this forum... but I have been reading it for a long time... watch my date of registry.
Well, first... The size of the file is correct. Magician ROM does not occupy exactly 64Mb.
When you download the ROM to one 64Mb SD card, a few bytes at the end are single to fill the SD size. But these bytes are not necessary.
The ROM really finishes in the string "HTCE" before arriving at the 64 Mb.
I have trimmed the resulting file to do it easier to handle.
OK...This is everything at the moment. This weekend I have much work... In the next week I tell more to you.
It is possible that I even sends the source code to you too
Bye.

Hi MKS,
I tried yr program on my Imate w/ Traditional Chinese "Dopod818_1110_153_11100_Ship" Rom and it doesn't work.
Steps that I did
1. Back up the Dopod TC rom to my 256mb SD using romupdate.exe w/ d2s command
2. use ntrw to write the rom on my hd
3. using yr program to modify the rom
4. write the modified rom back to the SD
5. The Jam report Section = 1 error and doesn't start the flash
6. Therefore, I copy the first 416 byte from the original Dodpod TC to the modified rom
7. The Jam start flashing. But after it reach 100%, it report download error and checksum error.
Now, I need to roll back to my original rom.......
Rgds,
Jack
Has anyone successfully used this to make a bigstorage ROM?
im having trouble backing up my original rom. after the the check sum ok part i took the sd card out of the phone and into a card reader. i run the ntrw read backup.nb1 f: and it gave me an error. it says "cyclic redundancy check" i see that on drive see it has created a file called backup.nb1 but it is 0 bytes. does anyone know what im doing wrong?

G'Reloc error...

I'm getting crazy over here...
from one moment my G'reloc does give me errors when applying.
It says:
Can not open file C:\Kitchen\SYS\***\***

I tried different G'Reloc.exe files and used different SYS-folders (even ones that worked before without any problems)
Can not cook roms anymore because they will not boot somehow...

Maybe the files you downloaded were corrupted. Try manually replacing the files, or just uninstall and reinstall the kitchen.

Ok I know a little bit more...:
I formatted my laptop and did a clean install of windows...
After that g'reloc worked again.
I installed all programs I always use on my pc again.
And today when I used G'reloc again I get the same error each time. Even if I use different locations or diffirent SYS folders (also ones I know they work!)
Which program or setting interacts with G'reloc???
Merten i don't use that program because i don't know what it does.
But i tryed to open it but i think i got the same error as you got.
Is it something like this: cannot open file (root\dir\imageinfo.bin).
And then you only have one option to click the ok button (this will exit the program)?
Know i tryed some other g'reloc programs what i got and the all gived me the same error pointing to the imageinfo.bin and then give me one option to click the ok button.
But there was one g'reloc program what did work and gived me no error.
I send a email to you with g'reloc.exe so it could be that it will give your virusscan some trouble because it is a .exe file I hope it will work for you.
I will back in some hours so i can't respons to your questions so fast.

Merten i don't use that program because i don't know what it does.
But i tryed to open it but i think i got the same error as you got.
Is it something like this: cannot open file (root\dir\imageinfo.bin).
And then you only have one option to click the ok button (this will exit the program)?

Thanx man for the effort. But I did not receive a thing... did you mail to:
[email protected]?
If your back maybe you can upload to rapidshare?
Thanx anyway!!
Well, I came across two things in PPCGeeks forum. People reported errors when they were running G'reloc on FAT32 en fixed it by changing to NTFS.
The other thing was that people reported a fix by just disabling their antivirus program. This might explain why it worked before you started installing all your programs on a clean windows install. I hope it works for you as well because I really like your roms
