I recently purchased an Unlocked T-mobile phone. My AT&T sim seems to work fine but I WANT voice command and the added speed.
on Yorch, I notice there are 3 choices
4.00.05 seems like a generic
4.00,10 A Tmobile release
4.00.16 Anothe Tmobile
I have heard that T-mobile builds have more truoble on AT&T network. should I go with .05? or will one of the T-mobiles work OK.
If I go with a T-mobile, should I still use the AT&T radio Stack?
Thanks,
Matt
ATT has the most stable radio stack so don't touch it. You can try each ROM if you like. Make sure you create a backup of your current ROM so you can go back just in case. Since those are all USA ROMS you can pick whichever one you one, your location in the USA has no effect. Personally, I like the generic ROM for it allows ATT to display the "G" which signifies internet capability. Plus, you have more room to cram in more apps. The Tmob ROMS are full of crap you won't use. Have fun.
Yea go with 4.00.05 I was going to suggest 4.00.11 but I see Jeff's ROM Kitchen is still offline. Also I agree valheru on keeping the AT&T RS.

Thanks for the feedback.
I think I'm running a T-Mobile Radio Stack. 6.18.00
Is this AT&T? or T-Mobile?
Uh, if you have the Tmobile radio stack then it is a Tmobile radio stack. Reboot your device and tell us what it says.
From the device settings it says : 6.18.00
Yeap thats a T-Mobile radio stack!
Also confirming you got that info. from going to Start, Settings, System, Device Information?
right, device information....
I tried to unzip the latest AT&T radio stack from Yorch.net, but it had a password. Any help there?

Hi
What is the latest radio upgrade for t-mobile and where can i get it.
My device info. :
Rom ver. : 3.14.40 ENG
Rom date: 11/26/02
Radio ver.:6.18
Protocol ver. :324e4
Thanks
u have the latest official tmo upgrade
What about unofficial one but 100% working without problems?
u can upgrade it to ATT radio stack if u want. however people had problems reverting back to TMO radio stack. u can upgrade the OS part to 2003 if u want and leave the radio stack as is.
is anybody have the original radio stack for TMO as a file? I am thinking of reverting from At&T stack.

As far as I know once you have gone ATT you can't come back....
OR, wait until T-Mobile releases their own upgrade
any word if they will release an upgrade and if so will it contain the radio stack. I found the At&t stack kind of buggy. Maybe it's just where I am but the GPRS will droput for no reason and then I loose voice also and it will not come back until I do a soft reset.

According to Lazarus ( an ATT Network Guru) the ATT radio stack has been tweaked and optimized for ATT's network, so that would explain why others have experienced trouble....
Oh shoot, I wish I have read this post before I upgrade to the ATT radio stack. Couldn't we simply download the latest ROM from T-Mobile and revert back to the T-mobile radio stack and rom?
I tried it just crashes right after it starts. It basically says that it can't upgrade because the radio stack you have is already higher. Guess we got to wait for TMo to release something higher. I am at A.20.10 and 4.00.01Eng for os.
Try running the "Adaptrom" program in your T-mobile application upgrade folder.

it has nothing to do with adaptrom. radio stack kicks in after u flash back the OS ROM
I'd keep the ATT stack
If you use the T-mobile (US) radio stack with windows mobile 2003, you don't get always on GPRS, so I'd stick with the ATT stack for now (and I have!).
cheers,

ATT radio works fine for me too. It is more that the network drops you or you lose data connection between cells, or the network has a load balance that give placement to voice users over data when bandwidth is needed. Not so much that your radio stack does it.
On the other hand just incase anyone wants to prove my theory wrong  has anyone in the US upgraded their radio stack to O2 4.21 and experienced a better performance than AT&T's radio stack :?: This means you probably already had to manually switch the default band 8) first?
Let me know I love to be wrong  ......I'm only that much smarter than I was yesterday
I think 4.21 would only work in Europe. You'll probably get no signal after you upgrade from At&t stack. I am going to stick with At&t i think I just got crappy coverage in the area that's all.
@amarandei
4.21 works great here in austria with t-mobile. i have gprs always on (on now since i rebooted 3 days ago).
and if it needs to be connected that works WAYS faster that before (with 2002 and 3.16)
converning speed i can't say anything positive nor negative. it just works. sometimes slower sometimes faster.

TMO radio stack installation
I have TMO radio version 6.02
I downloaded the latest update from TMO (US) which claimed it would upgrade the radio but it did not appear to update the radio stack. Could that be becaues I am running the developers rom and it thinks I have a more recent version? If so how can I update the radio stack without having to go back to the old rom first?
:?
I am dropping alot of calls and would like to try some different stacks.
I am running a T-mobile unit, with yorch's 4.00.5 ppc2003 load on an AT&T wireless network in southern California
I was thinking of trying the latest AT&T and T-mobile Radio stacks.
Can I move back and forth between them?
The Yorch Radio Stack zips are password locked. Am I missing a step?
Any advice?

Theoritically it's YES, but playing with the RSU is not an advice unless you are facing real problems (lose of signal, dropped calls, ... etc).
In all cases, you MUST take a SD backup (Radio+CE+boot) as there is always a risk to damage your ROM.
Tip: TMO 6.24 is a good choice.
Good luck

Hi
I just bought a Siemens SX56 which locked to AT&T wireless. I want to use this on T-mobile network with Windows Mobile 2003.
I read through several threads trying to figure what is the best way to get to my final state.
I see people discussing about two things "Radio Stack" and ROM.
I could not figure out if the radio stack is provider specific. Did not know if i can just upgrade both with the AT&T ROM.
Here is my current plan. Please help me in making sure that i am not going to end up with a brick.
1. Unlock the devicewith XDA2Unlock
2. Upgrade the device to WM2003 with the Siemens AT&T executable from siemens web site.
3. Put my T-Mobile sim card and use it on t-mobile network.
Would this work ?. What is the best way to get best reception on this PDA with t-mobile ?.
thanks

1. Your device is XDA I ... so the right tool is XDAunlock here www.xda-developers.com/XDAunlock/ and it will work only if you still have the PPC 2002 ROM on yoru device, other wise you will have to flash your device with the special edition ROM SER1.2 from the forum here as well.
2. The excutable contains both RSU and ROM. If your phone works fine don't touch the RSU. Get a cooked WM2003 ROM from the kitchen here and flash your device ROM only.
3. Try and let's know
Good luck
I'm a bit of a newbie myself, however I've been playing with both a TMobile and an AT&T PPCPE for the last few weeks.
Why are you putting the AT&T ROM on the phone - surely it would be best to put on the TMobile version so that it would have all the internet settings, etc.
-=Nick=-
Thanks for the reply.
I read somewhere that if my radio version if A33, i will not be able to use the XDAUnlock utility. Is that true. If that is true will i be able to unlock using any other process ?
I will be getting PPCPE this week. I am excited to get it up and running with my existing T-mobile SIM.
thanks
Hello,
How are you?
After finally managing to unlock my xda, it does not find any networks!
My ROM Version is 4.01.12 ENG
ROM date 12/22/03
Radio Version 6.24.00
Protocol version 324e4
Does anyone know of this problem?
Please help me.. I was so happy to unlock it and now i have run into this problem....
I have read that you shouldn't play with the gsm menu in the bootloader screen.. well i did play with them before i knew i shouldn't. Could this be the problem?
Is there a way to reset it?
Should I go to a different radio version?
Please help,
I live in France and I am on the french bouygtel network. I believe this is a 900/1800 gsm network.
Thank you,
monza

6.24.00 radio is for PWA10B1 and for 900/1900 networks only (for USA).
If you have a PWA10A1 model (check the back of your PDA), you should use 4.21.00 for 900/1800. Note: upgrading Radio Stack is very risky, do it for your own responsibility! So after you downgraded to 4.21, enter bootloader, press calendar button then select "900/1800" and soft reset.
You can get 4.21 radio stack from here:
http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/tools/RSU_V4.21_PPC.zip for the ppc install version and
http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/tools/RSU_V4.21.zip for the activesync version. I remind you, upgrading radio stack is risky!!
Search in the forums how to upgrade radio stack.
Oh, and entering bootloader makes a hard reset.
KTamas... Thank you very very very much...
Thank you very very very much.....
You are a god ;-)
It worked.
Compatibility of SEROM with Radio A.20.10
I had been asking a similar question elsewhere in the forum.
Given these device specs,
ROM Version : A.21.02 ENG
ROM date: 10/17/03
Radio Version : A.20.10
Protocol version : 324e4
Carrier : AT&T GSM/GPRS in the USA,
would you know if the version of the Special Edition ROM v1.2 available on this site (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/SpecialEditionROM) should be compatible with this radio stack or not? I would not want to do a RS up/downgrade if I can avoid it.

Using a T-Mobile on European GSM
I've just acquired a T-Mobile (unlocked) and want to use it in New Zealand, which has a European setting, 900/1800. The T-Mobile is a PW10B1, which I think is setup to operate on a different frequency.
Can I swap the radio stack to operate on my local GSM network, or will I fry the PDA.
If I do swap the radio stack, and it fails - is there a ROM which I can use to rebuild the PDA with instructions on how to do this (URLS and links would be VERY much appreciated!)
Thanks, Hamish

PWA10B1 is for 900/1900 ONLY. You cant swap radio strack - if your provider works on 900 mhz, then you have to use it on that freq.
T-Mobile in NZ (from Canada)
Thanks for the reply.
Since then, I've installed a v4 radio stack (as described earlier in this thread) and the system does boot, but won't see my PC for Active Sync and also won't see the network.
I'm downloading the official T-Mobile ROM which I hope I can use, but if activesync won't work, any suggestions as to how to get the ROM loaded?
Also, is there a utility to select the network bandwidth, as there wasn't one already on the device - and I'm beginning to get a little concerned now!
Many thanks for your time so far!

You can choose 900/1800 or 900/1900 from the bootloader, press/hold power while pushing reset with stylus, then when screen appears, push the button below the antenna, choose your appropriate band and from there, for model A choose 900/1800 for model B choose 900/1900. Make sure you have a working backup of your data when using this method.
Using a T-Mobile on European GSM
Thanks for your help.....I managed to get it into bootloader, but was pressing the contacts button (left) rather than the right (calendar).
I now have managed to get the device to see the local 900MHz network, so it's functioning !
Your help has been much appreciated!

T-Mobile have released a new ROM for their MDA, which can be downloaded from T-Mobile here.
No exact details are available as to what is changed but users are reporting improvements in:
- "G" icon replaced by an "E" icon indicating EDGE connections.
- Hold down the wireless button toggles between silent/vibrate mode and ringer-on mode.
- Signal acquiring issue resolved.
- A2DP implemented.
- Startup time is much faster after a soft-reset
- Signal strengh is more reliable and stronger
- Reduced sync times
- Enhanced Communications Manager
- "Lock/Unlock Device" item added to Today screen
- Changes to Signal indicator on top bar
- New Network Connection Settings added
Plus is reportedly upgrades the machine to AKU2.3.
sweet... but don't i have to do some crazy thing to my MDA to beable to get this ROM on there? I heard updating the ROM is hard
I am running this ROM, and I can tell you it is not too hard to do. Start by downloading lokiwiz from here.
Specific directions are included in that thread, but it is as simple as copying the enable RAPI cab to your device and running it, and then connecting the usb cable to the computer and running lokiwiz. do both the Super CID and the SIM unlock now (this may not be nessesary if your device is a t-mobile MDA, but it is best to just do it now, just in case...)
Once you are unlocked, it is as simple as downloading the ROM, connecting the USB and doubble clicking the installer... Follow the prompts, and you have a new ROM
I personally am running the 2.26 T-mobile ROM, and I really like it... If you haven't upgraded from the stock rom, I would reccomend giving it a try.
I hope this helps... And If you have any questions please let me or someone else know... It is better to ask a stupid question than fry your wizard...
EDIT--- The link to Lokiwiz I posted is to an upgraded version that I don't know how to use, it appears it has been upgraded for the newer ROMS, but dosen't work the same as the older version... If you have an MDA I would try the upgrade without it.... SORRY

Yes it does Change Everything
IPL: 2.26
SPL: 2.26
ROM version: 2.26.10.2
ROM date: 6/7/06
Radio Version: 2.25.11
Protocol Version: 4.1.13.12
OS Build version: 14955.2.3.0
Don't know if you can adjust you topic title but there are a few threads already running in the "Wizard Upgrading" section.
You're talking about the T-Mobile 2.26 version. That's not realy new. So if anybody wan't some answers just check the "Wizard Upgrading" section. 'Cause that's where it should be
Ah damn! I just upgraded to 2.24, is it worth doing this uprgrade?
If I installed all my programs to my Memory Card will they still be on the program list or will I have to load them all up again?
CHEERS!

In previous stock TMO ROM, landscape mode with keyboard open popped up the virtual on-screen keyboard. I used NullKB to keep that from happening.
Now, with the new ROM released today, the virtual on-screen keyboard doesn't pop up in landscape mode.
Just checking with everyone else.

Yep, I've already did with xelencin's 2.24 T-Mobile rom from this site. One catch though there is a slight difference in the keyboard layout between the U.S. and U.K. but you can fix that by a reg. hack.
Use Total Commander and add the hack :
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locale = 0809 hex
I have a O2 XDA Mini S using the U.S. T- Mobile rom. I haven't upgraded to the new rom yet.

The link I believe is part of T-Mobile's parent company. If you login to your T-Mobile account and select MDA as your phone, then click the link "support for MDA" at the top of the screen it will take you to another screen which has the link "System Upgrade"
Kind of ironic, I was just browsing around before posting about where to find upgraded ROMs!
I'm running a UK Tmobile MDA Vario, but I'm in Canada. Just to be sure, if I download this ROM and then do the keyboard registry hack, I should be good right? I'm still on ROM version 1.6.2.4 WWE
Thanks!

You should be, I'm in the U.S. and won the UK device from www.4WinMobile.com . It was running software branded by the company O2, I flashed it with a U.S. T-Mobile Rom and haven't had any problems. The only real difference in all of the HTC Wizard devices is the Version of WM5 Rom your running and the Extended Rom put out by the company selling the device. (I am in no way an expert this is my understanding from what I have read,)
I hope to have time to upgrade to the new rom this weekend.
