GPRS symbol appears when in cradle?

Is it normal for the GPRS symbol to appear in the top taskbar when the XDA2 is in the cradle?
Is this using any GPRS traffic?
Also, can anyone recommend a good (preferably cheap/free) GPRS counter for the XDA2?
TIA!
sure it's ok. (if you allow your ppc to use the net connection through docking station via active sync.
why should the ppc use the slow gprs connection if the fast line of your pc is available as well.

Surfing 'net when in cradle

How do I set up a connection to surf the net whilst the XDA is in its cradle. It must be possible to get pocket IE to connect as programs like avantgo manage it.
any ideas?
if you pick mynetwork or what ever you called it in connections advanced
and you have not set up your activesync to block the pda from access to the net or your firewall to block your pda then it should happen automaticly
you need to pick my network insted of my isp or what ever it is you call your connection for GPRS

Navigating to a WAP site using WIFI

I am using my K-Jam to navigate to a WAP site (http://wap.tfl.gov.uk/planner/) but as soon as I do my phone ignores my WiFi connection and tries to use GPRS instead. Is there any way to stop this behavior?
Same problem here ! tryed the same.
have noticed you can not display pic's when on WAP sites.
Also . would like to know how to disconect the GPRS connection when it is connected. only way i know how is to connect to a different conection and then cancell it before it connects.
any help would be appriciated ! GPRS is costing about 2.35 per 1 meg .
thanks
to discon gprs hold down the red end call button for a few secs.
i am gettting annoyed with similer wifi/gprs problem
seems that if i have wifi on in the (like in the house) and i have it set to download from my exchange server then thats all well and good but when the phone goes into standby and the wifi auto turns off, the exchange activesync still happens but automatically changes and connects via gprs. the whole point was that as i was in my house i wouldnt need to use/waste money on gprs calls since i can use wireless.
I hope the I-mate developer read these forums and update the problems on a new rom update.
GPRS is costing me £2.35 per meg . But as far as i know I ( We ) only get charged for the info downloaded, if it is connected to a page that has loaded completely and is not downloading anything, there should be no extra charge even if connect to same page for hours.

Ask for confirmation before connecting to GPRS

Hi all,
I've got my Qtek 9000 since a week and it's a dream-device.
I've got a small "problem". When I connect through WiFi to the internet and I Sign-in to MSN, after a period, I disconnect and it often happens that my device automatically connects to GPRS (costs me €€!!) without asking me... :? I guess that's MSN who tries to connect again to the internet.
I was thinking about 2 different possible solutions, but they are only workarounds. I created a dummy GPRS-connection through IrDa that is set as default. When MSN want to connect now, it does not cost me €€
I could also use a Taskmanager to kill the MSN en Internet Explorer after using WiFi, but isn't there a clean way to ask before connection to GPRS?
Thanks in advance!
Sam
Try using an app manager or menu system (I use SmallMenu from Tillanosoft) to kill MSN PROPERLY - using the WM5 "ok" button merely puts it into the background so it'll still attempt to connect.
the dummy GPRS connection is a reasonable idea though.
You could use "GB-SOFT Tweak". It has an option to "Turn off GPRS if device not used for xxxx (h:m)" and another one to show a disconnect button in the GPRS bubble.
That way you can choose when to turn GPRS off. Saved me some €€ already

Help me setup Emails on my MDA Vario. O2 network,

Hi,
Im on o2 PAYG.
I installed all the O2 settings and it connects to O2 GPRS ( or so it says ). But it just displays "Connecting in the bottom right corner".
After about 30 seconds it says, 'Messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile. Make sure you are connected and that your email account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again'.
I'm positive my emails settings are correct but not my internet settings.
Please help with cherries on top
Thanks
