NHB extracting problems with 7zip and winrar

im trying to extract the nhb file from the open touch biggie ver 4.0. im on my last step and ive been looking around all day on how to extract that file. i have 7 zip and winrar and ive tried to use both but they would not work (i mean im know doin something right, lol) ive been reading all day because im reluctant to ask on here but i need help. what am i donin wrong. i read the noobs guide, the wiki guide and just bout every guide on here so please if you know can u help me. i just need this last step to finish my first flash
you downloaded the file, right? you should open the zip/rar file with 7zip or winrar. Then, drag/extract the file to your hardspl/uspl folder
yea i did dl it...that must be the step that i am missing dragging it to the hard spl folder. i used winrar to extract the files from the folder. then when the box comes up with the file drag it to the hard spl folder, then click that ruu folder? i think i might have to go back a re-read that last step because ive been so focused on getting that file out that i forgot what to do. thanks in advace for answering me
problem fixed. i was overthing things..after i downloaded the biggie file i extracted the file using 7 zip then i drug the file (nhb) and put it in the rom utility folder and ran it. problem solved this site is great. hopefully whoever else is searching for this problem finds this andit helps

If you're wanting the most simple method, just use Unrevoked which can be found here : http://unrevoked.com/recovery/
Make sure you uninstall htc sync software if you have it installed and use the special hboot drivers from here : http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/windows_hboot_driver_install with instruction on how to install and a link for the driver download.

[Q] Problem with rom files

There is two zip files on Quarx dev-host page one named CM10-20130110-NIGHTLY-mb526.zip.md5sum and the other named CM10-20130110-NIGHTLY-mb526.zip. Which one should i use to update my motorola defy (MB525)? Could anyone help me please
The zip file is the ROM and the md5sum file is the check sum file to ensure the zip file is complete and clean without download errors.

READ THIS GUIDE.
Entirely. Learn how to do the things you need to do before you mess with your phone.
And consider this a lesson learned.

you messed with your phone despite having NO idea how to flash it? help me understand this
The instructions are as SIMPLE as it's going to get for you... there is no easier way. If you can't follow those directions, you're out of luck.

I got the first past but not the rest, this section:
1. How To Flash The Factory Images (And Return To Stock)
Prerequisites: unlocked bootloader (section 1).
This section will explain how to return the phone to be like it was when it came out of the box. This will wipe everything from the phone. If you wish to flash the factory images without wiping your personal data from the internal storage please move on to the next section.
Go to Settings/Backup & Reset and perform a factory data reset. This will remove all of your user data from the device (apps, settings, photos, music, etc).
Download the appropriate factory images for your model here.
Unzip the angler-xxxxxx-factory-xxxxxxxx (x's replace variables) into a directory on your PC (for this guide we'll use C:\angler\).
Once unzipped you should have a folder named angler-xxxxxx (x's replace variables). Open it and move the following files to a new directory named C:\angler\images\:
bootloader-angler-angler-xx.xx.img
radio-angler-angler-xx.xx.img
(Please note that radio and bootloader naming changes from build to build so the filenames and below commands will change with them)
Within C:\angler\angler-xxxxxx\ you'll see another zip archive named image-angler-xxxxxx, unzip the contents of that zip into the C:\angler\images\ folder we created before. Now within C:\angler\images\ you should have the following files:
android-info.txt
boot.img
bootloader-angler-angler-xx.xx.img
cache.img
radio-angler-angler-xx.xx.img
recovery.img
system.img
userdata.img
Honestly if you going to be a **** about it for no reason, then forget it. I'll wait for someone else.
be a ****? I gave you the guide w the instructions.
That's how it's done. It's all there in the instructions. This is how you flash the factory image to the phone.
You dont like that? You shouldnt have messed w the phone. How am I being a **** in any way?
Bump. Downloading the first factory zip file. THings that are working for me are, adb, fastboot, twrp and I have one factory zip file.

That's probably for the best. Do some learning before you decide to attempt modifying your device again, then there's much less chance of being in a mess like this again. You need to know what you're doing, and honestly, using a toolkit to get out of this mess may have fixed the problem for you but it's done so without you actually learning anything in the process, meaning you're just as clueless as when you got into this situation. My guide is pretty clear, all you need to do is read it and follow the instructions and you pretty much can't go wrong. And I'm always there to help.
Glad to here you were able to fix it. Remember to always backup your files first before doing anything and do not feel bad for messing your phone. You followed a guide and you messed up a little but were able to fix it. That's how you learn . One does not master by not making any mistake; to learn is to make a mistake. Cheers.
