If you delete the value "MountFlags" (dword:00000001 == 'hidden filesystem') from the key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\TRUEFFS_DOC], this 16MByte disk gets mounted as '\Extended_ROM'.

help
Hi sorry to trouble you, but i want to remove some files from the extended rom mainly the files related to Hijri and prayer times. How can I do that? Is there a way to add the ppt and pdf files on the rom?
Best regards,
Gilbert

I think, if you can just delete corresponding files from Extended ROM it will do the trick.

how
how do i access extended rom to delete files?

Snip from the main page of this website
The other 16 MB of the disk-on-chip holds a whole bunch of CAB files which are executed one by one by a small app called 'autorun.exe' on the same disk. All the operator-installed software is here. This means that cold boot takes forever, but also that we're likely to see separate upgrades from HTC (the base 32 MB) and from the providers. (I can understand HTC got tired of the way they did it before). The disk with all the provider CAB files on it is not visible to the user, but does show up on the device driver level as DISK1. (the user-disk is DISK2). If you delete the value "MountFlags" (dword:00000001 == 'hidden filesystem') from the key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\TRUEFFS_DOC], this 16MByte disk gets mounted as '\Extended_ROM'.

can you tell how I can get those Extended Rom files for I-mate from you? if possible, you can email them or I can pick them up from a website/ftp.

I haven't played around to edit the ROM, so can't help with adding stuff to it, but you can always install the apps to your Main Memory or Storage.
To delete the cabs located in Extended Storage, install a Registry Editor (a free one is at www.phm.lu), follow instructions on www.xda-developers.com/xda2, after editing registry reset machine and then you can delete those files from Extended ROM via File Explorer.

Creating custom ROM image

Hey,
Thanks for creating xda-developers edition rom image. I just installed it on my t-mobile xda and it rocks. I would like to create my own rom image and have couple of questions.
I downloaded and installed mkrom tools and was able to compile new rom. I looked through the readme file, cfg files and file1 and file2 directory and was trying to see how u put ezwap2 in there. I found references to it in the default.reg file as well as the init* file. However I was unable to find ezwap2.exe in files1 and files2 directory of the mkrom. am i missing something?
Also I'm trying to install a registered copy of pocketbackup into the ROM image and was wondering if anybody has done it so i can see the example of how to do it?
What tools do u use to open the .cab files to see what's inside on the windows side not pocketpc side?
How do u check what changed on the pocketpc?
Is it possible to use the emulator for testing or does it have to be tested on regular device? i'm not talking about the ROM image itself but all the work before creating the image (like inserting files, registry entries, etc.)
Thanks for info,
alex
you can extract the ezwap files from an original o2 rom, by running
Code:
perl opimg2dir.pl NK.nbf newop.cfg newop
( newop must be an existing directory )
then copy the ezwap files manually to either files1, or files2
you can open .cab files using winrar. the filenames will appear corrupted, but usually one of the files will contain the original filenames if you look at it with a hexeditor.
to view changed, we use 'ssnap.exe', to take snapshots of file and registry state. and compare the snapshots using diff, or windiff, or vim.
if you are creating an image for an ARM based device, it wont run on the emulator.
thank you for replying. so ezwap2.exe was a part of the O2 rom that's why it doesn't appear in the files2 directory of mkrom package. is it possible to use mkrom with At&t or T-mobile roms?
also i noticed when i activate my phone part and dial a number it appears as a string xxxxxxxxxx, when i was running my T-mobile rom it would dial as (xxx) xxx-xxxx . is it possible to change phone application in ur rom to behave same way as my t-mobile did?
one more thing, can i install applications into program files from files1 or files2 directories or do they only go into windows directory?

If you set the country code to '1', you should see the number in US format again. It's in the registry:
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Phone]
"CountryCode"=dword:00000000
thanks for a quick reply.
I just changed the value in the registry to '1' and rebooted my xda. when i dial the numbers they still appear as xxxxxxxxxx instead of (xxx) xxx-xxxx. did i miss something?
thanks

opimg2dir.pl nk.nbf x y
what's the x for?
thanks
alex
i just tried extracting the NK.nbf file on a different PC and had the same problem as before.
found at 01bc0000
hdr: 00000000 00000000 00000000
I'm using the NK.nbf file from Jeff's download of the already compiled image. is this ok or should i use original rom image?
also i noticed on ur code is the reference to x or (newop.cfg) should that file contain anything in it?
thanks
alex
help requested.
XDA developer Itsme,
i'm little confused as to the proper way of adding applications to the ROM.
do u have an example or steps needed to insert a program. I tried following the readme file but got little confused. i tried to update the ezwap application to version 2.5 and basically i couldn't find ezwap.exe in files1 and files2. is the mkrom.zip file contain everything needed for the rom? does the rom itself has the ezwap in it? let me see if i got this right:
1) add files to files1 or files2 directory. any registry entries created by the application should go into default.reg?
is it possible to copy the files to program files directory or do they only go into \windows?
thanks for the help
alex

TomTom 5.21 Today' Plugin is Missing ??

I'm missing the Today's Plugin on my Wizard.
The original CD 5.0 won't install. I copy the CAB from the CD into my Wizard and install them from there.
The 5.21 update is not complete (no GPS, no Todays plugin, only the TomTom Program himself)
But i'm missing the Today's Plugin ?
is any one have this Cab only ?
Thanks
It seems to be part of the wzd.cab file in the 2577 folder
If you need it I let me know and I will email it to you
if it's the wizzard for 5.21 then ok send it to me please
Version 5.21 has all of the components in the ttn.cab file. That's why it is a lot larger than usual; for some reason they packaged all of the stuff into that single cab file (excluding the tiny cab which creates the directory, of course).
Ok can you pm me an email address, I've tried sending it on here by pm but it wont work

Unkown file format

I Recently got my uni, and found some thing interesting thats filling up my free space... Tons of files whith dsm and rgu extensions, they are small but there are a lot of them (40+). And they have generated long file names like 02e2bf3e-b98c-9a5b-39f9aec47f7f.dsm
Any1 knows what are these files?
k, i've just count these files and there are 218 of them and taking away 1 MB
.rgu files are registry files (in Unicode format). I don't know about .dsm files, as I don't have a hex editor handy.
have you resently installed any new software
i've checked some of the rgu files, and i found my uni's default registry settings... And no, i haven't installed anything except Resco File Explorer 2005
If these r registry files i would suggest u to not play with them .

@Greywolf_Ghost
this is the main link " http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=95626&d=1214519845"
if you can install this cab then replace cpr and xml file with atached file
farzad23
Thank you!!!!!!!!
I know you said not your work, just a re-write of some files....however this looks fantastic!!!!
Your re write worked a charm.....
I should be able to also do a background for the AM and PM to show...
as right now you have to set time format to 00:00:00 ( reagonal settings)
Not 00:00:00 am/pm
I thought I could fix it.....and I did.
I don't like a 24h clock, and if I change clock to show 2:00 PM if off sets clock and background.
So I show 02:00 PM and have moded a png to have numbes line up and am or pm show......

[Q] WINCE 6.0 rom modifying on non-PDA

I do have a device Microsoft VoIP phone (Tanjay - CX700 manfactured by Polycom) which is powered by Microsoft Windows CE (mostly ver 6.0)
microsoft releases it's firmware update file as cab file while contain two files
CPE.NBT (the bin file XPRS compressed) 17MB
CPE.CAT
i have managed to extract the files of the ROM using bincompress.exe to decompress bin XPRS bin file (CPE.NBT) then i used dumprom.exe whiched works and could manage to extract all OS & application files, i just need to replace a font file then compile back again to BIN
i have three questions here:
1.is there any way to compile the package again or replace the font file without extract the orginal package ?
2.is there any way to get access to the Device windows CE as the default application starts after booting prevent any access to the windows CE desktop or any other wince tools ?
3. is there any way so i can build a package with the replacement font file and give to the device as firmare update file ?
your help will be appreciated :good:

1) If you can USB-connect the device with your desktop, means can establish a so-called ActiveSync connection, then you can access device's Windows CE
2) If you know which file in SD-card's root is processed by the device when device boots, then you can access device's Windows CE

IMHO no need to re-flash device in oder to change/add a font, this because user-defined font files must not be located in ROM, but in a location defineable by user. You have to copy the font files to device (preferred internal storage device) and afterwards simply edit some keys/entries in Windows CE registry, means redirect fonts path there to.

i dont have access to the device file system by any means, the device boots and start the default application and no way to exit the default phone applications.
