Hello,
you can choose what you want to see in Today's Screen.
Go to : Start --> Settings --> Today
in bottom clic on "elements", and choose that you want to see or not.
clic on "OK" to save settings.
Bye,
garou
or if you really want your today screen to be empty then try this app out; called no plugins today. just install the cab and you can put the app icon on your start menu. clicking it will hide everything on your today screen leaving it with the theme or pic you use. clicking it again will have your today plugins reappear. cheers
Hello:
Anyone know hoe to put application shortcuts straight onto the today screeen??
I already have claunch for myself, buy am setting up a simple system for mum on an older unit. I was hopinh to get a shortcut to the simpler apps like contacts straight on the today screen.
I know if you install tomtom you get an option in the today list to show tomtom on the list - This is similar to what I want (but not tomtom)
any ideas?
I use Pocket Plus from SPB. It's a great little app that also includes repeating alerts and an option to make the 'close' button really quit the app and not just hide it in background. All highly configureable. Check out Handango for a trial and purchase.
I use cLaunch. It works great and is VERY configurable! AND it's freeware!
I use the following group-settings to get four full sized icon on each "page":
Icon size =32
Icon name enabled
Icon width = 48
Icon name at bottom
Icon name height = 14
Icon margins = 1 hor. and vert.
Window margin = 0
I have enabled "Tap empty space to advance to next group" so that I can page through the icon groups easily.
(edit: didn't catch that you already tried this app! Anyway try my settings. I can't imagine a simpler way to launch from the today-screen. BTW I have turned of the menu bar also because I just use a few icon (four in each group) just like you seem to want too.)
Another option is PHM Pocket Power Tools (or is it Toys?). It has a TrayLaunch application, which allows shortcuts to be placed in it and it displays at the bottom of the Today screen - where the NEW menu item is located. It's freeware as well.
yep: your setting worked great, thanks for the help - I never though of configuring cLaunch like that.
Got an exec, installed in Basic Mode, and evey time I reboot, I get the above mesage.. any thoughts?
You need to remove three files from the "\Windows\Startup" folder.
Active.lnk - causing the message you mentioned
Connections.exe.lnk
BatteryNFO.lnk - if you don't want the O2 battery icon on the top bar. If you take out o2 battery Icon, you can re-activate the standard battery icon (in the bottom right corner) with the following registry key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\Power]
"ShowIcon"=dword:00000001
If set to "0", this icon is disabled - for use when the o2 one is active.
Cheers - trying all that now....
~EDIT: Worked an absolute treat, thanks!
Included with this POST there are 3 EXE files:
cerdisp2.exe (PPC program, windows icon)
KillProc.exe (ppc program, no icon)
Remote Display.exe (pc program, windows icon)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you DON'T trust these (or aren't registered with xda-developers), you can download them yourself from Micro$oft, else GOTO step 1.
Click to:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...d6-1dcc-47aa-ab28-6a2b006edfe9&DisplayLang=en
Or search on google for:
Windows Mobile Developer Power Toys
Download and install from this page:
WindowsMobilePowerToys.msi
In the folder
C:\Program Files\Windows Mobile Developer Power Toys\ActiveSync_Remote_Display\devices\wce400\armv4t
you will find the first two EXE files and in
C:\Program Files\Windows Mobile Developer Power Toys\ActiveSync_Remote_Display\
you will find the third. (I renamed it to 'Remote Display.exe', but it's the same file)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Instructions for Remote Display on WM5
1. Make an Active Sync connection between your PC and PPC
2. Click the 'Explore' button in Active Sync
3. Browse to you PPC's '\WINDOWS' folder
(this is usually done by first double clicking on 'My Windows Mobile-Based Device',
which brings you to the root directory, where the windows folder is located)
4. Copy 'cerdisp2.exe' and 'KillProc.exe' to your PPC '\WINDOWS' folder
5. Execute the 'Remote Display.exe' on your PC
A popup will appear that "The OS or CPU of this device is unknown to this application"
6. disregard this by clicking 'OK'
(If your firewall complains about the connection being made, click the 'UNBLOCK' option)
On your PPC display the usal message "This program is from an unknown publisher...."
will appear (only on first the first run)
7. Tap 'YES' op your PPC
DONE!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can now controll your PPC from the PC. Use your keyboard (also arrows work) and your mouse!
It will be slow and sluggish, nothing we can do about that!
extra keys:
F1 - Left softkey
F2 - Right softkey
F3 - Green Button
F4 - Red Button
F6 - Volume up
F7 - Volume down
F8 - *
F9 - #
` - Standby
HOME - windows button

262 views in 22 hours, but not one reply? My explanation must be very clear!
-I have one question: What are the 'empty icons' in the traylaunch area? One is added after every run of the remote display programm.
Anybody have an explanation or a solution?
thanks!
Works good, thank you.
nice post
Thanks for the instructions, I use Pocket Controller Pro from SOTI** which gives me absolute Controll plus a few more nice Options.
But for a "freebie" this is nice.

Excellent post mate.
All it needs is to be a tad faster and support the screen rotation when the camera kicks in.
Then with a wireless Activesync connection, WiFi camera.
This works great...a tad slow, but no other issues, and I don't have empty tray launch icons...

What i mean with empty tray icons is:
When you make the connection, the cerdisp2.exe starts up on the wizard. You see this happen, because there is a popup, and a tray icon. Once you close the connection, and make it again I notice this tray icon has moved one position to the left. This happens after each time you close and reopen the connection.
Btw. [email protected] on the modaco site did experience the same thing in 2005:
The only caveat is that you seem to get the remote display icon (windows logo in a circle) in the notification area (where the battery and screen rotation icons are) one position to the left each time you stop and start the remote display. No big deal, but can look a bit weird after you've stopped/started about ten times :?:

Curious if anybody else exp[eriences this, or has a workaround!
Is there any way to hide the annoying ActiveSync icon from the today screen? That little useless sticky icon that lies at the bottom right corner.
Thanks.
-Viikate
I'm second to join for any ideas how to get rid of this [email protected]$!%!$ icon!
Try to remove IconTray (or something similar) from the startup folder. Should do the job. It also removes other icons.
If you do like the icons on the bottom of the screen then try PHM Traylaunch
Nope, it's not working. The tray bar is removed for sure but with avery connection to PC the annoying AS icon shows up... I believe it is present on WM6 ROMs only...
I would like to know how to remove icon of Inesoft Addres book whitch is placed bottom-right of the screen?

That`s the icon for the Caller ID plugin for the IAB
Start Address Book
Menu / Tools / Options / Phone and Dial - uncheck "Show tray icon" (works if you have caller ID enabled)
...or you may disable caller ID
