Radiostack downgrade success!!! - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

hello all,
2days i upgraded to o2 radio stack 4.21 after a 2003 upgrade and noticed signal problems i thought the radio upgrade would fix the problem but it didnt ,
from all my readings " you cant downgrade from 4.21 " but i thought i would give it a try i ran the 3.23.1 setup and it downgraded with success... i also downloaded and installed which i belive is the latest radio upgrade for the Qtek1010 RSU 3.25.0 and its more reliable then ever.
p.s. 3.25.0 can be downloaded from http://www.carrierdevices.com.au/

Thats not a downgrade then if the Qtek 3.23.1 RS is newer, right!

abinalmalik;
where do you use your qtek (location)? does the rs3.25 work in mideast?

i use it in Oman as well as UAE it works superbly

You may use any ROM Updgrade, you may even want to cook your own ROM, but please do not think of performing a radio stack upgrade if your present radio is working well and giving you a trouble free service.
Hi guys,
I 'm in same situation but with higher versions, and can hardly wait to get a new 2003 ROM.
I can't just play with my XDA as I use it all the time for work and it's pretty stable so far. I just also can't tell that the ROM is 'totally' separate from the RUU in WM2003.
So the question is: is there any one here who has gone through a 2003 upgrade for Qtek 1010 to tell us his thoughts after the upgrade ?
I read a lot about the stability of 4.00.16 ENG, but all been written was for O2 R4.21 or T-Mobile R6.xx. Did any one in this region (Mid East) with R 3.2x went into this upgrade ? and what is the current status ?
Thanx all ....
Latest ...
I tried upgrading to 4.00.11 ENG from the kitchen ... no matter how many trys it just restarts and gives the same error message "Can't open USB/com port ..." ...
Do I miss anything ??
more update ...
Tried to cook the new ROM as .nb1 file and used Xdatools from the kitchen to flash my device .... same result :?
Is it possible that there is a ROM protection on my XDA ???

Hi Biso007,
Look at the IDIOTS GUIDE at:
http://www.xda-developers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3171
and follow the instructions thoroughly one by one and you can't go wrong, it did work for me, I was in the same situation.
Samohile - Thanks. It is good advice to not mess with the radio if you can help it.
My only problem is that my device periodically shuts off. Then pressing the power button soft boots it. I cant tell for sure but it seems that this happens after an incoming or missed call. It seems that other friends using ROM 3.18.04 and Radio 3.25.01 (like our friend biso007 here) seem to have very stable systems.
I can try upgrading the ROM only and see what happens but the information at www.carrierdevices.com seems to imply that both ought to be upgraded at the same time. I notice it is an Australian site. Does that matter? Also, the version of the radio upgrade is a bit confusing, at least from its name. (Radio Upgrade File : RSUv1.15_(GPRS_T32500_ENG).exe] ). I wonder what this RSUv1.15 translates into since the name of the exe file for the ROM is nicely descriptive of the version (3.18.04).
Any advice in this would be very welcome..
Well i am using WM2003 4.00.11 and its working fine for me no problem i cooked in the kitchen you just need to read arround this great forum for a whgile on topics such as upgrades and ROM to know exactly what you are dealing with and then you will able to upgrade smoothly.
Hi ARZLEB
I read lots and lots about upgrade lessons but none of them worked for me .... I got an advice to use SD card with bootloader as it's the only working way. Now I wonder why the EXE method was created!!
I see that u got the 4.00.11 working. Did u upgrade it using EXE or SD card. Any help would be so appreciated ... thnx
Well i used the EXE methode the file i cooked in the Kitchen but i didnt change the version i left as 3 at the bottom of the page it works fine i upgraded from 3.XX to 4.XX then i downgraded from 4.00.11 to 4.00.05 then upgraded again all using EXE format so far working great.
i will be honest with you i know about the SD methode very well but never tried it so u have to make more search on this issue.
If you need anything more plz message me anytime and i will be more then whilling to help you step by step...

Faisal sorry for very late reply.
I have flashed my Qtek (bought in Abu Dhabi) with several versions of roms cooked in kitchens (Jeff's and Stefans's), but I have finally settled with ATT release wm2003 Siemens SX56 upgrade. It comes with most of the bugs fixed (except multiple reset bug) and is quite stable. I almost never have to reset it. You can flash the ROM only by SD card method though. You can try it. It's always a good idea to flash using SD card method. USB method using ProgramA is not very safe. I guess the network in Pakistan is compatible with the one in the UAE, so you can safely use it, if you don't mess up with the Radio Stack. My Radio is 3.23.01 and I have no problems with that.

The best working RSU for Europe (PPC2003) ?

After having tried o2 4.21 and T-Mobile 3.23 on my xda without satisfying success I am asking what is the most advanced Radio Stack at the moment (to work with PPC2003).
Since the the Qtek came on the market very lately I suppose that their Radio Stack is the most developed. Am I right ?
If yes, where can I download it ?
I only found the ASIA/PACIFIC RSU Version here in the forum and I heard that you need an Asian IMEI for this.
Upgrading my xda to PPC2003 (Yorch's) solved most of my problems but not all (losing signal from time to time).

Flashing Radio Version

Having problems with Radio Version 4.21 from England, ie the phone will not work (I am in Australia). The phone was working OK until I performed the upgrade
It has been suggested that I install Radio Version 6.12 from T-mobile and I have downloaded the file from Yorch, this comes up as an nbf file and I wonder if I should flash it as I can not find RSUupgrade.exe. Any suggestions ?
Chris
You downloaded the wrong file go back to Yorch's site and look under Upgrades and download "USA T-mobile Latest Radio Stack (Unofficial)
RU 6.24.00".

dont Australia use 900/1800 like europe ?
if that is the case the us RSU would ruin the phone even more

Radio Stack for Australia
Wed Nov 12, 2003 13:10
Hello Qman,
Thank you for your reply! But great news here as I have managed to get my RSU version to work in Australia.
My carrier is Optus and SIM card is fine.
Basically by trying most RSU versions I wasn’t able to get the phone to work. Funny thing is I tried the RSU version for the O2, which is supporting here in Australia but to no avail! I ended up using the new T- Mobile for the US and works like a dream have fully signal as well.
New version is RSU 6.24.
Cheers Erebus,

Further to my problems I upgraded to the T-mobile 2003 ROM an their latest Radio stack 6.24 and all is working OK.
I had sent the XDA to Melbourne (Australia) to the accredited Service company (Accord) and they had sent it back saying that it was buggered. I had some very helpful advice from Peter and Joe and have everything working fine. Curiously, when I had XDA 1.2 and the T-mobile Radiostack the phone kept crashing after reboot. Since upgrading to T-Mobile 4.00.21 ENG and Radio version 6.24.00 all works well.
I did try to download some Medical software (MIMS) and thisd has proven to be a bit of a problem. The tech dude at MIMS was not too impressed with Pocket-PC 2003
Chris
Great, glad to hear it all worked out ok! 8)
Seems R 6.24 works in many wheres ... I put it on a friend's XDA and it works now (Egypt 900/1800) ... just wonder if it's wise to go for ROM 4.00.21 or keep the 4.00.11 .... I heared that you can't change the ROM after T-mobile ROMs ... is that true ?

Thats great news on RS 6.24, thanks for the tip!
As far as not being able to change ROM's after upgrading to a T-Mobile WM2003 ROM, it will still work but you must use the SD card boot loader upgrade method.

Help needed, this morning I flash my XDA with USA T-mobile Latest Radio Stack (Unofficial) but not working for my GSM 900. So I flash it back to O2 Latest Official Radio Stack RU 4.21 but it flash until 83% stop forever. So i do a soft rest. Then my XDA can't boot. Can someone help me out on this method? I'm in Malaysia. Using 900/1800 bandwidth.
Hi ...
If you have taken SD backup before upgrading, then go for bootloader menu, press Calendar button, and turn off the Radio part. Try to flash your XDA back to the original ROM and RSU, and then perform a hard reset.
In case you didn't, try the Qtek offical RSU 3.25 from http://www.carrierdevices.com.au/downloads.php?region=Asia Pacific. It works good for Asian operators.
Good luck
Problem FIXED... Thanks for the big help.

Radio Stack upgrade problems!

I accidentally upgraded my radio stack to O2 4.21 and my phone doesn't work anymore. I need to get everything back to the way it was when I bought it. Want to use cingular service. What do I do?
if you know what was your original RSU version, go to www.yorch.net "upgrades" and down load the RSU upgrade file that fits your network

Unlocking with R6.25.02

Anybody knows how to unlock the T-Mobile XDA with this radio stack. I have downgraded by ROM to 3.17 but the XDAUnlock still wouldn't work. I get Error Getting Unlock Code. Based on what I see it does not seem to be a good idea to downgrade the RSU. If I do downgrade I can't find how to upgrade the RSU back to the current version.
1. Any help?
2. Will the XDAUnlock be modified to support this radio stack?
I agree with you it's not safe to flash the RSU, but if it's the only way then you will have to do it ... or it's better to get the lock key from your operator.
I downgraded the RSU...
Worked!
I tried unlocking the phone...
Worked!
Now I see no signal.... Do I have to upgrade the RSU again?
If so how can I do that?
thanks in advance for your help!!!
Upgraded Radio from uspocketpcphone.com and it worked!!!!!
HI. if you are trying to upgrade the radio stack, make sure that the radio stack is built for what kind of WM OS. For example, if you downgrade or upgrade the radio stack that you with Tmoble, make sure that the radio stack must support you Tmobile OS. I have tried may times and found out that AT And T just suits for AT&T rom, Tmobile, just for Tmobile rom, O2 must for O2 Rom. There is no way that you can swap one radio stack to another rom.
Again, I don't have radio stack 6.25 but I have radio stack 6.24 for Tmoble. I will upload if you need it.
Again, if you don't mind, can upload the radio stack 3.17 for me. thanks.
Please download here:
You were right!!!
I wish I could have read your post earlier.
I upgraded the radio on my own phone (i was working on my friends phone yesterday). Then there was no signal.
I tried downgrading to 3.17 (on yorch.net) and it froze and now my phone is dead. it restarted but it shows no radio version and no signal.
any ideas???
