What is the latest GSM Stack for T-Mobile US ?? - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

Sorry for the posting looking like an obvious one, but I currently have ROM version 4.00.21 with RSU 6.24. Is 6.24 the latest? I saw somewhere on this and other boards mention of a 6.28 RSU but cannot find it anywhere
Am I on a wild goose chase, or does 6.28 exist ? Just want to be able to use my phone downstairs in the house as well as upstairs Hoping that 6.28 , if it exists, provides better signal than 6.24.
thanks
graeme

There are "Two" who might know, but for some unknown reason they're
not telling.... whats up Yorch!

Best Radio?

Hey guys, like all you other fellow wizard users im always craving better reception and call quality. Now i have seen the mod that you can do with the silver foil to get better reception but its a little to blue peter for me just yet lol. I was wondering does anyone have any particualr rom that gives better reception or call quality. I'm currently using molski's ROM which is excellent and uses the 2.25.11 radio version. I have heard that the US t-mobile version is supposed to be great at improving both these areas is this true? has anyone maybe cooked up a ROM based on some of the parts of it? For the answer to these questions and more tune into to the next post
Cheers

I switched from the Tmob 2.25.11 to the Cingular 2.25.11 and improved reception between 1/4th - 1/3rd, and greatly improved reception indoors & big buildings and such.
they are supposed to be the same radio rom, but I read a post by a cat who claims that they are not digitally identical, what exactly that proves im not sure but I saw a difference, and there are many posts from others who report the same...
bhang
ah right you see this would be great! Did you swap by flashing the whole ROM or did you just flash the radio ROM (if thats even possible). I would also be interested to hear from anyone in the UK who is using the cingular ROM as much like everyone else I want better reception lol!

Best radio version (for signal strength)

Hi all,
First, apologies for posting a thread about something that gets asked an awful lot. However, I've never seen a definitive answer.
Which is the best radio version for phone (GSM/GPRS) signal strength? I'm currently using 1.09, and a while ago tried (IIRC) 1.12 but found it gave me a worse signal. I was wondering if any of the newer radio stacks were better, and, regarding the WM6 ones, whether I would need to do a complete reflash to use them or if I could keep my WM5 rom.
If it makes any difference, I'm on Orange in the UK.

Unfortunately, there is no definitive answer - hence the debates. There seems to be very great variability across locations and carriers. I won't refer you to all the threads where people have come up with different results because there are so many!
Sometimes even people on the same carrier seem to get different results (eg I am on U2 in the UK and find 1.14.1 / 1.09 the best whereas others on O2 UK found 1.13 the best). There may also be a difference between G3 and G4 handsets (although I'm not sure if anyone has looked into that in any way).
The answer is probably that you will have to try them and see what happens. IMHO there is usually a trade-off in signal strength, reliability (eg with direct push) etc - for example on 1.14.1 I get the best reception but under 2.01.08 WWE I occasionally had problems with Direct Push (which I don't use very often). I have less reception on 1.09 but more stability with DP.
Hope that helps at least a little!
I think 1.13 is the best

HELP! Question on 8525 reception.

Hello all, this is my 1st post on these forums. They are great BTW. Anyway I have a question about radio roms. I've read through the wiki and I've read various posts in here about Radio version: 1.40.30.00, so far from what I've seen a lot of people like and recommend this version. So I successfully flashed to the newest retail firmware from AT&T the 04/09/07 release. I love the PDA features of the phone, but voice call/SMS connectivity is craptacular at best.
I recently upgraded from the 8125 and I never had any problems at all with voice call or SMS connectivity on my old phone. Performance wise it feels like the 8525 is a downgrade. I can hardly receive phone calls/texts from my house, and I can't make calls/texts at all. In fact I have to go get on the highway to get any kind of signal. That was never the case in this area before.
Here's my question. Is there perhaps a Radio Rom fix that I have missed, or do you think that I should swap the phone out (I have 15 days left) at the store? I was considering downgrading to a previous firmware version so I could get an earlier Radio Rom, but I don't know if that is a proper solution, or if I can do so without bricking my phone.
Welcome to XDA.
OK, so if I read what you're saying correctly, the original ROM/radio worked fine? I'm guessing the radio version was 1.16.00.00, which you can technically flash independently. There are also several radio versions in between, all of which can be found here.
That said, bear in mind that monkeying with the radio is the riskiest thing you can do in terms of bricking your device (because the CID "lives" there and if it becomes corrupt, you're "bricked"). Normally the advisable thing to do would be to install Hard-SPL to guard against this, but if you think you may have to cash in on your warranty the safest thing to do might be to downgrade the entire ROM to the original as installing anything "non-factory" will void your warranty. Or, since you've done nothing to void your warranty thus far, you could leave it as is, it in to Cingular and complain.
The current factory ROMs can be found here. My guess would be that yours shipped with 1.34.502.1.
Good luck!
Thx for the advice, I just installed Hard SPL and Flashed Radio:1.41.00.10 and the reception seemed a little bit better, but I still have to go out to the highway to do anything. I think I'm going to put one of the old retail roms back on and loose the Hermes. I may get a Cheetah instead, my wife has one of those and her call reception is great. Plus the threaded SMS is a selling point.

If you want to give it a go, I had better luck with 1.40 than with 1.41 for Cingular. The 1.40 radio is specifically a Cingular release. You may want to try that one before abandoning the device, although I am not sure any radio will make a monumental difference. Surprising that the difference between the 8125 and 8525 would be that big.
The 1.40 was the one that I had initially. On HTC's site the 4/09/07 firmware shipped with 1.40, and it's the one that I've been using since I got the phone. I don't think that it's the Radio ROM anymore, I think that it's the device in this area. I just don't want to swap it out for a new one and confirm that it is the device in this area. Then I'll be stuck with a $500.00 PDA with no usable phone.
Lol I was shocked 'bout that too... the 8125 was incredible compared to the 8525 reception wise.

rom and radio updates

I was reading that these can up the performance of the phone, speed, battery life etc..
my question is this: can certain roms boost signal power?
im sorry im newb, please be easy
to clarify: im on radio version 2.08.50.08_2
can anyone confirm if there is a better radio version out there?
so no one here bought a US tmobile Hd2 and changed the radio rom to see an improvement?
am i that newb that no one can even reply?
ive been trying to figure this out for myself but its all foreign people from other countries and im not sure if that applies to my us tmobile hd2....
I think the sticky radio thread is the place to look, read and ask questions!

HD2 with At&t US

Hi, i have a HD2 unlucked using it with AT&T US. the signal is quite bad, i dont have 3g at all, ive realised the bands dont match up but is there any way to increase signal strength or something. The signal is ridiculous at times where i have no signal at all in my house.
try different radio

Unless you bought a T9193 (look below the battery cover, is there a "Next G" or "T"?), you won't get 3G.
You might have luck playing with different radios to see if you get better coverage. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=713977 for more info. If you have a TMobile HD2, then you might want to check the other HD2 forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=631
If you have any questions, read up on the Q&A forum either way.
thats why I was asking about best/latest Radio Version for AT&T. Is your Radio Version the same as mine, identified in earlier post about AT&T Radio Version?
I have at&t (but I am using a t9193), I am having good results battery & signal w/ radio 2.12.50.02_2 (link in my sig)
what exactly do i do with these radio roms?
sorry im new to this whole thing and dont know alot. thanks

HSPL from here
grab a radio file from here
follow the steps here
Non-U.S. HD2 are not compatible with TMOUS 3G regardless of the radio Rom being used. A more current ROM may provide a better basic 2G/GPRS signal.
