Hi all
Does anyone know of any way to programmatically suppress the bubble which pops up whenever you dial a GPRS connection and again once the GPRS is connected?
Cheers

I think I saw a posting on microsoft.public.pocketpc.developer once saying, no, you can't stop it. Same with incomming phone calls, and various other bits that the OS does for you.
Having said that, I don't know for certain, and if you find out how, please let me know!!!
Ben
It is under Sounds and Notification, you can disable them from there with many other annoying bubbles

Don't you just hate snoopers. I mean people leaning over on the bus and peering over your shoulder at your text messages as you access your text inbox on your jasjar.
Wouldn't it be nice to just turn that auto preview off on text and email messages someway, somehow?
People, be careful in London, those snoopers may be more interested in your JJ/Exec/MDA/VPA/M5000 then your messages!
Hey, London's not that bad!
tell u what jah, I'm more worried about my messages than my jasjar, although someone would have to be very very brave to try anything with me,
anyway I'm actually always in the car with it, I would like some real super duper voice activation software, I know of all the standard ones but I found on my xda fonix was the best, by the wa any ideas how to turn the autopreview of messages off by the way
Anyone who snoops is risking a fat lip from me.
Nobody has any interest in the content of your messages.
They are only considering how many of them its going to take to hold you down while they mug you.
I usually give them full eye contact and ask solidly if they'd mind f** off.
It usually does the trick.
Also beware of the honey trap snooper gaff. ie. attractive lady snoops as a means to get into a conversation. She then starts asking questions about you, your life, where you live, what you do etc.
I've known people who've lost everything to gangs in this way.
And no, I am not exaggerating.
Where is the auto preview? Can someone post a screenshot? I've never used my universal for messages, so I've no idea how it looks. I'll see if anything can be done about it if it's possible.

Isn't it just a case of turning off "display" in the notification settings for New SMS messages? I set it up for my CAR profile on PocketZenPhone and it works a treat, so it should just show the notification icon, but NOT display the message bubble.

Haha!!
hi guys, ok I've taken some time to catch up with the thread that I posted on snoopers and auto preview.
I think there's been a bit of confusion on the definition of auto preview. let me explain
When you access your messages be it text messages, mms or email, you will notice that when you go to inbox, the messages are displayed showing you the sender, directly underneath the sender you will see the message contents without actually entering the message.
I suppose its exactly like outlook where there is an option to show you the message directly underneath the subject line and not in a separate preview window.
I basically want to turn this option off as by default wm 05 shows you the message without opening it.
Help appreciated
Cheers guys
hiya. i checked in the registry HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications and i can't seem to find it. just a bunch of folders that look like this{A877D661-239C-47099DFKE2}.
is there also a way to customize or disable the sound when someone does message and you have agile running in the background?
thank you so much.
before scr3wing with the registry...how about turn off the checkbox in agilemessenger that says "text balloon notifications" ? ... works for me
really? which version of agile are you using?
i have the latest version on two 8125's... and i still get the pop up notification even with the thing off
Is there a registry tweak to turn off the notifications in MSN?
just wondering if I'm the only one with this problem. thanks.
no you are not. I have the same problem with the latest "beta" but thats why its a beta i suppose. sorry I dont have an answer for you though.

Hello!
I did a Hard-Reset, since some things weren't working fine.
After having finished the installation, I recognized that there is
NO SOUND
NO POPUP
NO BLINKING OF LED
NO VIBRATION
when I receive a SMS.
I don't know, what I can do to "repair".
PLEASE HELP!!
have you tried
Start>Settings>Sounds & Notifications>Notifications>Event: Messaging: New Text Message
...of course I tried this.
Any other ideas?
Did you by any chance hide the ActiveSync (POP3) folder in your messaging application by editing your registry? I suppose the chances you did are quite small... Then again, it never hurts to ask.
First of all, are you getting other notifications? I.e. incoming call, etc?
What has worked for me when this has happened is to go to sounds/notification and select the sound to use when a new text message is received, then select the play button beside it to play a demo of the audio. For some reason, it seems like that helps my device to register the wake up action to take when a new call is received.
Hope this helps!
@Eggy
Yes, I removed the ActiveSync-account and the Hotmail-account in the registry.
Is there a connection between removing these accounts and hearing no sms-notifications?
@lulugirl896
For an incoming call it works fine.
I also played the sound in the options (like you wrote) but nothing changes.

Try returning the ActiveSync key the way it was. The Hotmail one shouldn't make a difference.

Could you write the structure of the registry-keys, since I don't know the old state... ?
Hey there. Kinda new to WM, but the problem still remains. I bought a SPV M3100, unlocked it with the method described on this forum, and terrible surprize: I cannot make video calls. When I try one, it says it couldnt do it and asks me to choose from : normal call, text message etc. Things like I am not subscribed or I dont have coverage are NOT probable. I am on Vodafone network. Do u have any idea what cold be wrong? Maybe because of the unlocking?
Hi Leoking,
Unlocking shouldn't have done this. Just to be sure you could make and receive video calls before? Your account has video calls enabled? You are seeing a 'U' or '3G' on the top of the phone when you try this?
Gav.
Thank you man for trying, the problem is solved. It was a ROM/Radio problem.
Tell me smth though: do u know how to enable delivery reports for SMS messages?
Goto messages then: Menu > Tools > Options > Text Messages > tick Request delivery notification.
Gav.
Yes now it works. I didnt have that option, had to install a patch.
video calls???
I have an 8525. Can these things make video calls? How do I do it?

No they cant, the 8525 does not have the front camera, nor does cingular's network support video calling

Now why would a 3G network not support this? I thought the bandwidth would be fast enough. Does the cingular network somehow know that you're making a video call as opposed to downloading a large file?
its provider dependant.. a 3G network can support video calling, however i think its the way the video call is made, obviously its the same as a data call, but im sure it would reguire different server settings which cingular does not have, nor support... i would imagine it would require a server that would convert your telephone number into your ip address, kinda like a dns server does with a URL... (dont qoute me on that, im not sure how the whole cellular video calling network works, yet) however, i dont see any reason why you couldnt do it with a program such as Microsoft portrait (a beta program i picked up somewhere) which would be able to do it over the internet... makes its call via IP address, but you still run into the problem of the 8525 not having the front camera.
SMS Delivery Reports
Hi I just updated my rom so I could get a new voicemaill notification from vodafone with the new cingular rom and thank god I now get the sms new voicemail reports. But I have found 2 problems 1. I cant switch on delivery reports for sms set to other voicemails. 2 The band selection is gone from the phone setting but I found a registry entry to get this back.
Does anybody know how to sort out he sms delivery report issue

Hi mate, can you tell me what the problem was and what you did to resolve it. I cannot make video calls either, i've tried calling my handset and it goes to videomail. I definately have it set up etc as i used it on my previous handset.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
I am hopeful that someone can help solve a couple of issues(bugs) that I've found on the Verizon XV6800. A lot of you guys seem very skilled in creating new ROM's and many other things. So hopefully, one or more of you will find easy solutions to these issues.
First: On the XV6800(Windows Mobile 6), under the Sounds & Notifications Settings, "Repeat" is greyed out/disabled for EVERY NOTIFICATION setting. But, on the Notification Settings for MMS Downloaded, not only is "Repeat" greyed out/disabled, but "Flashing Light" is also greyed out and disabled. Can anyone tell me how to fix this please. (see screen shot below)
Second: Is there a way to prevent the XV6800 from repeating your voice tag for a contact "through the Speakerphone".
--Example: When I say "call xxxx", the phone repeats it back LOUDLY through the speakerphone! Duh....I'm sure no one around me wants to hear this and I don't want them to hear it either! What a really dumb setup. Can anyone help? Can these things be fixed??
Thanks for your help,
Mark
