hi, we are developing secure applications for the XDA and perhaps we will need to use a smart card.
There are any possibility to use a smart card reader with the XDA or not at all?
Thanks

You could hook up stuff through the serial port...
Take a look at www.grabba.com cool piece of kit.

i need a pda-phone that recognises handwriting (in landscape format) and that will let me install ibm's viavoice 10 for usb. bluetooth and triband would be nice bonuses. such a device doesn't seem to be available on the commerical market. can anybody build this for me??
XDA II
Perhaps the new XDA II, which is coming out before Christmas (O2), is what you need.
if 2003 dont support that kind of writing and there are no 3th party tool which add this support then a programmer with some time on his hands could make it
not sure about the ibm viavoice thing with me not knowing what it is and all
but XDA is an usb peripherals not a master so you cant connect devices to it like you can a pc
the xda2 have bluetooth and sd SDIO

thanks rudegar. any idea where i could find such a programmer? (btw: viavoice is voice recognition software. version 10 is really pretty good. especially useful for longer papers - 2-3 times faster than typing).
not really since pocketpc use mfc which is the libs many normal windows programmers use many people got the skills to make programs for pocketpc
you could try here
http://www.codeguru.com/forum/
about the ibm thingy then maybe they got a converter to make it work with
sd SDIO port og maybe they'll make it in a SD versions that is if it's not going to work because the XDA cant handle usb peripherals
maybe there is another way around this i dont know
also the XDA dont support SDIO but the XDA2 will
also maybe there are other voice recognition software packs for a normal PDA with pocketpc of cause they may not be as good
thanks rudegar for the codeguru tip. nobody has written me back, so i'm starting to think it may just be impossible to link serious voice recognition software to a reliable pda-phone. will report if i do find a solution. best. c.
i think i recall somebody saying that 2003 support horizoltal display support on the pda
think somebody said that there were a tool to do it with 2002 but you had to softreset it when you wanted to change back and forth
not sure if text recognition would work while the display were horizoltal
but i dont see why not
Hi,
can anyone recommend a peice of software which would either allow me to click on a file on my xda II whilst in the sync cradle and allow it to print via my pc printer. or a peice of software which would allow me to request a doc is printed once i get home and place the xda II in its cradle.
Many thanks.

OCR Business card software for ELF??
Hi all!
I've just tried the WorldCard Mobile on my brand new ( ) touch and it don't run so is there any other that work ?
I need this feature for scanning easily some business cards
Thanx
Nobody ??
Dude there's a bunch of ELF and i'm sure some want to use OCR :!
Hi wazzaman
I also have an OCR by worldcardmobile.. and it runs as well.. problem is...
1) its designed for a ph with a better camera (what with the elf having a glorified 1 mega pixel, than a 2 mp)
2) As soon as it somehow with adequate lighting and a bigger font visiting card recognizes content, it refuses to export it into contacts (if you have bought it, then its a different thing)
works splendidly on the diamond..
P.s.
did u buy it from here.

World card is unfortunately not working on my Diamond. Did it work for anyone else?
Hi,
I don`t have World Card mobile on the CD (Vodafone pack), but got it from somewhere else and works perfect on my Diamond.
We will need the product S/N which is on the CD to be able to activate this.
Do anyone have the serial number?
Hi, do anyone have the serial number for this apps? Please? Please?
Hi Guys
I have been trying to get the reader to work on my PDA running 6.5 PDA and now running 6.1 with the great help from Tony Chef.
Before posting this i spent various hours looking up the problem on the net and reading here as well as trying factivation but nothing seems to work.
I successfully activate the reader and when I come to read purchased books it won't let me open the purchased books, only the downloaded ones. It either closes the reader programme down or says that my reader is not activated although it says it is at the bottom of the reader start up screen.. Can anyone either come up with a working solution or an alternative reader that can read micrsoft reader lit format files. I prefer to use reader as I find it alot better to use that adobe and other ones I have found but this problem is driving me mad!!! I am installed the latest reader for 6.1 and followed various instructions and hacks like factivation but nothing ever seems to solve it.
Thanks
Anyone !

you try to use Freda the free ebook reader, to download it go to http://www.turnipsoft.co.uk/freda/
Thanks for the reply, I can use reader for non DRM books but I have loads of books which I have bought which have DRM and the Freda software will not work with them, so back to square one, seems the only way is to get reader working unless I can remove the drm from the books
