X7501 from Mobile planet - Can't run TomTom!

I'm starting to wonder about the X7501 - it's turning into hard work and the surprises are becoming a little (a lot) annoying.
The flaky Microdrive was the first surprise - still waiting on HTC (who have been responding to emails) to come up with a viable solution.
Now, I've just learnt from Tom Tom that my new X7501 will not run TomTom unless it is running the ROM that already has TomTom loaded:
Please note that only the Advantage X7500 running Windows Mobile 6 is compatible with Navigator 6. This PDA comes preinstalled with a special version of the Navigator 6 software on its Rom memory. Unless your HTC Advantage X7501 comes preinstalled with a special version of Navigator 6 it is not compatible with the software.
Perhaps I'm being a little ambitious, but I'd like the X7501 to use the TomTom software and maps loaded on the X7501 - not downloaded as you go. I'm happy to buy these (for Australia) from TomTom.
Do I box it up and return it or is there an alternative GPS/on board maps solution possible to bring this puppy back into the serious category?

i dont see why you shouldnt be able to install tom tom and run it ... afterall it is a windows mobile program

I agree - it's only an app - so why do TomTom say it'll only work on a machine with the software preloaded?
BTW, Can't find a copy of TomTom 6 to try. Downloading the update from the site doesn't help. There's nothing on my HTC CD that may help.

I manageded to get Navigator 5 working on the Ameo with WM6, can't see why you couldn't. TomToms tech support is very bad so don't take thier word for anything.

Comes on the fricking CD to be added manually.
works fine as well, as does TT5 and Copilot 6 (apart from not natively being VGA, but seems to work for me anyway)

Maybe they mean the version of TomTom that is bundled on the CD?
When I got my x7500, it came with a bundled tomtom, sprite backup and a gprs monitor .. none of these work however if I'm using a custom ROM.
Downloading fresh, unrestricted versions of each however work fine .. looks like the cabs are rom specific

I have x7501 and x7500. i tried installing the cd that comes with x7500 and it doesnt work with x7501. it will tell you it is not the correct device. i have ttn 6 cab that works. pm me ...

I am using a custom ROM and I managed to get all of the programs bundled on CD to work without any issue.

I had to use SPB GPRS Monitor and 'find' a key
Oh well .. nevermind, I don't use TomTom that much as I dont have a car yet and I've jst got an unlimited data plan, so I dont really need the gPRS monitor anymore. Thanks for the input though .. can I ask which ROM you're using?

Great!!! finally something that works from a sd card without tinkering with. By the way - it works to some degree on qtek 8500 with wm6 as well. I tried it with opera - no problem at all and great.
Bombus - the jabber client - problem!!! doesn't use all keys - direction and input. Other miscallenneous programs - input problem. To be expected though, it was made for different software.
Not a major problem though. The JRebeiro_EsmertecJbed3d works from sd card as well - install and just move the big exe somewhere and it will run ok. The files will be stored in the main memory though. To be exact in the appdb dir in windows folder.
I decided to keep the new version - for instance in bombus the text is actually written you just can't see it. if you switch the t9 on and carefully write your login, pass and server, you can even use it. However, it is only just usable, I don't really use it often, in favour of Agile, so I can live with it.

Never mind, I don't know what was worse my laziness or the stupidity of my question. Sorry for taking up threadspace

I don't have a SD card, how can I install it into main memory? Thanks.

problem with Opera 4.1 trusted release and this update
Is anyone having problems with this and Opera 4.1 trusted midlet? I am experiencing the following:
Everytime I try to use autocomplete and type an address, when I press a letter it repeatedly makes the same letter. Also using the fast scrolling feature with numbers 2, 4, 6, 8 does the same thing except for without the letters. It just keeps scrolling by itself! Any one else experiencing this and is there a way to fix this?

I gave Java build 20080521.4.1 on my new sprint ROM for my Mogul.
Anyone know where I can get this as a .cab so I can install it into customs ROM's that I flash?

Installed this on an Axim X51v - doesn't run at all, from main memory or SD card. It just doesn't open at all. Any ideas?

Here is my Question: Is there any software/programs to my HTC diamond that can Mapping Wireless on a map or with my Tomtom gps software ?.
Sorry for bad english but not my main language.
PS. I have tryed Ministumbler but it says no WiFi adapter in the program.

No, 3-dimensional WiFi mapping is impossible without at least three receivers.
Unless that's not what you mean.

Try wififofum it can save locations of the access points via your builtin gps in an xml file, which you can convert to googlemaps format, ...

+1 to wififofum. I located over 100 hotspots in one hour with normal bike and small city. Easy and fast.
I used gpsbabel to convert poi's tomtom.

better get Airomap, more Info than wififofum and exports results to about anything you like...
and if you like to share and maybe even earn some small $s check navizon (which is a great idea!)

I also have an OCR by worldcardmobile.. and it runs as well.. problem is...
1) its designed for a ph with a better camera (what with the elf having a glorified 1 mega pixel, than a 2 mp)
2) As soon as it somehow with adequate lighting and a bigger font visiting card recognizes content, it refuses to export it into contacts (if you have bought it, then its a different thing)
works splendidly on the diamond..

I use my elf to read 2d & 1d barcodes for work, I just have a small lense that i put infront of the camera and it works great for close up

New to HTC HD where to start, what programs to get?

I'm new and im getting a HTC HD for christmas day
i need help since it is my first Windows mobile
i never used windows mobile before (but im familiar with Windows xp and vista on pc)
1. Do i need to hack the the HTC HD to install programs and games on it?
2. What is the best place to find programs and games?
3. How do i transfer the programs, i heard i use total commander but then i need a total commander plugin for HTC HD right, where to get that?
4. What programs is a must have to start with
I will use HTC HD for personal use so is not realy for busniess yet
But i love touch phones
So far i though about VR hologram just for the cool efect
5. IS there a way to get a Startrek like program like Pocketlcars to work on 800x600 resolution for HTC HD or something similar

I would like some very nice wallpapers, programs (would be good with a program for shoplist grocery store) also a good ebook reader , a PDF reader i need, and all other programs that is a must have for HTC and windows mobile newbies.
PS! i already have programs on Ipod touch but i decided not go for a iphone i prefered HTC HD since its better in my opinion
