Getting phone back on Today Screen - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

Ok I just bit the bullet and put on WM2003 .11 version and I have a question.
When I was running AT&T's A20 version, I had a phone icon on my Today screen which I could just click to get to the phone. Now with WM2003 it obviously isn't there anymore.
Being a bit new to the Pocket PC stuff, how can I put that back on my Today screen?

Using your favorite file explorer, create a link in \Windows\Start Menu that points to "\Windows\cprog.exe"

Why don't you just press the green phone button?

holy cow I didn't think of just pressing the Green phone button. LOL
@XDA
I still have a phone choice in my start menu, I meant I wanted it on my Today screen like it was previously.
Thanks guys.

XDA exec desktop messed up

I just messed up my desktop somehow, the regular desktop has been replaced by a desktop which is different and has a bunch of tabs at the bottom stating home, customs, settings, help
When I reset the device and start it, the old desktop comes up and it gets replaced by this new desktop, I think I pressed the o2 active button and this is what happened. Prior to that the pda behaved funny and said that I did not have enough power to start the wireless, and then I tried to check the power and could not get into the screen where it gives a breakdown of the battery.
when I click the screen icon to rotate the screen into portrait mode and then back to landscape(upside down) and then back to landscape(it skips portrait), the desktop is back to normal, however there is a black band on the right hand side with the regular thin lines running across the band. The band is about 2-3 cm wide and runs from 1 cm from the top to 1 cm from the bottom. it is functional because the icon of the screen does appear on it in addition to the wireless manager icon(circle with the black dot)
Is there any way I can get back my old desktop
O2 Active dosn't have tabs across the bottom, but that sounds familiar. Possible spb pocket plus? Can't remember but deffinately sounds like a piece of software I've played with in the past.
What have you got installed on the Exec?

yes it does.
thanks for the replies
in addition to the usual stuff from o2, i have got tcpmp, a zip progra and a cab installer
i guess o2active is the desktop? it is o2active, now the funny thing is, that i get the o2active desktop in the fourth orientation(the original orientation when you open the xda in clamshell mode) it seems to be the original desktop but with the black band on the right hand side.
an update on my dektop
The black side of the desktop has increased in size
and i got a message which saidSomething about a usb device which could not be authenticated and it said that tere was not enough power to connect to the usb or sd device and
then I could not open any file since the device(exec) was stating that it could not authenticate me, then reset it and i am back with a lrger black portion of the screen, please help

My bad, I just remembered the menu popping out from the left.
To xda_guy when you say you reset it, do you mean a soft reset only or have you hard reset it too?
i have soft resetted it
i dont want to hard reset it
Don't be scared of a hard reset.
Sync it, and your important stuff is saved.
The rest of your programs disappearing gives you a chance to install the latest versions, use the UPX program to compress them and make sure you have the latest ROM/radio in your device.
You don't need to do a hard reset,
Go to
Start> Programs> Install Type> Basic OK
The screen may look a bit screwed, change the Theme to something of your liking and do a soft reset. As you will have de-activated the O2 Active everytime you soft reset you will get a message telling you so but it's no big deal
thanks for the replies
when i sync my device, what info is tsored onto my pc?
how will i restore this info back to my xda?
is this the UPX website
http://upx.sourceforge.net/
which program should i use on this site?
steladel i followed your advice, and got back my good old screen, cool, cool, cool
what is the active o2 used for anyway?
when should one use a hard reset?

Wing locking itself

I swear I did not change any settings, but starting yesterday my Wing would just lock itself when the screen shuts off. Anyone know how to disable this? Thanks
*edit*
another odd thing I noticed - I don't have to unlock when the phone's charging. very weird.
what programs are you using? If you hold down the end key for a second, the phone will lock. Maybe you are accidentally bumping it when you put it in your pocket or case.
Sorry I wasn't more specific... I'm running ttran's OpenTouch 3.0. when I turn on the screen (using the power button) I need to press unlock twice to get to the main menu. It's annoying and I'd like to get rid of it. idk... I didn't change anything and it just randomly started happening yesterday. help?
I agree with you PharmacySchool...I'm running Ttran's 3.0 ROM myself and the "locked" feature pop-up on me this afternoon, out of the blue. It is very annoying and I'm not sure what caused it to start happening. Was getting an address out of the contacts list, X'ed out of contacts once finished, clicked the power button to turn the screen off...next time I went to use the phone, it magically was locked and has been since. A real pain to have to hit the unlock button twice just to use the phone. Have played around a little with it, but no success on correcting the problem yet.
Make sure you're not overclocking the phone. This can cause lock ups if the CPU overheats or if it doesn't get the required voltage or for other reasons.
The lock I'm referring to and I believe PharmacySchool...is like a "key lock". How some phones have an option to lock the keys so it can't accidentally call someone if numbers get pressed by mistake or while in your pants pockets. Nothing to do with the CPU or it being overheated. All you have to do is press the button to turn the screen light off and instantly turn it back on...it's locked. You have to hit the "unlock" button on the bottom left hand corner and the tap the unlock button on the screen. After doing such...you can once again use your phone.
I have the answer!!!

I'm pretty knew at this but I ran into the same problem and I figured out how to fix it. I don't know all the fancy wording so bare w/me. On your main screen touch and hold your battery symbol/ 6th option down says DeviceLock with a green check/ uncheck that **** and your good to go.
NOW someone PLEASEEEEE create a slide 2 "answer" not a slide 2 lock. I am so tired of my phone answering its self in my pocket when I don't want it to.
A_C 's S2U2 has a slide to answer feature..... You should check it out.

I've installed S2U2-0.2-WM5 with Touch It v2.3 and had problems. I think I remember it having a slide to answer but I also remember it answering with the green button as well. Maybe there was a way to disable it but I don't know how.
Does it work better Open Touch v3.0. because thats what I'm running now.
WOW... thats an OLD version.... that version should not have the slide to answer.....Current Version is 0.99p. It can be found in the development and hacking forum. You'll need to enable the S2A feature with the settings program...Man the apps come a LONG way since your version...We got animated gif support, Random still backgrounds, an exceptions list so voice dialers will work properly and internet browsers will stay alive... Just try the new version.

[Utility] AutoLock - Automatic Screen Locking Solution

I have a Kaiser, and there's nothing more irritating than accidentally bumping a button while having the phone in your pocket, then having random things in your pocket scroll through your address book until it calls someone. Or opens up IE and finds a high-bandwidth website. When you don't have a data plan.
Things like this hurt. I've been trying to find a solution to it, and I happened to stumble upon an olllllld application on another forum. It's called AutoLock. I found it Here.
Anyways, long story short, it uses the built-in Windows Mobile screen lock and turns it on whenever the phone's screen turns on. So hitting the power button is enough to lock your phone. It's super convenient, and for the most part, it's not too buggy.
I've been using this for probably over a month now. It's a lifesaver. I had the .exe on my SD card, and every time I reflashed, I had to make a new shortcut and place it into the startup folder. So tonight, I made a CAB file out of it.
I hope you guys get as much use out of it as I do.
A quick note: It runs in the background. Terminating it will not allow it to function. The CAB will add a shortcut to the startup folder, so a soft reset will start it. Otherwise you can start it from the shortcut in the Programs folder.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Is there a way to disable the program window that pops up after a soft-reset?
A: There is no way to disable the message screen on startup. Just hit the X in the top right corner, and it should minimize out of sight.
Q: When receiving a call, does the answer button and screen stay locked?
A: The answer button and the screen both unlock when the phone is ringing. If the call is answered/ignored/stops ringing, the screen will be re-locked.
Q: Will it work with my phone?
A: This program has been confirmed to work on a few models. I believe that it should work on pretty much any touchscreen device running Windows Mobile. Please, try it and tell me if it works!

Kaiser (ATT Tilt)
Touch Pro (Fuze)

this is a very usefull program.is there anyway to disable message screen when program start after softreset?thanks a lot in advance
It's unfortunate that I didn't create this program. I only found it through about six months of searching on the internet. Maybe a friendly XDA-Developer could write a similar program and keep it updated with new features!
As far as I know, there's no way to disable the message screen on startup. Just hit the X in the top right corner, and it should minimize out of sight.
As for if it works on a Diamond... go try it and tell me how it works!
Awesome program! Thanks
Looks interesting. Thx for sharing!

So what happens when a call comes? Does it lock the answer button too? And the screen?

Since it's the inbuilt Windows Mobile locking setup, when a call comes in, the phone is still locked, but the answer skin floats above the lock. So the screen "unlocks" so you can answer or reject the call, but it locks as soon as you answer or ignore it again.
I've discovered, using my Jade, that you can do the same thing by just setting the built-in Windows Mobile device lock to 0 minutes... You'd need to provide a password, though...
First press of the power button puts the phone to sleep... Press it again, it will ask for your password to unlock...

[Q] LEO70 need to be changed to HTC HD7 T9292?

Someone told me that if you go to settings and scroll down to about. If it says LEO70 your market place isnt gunna work. But you can change something in the registry to fix it and change the name. If this is true, how do i do it? Can someone link me to a thread or a video.

I recommend using TOMS Deployer to send the xaps to phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=908300&page=2
Hi. download this XBMOD,file deployer. Unzip and put on you desktop. Now start up your application Deployer (or Toms Deployer). Make sure phone is not in sleep mode. When the application deployer on your desktop has finished deploying, then go to the menu screen on your phone. You must have Touchxplorer still in there? If not put that in as well. OK here goes, Scroll to near the bottom until you can see XBMOD.Files.Deployer. Now tap that with your finger, it will open up, you can now see the CustClear.provxml, OK. Right now using the back arrow key on your mobile, push once and now you are in the menu again.OK now push the TouchXplorer, you will see yellow files there. You need to open my documents (Tap it twice), then you need to open the My Ringtones folder(Tap it twice). Can you see the CustClear.provxml file (Yes) OK now touch that until highlighted. then at the bottom of that screen, use your finger to push it up, or touch that 3 little full stops... scroll until you see the copy option. Now touch the copy. OK Just use the back arrow key again (Twice) until you come back to My Device. Scroll it up a bit until you see the yellow Windows folder. Now tapit twice untilthat opens. It will take a bit of time, but once you see it open with yellow files, then go to the bottom of you screen and tap the 3 little ... again. scroll until you see paste.OK Hit the paste, Thats it. Back out of the settings using the back arrow button. go to the about screen, and it should now show HTC HD7 T9292. If so then you have Cracked it.(IF not, do it again slower this time?) now go to hotmail and try logging in. It should fail, and then you touch the error message, it now shows the activation screen. now put the codes in, re log into your account..Job Done.

Zedbed, Trevor,
I might be wrong about it showing before registering? Try registering, and see if it has changed. No problem if it shows you LEO7, as you have not used up your activation key.
Give that a try and let me know, and i will change my posting.

Did you do the guide I linked you to?
Hard reset your phone and do everything in the guide form begining to end, Do not skip and do not do it on your current setup.
Start a fresh.
To hard reset hold volume up/down when you see the 1234 on magldr and keep holding them till the DFT screen has changed to white screen with instructions.

You may be using the wrong custclear.provxml file! The same thing happened to me and I couldn't change LEO70 to HD7 until I went to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=911579 download the toolkit that's in the first link you see, and used the XBMODDeployer.xap that's in the toolkit.
Copy to ringtones, copy to Windows folder in WP7 & use Connection Setup to provision as usual. Only by doing these steps will you be able to see HD7 when you go to the about screen. If that doesn't work, hard reset and try again.

Because without unlocking I was at least able to use live mail.

[Q]Screen Problem

Hey,
I have an HTC HD and love it. But I have a problem with screen.
When I push at the middle of the screen, it perceives the command wrong and acts like i push at the bottom of the screen. And when I push start button, it acts like I push the clock.
Aligning the screen from Settings menu works but only for 5 or 10 minutes, then it break itself down again.
What can I do ?
Thank you !
