What is the Latest reliable ver of the Radio Stack - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

Im running radio version 4.21.00. Is there a better more reliable version. Im mainly interested in improving performance of the GPRS connection. Im forever having to reset the XDA to get the GPRS internet connection to work properly.

What carrier in what country??

Vodafone NZ (New Zealand - The island off Australia – And no we are not connected via the Sydney bridge and we don’t live in mud huts surrounded by sheep)

No, I've heard the sheep are afraid of you guys...
The version numbers are different across carriers, which is why I ask. Mine is 6.20 (T-Mobile USA) but that doesn't mean it is newer. Hopefully someone in NZ can answer your question.

i dont think their are to many kiwis here. can the radio stack be downgraded using the sd flash method?

No. The SD-card method currently can only change the OS ROM.

Any source for downloading ? even if it is only a ROM-image
Pls send mi address as well...
I already posted in another thread, please note:
The image can be downloaded on the first site...
however, I have just reflashed my XDA/MDA with the older irish ROM, it has plenty more features than this one, GPRS standby and ISDN call type.
Don't trust the version numbers

Well thanks for ur enlightenment but this is a newer version for the Qtek and is newer than the version delivered on the 64MB version...No one said that it is the BEST for a XDA\MDA ! thats why it was on a Qtek support page! so I dont know what you mean with Version Numbers ?
I wanted to say that although it is the newer and the most recent version I've seen, it is way "older" in the mean of capabilities That's why I said not to trust version numbers. The Irish (3.15.15) ROM is way "newer"
Btw I didn't want to confuse you, it's just that who would want to apply this update if there was a better one? So I report this one is not worth updating.
P.S. I have mistaken Dutch ROM for Irish, just keep looking for 3.15.15

Simple I dont need the ISDN profile cause i use GPRS and not Dial up ...there are other enhancements which this brings...like I am trying to say one mans food is anothers .....reading your comments you are ASSUMING that your way is the right way..
It's just it's absolutely pointless for an average for-rom-update-looking-xda-user to download and try this ROM. Is that so hard to understand? I believe not

:x i realise these are quite old, but i have never updated any rom or radio and wouldt know where to start.
:?: :?: PLEASE can you post a step-by-step manual on HOW TO perform these updates here.
then i will make a new tread of it, just for all those other strugling users like myself, who realy didn´t dare to touch the settings, afraid the magic would end....
Look at LINKS section on this site, and see the link pointing to PdaPhoneHome site, I think it's there... Or xda.developers.com/rom, i think it's there as well

It was all but pointless for me. Gave me a much more stable device, and I have yet to find any functionality that is missing for me as a swedish user. I don't think there is anything I can use the SIM Toolkit for.

Which update for business user is best..?

Hi,
I'm successfully using an unlocked UK o2 xda in South Africa (GSM and GPRS work fine). My xda is on ROM 3.02.00 ENG, RSU 4.01. I see that o2 has new updates out on http://www.o2.co.uk/productsservices/xda/romupgradedownload/0,,170,00.html which is ROM 3.14.13, RSU 4.16 (boasting 33% faster GPRS, etc) I have read through this forum to try and ascertain which of the numerous updates out there is best for me.. I see though that the o2 update is prone to signal related problems, which is bad for me as I use my xda as a business tool. Are there any recommendations or comments?
Thank you!
Hello Jus
How did you manage to update the ROM and upon upgrade did you have to make any specific country or Network settings?
Dont upgrade the GSM ROM. highly probable that the phone wont connect to the network.

Flashing Radio Version

Having problems with Radio Version 4.21 from England, ie the phone will not work (I am in Australia). The phone was working OK until I performed the upgrade
It has been suggested that I install Radio Version 6.12 from T-mobile and I have downloaded the file from Yorch, this comes up as an nbf file and I wonder if I should flash it as I can not find RSUupgrade.exe. Any suggestions ?
Chris
You downloaded the wrong file go back to Yorch's site and look under Upgrades and download "USA T-mobile Latest Radio Stack (Unofficial)
RU 6.24.00".

dont Australia use 900/1800 like europe ?
if that is the case the us RSU would ruin the phone even more

Radio Stack for Australia
Wed Nov 12, 2003 13:10
Hello Qman,
Thank you for your reply! But great news here as I have managed to get my RSU version to work in Australia.
My carrier is Optus and SIM card is fine.
Basically by trying most RSU versions I wasn’t able to get the phone to work. Funny thing is I tried the RSU version for the O2, which is supporting here in Australia but to no avail! I ended up using the new T- Mobile for the US and works like a dream have fully signal as well.
New version is RSU 6.24.
Cheers Erebus,

Further to my problems I upgraded to the T-mobile 2003 ROM an their latest Radio stack 6.24 and all is working OK.
I had sent the XDA to Melbourne (Australia) to the accredited Service company (Accord) and they had sent it back saying that it was buggered. I had some very helpful advice from Peter and Joe and have everything working fine. Curiously, when I had XDA 1.2 and the T-mobile Radiostack the phone kept crashing after reboot. Since upgrading to T-Mobile 4.00.21 ENG and Radio version 6.24.00 all works well.
I did try to download some Medical software (MIMS) and thisd has proven to be a bit of a problem. The tech dude at MIMS was not too impressed with Pocket-PC 2003
Chris
Great, glad to hear it all worked out ok! 8)
Seems R 6.24 works in many wheres ... I put it on a friend's XDA and it works now (Egypt 900/1800) ... just wonder if it's wise to go for ROM 4.00.21 or keep the 4.00.11 .... I heared that you can't change the ROM after T-mobile ROMs ... is that true ?

Thats great news on RS 6.24, thanks for the tip!
As far as not being able to change ROM's after upgrading to a T-Mobile WM2003 ROM, it will still work but you must use the SD card boot loader upgrade method.

Help needed, this morning I flash my XDA with USA T-mobile Latest Radio Stack (Unofficial) but not working for my GSM 900. So I flash it back to O2 Latest Official Radio Stack RU 4.21 but it flash until 83% stop forever. So i do a soft rest. Then my XDA can't boot. Can someone help me out on this method? I'm in Malaysia. Using 900/1800 bandwidth.
Hi ...
If you have taken SD backup before upgrading, then go for bootloader menu, press Calendar button, and turn off the Radio part. Try to flash your XDA back to the original ROM and RSU, and then perform a hard reset.
In case you didn't, try the Qtek offical RSU 3.25 from http://www.carrierdevices.com.au/downloads.php?region=Asia Pacific. It works good for Asian operators.
Good luck
Problem FIXED... Thanks for the big help.

- "Lock/Unlock Device" item added to Today screen
- Changes to Signal indicator on top bar
- New Network Connection Settings added
Plus is reportedly upgrades the machine to AKU2.3.
sweet... but don't i have to do some crazy thing to my MDA to beable to get this ROM on there? I heard updating the ROM is hard
I am running this ROM, and I can tell you it is not too hard to do. Start by downloading lokiwiz from here.
Specific directions are included in that thread, but it is as simple as copying the enable RAPI cab to your device and running it, and then connecting the usb cable to the computer and running lokiwiz. do both the Super CID and the SIM unlock now (this may not be nessesary if your device is a t-mobile MDA, but it is best to just do it now, just in case...)
Once you are unlocked, it is as simple as downloading the ROM, connecting the USB and doubble clicking the installer... Follow the prompts, and you have a new ROM
I personally am running the 2.26 T-mobile ROM, and I really like it... If you haven't upgraded from the stock rom, I would reccomend giving it a try.
I hope this helps... And If you have any questions please let me or someone else know... It is better to ask a stupid question than fry your wizard...
EDIT--- The link to Lokiwiz I posted is to an upgraded version that I don't know how to use, it appears it has been upgraded for the newer ROMS, but dosen't work the same as the older version... If you have an MDA I would try the upgrade without it.... SORRY

OK
so my stupid question:
1. Does this update change the radio ROM, IPL and SPL?

Yes it does Change Everything
IPL: 2.26
SPL: 2.26
ROM version: 2.26.10.2
ROM date: 6/7/06
Radio Version: 2.25.11
Protocol Version: 4.1.13.12
OS Build version: 14955.2.3.0
Don't know if you can adjust you topic title but there are a few threads already running in the "Wizard Upgrading" section.
You're talking about the T-Mobile 2.26 version. That's not realy new. So if anybody wan't some answers just check the "Wizard Upgrading" section. 'Cause that's where it should be
Ah damn! I just upgraded to 2.24, is it worth doing this uprgrade?
If I installed all my programs to my Memory Card will they still be on the program list or will I have to load them all up again?
CHEERS!
Ok, maybe a silly question but...
Can I put a US carrier's ROM on my UK phone? Like the radio stack is compatible and all that?

hey - where did you find the site http://www.t-mobileapps.com ?
does TMobile publicize this site at all? (not that it seems to show much)

In previous stock TMO ROM, landscape mode with keyboard open popped up the virtual on-screen keyboard. I used NullKB to keep that from happening.
Now, with the new ROM released today, the virtual on-screen keyboard doesn't pop up in landscape mode.
Just checking with everyone else.

Yep, I've already did with xelencin's 2.24 T-Mobile rom from this site. One catch though there is a slight difference in the keyboard layout between the U.S. and U.K. but you can fix that by a reg. hack.
Use Total Commander and add the hack :
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locale = 0809 hex
I have a O2 XDA Mini S using the U.S. T- Mobile rom. I haven't upgraded to the new rom yet.

The link I believe is part of T-Mobile's parent company. If you login to your T-Mobile account and select MDA as your phone, then click the link "support for MDA" at the top of the screen it will take you to another screen which has the link "System Upgrade"
Kind of ironic, I was just browsing around before posting about where to find upgraded ROMs!
I'm running a UK Tmobile MDA Vario, but I'm in Canada. Just to be sure, if I download this ROM and then do the keyboard registry hack, I should be good right? I'm still on ROM version 1.6.2.4 WWE
Thanks!

You should be, I'm in the U.S. and won the UK device from www.4WinMobile.com . It was running software branded by the company O2, I flashed it with a U.S. T-Mobile Rom and haven't had any problems. The only real difference in all of the HTC Wizard devices is the Version of WM5 Rom your running and the Extended Rom put out by the company selling the device. (I am in no way an expert this is my understanding from what I have read,)
I hope to have time to upgrade to the new rom this weekend.

Softbank X01HT settings will change after April 1st!!

HTC & Softbank here in Japan have just released an updated ROM for the X01HT. They claim that current un-updated X01HTs will not be able to use the internet connection without updating after April 1st. This is due to them updating their networks.
The new rom is called RUU_X01HT_1.33.761.4_1.14.00.10.exe and can be downloaded from HTC Japan's website. Its 55MB and they say it will take 30 min to update.
This probably means that all you guys who have updated their ROMs here in Japan will have to change their network connection settings.
I hope they included some fixes, namely bluetooth A2DP, into this ROM, but I guess I will have to see what changes after I get around to updating.
Thankfully noted and downloaded...but how will this affect me changing my X01ht to english? It will be japanese again, right?
Yea, it defenetly will send you back to the Japanese version. My guess, from reading their PDFs and info on their site, is that it is a radio and password update. There is no other mention of any other update.
We have 5 months until the contents of that ROM become required. Hopefully within that time, the Awsome people that frequent this forum will be able decipher the contents and kindly tell us what needs to be changed for the people who have converted to English.
Hi, I am planning to buy a X01HT from HK and use it in US. And I am using Tmobile carrier. Just want to verify:
1. Can I upgrade X01HT to some other rom ie. dopod, imate or HTC.. and still function the same since the hardware specification is the same.
2. Does that mean these April 1st rom upgrade is only affecting users that using their phone in Japan only or it will affect us in United States as well?
Thanks

i don't know how it's sold in hk but if it is the same as the original, you need to downgrade the bootloader to 1.04 before flashing any other roms. read this thread that talks about "HOWTO: change a Softbank X01HT from Japanese to English".

the short answer is yes. this only affects people subscribing to the flat-rate data plan of softbank in japan. this rom is only in japanese and you won't need it in the us anyways.
Do we have to install the entire upgrade or is it possible to extract the update for the radio stack. 55MB is rather large...

why do you want just the radio stack? seems the radio version is 1.14.00.10 and is the same as the old one. the rom is changed from 1.33.761.3 to 1.33.761.4.
I was under the impression it was updating the radio as well...
anyway, since my WMDC is not working right now, i cannot install the rom.
i also using it in tokyo ..
but will it make the sim-lock again .. ??
did anybody have updated .. ??
