Stuck in WM2003 4.00.10, cannot use phone app. - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

(Was: Help me... Help me... Help me... Anyone help me !!!)
Hi all!
I stuck in WM2003PE v. 4.00.10. Since I have been updated to it, my XDA cannot use phone function. Cannot receive calls and while I make a call... appear a popup menu from signal: "The operation failed". I so sad, I don't know what to do now :x . Anyone help me ???
My XDA is:
Wallaby Bootloader: 5.17
ROM version: 4.00.10 (I feel a vindictive hatred for it :x :x :x )
Radio Stack: 4.21
I'm from ASIA
As you known I can not downgrade from this ROM version by exe file.
I can not downgrade from this ROM version by SD card because my Bootloader is 5.17
XDAtools is a new tool. Can I use it to downgrade my XDA? Tell me method by detail, please (sorry, I don't want to sad again).
Thank for all

You CAN downgrade to say, 3.17 (Thats my TMobile version) if you have the nk.nbf file and use the XDA Tools.
You have to do it via the Wallaby Boot loader method... by placing the ROM on an SD card (via XDA Tools). To do this, I think that you need an SD card reader, as XDA Tools does not seem to do it via the phone...
There are instructions on how to do this as well as
A BIG WARNING about 5.17 boot loader.
I did it on my TMobile phone, with Bootloader 5.15.
So, do NOT follow the instructions I have stated here, read on this site and in the forum about how to flash your rom via the SD CARD Method.
That should do it for you..
BTW, when you write the ROM to the SD CArd, it WILL erase the SDCard data, so save off your stuff before you do this.

Thank jta
But, How do I have to downgrade my Bootloader from 5.17 to 5.15?
I tried XDAtools but no success
Anyone idea?

Hi VHS,
My XDA had bootloader 5.17 like yours, and I was stuck with T-Mo 4.00.10 also. I was able to correct the situation though, by doing the following:
I changed the bootloader with XDAtools from Jeff (it has 5.15 included), by running the “Fix broken bootloader” part of the program.
Then, I used SDcard/bootloader method to go back to 4.00.05, and successful. I knew I could use XDAtools also for doing this, but I preferred the SDcard/bootloader’s way then. Mind you that, using SDcard/bootloader’s way was very easy after you downgrade from 5.17 to 5.15. Since then, I could flash whichever rom I want, but not 4.00.10.
If you want to do the same, please read as much for the detail from the various forum here and carefully.
I hope this helps.

Hi beeheij!
Can you tell me the way in order to downgrade my bootloader from 5.17 to 5.15 by detail? I tried a lot of time but no success. I don't know why. And you tell me go back v.4.00.05 by SD Card.
I'm grateful to you very much

Has it occured to you that
"Help me... Help me... Help me... Anyone help me !!!"
is a really, really, really bad subject line ? I changed it to something which may get many more people to take a look and possibly help you...
If you can still use ActiveSync, you could try to use Jeff's version of the XDAtools to downdgrade the bootloader to 5.15, and work your way out from there...

What are the Merits of changing a bootloader?

Hello Developers,
Can one of you let me know the merits of changing to a newer bootloader? I have 5.15 at the moment. Is it worthwhile to go in for version 5.17 or 5.22? Are there any improvements in these or is it just a hinderence when it comes to updating ROMs because of the SD Card Key value?
Thanks.
somehow 5.22 is never actually flashed by "Programme A", so I don't know if it even works. 5.17 gives you more trouble!!, don't use it, it has some kind of copy protection mechanism in it, which can be circumvented using the wallaby patch loader, but it makes it more difficult to use your sd card.
Thanks for your answer.

If you have 5.17 can you downgrade to 5.15?
Please, could anybody share 5.15 bootloader image with me?
Or point me out to the right direction...

Can you just update the bootloader or must you do both ROM and Bootloader? I assume you could do just the bootloader and that you can do it via SD card no?
the bootloader and os are complete independend of each other.
so, yes, you can do an update of only your bootloader.
if you want to downgrade from 5.17 you will need the wallaby-patch tool
Hello,
I have the 5.22 bootloader and reading this topoic, I see now why updating the Rom via ProgramA is not working. Is there a way to downgrade this version to 5.15? Trying the recently released XDAtools, it is not working

I'm about to fix my xda...

Hi to all. I know this has been asked several times about properly restoring a corrupted xda.
My device specs: wallaby 5.17, 64MB asian edition, last working rom is 4.00.11 eng wm2003 (which changed my model no. from pw10a1 to pw10b1, i don't know why and how).
I have a 64MB sd card and a 6-in-1 card reader.
When I reverted my rom version to d xda-developers rom 1.2 using the exe path, the flashing process suddenly stopped, it instructed me to remove my xda from the cradle, do a soft reset, and then execute the flashing again. After doing that, my screen just shows two black horizontal bars and it's background is a series of thick white horizontal lines. I can still go to the wallaby bootloader screen (which shows gsm ok).
My questions are:
1. Can I still revive my xda to a woking one? How? I wish you could guide me in a detailed way here. I tried reading the readme txt files on the xdatools installation directory but I can't seem to figure it out.
2. How can I change my model no. again to pw10a1? I need to change this back since asian rom upgrades checks this and if it's different it reports an error and does not continue the upgrade process.
Thanks so much for the time reading my problem and another thanks for those who'll lend a helping hand. Good day.
Since you have a 64 MB SD card and card reader I suggest you re-flash your ROM using the boot-loader method.
Thanks Qman.
But the method or procedure of reflashing using the bootloader method is quite ambiguous to me. It would greatly help me if there's a detailed and complete step by step instruction on how this is done.
I'm quite new at flahing roms using the bootloader. Any help to enlighten me on this is greatly apprceciated.

Help!! My xda is DEAD!!!

Hi guys i really hope u guys can help me with my DEAD xda. The problem with it now is it does start or on at all after i tried to downgrade the bootloader from 6.22 to 5.15 using the sd card method. Here is a detailed description of what i did....
First i downloaded the Updated wallaby patch tool for bootloader 6.22 from 1 of the links i found on this forum then i wrote it to a sd card using xdarit.exe It worked fine and patched my bootloader 6.22 so i could access the extra functions... Then i removed the sd card and went on to write the 5.15 bootloader file to it using the xdarit also... i selected at least 5.17 for the header cos my currect bootloader was still 6.22 (Maybe this is the cause of the whole problem?) and i went on to write the file to the sd card... after that i insert it back to my xda and select restore sd and was prompted with an invalid rom image but i selected continue since i thought i didn't write any rom images to the sd card and so the invalid rom image error.. after that i was greeted with a bootloader image heading and i pressed action to start the overwriting of the bootloader... All went well and the checksum was ok... Lastly i was asked to cold reset the xda and my xda never went back on again.... The most i could do was to get the xda to a blank white screen doing a conbinations of holding power, resetting and hard resetting.... Can you guys help me? I know i'm in deep ****.....
Man!
Well I've never messed with the boot loader as far as down nor upgrade but I think you should have used XDATools instead of XDARit to do the job.
Anyhow take a look at the below thread you might finds some useful info. there:

Hey Jaron
Send your xda to cgigate.
He can repair it for you (of course u have to pay him).
He just fix my own one and I am waiting for the returned MDA.
BTW, I've done the same silly thing that you did.
Hope it's help.

Try to upgrade the ROM to 3.17 from this site and it will unlock your device with the first boot

Good luck ...

Actually, there's enough smoke and mirrors involved in all of this that you'll quickly learn there are no dumb questions.
First, go to a site that is running a "ROM kitchen" and cook up a ROM, such as:
http://kitchen.romanweb.com/kitchen/index.php
Create a 3.17.03 ROM with no config data and uncheck all of the optional software, so you have an absolutely bare-bones 3.17.03 OM with no frills.
Second, Find some way to back up your existing ROM, either onto an SD card or onto your computer.
Third, install the 3.17 ROM on your XDA. Many here prefer the SD card method of loading; I took my chances just using the .exe with the device in the USB cradle with no problems. Once loaded, when you boot up, it will say "Your Device's SIM appears to be locked, would you like to unlock it?" You simply select "yes" and that's that... I literally had the 3.17 ROM on my device for all of one boot and no more than 20 seconds. Then load your existing ROM or a newly "cooked" feature-laden ROM from one of the kitchens back on to your device and you're back in "bidness."
I too made the journey from ATTWS to T-Mo and with a little luck, and a little help from people here, it went very smoothly.
Everyone here has a different level of experience, both on matters technical and matters XDA, so don't be afraid to ask any questions you might have so you have a clear picture of the whole process before you start.

Thanks for all of your help guys. Got it too work
Kitchen ROM Errors
Hello all,
I have been reading all day on the forum, as am an SX56 owner (former AT&T) now with T-Mobile and want to get it working and unlocked on their network.
I cooked up the 3.17 ROM as an executable, and downloaded the rom.exe file.
Each time I run it, it starts up the DOS window, then the Uploader Software, then gives me an Error 007 Dialog window, Cannot find the ROM image to upgrade your Pocket PC. Please download and try again.
I have tried this three times now, but cannot get to the 3.17 so I can unlock, and get to WM2003 and the new radio stack for T-Mobile.
HELP!!!! Thanks
Hello ..
It seems you do need to try the SD card method. Either to get SD card and reader/writer and cook your new ROM as .nb1 file, or to get a SD backup for the ROM from any other t-mobile device.
Mad Max,
1st, how do you back up your current ROM? Please provide step by step procedure.
2nd, How do you load your original ROM back in? When you load back your original ROM, does the phone get locked again?
3rd, it looks like you've done what I want to do, can you please provide a step by step on how you installed the 3.17 ROM on the XDA using the USB cradle?
Thanks in advance.
