Ok, I bought this Siemens on Ebay and it came with the Special Editon ROM 1.2. Problem is I can't ever seem to get it to connect to ATT Wireless, it has T-Mobile options but it appears to not allow ATT Wireless. It works fine as a phone and it accepts the ATT Sim Card. I went to AT&T and set up the connection so that I can connect to att GPRS. Well it connects however anytime i try to access e-mail or any website in IE or any of the web programs that came with this rom it will give me a page can't be found error. Anyone have a fix? Thank you!!!!
You should be able to connect without any problems, so I would guess your troubles are in your connection settings and not the software on your device. Do you still have the SER (a version 3 ROM) on the device or have you burned on a version 4 (WM 2003) ROM? The whole connection setting setup changed quite a bit between the two, so we'll need to know.
Where would i finf that info you requested? I unfortunately just got the device with the rom installed in it. Gotta love Ebay. I followed the tutorial on AT&T's website and it connects but any software will say page can't be found etc
This is what I did:
Setup Guide - PocketPC 2002
Setting up the Connection
Tap Start, then tap on the Settings icon from the drop-down menu.
Select the Connections tab, then tap on the Connections icon.
In the top drop-down menu, tap on the down arrow and select New...
Type in a name for your connection in the General tab window, such as AT&T GPRS. (This is the name you will see when you look in the top drop-down list on the Connections screen.)
Tap on the Modem tab, and tap on New... in the Name/Number window.
Type in a name for your connection settings, such as AT&T GPRS, then tap on the down arrow beneath "Select a modem:" and tap on the Cellular Line (GPRS) modem to select it. Tap Next to continue.
Type proxy in the Access point name field.
Tap Finish to complete the setup.
Tap OK to return to the Settings screen for the newly created connection.
Tap the Proxy Settings tab. Make sure that This network connects to the internet and This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet are both checked. In the Proxy server: field type localhost. Tap the Advanced... button.
Type localhost in the HTTP field and 9090 for the port. Type 10.250.250.250 in the WAP field and 9201 for the port. Type localhost in the Socks field and 1080 for the port. In theType: section, select Socks 4. Leave the User ID and Password fields blank.
Tap OK and tap OK to return to the Connections screen.
Making the Connection
In the top drop-down menu, select the AT&T GPRS connection you had created.
Tap Connect to establish your connection.
At the Network Log On screen, leave all of the fields blank and tap OK.
A status dialog will appear showing the status of the connection. Tap Hide to hide the status dialog.
You are now connected to the AT&T Wireless GPRS service.
Ok here you go take a look at the below thread and see if it helps:

Will the only other suggestion that I have is to roll back to the
SX56 ROM A.20.17.
It can be found at:
http://www.my-siemens.com/com.apert.../da/us/mw/mc/mc/ruuv1.11_cea.20.17wwe_aws.exe
How-To roll back/reinstall:
Download the above A&T& SX56 update.
Run the downloaded .exe file.
Once it has finished 'unpacking files', cancel out of it. It should leave everything in place in the C:\Program Files\SX56 upgrade utility.
Now download adaptROM.exe from:
http://xda-developers.com/adaptROM/
Place the adaptROM.exe in C:\Program Files\SX56 upgrade utility
Then go to DOS and run adaptROM.exe from the C:\Program Files\SX56 upgrade utility folder.
After adaptROM run the AT&T SX56 update again it will attempt to unpack files, **Say NO TO ALL when it asks to overwrite**. This time, go all through the update. It will update the Radio first, then the ROM of your device.

Work-around to proxy problem with 4.1.0 upgrade for ATT SX56
I just went through the same operation to upgrade my AT&T SX56 to the
latest pre-release of T-Mobile's 4.1.0 from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=21147&highlight=#21147
I followed the same steps as MrDJ described six messages earlier, and
had a similar problem to his and deepblack's, even after doing what Qman
suggested with the APN field in
http://xda-developers.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=17622#17622
I discovered that the problem also occurrs when connected through my
laptop's network card using ActiveSync, and that gave me a clue. So I
went back to my AT&T connection settings and did one other proxy
related thing.
Go the the Proxy tab and uncheck "This network uses a proxy server to
connect to the internet". After applying this setting, I was able to connect
through either the phone or the ActivevSync network connection. It turns
out that the "Access point name" in my configuration is still set to "proxy",
but it doesn't seem to matter since the connection doesn't use a proxy per
the Proxy tab.
Thanks again to XDA Developer's for running this site. It's one of the best
run and most helpful user communities I've ever seen.
HELP!! can't seem to setup internet connection Siemens SX56
Now that it's unlocked from AT&T wireless, I am able to use it on my Cincinnati Bell Wireless (an AT&T affiliate - we don't have AT&T service available in Cincinnati) as a phone and PDA only without internet connection. But their tech guys 'don't support that phone' so they can't give me the Access Point Name or WAP settings etc. to try and connect to the internet. I do have a GPRS connection and actually had already setup a WEBCLIENT account with them from my old Blackberry days (that phone sucked).
Anyway, I tried all the connection settingS as follows:
GPRS Connection, Cellular Line (GPRS), GPRS Connection +0 ~GPRS!
APN 'BLANK' (tried 'proxy' but that didn't work either)
PROXY SETTINGS:
PROXY SERVER: localhost
HTTP: localhost PORT: 9090
WAP: 10.250.250.250 PORT:9201
SOCKS: localhost PORT:1080
SOCKS 4
So, now what? I don't know where to get help and what more I need to do. I think that I need a string between +0 and ~GPRS but I don't know what it is or where to get that information.
When I try to connect now, I get a Trouble Connecting message:
"There is no answer at the number dialed. Verify phone number and then try again. To change your connection settings, tap Settings. If the problem continues, contact your ISP or network administrator."
I would really appreciate your input on this.
Thank you.

Hi,
Sorry for this is a newbie question...
Should the GPRS settings be installed if I do a non-corperate install?
Mine arnt, and using settings from the web doesnt seem to work. I have used GPRS on my other phone with this sim card, so its data enables. If I put an Orange sim card in the Mini s I can use Oranges` GPRS settings no problem. *But i would really like to stay with o2)
If anyone has a fool-proof step by step guide I would be greatful to see it.
ANY help at all would be greatfully recived!!!
Thanks, Paul
PS I have searched this great forum, but couldnt find anything with an answer.
GPRS
are you sure you have the GPRS connection settings on the phone?
the way to check is go to
START->SETTINGS->CONNECTIONS->CONNCETIONS->ADVANCED->SELECT NETWORKS
here you will see what connection is being used and what other connection are available to be used. if the O2 settings are not there you can add them manually.
add the settings from here:
http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html
hope this helps.

Stupid question, I don't know the imate site at all - where can you find these settings, specifically Vodafone I'm looking for. I had a browse but couldn't see them.
Thanks,

Thanks Waiho.
I am now able to send MMS on my T-Mobile Vario phone with my o2 Sim.
Can I just highlight that should anyone need to do the MMS config part of your instructions. That they will also need to setup the GPRS WAP settings.
Thanks all. You peeps really are appreciated. This website has done what T-Mobile wanted to charge £15 and a 28 day wait, in 1/2 day (remember I am still learning).

Are there any restrictions on incoming message sizes on Vodafone?
I thought it was my P900 that was at fault, it would get to about 47% and then bomb out with an unknown error. But, it received a picture the other day fine, previously it received video messages ok but they were perhaps smaller than the ones I've been sent recently.
The Wizard doesn't have a progress bar but it seems to be doing the same thing, it seems to do nothing for a while then just comes up with an error. It seems to connect to GPRS ok, and remains connected afterwards so I assume the settings are fine.
John
Hi New Zealanders or travellers to NZ.
Below are the instructions for setting up your GPRS and MMS settings in WM6.1 for the Vodafone network in New Zealand. Getting these settings to work on my HTC Wizard has been a big mission and has basically come down to trial and error. Using these settings, you will have a GPRS connection when you are out of WiFi range, and you will be able to send and recieve MMS/PXT without problem.
The manual step by step instructions on the Vodafone NZ website for the i-Mate K-JAM didn't work, and their mobile portal where the settings can be SMS'd to your phone didn't come through to mine (despite SMS working perfectly well when sending and receiving from others). Also, no other resource was any help either (even going in to the Vodafone store resulted in shruggs from the staff who basically said "you bought it overseas, we don't support that phone, we can't help you" - dicks).
So, I've assumed I'm not the only other one out there having a nightmare with VFNZ settings and have decided to give something back to the site that has helped me so much (thanks xda-developers!).
Assuming you don't have any settings existing in your phone (maybe a hard-reset is a good idea to clear everything first), these settings should work like a charm.
Setting up GPRS (Internet access)
1. On the handset, tap on the Start button.
2. Tap on Settings.
3. Tap on Connections tab.
4. Tap on the Connections Icon.
5. Tap on Add a new modem connection under My ISP.
6. Enter VFNZ Internet in the Enter a name for the connection field.
7. Select Cellular Line (GPRS) in the drop down list of Select a modem.
8. Tap Next.
9. Enter www.vodafone.net.nz in the Access point name field.
10. Tap Next.
11. Leave the User name field blank.
12. Leave the Password & Domain fields blank.
13. Tap Advanced.
14. Select Use server-assigned IP address.
15. Tap OK.
16. Tap Finish.
Setting up MMS/PXT
1. On the handset, tap on the Start button.
2. Tap on Settings.
3. Tap on Connections tab.
4. Tap on the Connections icon.
5. Under My Work Network, tap on Add a new modem connection.
6. Enter Vodafone MMS in the Enter a name for the connection field.
7. Select Cellular Line (GPRS) in the drop down list of Select a modem.
8. Tap Next.
9. Enter live.vodafone.com in the Access point name field. Tap Next.
10. Enter 'voda' in the User name field.
11. Enter 'fone' in the Password field and leave the Domain field blank.
12. Tap Advanced.
13. Select Use server-assigned IP address. Tap OK.
14. Tap Finish.
15. Tap on the Proxy Settings tab. Make sure the two boxes are unticked.
16. Tap OK 3 times to get back to the today screen.
17. Push the on the handset Messaging button.
18. Tap on Menu which is located at the bottom right corner.
19. Tap on Options.
20. Tap on MMS to bring up the MMS Configuration.
21. Tap on the Servers tab.
22. Tap on the New button.
23. Enter VFNZ MMS in the Server name field.
24. Enter 172.30.38.3 in the Gateway field.
25. Enter 9201 Port number field.
26. Enter http://pxt.vodafone.net.nz/pxtsend in the Server Address field.
27. Select My Work Network in the Connect via drop down selection.
28. Select WAP 1.2 in the WAP Version drop down selection.
29. Tap on OK.
30. Select VFNZ MMS in the MMS Configuration list.
31. Tap on Set As Default.
32. Tap OK 3 times to get back to the Today screen.
And there you have it. I believe you need to actually send an MMS message to someone before you are able to start receiving them, so make sure you do that after configuring the phone. Good luck!
You are my hero. Ive been trying for 2 months since I got one of these phones to get the settings working. Even the guy at the local Vodafone shop had NO clue what he was doing.
Awesome stuff
My pleasure, glad to help someone out

Hi micool_nz
I am using samsung Omnia mobile in NZ bought from singapore. It has got windows mobile 6.1 OS. I have been trying to set up the MMS configuration in my mobile but failed. Even now, I followed your suggestions and didnt get it to work for some reason. It keeps on saying me could not send MMS msg. Kindly help. I have options for WAP 1.0 ,WAP 2.0 or none as options and not WAP 1.2 in my mobile. Also, in step 22. I cant find server tab, instead I have sending, receiving, profile, compose and about tabs. In profile tab, I have 2 options - set profile as default or edit profile. When I go add new profile and followed your suggestions as below
MMS Profile - VFNZ MMS
MMSC - http://pxt.vodafone.net.nz/pxtsend
Data Connections - Among the options vodafone MMS and Vodafone, I selected vodafone as that is my network name. But tried with both and didnt work.
Gateway - WAP 1.0 or WAP 2.0 tried both but didnt work
IP Address - 172.30.38.3
Port - 9201
Despite of following all the above settings, my MMS is not working.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks

Samsung Omnia
Hi vbrsekhar
Did you get your internet sorted? I have been struggling for more than a month to get connected to the internet with my Omnia.
I have tried the GPRS settings as described here, but it is still not connecting.
I get this error message. "Dialed: www .vodafone. net. nz Cannot connect for unknown reason. To check your connection settings...".
Vodafone nz can't help. Samsung omnia is not supported by them. I have tried another network with different setting of course, and it works fine.
Settings
Hi Guys,
Try the settings in this CAB file, it automatically updates all NZ Vodafone settings.
The only thing I have currently found is an odd MMS problem with WM 6.5 not automatically being set up through this cab however you should be able to add it sucessfully the manual way as described above.
And don't bother with asking the Vodafone storeclerks they're hired just to sell phones, i've run into problems trying to get data plans loaded (they didn't even know what the phone was )
No Start\Settings\Connections
Hi guys
Thanks for the CAB file enclave.
I got a HTC HD2 in Australia locked to Telstra, I want to use it on Vodafone here in NZ. I have made some reg edits to get rid of some Telstra stuff, and have installed this cab file above which unlocked a few things, but still can not get the "Start\Settings\Connections" dialogue to come up.
Anybody know where in the registry I can turn this menu item back on?
I hit START, I hit the cog shaped SETTINGS icon, I get a Blue Settings menu, which has WIRELESS CONTROLS and DATA SERVICES but nothing about CONNECTIONS.
I want to set up VODAFONE MMS in the My Work Network but can't find it!
Matt
Try automatic configuration on the HD2

Hi Matt,
I too now have an HTC HD2 (International Version) and I found there is an easy way for the settings to be configured automatically from the Vodafone network. This should work for you too, unless the Telstra version of the HD2 has some network locks.
On the Blue settings menu you described where you saw Wireless Controls and Data Services, down the bottom right there should be a Menu option. Tap on that and select All Settings. From there, tap on Connections, then tap on Connection Setup.
All going well you should have two drop down lists. One with the Country (change it to New Zealand if it isn't already selected) and the second one with Operator (select Vodafone NZ if it isn't already selected). Tap on the OK option on the bottom left and the correct settings (including MMS/PXT settings) will be automatically downloaded to your phone from the VF network.
It worked a treat for me on my HD2. See how you go
Regards,
Mike
Hi Mike,
Thanks for that.
There is a MENU button and it does have a CONNECTIONS tab on it but it doesn't take me to a CONNECTION SETUP, just to the
Add a new modem connection
Add a new VPN server connection
Set up my proxy server
Manage existing connections
menu, I might try adding the vodafone MMS settings you suggeste in your initial post here and see how it flies....
...oops, we reached our limit.
Fingers too fat to type on the thing, too many hours spent in set up, it is going back to the shop.
Bye everybody, thanks for help, peace and love.

You are actually my personal jesus, thank you so much for these settings.
Hi Guys,
Any chance of a Cab for UK Vodafone setting. Tried to edit reg but cant Unlock MMS Server For Change..
Help welcome
I have the latest 3VO rom installed. No problem EXCEPT the MMS won't work.
I have tmobile. The messages just sit in the out box.
They worked fine with the original bloat software from tmobile.
I even hard reset. No help.
Maybe a setting?
Help. I have pictures of my new grand daughter I need to send!!
Did you try the setting posted in the ROM Thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4799282&postcount=529
No. The settings on the post are from the 20's. ugh... Thanks!
SMS works fine. the default settings are.
CONNECTIONS. GPRS.
Then I pick. Tmobile MMS
access point = epc.tmobile.com
everything else is blank, user name, password, primary dns, secondary dns and IP
thats all I have to choose from.
Change the "connects to" to: WAP Network
Change the "Access Point" to: wap.voicestream.com (you have to type it in, it is not a selection)
Then go to Settings/MMS Setting, press the right soft key and select MMSC Settings. Press the right soft key and select Edit. Scroll down and make sure the settings match up with the post I mentioned, specifically the "Connect via" is set to WAP Network.
YAY it worked. I'm only mildly techtarded! Thanks sooo much.
Glad you got it to work. SMS and MMS are totally different as far as how they connect on the cellular network. MMS is basically email using you cellphone number as an email address. You can also send to other email addresses using MMS.
T-mobile only uses WAP for their MMS connectivity, not the regulat data/internet. I am not sure if this is still true for 3G, but for Edge WAP is required.
Must be for 3G. I'm on it. Thanks again for rhe help and education. I appreciate it.
before i had my 3g internet running fine but my nephew got a hold of my phone and all of my T-Mobile Internet number and proxy is cleared. Does anyone know the correct T-Mobile settings for ACCESS POINT NAME and/or proxy server settings?
Also, my NETWORK MANAGEMENT is set to T-Mobile Internet then MY WORK NETWORK. is this right?
EDIT: for T-Mobile Internet I have the dialing number as "epc.tmobile.com" and the proxy server is "127.0.0.1"
for My Work Network the number is "7202542831" and there's no proxy server.
epc.tmobile.com
Uncheck the proxy server option there (under "T-Mobile Internet"), tmo doesn't use one.
The "My Work Network" settings really don't come into play for your regular data connections, so don't worry about those.
I am having problems where I get randomly booted off the network when trying to send/receive non-Outlook emails (yahoo, hotmail, etc) it tells me "error synchronizing" then takes me to the Connections settings tab. How do I fix this so it doesn't keep doing it?
OK, so I click "send/receive" in my Inbox, and a window pops up that says "Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your connections settings, tap Settings."
So I tap settings, which takes me to a screen showing my existing connection profiles. T-Mobile Internet with the number "epc.tmobile.com" is active and the only one listed. So I click "edit", asks for a name, I'll leave it at "T-mobile internet". Select a modem is grayed out with Cellular line (GPRS) selected. I click "next"...asks for access point name with the epc.tmobile.com already in the box so I leave that alone and click "next"...now it asks for user name, password, and domain...all are blank...
It really does seem arbitrary...can't think of any apps I'm using at the same time...most of the time, just resetting it back to the same settings takes care of it.
This is the only recurring error I have with my stock HD2 and I would really like to fix this once and for all...
HELP???
Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
Go look for the HTC connection wizzard cab for download. Install and run this and it will fix your settings for you.
if that didnt work and your still getin booted off even though there is no password, still check the save password box in the settings. Then go into your connection manager a turn on your data manually. using "wap.voicestream.com" seems to work better for my sweet ass. but it just depends on what part of hell your in.
OK this is my only gripe with my HD2...connection and network.
Now, since I got back from a trip where I was on roaming, my email will not work. Every time I click send/receive, it gives me a "synchronization error" and takes me to the Connections Settings menu. I have it on "auto pick", and wap.voicestream.com and epc.tmobile.com as the choices, but still will not work. I tried the connection wizard on here also and still have this issue.
Help?
EDIT: Nevermind, going to the email settings and swtiching from T Mobile Internet to T Mobile Data in advanced settings fixed it. Now all 5 of my accounts are synching just fine over 3G.
