QTEK ROM Upgrade / Urgent

Updated rom's to version Radio 4.16 and Rom 3.15.15

Hello i was wondering if the above ROM updates will work on my QTEK 1010:
ROM Version: 3.16.13 ENG
Radio Version: 3.19.01
I mean anyone tested if before or managed to upgrade his QTEK with the above ROM versions from O2 and were there any complications!!

Yes I did and it worked fine. I have it running on T-Mobile MDA, Qtek 1010 and Eurotel dataphone (rebranded Qtek). No problems.

I tried to upgrade and got the following error:

The ROM Image that you are trying to upgrade is not compatible to your pocket pc.
Here are there differences:
Your device information:
ModelW10A:007
ROM Version: 3.16
Language: English
Your upgraded image information
ModelW10A:001

It has been answered a few times, look through fora. it's a general pocket pc language change question, but applies to this one too. You need to rewrite the ROM header to match your device. Can be sort of tricky if you don't know what you're doing.

Did you install it
I have the same qtek with 3.16 and 3.19 shall I do it or wait to uk version?

If you don't mind O2 startup screen & O2 autoconfig...

Hi,
My advise to you is to try to get the latest rom upgrade from
either your supplier or distributors.
Also be very wary and careful when you got advice from this
forum on where or which website to download etc especially the
one which you do not have any informations if it suit your device
or not. If it is not suitable then after downloading it to your device
it will freeze up and you have to get it replaced. These people who
give advise take for granted everyone who view this forum are
professional like them. They never realise there are lots of new
users of the device that are trying to find out more informations.
Sometimes no warning was given to you when they just give you
the website to download etc.. I am one of those new user and also
I believe one of the victims too. I do support their intetests in this
forum but not the way some of the advise are given. Hope they
got the message. So good luck to you and happy upgrading.

Why on earth would you want to go from 3.16/3.19 to 3.15/4.16? Makes no sense to me...

Forgive me in advance if my question sounds like its coming from a dumb ****, BUT I'm new to all this XDA lark, I purchased one in London last month curently using it in Saudi Arabia (where i work 9 months out the year, ur sympathies would be appreciated ) I've been reading up all this stuff about ROM udates and my question is this (don't 4get I'm new to all this stuff)
What is the point of updating my ROM and Radio Version and how would it be of benefit to me?
I have Radio Version : 3.14.13 ENG
Rom Date: 10/09/02
Radio Version 4.08
Protocol Version: 32S54
bearing my rom/radio version in mind should update them if the updates are available?

Hi ...
The RSU you have now is the latest for Qtek ... if it works fine don't upgrade it. For the ROM, there is TMO 4.01.00 but the current EXE file has the RSU part within and actually it starts by RSU upgrade then the ROM.
So, unless you know how to extract the ROM files from this EXE, I would advice you to stick to 4.00.16 or you may try 4.00.21 as well and you can get it from www.yorch.net

It seems you tried an official upgrade file which usually do a version verification. You better try a cooked ROM from www.yorch.net

I have just purchased an Imate Jamin , saying goodbye to my treo 600.
The rom details on my Imate Jamin are as follows :

Rom date : 2/23/06
Radio Version: 1_02.20.21
Protocol Version : 4.1.13.9
Ext. Rom Ver : 2.13.9.123
IPL 2.13.0001
SPL 2.13.0001
GSM 2.20.21
Is there any rom update available for my device?
Also, there is a significant lag when I press click to take photo. Is there any way of improving/fixing this.
I would also like to know how to uninstall programs like Voice dialer and extended rom ?

Help to avoid problems in upgrade
I'm sorry , I know my question could be considered " another question made without a previous search .." but I spent some hours to try to understand without been able to summarize what is really the situation; so , please , take few second to read here:
a)I have a JAMin updated only one time from IMATE official site without any problem
b) actual rom is :
Rom Version: 2.13.9.23 WWE
Rom date : 2/23/06
Radio Version: 1_02.20.21
Protocol Version : 4.1.13.9
Ext. Rom Ver : 2.13.9.123
c) I consider my current configuration as "enough stable" and I use :
calender/contact/ IEexplorer/ilauncher/SBSH weather/pocket stocks/batterystatus(overclock to 286)/tomtom/spb backup/and a lot of other nice applications.
d)I do not want to spend a lot of time recovering critical configurations and/or soft/hard resetting the device many times ; I'm not so expert ( as this question confirm !) to manage rom problems on my device, I have to use also for work and I cannot have problems.
with this description , I would ask to the experts here what they suggest me to do in term of opportunity to upgrade and wich kind of risk could I take.
I'm ready to restart installation of described programs , but I would not manage it too many times...
last questions ; could I only obtain A2DP stereo bluetooth performance remaining with my current ROM situation ? are there other important improvement to take into account ??
As you can imagine , any comment / suggestion / etc is very aprreciated.

As far as the ROM goes, I had the same ROM as you and I switched to the Dopod ROM (see on my signature). I think it works better and faster than the iMate ROM. There is a new "official" Qtek ROM available now. It is suppose to be a good one too. Check the ftp site.

thanks to matterhorn , but I need to know what I have to do to install a rom not " imate" ; do I need particular software to do it? must I unlock or "prepare" my jamin to accept the rom you use , for example?

I have a little favouire
i own a XDA IIi pda, and i would like to upgrade it(if possible), and because i am kinda new in pda stuff, i am little afraid to upgrade it(i dont want to broke it or something). so if anyone can tell me how to do that.
i have readed lots of posts, but not quite shure where to get the right update etc.
in my device information, there are those infos:
ROM version: 1.11.00 WWE
Rom Date:1/27/05
Radio Version:1.02.00
Protocol Version 1337.41
ExtRom version: 1.11.112 WWE
so, can anyone please tell me what to upgrade(if needed) and where to get newest rom?and is there any possibility to get my xda not working after upgrade?

Looking at the device info on my Alpine, you are already at the latest versions of ROM/radio.
