Any body upgrade the internal Memory?? I am trying to upgrade my internal memery, but have no idea which chip to get and where to get it.
www.pocketpctechs.com have a 64Mb & 128Mb upgrade for the HTC platform. I'm sure that soon enough they'll have a 256mb version.

I am seriously considering the PDA2 for my next device. (My T-Mob PPCPE is choking with all of my data and need the new features) I have been confused with the various sites claiming 64MB ROM vs 128MB. The i-mate site (http://www.clubimate.com/t-DETAILS_PDA2.aspx) claims 128MB. Is it possible that 128MB is correct with 64MB user accessible?
Also, is the serial plug the same with a different pin config? I have some accessories for my Phone Edition (XDA1) I would like to use. I can mod the plug if needed.
Thanks
on my PDA2, the storage memory says "Total memory: 59.68 MB"
now as far as I'm aware, the ROM stuff is installed on the flash memory, and i would say it would definitely take up more than 5MB (to equal a total of 64mb), so i'd say i have a 128mb ROM..
It has the same serial connection as the XDAII.. not sure if this is the same as the XDAI tho. i use all my xda II stuff with the PDA2.
Yea omni is right same specifications on my PDA2 aswell its is showing 64mb of FLASH ROM that means 64mb is hidden ...that maked 128 mb of rom...yea you can use all accessories of XDA1 on pda2..
BUT keep it in mind pda2 has serious problem of battery life...mine gives my standby time of 10 hours and when i am using the phone + pda its drainsin 6 to 8 hours...which is surely no match with XDA1 which gives around 1 whole day ...
Thank-you for the info.
i am wrong here infact pda2 uses the same accessories as ....i mate pocket pc which is xda2
How do you like the speaker (phone, etc) volume? Is it acceptable? I know there is issue with PDA2k.
As far as battery life, there are the entended batteries and the backpack available. Do you have the backpack?
every thing else was Ok only the battery problem is there ...but i sold my pda2
You all are wrong.
Himalaya(or Xda II for O2) has two types of memory:
1. RAM(volatile memory): 128mb total, 126mb user accessible
2. ROM(flash memory/ non-volatile memory): 64mb total, 14mb user accessible
You may ask why is the user accessible ROM so little. Actually, they are used to store your BIOS. It's just like when you hard reset your Xda II, the phone will install something(default drivers and softwares) at first. Don't forget, they are similar to Windows XP, occupies 64-14 = 50mb of ROM.
A = Once, I broke my O2 big screen, nothing is accessible until it was repaired. When I looked through my storage, all my info was inside, all intact.
B = In fact, I love ROM very much. The more user accessible ROM there is, the better.
A => B
Man...that thread...... was four years old.....
...seriously
Have you guys seen this?

Lucky Eten owners, *&%$^$ HTC :x
Why is it that there are different roms for all the different phones? On pc you can install Windows on any hardware.
First of all, if you noticed the Storage on Mini/JAM/MDA Compact/Magician, you only get a paltry 7MB....7MB out of 64MB!! what the?
WM5.0 uses persistent storage so nothing can stored in the 64MB RAM unlike the current WM2003 devices.
If you look at the current HTC WM5.0 devices like Dopod 818 Pro, out of the 128MB ROM, you get only 35-40MB storage space.
So you do the math, after Mini gets upgraded to WM5.0, how much storage do you get?
-- someone mentioned "what about BigStorage?" you get a total of 27MB after upgrade.
BigStorage is NOT supported by your device maufacturer. In fact, it automatically voids whatever warranty you have left on your device. So BigStorage does not come into consideration at all.
heyy members can anybody tell me upto how the memory of elfin can be expand like up to 8gb ,16gb or upto 32 gb
If you mean the internal memory of the Elf, like how much it holds without an expansion card, then to upgrade it to any of the capacities you've listed is out of the question.
I'm not sure, but the Elf/Elfin can only support up to 128mb, and that's in more 'advanced' models. Mine supports 64mb storage space, that's it.
If you want to "expand" it, I suggest getting an miniSD card and tweaking your Elf so it can support them (not sure if it's done natively, you'll have to have a root around here. Mine did straight out of the box, but it was second hand). I have a 4GB miniSD in it right now and am currently considering swapping that for an 8GB as I have so much music and films micro-smalled onto it!!!!
Best of luck, post back if you need any help/advise.
It can support up to a 32 GB MicroSD Card
thanks lokosis and frank
4GB sd (mc) Sandisk, works fine
4GB micro-sd (mc) Sandisk, works fine, on brand new Orange (WHITE) htc touch - no messin' / O.O.T.B. (out of the box), except the hidden flap on the side / remove battery cover (up), and inserting fingernail, each end, and "read the manual" - " ' htc = innovate' " ??????wth
Just dissmayed - (B A don't seem to have separate "touch screen/digitizer, under all the gold foil on rear!"!!!!!)
If Any Seniors/Veterans Would, Choose the "ramdisk / non-ramdisk - U.G. of ROM" - for the future?

I don't know about the internals of it, but if there's an extra memory installation spot, you could install more if you can find the modules.
I've done this with my Xbox (back in my modding days) and went from 64 to 128 Mbytes of ram.
But then again, it's ONLY if there's an extra slot.
as far as memory cards go, it supports up to 32GB, but it would sometime struggle with 8GB. Im using a 4GB card, which works fine, but i wouldnt advise going over 8 if your thinking of getting a micro SD card for it.
When you say struggle, what do you mean exactly? It slows down or doesn't work altogether or what?
So I'm a tad confused... so allow for this question please. The GSM counterparts of the galaxy s had 8-16gb of internal memory thanks to internal SDcards - the Samsung Fascinate and I believe its the same with any cdma versions use 2gb of internal storage. There was a forum post I read somewhere that there was a rumor that this was because it was NAND flash memory and not an internal memory card. However, theres obviously a 'lag fix' for the fascinate and the only reason we would need a lag fix (afaik) is if it were infact still an internal SDcard running the slower samsung partition and not ext3 or 4. If this is the case, why was the internal memory limited to 2gb instead of 8gb? Any answers would be greatly appreciated and thank you for your time to answer, in advance.
I would also like to know if this "internal" memory is up-gradable. If it is a removeable SD card, can we replace with a larger one? For file sharing and things of that nature my Fascinate is harder to deal with than my friends Vibrants. They can transfer a movie lets say from their SD card to their phone, and then transfer to my SD card. I cannot obviously do this due to the lack of phone memory. I have tried to take mine apart to see if there is an internal memory card, but was afraid to dig any deeper into the hardware. Once the screws were removed the phone was not cooperating with the dissassembly. I didn't want to start forcing stuff and break something. Any ideas??
there is not a removable SD card of any type inside your phone. No manufacturer would sacrifice the internal space or spend the money to include an internal card slot.
There are however cases where some manufacturers have chosen to utilize an SD memory chip soldered to the board. You can bet this is done for cost reasons.

Hi guys,
I have a quick question for those of you who have a good understanding of the HD2's internals.
Would it be possible to take a T-Mobile HD2 and replace the cellular antenna from a Telstra HD2? I'm asking because I'm trying to find a way to increase the internal storage of my HD2 to 1GB. The 512 MB internal storage is the only thing holding me back from thinking that this is the perfect phone.
Any other ideas on how to upgrade the internal storage of the T9193 would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Krisbo
