Hi, Ive got an older T-mobile unit that was pasr tof the Beta program in the US. As you can see from the stats below it is running older versions of everything. I have started having problems, most that I have not seen on the boards before so my next thought is to update the ROM.
The unit is unlocked and I use it on Cingulars network. I am looking for suggestions on which update to use, 3.14 or Special Edition 1.01, etc.

I would ofcourse advise to flash our Special Edition v1.1.
Please use the bootloader to save your current ROM and share it online somehow if you can: we'd like to have it in our collection.
Ive saved my ROM. I have tried to update to 1.1 but I am still getting the 012 Error that says my ROM update is not compatible. I am using AdpatROM in the same folder. Any suggestions???

We've mostly tested with 4.x ROMs, but there's no reason it shouldn't, until they lock us out again like they tried for 4.20, at which point we need to spend another day or two getting back in.
Thanks for the reply but the radio version would that be the same as the protocol version in the 'Device Information' window?

As a new xda user I have been reading up on flashing my machine to the Windows Mobile 2003 Pocket PC Phone edition. I am trying to find out if every rom will work on my phone.

Rom Version 3.14.17 ENG
Rom Date 10/11/02
Radio version 4.17
Protocol Version 32s54
I was looking forward to updating it to the new version but o2 Asia (I assume my xda is the asian model) says that an upgrade is unlikely.
Can I update it with one of your roms or possibly the WM2003?

Yup, you can upgrade it, and anyone should.
If you asked me two days ago you would get a negative answer. But last night for the second time I upgraded my XDA again to WM2003, and very very happy with it. Specially the telephone and SMS facilities.
When I upgraded first time last week, I was not happy at all, my application programs somehow hang the XDA, most probably Battery Pack older version. Now I am using Spb Pocket Plus instead.
If you want to upgrade to WM2003, just make sure that all your application program can run in it. You cannot trust the signal bar, so I use an excelent program called IP Dashboard test it.
My old set-up was exactly like yours, and now:
ROM version: 4.00.01 ENG
ROM date: 05/16/03
Radio version: 4.21.00
Protocol version: 32S54

To make mine look official, where can i get a proper copy of WM2003? I know its not officially endorsed or anything but I want it to at least look the part.
I'm one of these people who love having the newest look to their mobile and as its new I havn't put any extra programs on it yet. (Apary from the sms fix)
and how would I go about getting it and resoring it if the update failed. ?
You may not be able to get an 'official' copy of WM2003, but there are plenty of developer-releases floating around :wink:
Search the forums and read as much as you can and you will have your XDA upgraded in no time.
If I'm not happy with WM2003 can anyone tell me if it is possible to downgrade with the official Programme a/b that can be downloaded from the 02 website.
I downloaded it just in case I had any problems a while ago. Touch wood *knock Knock* It hasn't been a problem for me.
you can down-grade. the best way of doing it is to down-grade to XDA-developers v1.2 then to O2 3.xx

Hello, I'm farely new I was running I think 3.17.03 ENG i think and I wanted to see wm2003SE and I updated it But I've got few questions
I'm running Radio Version 6.18 and my rom version went back down to
3.04.00 ENG is that good that it down graded from 3.17 to 3.04
I'm in IT so I know alot of stuff and I'm thinking that when you downgrade from video drivers you loose stuff so is this like video drivers downgrading?
and the Radio Version does that control how well you recieve Signal? and Do I have the latest version

Versions are just numbers. If anyone decides to "create" a new version, and it should have the number 3.04. than it will have the number 3.04.
In this case it doesn´t cause any loosing stuff.....

Newest Radio Version is 6.25.0 and you can get it here for example:

1. i have read that xda2i cant be upgrated to windows 2005 is it true?
2.what is the latest version for xda2i and where i can downloaded it.
3. i have seen many people using radio verion 1.18,1.19 but i am using 1.00 can i upgrade my ROM version of my xda2i and which is the best radio version for xda2i keeping in mind signal reception,battery,voice clarity,bluetooth speed etc

Here ya go....
1) Correct. You can't upgrade your 2i to WM5.
2) I would recommend downloading one of pug's ROMs. You can find them here: ftp://xda:[email protected]/Alpine/O2_Roms_Camera_Fixed_Bug/
If you hate the o2 active stuff, then download the one marked "o2stripped" (I would recommend this one). If you like the o2 active stuff, then download the other.
3) The latest Radio ROM available for the 2i is version 1.04. If you upgrade your ROM using one of pug's rom, then your radio will automatically be updated to version 1.04.

Got a problem I'm hoping someone can help me with.
I was updating my rom and it all went wrong. When I turn my xda2i on now I get the normal setup then its goes to a black screen with serial written on it (or usb if it is in the cradle), and apart from that it does nothing.
My laptop no longer recorgnises the device so I can't restore the old rom or restart the process????
Can anyone help please?

You're in what is called "Bootloader". You're OK. You can do one of two things:
1) Simply re-attempt to "reflash your ROM" with one of the ROMs you downloaded.
2) Reflash your ROM with a ROM update provided your manufacturer. I couldn't get my device to update with one of pug's rom (it go stuck around 18%) so I had to reflash my Alpine with an original ROM released from a manufacturer.

Does anybody know the latest offical ROM etc for the T-Mobile Vario2?
Mine is off back to T-Mobile tommorow for checking out over battery life.
My current details are:

ROM Date: 06/19/06
Radio Version: 1.05.05.00
Protocol Version: 32.36.7010.04H (Whatever that is!)
I would like them to update it whilst its away, but I wonder if there is a newer one I can officially have.

Well, received back today.
Repair docket said replaced mainboard/unit exchanged plus software upgraded.
The phone is new as imei number is different.
But ROMS etc are all same version.
