Building a new Qtek ROM - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

Hi,
I am building a custom ROM for the Qtek. I want to use version 3.16.52. Will this be possible with the 'mkrom' distribution? The only reason I ask is because the description on the 'mkrom' page is a bit unclear. It says:
Next, find a ROM image containing the O2 '3.17.03 ENG' ROM (or any ROM file that was based on this ROM after processing by mkrom).
Click to collapse
Does this mean that I need to have only the O2 3.17.03 ROM? Or can I just use the NBF file from the Qtek 3.16.52 ROM?
Any help is appreciated.

You can base on the Qtek, we did for the previous version of our ROM too. Please note that the 3.16.52 Qtek has a nasty bug when replying to an SMS from someone who's in your contacts.
If I may ask: why base it on the Qtek?

Thanks for your reply. You're right, the Qtek's 3.16.52 SMS bug is a really nasty one. The reason I was basing it on the Qtek is because I own one. Plus this will be my first attempt at a ROM compilation other than the 3.17.03.
I did find some strange messages from 'mkrom' itself with the 3.16.52. It was worrying me so that's why I decided to post. To give you an example, I get this message:
file: Couldn't find any magic files!
Click to collapse
Would this cause a problem?
BTW, that AdaptROM utility is an absolute jewel!

#Itsme, who wrote both mkrom and adaptROM is gone for another 2 weeks. But you're welcome to look at the code, it's all pretty readable perl.

I use a small batch file called burn.bat:
Code:
c:
cd "\Program Files\Programme A"
del English\NK.nbf
copy %1 English\NK.nbf
adaptROM
"PROGRAMME A"
and have defined it as "open" action for .nbf files in the registry. So when I double-click an nbf, and click a few OKays, the phone is flashed.

Thanks. I'll have a look at the code till Itsme gets back.

WM 2003 OS on XDA1

Hi
Is it possible to get WM 2003 on the XDA 1. ie upgrade the 2002 version supplied with the XDA1
If so is there a step by step guide to the process.
Thanks in advance for any help
Cheers
Ric
I read this message on this forum and would like some help please
"T-mobile WM 2003 for MDA I will be available 29.Dec.03 ???"
Yes it is possible to upgrade your XDA I. I put the T-Mobile Backup-Rom provided here on my XDA I and it works perfectly. How to do it, is explained there as well. But be aware that the ROM provided there is a German one. I don't know how to change it into an English one.
C U @ Mallorca
The ENG version is here ftp://tmobile:[email protected]:21 .. but be careful as it contains the upgrade for both RSU and ROM.

the upgrade you trying to put on it is the american version hence tmobile.... which is 900/1900 the B version

Where can i found an european wm2003 upgrade (in english, not in german)?
marco
the versions of wm2003 you can only use are:
v4.00.01, v4.00.05 & v4.00.11 no other versions of wm2003 as of yet the others are american versions.
www.yorch.net
Gaz, ur right but the A,B difference is significant only for RSU upgrades. That's why it's performed with TMO 4.01.00 file as it contains both RSU and ROM upgrades. But if you use Winzip to extract the ROM files only, I don't think it will show this error.
However, I 'm still waiting to see a kitchen option based on 4.01.00, but seems the focus now is on XDA II stuff
Is there any chance you could send me the 4.01.00 file, can't find it anywhere. Ronnie
just check 6 posts higher in this thread
Your a GOD, thanx
Hello Biso;
I downloaded the file, right clicked on it and used the winzip options to unzip it to a folder where I found a file named upgrade and a folder named English. I found the folder to contain the rsu, so I did not try to use it as you recommended, and I double clicked on the upgrade.exe file. Unfrotunately the same error message of device a and b came in and I could not continue.
What I am doing wrong.??

Nothing wrong, All upgrades made by operators will do such check and since your device seems to be PW10A then you will always get this error if you use the EXE method.
In the \English directory, you will find a file named NK.nbf which should have a size of 32 MB. After extracting this file, you have 2 options:
1. If you have SD card and reader/writer, put it on the SD card and flash your XDA through the bootloader.
OR
2. Use the XDAtools from this site and make the source is the NK file and the destination is the XDA flash ROM.
2. Use the XDAtools from this site and make the source is the NK file and the destination is the XDA flash ROM
Thank you very much Biso, you were of great help. I just flashed the rom and I know I will enjoy it. by the way I changed my device to qtek 1010, to have an extra 32 of ram.
BTW do you know a cool site from which I can change the skin of the phone. I just did not like the TM logo

NBF to NB1???

I have the AWS WM2003 upgrade (NK.NBF) and I'm trying to find a way to convert it to an nb1 file to write to SD so I can load my new rom. I have the 4.00.05 ENG right now, and trying to run the utility generates that I dont have a compatible version to upgrade from.
Any ideas? (sorry I'm still a little new to this)

Which Version is the AWS WM2003?
Normally yo should be able to do this with the XDA-Tools
Take a look at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=4865
NBF means, that the file has the rom (.nb1) and the bootloader (.nb0) included...

ROM version A.30.07ENG Radio version A.33.02 Protocol v 1.3.3 So I should just be able to copy just the NBF to the SD card and then run bootloader?
yes, the xdatools will detect what type of file you have. and process it accordingly.
what are those rom versions??
I am not familiar with those rom and radio versions. are you sure they are for xda 1. They may be for xda 2 and this is why you cannot install them.
For xda 1 the latest rom released i know about is the one by tmo 4.01.00 and the latest version of radio stack for A devices is 3.25.01. for B type devices I am not sure but I think it is 6.24
This is the pre-release ROM and radio stack for the AWS Siemens SX-56 (XDAI). They are due for release on the 30th of this month from the Siemens website. If anybody wants it, give me a good FTP site to up it and I'll be glad to up it there!
Just wanted to let everyone know the flash went flawlessly, and I'm now enjoying using my AWS WM2003 ROM! Thanks for all your assistance and for having this forum available!

WHich Radio Stack version is incorporated?
Still 4.21 or is it a higher one? how can I distinguish this from the RSU upgrade file?
Rstack 3.23
I did:
From there go to your Start folder inside the Windows folder. From there find the link to the RSUpgrade file and delete it. (Don't worry about deleting a file, this is just a link to it and we will re-install a good copy of this file)
Now, restart your PDA. It should return to your normal desktop but with no phone connection as the Radio Stack is not installed. From here, place it back on it's cradle/usb connection.
Just as stated above by Matt, you need a copy of the RSUpgade installation or a ROM upgrade insallation that includes the RSUpgrade. Unpack this, I used Winzip to do this. Find these files:
monitor_ul_bs.m0
monitor_ul_bs.map
RSUpgrade.cp64
RSUPgrade.exe
Now, using Activesync, explore to your Windows folder on your XDA and copy those files from your Computer to there. They must over write all the old files.
Disconnect from your PC and run the RSUPgrade.exe file from file manager. It worked 10 for 10 when I did it this way so it should work for you also.
and ended up with radio stack 3.23.11 Protokoll 32S54
NO idea what it means for me going back from 4.21?

Hi Stefan !
Work's great! And all other cooked app's too.
Only the AutoStart folder is not correct:
-Handsfree(.exe)
-poutlook
-SMSReceiver(.exe)
-Ussd(.exe)
This files (.ece) are now DLL's - I think the are called by a nother app.

Unlock WM 2003 SE for Qtek 1010

Greets.
I have copied the ROM of a 1010 from a buddy that is protected with a key - presumably the key is cooked into the ROM using a unique device identifier. I've used Jeff's toolset to copy the ROM and create an SD image which i then loaded onto my Qtek.
The thing hangs on the boot screen now and won't go any further.
Any suggestions as to how to get around this?

This may be a problem of the Romspace used for this ROM. It uses also a "free region" that was used before for the permanent save.
The unique device identifier is also a problem. Until now i do not know how this key is build and where it have been integrated in the ROM......
As much as i know it's just udeless this ROM...

Qtek S200 (Prophet) roms

Hello All,
I'm a newbie in this forum so forgive me if I'm asking something that has been already asked (I've looked but couldn't find it). Does anyone know where I can find the official Qtek S200 roms, I'm hesitating a little bit to upload a non qtek rom just in case something goes wrong. I wouldn't want to end up with a € 600 phone that doesn't work.
Thanks
If you want the WWE version, I think this is the one:

Don't afraid of non-Qtek ROM Qtek is very lazy in update release. I got Dopod 2.15.13 on my born S200. Thу latest Qtek available is as old as 2.9.7.
The ONLY difference between the devices from differend brands is the logo on the panel. Sure.

Just as a newbie.. I got Qtek S200 in German (bought in Switzerland) and want WWE version. I guess this thread shows the right steps. Am i right ? the procedure shown here (with the ZIP file) is good for language change ? Does the S200 will change ALL menus on Win Mobile to English ?
Thanks a lot for your answer !

The file in the ftp is in fact an .exe zip file (a self-exploding/executing zip file) where you can unzip it either with winzip or winrar. Try opening it with either one of them.
