Can anybody tell me (and other xda users as well) how I can copy and backup SMS files from my xda (to PC via synch cable or to SD/Multimedia Card.
Thanks in advance.

have a look at http://www.yorch.net/. Goto Software and have a look at the SMS Export tool.
I don't know if it works but found the link here http://www.pocketpcpassion.com/foru...2e18e216eb020121cd8135128cd080&threadid=30728[/url]

Hi all, I'm new to this forum and think it's pretty awesome.
I have a UK Xda and upgraded to the latest official roms.
I did a full synchronise and also a full backup and went through the normal instructions, however I found that my sms-inbox messages was missing (along with other files) after re-syncing (after the upgrade).
I restored some files from the messages folder in my backup-image file (Backup.stg) to the windows/messaging folder in my xda, but cannot read these.
Is this the correct location for sms messages?
Is it right to copy these back to the original folder (I used HPCVault)?
Why can't they be read?
Is there a better way to restore my messages plus missed calls etc?
Any help would be appreciated - thanks

Hi
I need to know how to backup tomtom2 favourites before unlocking and then upgrading to 1.60 uk official rom update please?
Any help would be great as I'd like to do this today
I've just done exactly this and didn't have any problems with loosing my favorites
This is what I did (can't guarantee it will work for you but it did for me!)
Sync your files with the PC
Copy all the files to a new folder (i.e. making a backup copy of them)
Run the unlock tool.
Run the update.
Create new partnership and sync up (don't copy the saved filed yet)
Reinstall all your applications (i.e. TTN2) (via the activesyn add/remove programs)
Soft Rest XDAII
Sync (with files option selected)
Now copy backed up files to the new sync folder on the desktop and resync the XDA II
this should now mean the old settings are now transferred to the new rom and the favorite locations will be saved
Hi mate #
thx for the reply but can you tell me where this data is kept? What file etc... As I have sync'ed but i dont see any files that overtly look like tt2 files....
Cheers in advance

UPDATE.

I've taken the plunge, unlocked it and updating as I type... Fingers crossed, did a full backup before hand using active sync, not sure if using restore is a great idea tho?
On my XDA II the TTN2 settings appear to be saved in the My Documents folder (i.e. the one that's sync'ed with the desktop). On mine the exact folder is called "Tom Tom Navigator Settings" and contains 2 files one that appears to be used for the program as a whole whilst the other appears to be linked to the Map (Great Britain in my case)
Hope it works for you.
does anyone have any idea how to load the contacts onto the o2 atom from the storage card , where i had backed up the contacts from the o2 XDA2 ..................?
1. Rename existing pim file (device)
2. Copy sd card pim to device folder.
3. Reset device. contacts etc. are now restored on the device.
4. Delete the one you renamed.
I hope thi is what you are looking for.

There is no way to get the contacts stored in WM2003SE and load them in WM2005 using pim or compactflashbackuppim.
The only thing you can do, is using the PPCBckpContacts application which allows to backup the contacts in a csv file. There is a WM2003SE version and a WM2005 version. Just do a backup in WM2003SE and restore it in WM2005.
This application can be found here:

Hi, thanks!
It installs ok but when I run it, it gives me an error message 'You cannot run this program on this device'
I guess it's only meant for Atom Exec. I'm trying to run it on Atom.
Anyone have any idea how to backup SMS on WM5 devices? I used to use Jeyo Mobile Companion 1.1 on WM2003SE and it works very well but it is not compatible with WM5. Anyone have any other software? SPB backup & Sprite backup, does a 'full' SMS/email backup and they are not able to restore individual SMS. Looking for one that can backup automatically and can restore individual SMS, that would be great!
Thanks!

Try Jeyo Mobile Extender for MS Outlook 2003. This is a PC program, that will be "embeded" into MS Outlook and will synchronize your SMSs like a mail folder in your MS Outlook through Activesync.
I use this program to backup and restore SMS... It was for Dopod 818 on WM2003, but works without problems on WM5 and Atom... You just have to create a folder called "Storage" or "Storage Card", then backup your sms there by choosing the path inside the program... Then you can move the .sms file that was created where you want to keep it safe, and copy it back into one of the two folders I wrote before when you want to restore your messages.
Yup, it's working

but guys, u c.. jeyo sms backup from atom exec is much betta than all of these coz, it allows to backup even wen u have folders created.. no progy hav been able to do this, i've checked lots.. can somebody pls find a way to run it on the atom??
Jeyo Mobile Extender 2.0 for Outlook
Dear Appu
Jeyo Mobile extender is an ad on to Microsoft Outlook and it syncs the SMS folder into the outlook. So even if you have a hard reset it will be in the outlook for u to sync back the SMS folder into your ppc. Works for WM05 and i'm using an Atom. , only thing missing is MMS to be backed up.
check it out. psst this is a secret almost everyone know.. the crack is also available theheheeheh.
check this out for more info on jeyo http://www.jeyo.com/index.asp
cheers
nope sultan.. it doesnt bak up folders i've created.. folders which can be created wen i want under the inbox folder... only jeyo sms backup which comes with the atom exec rom has been able to do it for me yet.. but it doesnt work on the regular atom rom.. and cant even use the exec rom coz of its grafics driver somehow gettin reseted with drain of battery or, removing the battery.. :?
Nice program. Got all my incoming messages fine, but all sent items are blank?
It's also mostly in a language I don't have fonts for I think! Lots of squares on the screen! Still, simple to use - menu is in English (Lucky for me! )
Thanks for posting it!
Hey, can I view the messages on PC when I back them up? How do I make sure I have ALL the messages backed up?
Hello people
I have a .pib file from PIMBackup and i will this file open in Android Backup app. I fand SpriteMigrate but this app is not work on me HTC HD2 (I cant select file )
Is a alternative app? (SpriteMigrate)
Sprite Migrate works find on HD2 i use it.
You need to read the instructions on how to use sprite migrate, it requires you install the sprite migrate cab and create a backup on your HD2 then install sprite migrate on your pc and take the file created on the HD2 and convert using the PC software, then copy this file to your HD2 sd card, in Android goto android market and install sprite migrate, then look up the file you have put on your SD card.
Simples
thx makidoja for insttuction
i probe this, and then send you result
anyway to export my smses to android?
Sprite Backup is don't work :-/ i can't find a key on web
A new Solution, but don't work yet - I need help !
Hey guys out there,
maybe i have a solution for this horrible problem.
The solution is: Sprite Mobile
You need following cabs, which are all for free
Sprite Backup Mobile für Windows Mobile -> download
Attention - it's a 10-Day-Trail Version and after this Period you can only restore files you've backed up before.
For Android you need this app:
Sprite Migrate BETA 2 Infoseite + Downloadlink + QR-Code or search for "Sprite Migrate BETA 2" in the market
Now the problem is:
1. Do the Backup in WM.
2. At Android you install the other app.
PROBLEM:
Sprite Migrate doesn't find any File nor on the Device nor on Storage Card. But I saved this Backup-File via ActivSync to the Storage Card.
I've tried to upload the file and download it via Browser in Android - failed.
Android converted the file from *.pbf to *.txt data.
Bluetooth doesn't connected to my PC. Maybe this is only a problem by me.
I use Android MCCM HD V2.0 from here ... maybe someone else can try this method with another version of android, which is released here and can report ?
come on guys, maybe that's a little step to a solution working very fine and helps a lot of people here.
thx for helping

i'm sure you can sync it up to gmail as well and then synch whilst in android... or am i going mad?
yes you're right ... but with gmail you CAN'T sync your sms, call log ... only contacts, calendar and tasks IMO
but maybe i found my fault ... i'm testing something
are you interested ?
but there is this...

Only problem is: The beta expired somewhere juli 2010 ...
AND: No new version since januari 2010 ...

Just change date in your device to year <2010, then the app will work.
but I have a problem, the app runs, but with no result, it hangs there
how can I export my SMS?
