H E L P ! XDA BLOCKED!!! - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

HI,
I've tried to upload Radio rom of xda (old 4.08) to the newest 4.14 from o2 ie.
PDA has crashed !
Now when I try to start, the pda boots but it remains a white screen with a blue bar on the top. Try to push volume button but today screen not appears.
I've made an sd card with folder 2577 (in wich I've put autorun.exe) and put.cab file in sd root
Restarted but nothing happens (I see again white screen and blu bar on the top)
PLEASE HELP !!!

Did you ever solve this problem??
Dan

Yes solved
Thanks

May I ask how you solved it? Mine does the same now after a crashed radio upgrade.

Enter the bootloader (you can find how here: http://www.xda-developers.com/bootloader/) and choose Boot to Sd option
Then soft-reset the device. When blank screen appears pull the volume button. Insert the Sd in the slot. The autostart.exe should start with the radio upgrade. Follow steps for upgrading and everything should go ok
Let me know
bye

sd boot flash won't work - SOLVED!

Luckily I found ArticCat's solution in this forum... thanks ArticCat. Here's his procedure (copied on the thread he posted it, with my additions in parentheses, italicized):

Post subject: I faced the same problem here is the solution
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Look what you should do:
write the Wallaby-patched-tool.nb2 using the old xdarit (put it in the Diagnostics field on the program, and be sure to check the checkbox beside it and uncheck the other two checkboxes above it) and be sure to select Pre-5.17 before writing to your SD card
insert your card into your xda and boot into the wallaby boot loader and once you have the OK, press the "Action" key. at this point you should reach the patched menu of wallaby boot loader.
Remove your sd-card, re-write to it the PPC2003PE.nb1 file but this time make sure to select At least 5.17 bootloader, the re-insert it into your xda and select Restore
It should work fine
Hope this helps

Hi all. My device is running on WBL 5.17.
I've written nk.nbf to my sd card (via a card reader) using OSImageTool. Popped it in my xda sd slot and did a power button + soft reset to enter the bootloader. All I get is the wallaby bootloader screen with a GSM Ok message on the lower left corner. No message of any updating/upgrading appears.
Moreover, whenever I use the flash tools in the wallaby (ce rom to sd, boot to sd, ce+boot to sd, gsm rom to sd) I get the following screen:
SD Backup
===========
CARD Key
I n v a l i d
PRESS ACTION
TO EXIT
Another thing, my xda doesn't boot properly. I always get the screen with garbled black and white lines and two white boxes on the upper part (I think this is the indicator or the progress bar of the interrupted rsu exe upgrade I did which cause my xda inoperable). Pressing the power switch doesn't do anything.
So I have no other way to turn off my device except pressing the hard reset hole. But when I do this, doing the power swith + soft reset combination won't work because I need to press the hard reset hole again to turn on my device and I'll be back again on the garbled screen with no way of turning off my device normally.
I read somewhere in this forum that you the xda must be off before entering the wallaby (doing the power switch + soft reset combination). I did the power + hard reset combination but it still gives me the wallaby screen and the flash tools error mentioned above.
What do you think should I do now to have my xda flashed using the sd card method successfully? I can't use the cradle because my xda won't boot even run the os, it just shows the garbled screen with the two boxes mentioned above.
I got the patch (nb2) file onto my sd card succesfully as you describe, but when i run the bootloader, I dont see the new 'patched' menu. Just a diagnostics menu. if i press the "contacts" but when the bootloader starts i see the standard 5.17 image copy menu which doesnt let me go from SD card to Rom
Hello,
How can get the file Wallaby-patched-tool.nb2 ?
The patch is here:
http://xda-developers.com/XDArit/wallaby-patch-tool.nb2
I and many others never got it to work. My wallaby never did what others describe this patch is supposed to make it do. I tried the 1k and 3.5k options too.
I ended up changing my bootloader to 5.15 using bootloaderfix.bat in the binaries folder of XDAtools. Worked fine, just make sure you have the wallaby connected via activesync before you run bootloaderfix.bat

ROM Upgrade Crash - Bootlauncher fix off SD Card?

I installed the O2 rom upgrade 1.6044, and let both my PC and XDA do their thing for an hour or so. Then my PC screen realeased to desktop and my XDA only had the "Radio Upgrade" notice on it. I reviewed the install directions and it said "Follow screen instructions and perform a hard reset" I didn't have screen instructions, so I proceeded with the hard reset. (everything is backed up!) I am now hung up on the 2nd splash screen with the bubbles (1st splash screen has ROM version 1.6 and "GSM Off" in red letters at the bottom) , and the XDA won't go any further.
From reading this board, it sounds like I need to reset my bootlauncher, but can this be done from an SD card? Do I move the ROM to the SD card from my PC, then restart the XDA with the SD card installed? How is this done? The support center wants to keep the unit for 5 days, and I can't get to HK until the weekend. I'd like to fix it on my own before then.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
The same sort of this has happened to me, have one XDA in for repiar that freezes on the first screen, looks as though someone has done a bad upgrade and ruined the bootloader.
Could some one please tell me how to boot an XDA from the SD card, what files do I need on the card? etc...
Thanks,
MRS
you need a memory card about 64MB. Here is the most easiest to do and very safety
Borrow PPC PHONE from other and put the SD card into it.(any carriers don't worried your phone remains unlocked)
now. hold the power button at the same time use stylus to reset the big hole on the left(not he small hole for battery) then remove the stylus out of the reset hole
Now the screen will boot up in bootloader ( you can see WALLABY Boot Loader)
now press the contact button (on the left siee below the power button)
you will see FLASH TOOLS
SELECT CD+BOOT TO SD
THEN HIT ENTER ( THE BIGEST BUTTON WIHICH YOU CAN SELLECT UP DOWN LEFT RIGHT)
NOW WAIT FOR IT Download to SD card and will notice as it done
Remove it from the pocket pc phone, then put it on your pockt pcphone to upgrade the boot loader and the window mobile
Now, hold down power button and press on reset hole(like you did on the previous ppc phone) and remove the stylus
Now you can see this on the screee"
SD Download
CARD TYPE:
CE OS
Press ACTION
To Download
or
Press REC
to EXIT
You will choose Press ACTION to upgrade you Pocket PC Phone.(the bigest button left right up down) Press it down.
Now wait for it complete upgrade about 5 minutes.
After that you reset the battery hold and wait 1 minute and press the battery hole to boot up pocket pc phone.(right small hold on the right)
Now you have the carrier that you install (wheither AT&T, T_Mobile.....) Now if you want to upgrade WM 2003, go ahead to offical site to get free upgrade 2003.
hoaghon, your process is perfect but suits only XDA I, not XDA II
For the mentioned problem, is the device still recognized by ActiveSync or not ?

Newbie: cannot install Hard SPL for love nor money help!!!

Before anyone ask's I have read all the posts regarding installing the Hard SPL but still have the same problem.
When I connect through Vista 32 via WMDC it recognizes my device fine, I then follow the steps in the tutorials but as soon as I press the button to update the ROM image it goes into the 3 colour screen and then into the updating ROM progress bar were it sits at 0% for ever.
My WMDC has disconnected at this stage and then I get a screen saying communication error which is obvious as WMDC has disconnected.
Is this a WMDC issue/ Vista or am I missing something
I then have to soft reset and it just re boots into my standard ROM.
Any advice woiuld be greatly appreciated
hello
1) connect your polaris to PC
2) run update utility
3) when you see 3 color screen unplug USB and replug it immediately
4) your SPL flash may start
5) when flash end correctely your polaris reboot
6) Flash any ROM you want
Thanks for the quick reply.
Tried doing exactly as you have stated.
Unplug and reconnect in the 3 colour bar screen, after which it goes into the updating screen and sits at 0% for ages until communication error comes up.
My WMDC has disconnected and does not reconnect.
I'm at my wits end!!
Do it from MicroSD, before format it in FAT 32, after rename the file .nbh in POLAIMG.nbh e copy in your microSD, put microSD in Polaris e put it in bootloader ( photo + softreset ) you will see something like IPL, bootloader, SPLASH1, SPLASH2, gsm & OS, press POWER button and wait, it might be long,
never put off microSD, when it finishes soft reset, in the same way you can flash any ROM, always format microSD before.

I think hard-spl can not be installed with sdcard method!
Why not ??? With Trinity you can do it.
cheers guy's for the feedback ,but not sure about the SD method unless someone can confirm it works for Orbit 2/ Cruise.
Somebody out there must have had the same issue as me regards this....what did you do to resolve.
Cheers

But this is not Trinity...Try it...
I know You can flash polaris if you use jumpspl (this is used by hard-spl flash) or hard-spl (this is used by os and radio flash).
But if you have original spl on you pda, and you want to flash with sd card, you will not use nor jumpspl neither hard-spl.

hi there.
try to hard spl with your sd card not in the device.
go in to bootloader mode (BL mode - by pressing down the Camera button, then using the stylus, press and hold the RESET button at the bottom of the phone and release when tricolor screen appears),
now connect the device to your pc (it should show usb in the white part)
flash what you may... hard spl first, oli's recomended by me.
ItayE,
Did you try the hard-spl flash with sd method? Does it work?
I didn't read it was Vista compliant so I ran it from a windows XP SP2 machine with Active Sync 4.5.
I did mine by taking out the SIM card and the SD Card then resettting and running the HardSPL.

Cheers for the advice guys I have managed to do it.
I used the Hard-SPL-V2 first which worked fine then I flashed to one of A.Serg roms, very nice and quick it is too.
However my reception bars are down to 2 from 4 that I previously had, although the reception seems ok.
Sim: O2 UK
Rom: 1.52.ASerg.4 WWE
The radio version I have is: 1.58.25.14
Now this is were I am confused.
Can I flash the radio Rom without affecting the o/s Rom, I have downloaded a couple of radio rom versions but not sure if you do it the same way as I am scared of over writing something.
Also could anybody advise if they are in UK on O2 which version gives best reception.
Any further advice much appreciated.

-Take any "RUU_signed.nbh" from an original ROM and copy it to your SD card.
- Rename to "leoimg.nbh"
- Reset your device while pressing the volume down button.
If you do do that^, make sure the radio is compatible.
You don't want to end up with a brick.
