T-Mobile USA Upgrade (DIRECT LINK TO FILE INSIDE) - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

This is the URL at which you'll eventually end up after going through the T-mobile mumbo-jumbo (including providing your T-mobile phone number which you probably don't have.)
http://www.t-mobileapps.com/downloadcenter/Software/RUU_CEv31440.exe
Just save the file to disk.
The radio rom is inside the device ROM and it installs it after you finish the upgrade.

I read your msg soon after I found a valid phone number
In the T-Mobile site, they say you need the T-Mobile SIM plugged in during the upgrade process.
Is it just to have the phone working or another stupid annoying lock?
Do I risk in upgrading my old rom having the phone unlocked without their sim?
Thanx

O2 Xda ROM Update and SIM Unlock

I see these ?'s have been asked hundreds of times before, however my proble is a little different.
I have an O2 Xda from the UK that was on the O2 network.
I have moved to Australia and wish to use the device on the Telstra network, but the Xda has been network locked. As my device has an old ROM version i think i need to upgrade first, before running xdaunlock.exe.
Can anyone offer advise?
Cheers
:? :?
You have two possibilities to unlock your phone.
If you got an serial cable to attach your XDA you can use the xda manipulator to unlock it.
In the other case i would suggest you go to www.yorch.net, cook your own rom with the 3.17.03 Rom and use the xdaunlock tool....
HTH
Stefan
just do this simple thing... downlaod xda developers v1.2 and put your xda into the sync cradel with no sim or sd card in then follow it though.......
once done hard reset it....
then it will unlock your device when it starts up
then you can decide to stay on pc2002 or go to pc2003 as your device will not need to be unlocked again
I had a look at the xda-developers v1.2, it would appear my service provider is not on the list (Telstra) will this rom still work or will i have to find a ROM written for the Telstra network?
Cheers :?
the ROM has nothing to do with the operator. It's the RSU version that might not work with your new network. Just get your device unlocked and let's see if it receives the signal or not, then you may have to do RSU upgrade.
Unlock via XDAUnlock?
I have a TMO XDA with ROM4.01.00 and RS6.24.01. I'm selling it and need to unlock it for the buyer.
Is XDAUnlock the path to go?
if i'm not wrong, XDAunlock works only with ROMs with wmodem application and I'm not aware of any wm2003 that has it.
TMO 4.01.00 is available as exe upgrade. just flash your XDA with ROM 3.17 which will unlock your device then reflash back using TMO 4.01.00
good luck
SIM Unlocking
Thanks. Question on the SIM card. All this "unlocking" occurs with the sim card inside? Just to check:
1) With my sim inside, install Yorch's ROM3.17, when asked, unlock phone, finish install.
- Now this means the PDA phone has no phone service, correct? but PDA works?
2) Now install ROM4.01.00, RS6.24.01 with phone unlocked.
3) Remove sim card.
4) Ship to new owner
5) New owner inserts their sim card. Now what? They call their carrier with IMEI #?
Thanks
No, when you put the 3.17 ROM, the phone part should continue working as long as you don't touch the RSU. The SIM has nothing to do with all this stuff. All the locking info is within the GSM firm ware of your device. I would prefer to remove the SIM while flashing the ROM.
If your locked device works now with your SIM, it will definitly work after unlocking BUT it is not a good prove that it's really unlocked. You have to test it with another SIM before shiping to the buyer.
PS: no matter your dial or IMEI is, GSM system deals with a unique identifier for the SIM which called MSISDN. So, don't worry about the buyer

I never realized you could operate the unit without a sim card inside. I guess I'll have to try it and learn along the way. It seems removing the sim card forces a hard reset.
If all the locking info is in the GSM firmware and Yorch 3.17 ROM upgrade doesn't touch the RSU, how does the XDAUnlock operate then?

During the unlock, the 3.17.03 set the phone to a model PW10A. My phone is a PW10B (USA). None of the .exe upgrade software will upgrade unit as they think it's the wrong band. I tried the Bootloader 5.15 - calendar and set the GSM to 900/1800 but model doesn't change in the identify screen. The sim has not been in the phone this whole time.
How do I change the model back to PW10B?
Fixed Wrong Band Problem
I put a ROM 4.0x.xx.nb1 file onto my SD card and using Wallaby Bootloader, flashed the unit's ROM. This appeared to have put the model back to PW10B1. Then I used the ROM4.01.00.exe to finalize the WM2003 upgrade. Phone is sim unlocked. Question:
when does phone become sim unlocked again? i.e. if I was to put my sim back in the phone, and connect to TMO, would that then lock the phone to TMO? Or once it's unlocked, it's unlocked for life? Just curious.
Typo
Should read, "when does phone get sim locked again", not sim unlocked.

Noob new Blackstone - Unlocking clarification

Guys
I've searched the forums and realise I can buy a SIM unlock code for my Blackstone, however I'm trying to clarify the following.
1. If I install a different ROM do I still need to buy the unlock?
2. If I changed the EMEI (I want the phone to match my in car fixed EMEI - I realise the blackstone has to be switched off when in the car else conflicts) does that mean the phone has to be unlocked again?
3. Once the phone has been unlocked if I change the ROM will it have to be unlocked again?
What prompted the question is reading the Wiki few areas actually simlock the phones....therefore my assumption is a different ROM means it could become unlocked.
Thanks in advance for the help.
Regards
Its an unlocked phone my friend so obviously you pay a higher price for the phone itself able to use with any sim card. Carriers phone that are branded with the carrier logo are usually cheaper with a plan that could cost more then the phone overtime and is locked to the phone carrier which requires a sim unlocking code to use with other sim cards/ other carriers.
The answer to that is you can install any rom on the phone and if it an unlocked htc touch hd which you paid a lot for then it will be unlocked forever
if its locked to a carrier im not sure about that maybe someone can clarify.
any ideas please guys, I get the phone in a couple of hours.
bump
Anyone?
Try to keep this short
1. If I install a different ROM do I still need to buy the unlock?
No Simlock is based on the radio and hardware (short version).
Once unlocked yoiu can up your rom and your radio, it stays unlocked.
2. If I changed the EMEI (I want the phone to match my in car fixed EMEI - I realise the blackstone has to be switched off when in the car else conflicts) does that mean the phone has to be unlocked again?
Got me lost on this one.
Simlock is based on radio and Hardware.
So your IMEI is part of the phone which is either Sim Locked or not.
If you put your sim into what ever is in phone is in your car your number will be the same.
Once you have sim unlocked a device it remains unlocked.
Like I said you lost me.
3. Once the phone has been unlocked if I change the ROM will it have to be unlocked again?
No - Once done it remains unlocked regardless of rom or radio upgrade.
(and if you buy a new Simlocked Blackstrone you cant use your old code as the lock is based on the hardware)
What prompted the question is reading the Wiki few areas actually simlock the phones....therefore my assumption is a different ROM means it could become unlocked.
--->point me to the page that you feel needs updated, i will have a go at it.

[Q] How to find official rom for HD2 bought from ebay?

Hi XDA
Long time lurker, first time poster.... so my digitizer has given up and it time for a trip back to HTC. Problem is that when I tried to remove HSPL back to SPL, the rollback failed and printed this error: 00028002 NOT ALLOW. I have a feeling that it was because I installed WWE 1.48 stock ROM instead of 1.43.
Since that error message, the start up screen is stuck with a triangle and an exclamation mark in the middle. Sooo I tried to install 1.43 via SD card through the bootloader, but it won't as it is supposedly the wrong ROM. It displays 'Upgrade ROM code error. Please try again'. Though the upside is that the bootloader indicates it is back to SPL.
Anyway, is there a way to find the correct stock ROM for my HD2 through the serial code of something?
On a related note: I bought it from Ebay a few months ago from a local seller here in Australia, the invoice notes Hong Kong as its origin.
Go to HTC's website, support section, select HD2, ROM Update.
Select a ROM (either HTC or telecom branded), then you will be required to enter your phone's serial number. If you get an invalid message, then you are trying to download a ROM that is not allowed for your phone - try another one. If the phone is SIM Locked to an operator then that is most likely the ROM you need to download.
I hate to tell you this but if its from Hong Kong the likelihood is that youve been sold a fake/clone.
It may look like a HD2 and it may even have WM6.5 but it also may not actually be a HD2 (ie have the real hardware).

[Q] Unable to find or connect to carrier after ROM install

OK, So I am not sure exactly what I did, but I was running DFT_Android ROM without any issues but wanted to try the NexusHD2-Gingerbread ROM. After flashing (successful) I wasn’t able to get on to my cellular network, wireless LAN, or even see the device through Windows (Aside from USB Mass Storage). So I decided to flash back to DFT_Android…
Well now I can search for network operators and I see mine (Bell) but I can’t connect to it. If I try to set up and APN it asks me to choose an operator, Vodafone or Vodafone Business.
What the heck is going on? Did the ROM write to my SIM?
Where do I go from here? How do I get back on my carriers network?
Here are the current software details:
HTC HD2 Telstra
Baseband: 15.42.50.09u_2.14.50.04
So I swapped out the sim card with another working sim from another account and it worked right away... So my question is... Is it possible the sim became carrier locked to another carrier? Is that possible?
If I put my original sim back in I get the same message...
Your original SIM is probably just bad. I would request a new one from Bell.

[Q] HTC HD2 can't send SMS or call a number

Hello,
I live in The Netherlands, and my mobile operator is Tele2. I installed Android 2.3.7 on my HTC HD2, with Radio Leo_RADIO_2.15.50.14.
But I can't send an SMS, or call a number, becasuse the network is not available. The network is also not available on Windows Mobile 6.5.
Which Radio ROM does work the best with Tele2 (The Netherlands). Or is there another solution for this problem?
Is HD2 network locked or have hardware issue ?
I would do clean install of generic WM6.5 from links in the HD2 Wiki .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_HD2#Official_ROMs_.26_Radios
If get it working on that then move to another platform.
I flashed some Radio ROMS, but they all don't solve the problem. I already flashed the stock Windows Mobile 6.5 OS, and also that doesn't work.
Borrow a sim from someone and see if it works
I tried it with my own Tele2 SIM card, and with a Vodafone SIM card, both don't work.
Did you recently buy the phone?
Or is it your old phone which worked and when you tried android it stopped working?
I recently purchased the phone from someone. He said it was working. When I got the phone, I flashed a new Radio ROM and Windows Phone 7, and did not check if my SIM card was working with Windows Mobile and the original Radio ROM. Now, I flashed Windows Mobile 6.5, but it is not working. Also Android doesn't work. I tried most of the Radio ROMS.
@Mister B will know more than I about this, but I think it is locked to a specific carrier, eg O2
Just to be sure, is it EU model (white call & end call buttons) or tmous model (green and red)?
The phone has white call & end call buttons, so it is the EU model. The previous owner did not know if it was locked to a specific carrier, because his SIM card just worked with the phone. How can I get to know if it is locked to a specific carrier?
I would have thought flashing hspl would have done it, and you have already done that to get wp7 on it previously.
Not sure
I flashed 2.08.HSPL on the phone with HSPL4, to get Windows Phone 7 and Android running.
I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28342560&highlight=carrier+locked#post28342560
in which Mister B mentions that the phone might be blocked due to an unpaid bill or stolen. Worth a read for you possibly.
Where did you get it from?
I don't think that's the case. I thought the problem was the Radio ROM, maybe I need to get a Radio ROM which works with Tele2 (Carrier)? If yes, I don't know which ROM.
I got the phone from a Dutch site where you can buy and sell things. And the previous owner used the phone with Vodafone.
Does the device actually know a sim is inserted or does it always show as no sim present ?
Showing as no sim present would be good indication of hardware problem.
If sim locked or blocked IMEI it will show sim present.
As such any of the main HD2 radios will be fine with your network & would allow full radio function if all else good.
I always fault find on original HD2 WM6.5 or a trusted WM6.5.x custom rom.
Dead sim reading is not that uncommon & can be mainboard issue or even the sim holder so worth looking at sim holder a little.
Most of the used HD2's sold online are faulty mainly due to amateur repairs so good chance that the case here.
There is a SIM inserted, because I need to enter a PIN code for the SIM. But I when I try to send an SMS, it says the network is not available. I get that message with Windows Mobile and with Android.
Does your sim work on another phone?
Yes, the SIM works on another phone.
I would say then it either network sim locked or IMEI blocked or radio hardware issue on mainboard.
Worth gong into phone settings & checking radio bands & try manual connection to varying networks.
Ideally want try all this on generic WM6.5 & reflash radio after rom flash (try radio n my signature)
You could also try an unlock by cable at local shop !
After that you stuck really ...
