help with LG G2 D802 - no recovery working, download mode only - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, for the record: I wanted to flash CM13 (including Gapps Pico) on my LG G2 (did before some Nexus 4 and 7, worked) ...
-- went through instructions on CM-Homepage
-- DIDN'T know what to do with loki-tools!? --> DIDN'T do it, might be the problem!?
-- went on with USB-Debugging, ioRoot (manually, since the ioroot.sh didn't work), AutoRec (since FreeGee doesn't work with 4.4.2), booted into recovery by tapping button in AutoRec
-- booted into recovery (was then twrp 2.7.0), wiped data (factory reset), pushed cm13 (NIGHTLY-d802) with adb, installed it --> everything worked fine
-- pushed opengapps-arm-6.0-pico with adb, installed it --> everything went fine
--> NOW: tapped "reboot into system" --> but won't boot anything!!!
-- when I start normally, it shows LG-screen 1-2 seconds, then black/dark-grey screen (phone is on! but black screen, not as black as if off!)
-- when I start into recovery (volume down + power) --> same thing
-- when I plugin USB-cable, then phone starts with LG-screen 1-2 seconds, then flashes this dark-grey screen every 1-2 seconds but doesn't connect normally ("watch lsusb" on linux-shell shows device everyonce in a while: "Qualcomm, Inc." and a certain ID)
-- after these 3 possibilities I can switch off phone only py pressing power around 10 seconds (if I hold only 7 seconds, when the screen turns black for off, it restarts)
-- I can boot into Download-Mode (Volume up + USB-cable), but don't know what to do with it ...
-- I found this thread for going back to stock firmware, but I don't have windows PC AND DON'T KNOW whether it is right thing to do!?
-- Found also the correct Firmware on this page (Model: LGD802 - -Latest Firmware: D80230F_00)
--> Are there any other possibilities to get back to a working phone!? Especially versions for linux!?
Thanks a lot in advance!!!

Thanks for that advice. Checked there but for Germany / D802 (without anything else) only kdz seem to be available!?
Is there any other possibility!? Flash-Tool stuck at 3% (checked the other thread with 2%-problem, but I can't go into recovery!!!)

Hey, got it solved. My conclusion:
- virtual machine on Ubuntu doesn't work -- can't communicate with device -- windows machine worked
- usb3 doesn't work, use usb2-ports
- how to get into recovery-mode wasn't clear for me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPUTImVEHqc (push Volume DOWN + Power -- when LG appears, leave them for 1-2 seconds -- then press them again)
- CM13 NIGHTLY doesn't work with LG D802 (also tried flashing blastagators build since AutoRec works (with KK) but is outdated)
- if using tot-method, one can extract the tot-files by executing the .exe
Now do have a CM12 on my LG and everything works fine...

Try this! works for me on cm13
Recovery:
1 Power off your device
2 Press and keep pressed Power and Vol- until LG logo appears
3 When the logo appears release all buttons and press Vol+ and Vol-
4 Choose Yes navigating through the menu using the volume and power buttons
Download mode:
1 Power off your device
2 Keep pressed Vol+ and insert the usb cable

[Q] Bricked lgp700 after flashing cm 11.0

Hello,
I am very new to rooting etc. I rooted my phone a few days ago, unlocked bootloader and tried to flash cm11.0 with rom manager (cwmg) following this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2521239
Unfortunately I didn´t understand the instructions well, so after wiping caches, instead of doing a full format I did a user data etc format (which i now think was a factory reset). Tried flashing, didn´t succeed.
Anyway, when I try to switch it on I only get the lg logo and then the batery charging thingy When I try to go to recovery mode with volume up power and menu button, my phone goes on a loop of lg and cyanomod logos untill infinity ( Have to take off the battery). Tried to use heimdall (as i have a mac) to flash kdz back to it, but phone was not recognized. On my pc tried the same, but again phone not seen. I can see it on my computer as an unrecognized external usb but cannot explore. Any ideas on what to do??
thanks in advance

As soon as you plug your USB into your phone, hold down the volume up (+) button and the power button and release them after holding them down for about 2 to 3 seconds. Then, install the USB driver for your phone with the LG Mobile Support Tool. Secondly, download and install the LG PC Suite program and last but not least, download the KDZ program. Install the correct firmware for your phone and make sure you select 'EMERGENCY' from the list on the top right of the KDZ program. Select your downloaded firmware file and start the program. If everything worked out, the program should crash after it's done and your phone should reboot. Disconnect your phone from the computer if it doesn't reboot and try to boot it up again.
You can find all of these programs along with tutorials on how they work by searching on either XDA or Google.
did forcing recovery/download work ?

the phone off usb in and buttons did it work ?
Actually didn´t work,I have drivers already, LG PC Suite program , and KDZ. Problem is my phone is not detected by pc, so kdz unzips and then says : phone not detected, with or without battery...doesn´t go into recovery mode with buttons, just lg and cyanomod logos...
I don`t know if this can b fixed.....How can you flash anything if it´s not detected....
I´ll give it a try again tomorrow, without trying to enter recovery mode....but tried lots of buttons combinations and wasn´t working
Press these buttons
volume +

home button

[Q] Completely lost my device? (After flashing some ROMs)

Hello fellow people...
So, my lovely Android (LG P700) is stuck in a bootloop. So, here's the story of my phone:
1) I bought it and eventually managed to root it.
2) The same day I installed CyanogenMod 10. Everything worked so fine.
3) Later I upgraded to KitKat prime (Based on CM11). Pretty darn fine, but it was laggy like hell.
4) So I decided to downgrade back to CM10. It worked, BUT THEN - it ignored my SIM card completely and when dialed *#06# I found that my IMEI got torn off my phone.
5) So I installed AOKP KitKat. Was REALLY good but it didn't have some crucial-to-me options, so I found somewhat tasty...
6) And I installed the Pac-Man ROM. And something went quite wrong, because it only booted every third time, else it gave black screen, but everything worked really fine. But later, I noticed that Wi-Fi won't turn on, so guess what...
7) AND WHAM! MY WORST MISTAKE! Wait for it... I decided to install the Phenom kernel (Idiot me, it was made for CM10...), TADAA!
8) After the LG icon it gave me 3 random stripes distorted and pink in color. And the recovery is nothing but black screen.
9) So I tried to flash rooted v20d kdz to it... Nope. Only stuck on stock boot animation and the three button combo won't work, no recovery, no black screen, no data wipe option.
10) I used the official KDZ updater... Same sh* as 9).
11) Tried flashing rooted v10k... NOPE, the flasher is throwing the error: WParam: 4, IPARAM:1002.
NOTICE - Yes, I did data/cache/dalvik/system wipes everytime when I upgraded my ROM/changed kernels. I also used GApps every time.
Anyone can help me?
Thanks in advance!

I had almost the same problem yesterday. My phone could go to emergency mode. If yours too then try this. Download the V20a ROM with root and CMW (it's really important to use this one): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2214717 (thanks Homero2 so much!),
- Installed the msxml file in the KDZ folder
- Run KDZ_FW_UPD.exe as administrator
- Set it to 3GQCT and DIAG, open the V20a kdz file and press "Launch software update"
- I still got a lparam error, but here's the great thing about this ROM. Even though I still got a bootloop, I MANAGED TO GET INTO RECOVERY! Instructions: Press the power button and the volume - button at the same time. When capacitive buttons turn up, press the menu button. When LG logo appears, release the power button. (REMEMBER: VOLUME "-" BUTTON AND MENU BUTTON NOT HOME....
- Recovery shows up.
- After that, I pushed a downloaded ROM (zip file) to my SD card and installed it via CMW succesfully!
Use CPA rom for p700/005 this time, it bugless and remember to factory data reset.
Hope it helps you!

Thanks a lot, but... recovery won't turn on, everytime I try to push vol-/menu/power button combo nothing happens and the phone tries to boot up as it would normally leaving it in an infinite bootscreen... Btw, my home button is broken and the vol- button is brokenish and I need a few tries to press it normally AND the captive button lights, well... they won't turn on anytime, just dark touch-able areas and that's all. I'll try to get to recovery though.
EDIT: BTW, you sure it's DIAG not EMERGENCY?

Haven't seen this before..

Hi guys,
I recently installed Simple ROM (Stock Android 5) for my G2 D802 however, I've found a need to downgrade back to 4.4.2. I went to flash a stock rooted 'H' version of the ROM which i've used before however during the flash, I got the error 'error executing updater binary' during the process.
After searching on google, it seems that I needed a newer version of TWRP (I had to change to a 'bumped' version to install the Simple ROM).
Having flashed 2.8.4 of TWRP, I rebooted the device however I now have the following issues:
- The device boots, shows the LG logo and the LED flashes
- The device never finishes it's boot
- I can not access recovery mode using the key combinations required
- The device doesn't seem to turn 'off'. When I press and hold the power button, the screen goes blank (though, still on) and then shows the LG logo again
I suspect, that because I cannot turn it off, I cannot boot to recovery.
Any thoughts on a quickfix?
EDIT: - It seems that I CAN turn the device off by holding vol UP, DOWN and POWER for a few seconds. I can get into download mode this way..

Make sure you're trying both combinations possible for recovery, PWR + VOL DWN > PWR + VOL DWN method as well as the PWR + VOL DWN > VOL DWN + VOL UP method. You may be on a different recovery then what you think (happened to me once). The fact you can enter download mode is great however, worst case you can always return to stock.

Not going so well.. Installed everything on my Windows machine but it doesn't seek to pick up the device in download mode.
If I select 'Read phone information' on the Flash tool, it stops responding and I end up needing to close it. Also, in the Flash tool, what should I select under 'select type' - it defaults to CDMA..
I can skip the 'read phone info' bug and just hit START which then loads the 'select country and language' view, then the LG Mobile Support which doesnt pick up the device.
help?

Have you installed the LG Drivers? Link
If you have, when your phone is connected open device manager on your PC and see if you can spot your android device, or anything that represents your device.
Everything you need to select is in that thread I Iinked you too.
You dont need to change anything within the tool, keep cdma selected and just make the language english, you can keep the country on korea it doesnt matter.

Yup AFAIK everything is installed. The device was picked up by the machine as it did ask me install more drivers.
The main issue seems to be sat with the LG mobile support tool. It continuously fails due to an error and nothing progresses on the device itself.
The only thing i've noticed is that the bottom of the device screen, shows 'B18' and 'Rooted'. The B# keeps increasing, though?

The B is just your current battery percentage. It will increase as it gathers charge from the USB connectivity, nothing to worry about.
As for why there's no communication between the software and your phone, I can't explain that but it's obviously looking like a driver problem. Try opening the LG Flash Tool log file found in C:\LGMobileUpgrade\log.txt.
Copy and paste the entire log onto pastebin and I'll have a look at it for you.

May I suggest putting your kdz file in the LG Flash Tool folder.
Also does the LG Flash Tool stay at 0% or does it increase before failing? May I also suggest trying this on other Operating Systems if at all possible.

Not that I'm aware of. Have you tried a hard reset?
Take your phone and turn it off.
Wait while your device is shutting down.
Then, press volume down button and power button together until the LG logo appears on the screen.
When the LG logo is displayed, let go of the power button, keep pressing the volume down key and then press once more the power button.
Once you do that, on your LG G2 the factory reset menu will be displayed.
Press power button in order to agree and wait while the hard reset is being completed.

That requires booting into the recovery though right? I can't get to that point. So yes, i've tried that but the LG logo just shows, and does not get to the reset or recovery screens.
The device just sits at the LG logo screen with the LED pulsing and changing colours.

No, you could just do it while the phones turned off.
Instructions to do a Master Reset with Hardware Keys can be found here.
The only other option I can give you is attempting the old manual kdz method found here, sorry .

[HELP]BootLoop and cant turn off

first of all - never, but never delete/wipe your internal storage...
second - and i've wrote this many times already:
to turn the device completely off
- your usb cable must be disconnected
- have the device charged for more than 50%
- press pwr button for more than 10 seconds
- at some point, LG logo will show - DO NOT LET THE PWR BUTTON OFF - KEEP IT PRESSED
- only then the device will be powered off completely with the black screen
THANK YOU!! you are awesome.. I misunderstood and i thought that i should wipe everything.. What do it do now?

now you find the thread on how to transfer a rom to a device directly from twrp or adb... or how to flash KDZ stock (then reroot and go from scratch)
i've never done it because i've never messed up anything on my device (my luck) - so i don't know in details - but there are threads on this subjects...
btw one more thing i've noticed in your 1st post - you had an .img rom file
you can't flash .img in twrp - you'll need the rom .zip file...
how do i access TWRP?
search on which button combination to press to enter twrp... (but before you try the key combinations - have the device powered off completely as described above)
on my device and 20h bootloader its
- press and hold pwr button + volume down
- lg logo shows (let the buttons go for a second or less)
- quickly press and hold pwr button + volume up
that works on my device...
you probably have older bootloader (20a) so you can try
- press and hold pwr button + volume down
- lg logo shows (let the buttons go for a second or less)
- quickly press and hold pwr button + volume down again
now - if you have TWRP installed - it will show you a white screen (factory reset) with yes/or no buttons - just answer YES to all and it will boot to TWRP (you answer with volume up/down keys for selection and pwr button to confirm)
if nothing of that works - try searching for other key combos... but afaik those are the only two that exist - depending on bootloader...

LG G2 Boot security error after trying to flash SuperSu after going to LineageOS 14.1

I've been using Cyanogenmod 13.1 (rooted) and I decided to flash a ROM with Nougat. I flashed lineage-14.1-20170320-nightly-d802-signed and open_gapps-arm-7.1-mini-20170325 and everything worked fine except I didn't have SuperSU. I tried flashing SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815 and when I tried to boot into system I got this screen (with the LG logo below) http://i.imgur.com/O7vOtab.png I tried many methods like this https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142 and this https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/general/lg-g2-unbrickable-fix-real-hard-brick-t2904404 to no avail. In Linux when I used the ls /dev/sd* command in the terminal the phone wouldn't show up and later in Windows I got the PC to recognize the phone as Marshall USB Composite Device 9006 http://i.imgur.com/a5WHV9P.png and in Disk Management the phone partition shows up un-initialised http://i.imgur.com/XaVKIu7.png . Help I don't know what to do now. Tell me if I should provide more information.
I had the exact same problem. Then i found a solution. Just dont flash the normal Supersu, you need to flash the Supersu BUMPED file. Just go in recovery, press 10 sec the power button to be sure the phone is off, then hold volume down and power button until the logo appears, then release and press again (fast) then choose yes, yes. Just flash the Bumped and if recovery asks to do root choose NO.
The Bumped which worked for me

I hope i could help

Yeah Bad same Problem, turned off and it went on, then again bootloop. But if you press the power button long enough then its completely off. In cyanogen mod i had Problem that i couldnt get into recovery with power button+volume down.
So you should flash kdz, get oneclickroot for LG g2, then autorec lollipop to get recovery. Then flash Rom + gapps + The bumped file.
If you dont know how to flash kdz, you can ask here. I will help
Good luck

Previously I couldn't go into download mode but I will try now since I managed to turn off the smartphone completely. Before it would just stay on with a black screen.

Yeah Ok. When I wanted to turn It off, I just pressed the power button until the screen went black and the logo came again but after 2-3 sec the screen went black again, then it was off (just hold power button for 10sec)
Try that when your phone keeps restarting

KDZ flashing gets stuck at 60% (Verifying phone connection) http://i.imgur.com/AAHKqcd.png
Should I just let it sit through its emotional problems?

Get the lg mobile support tool, install it. Then open and connect your phone via download mode, it will find the phone and download the kdz for it. That should work.
If it doesn't install automatically, click on additional options then click on set upgrade error back, or something like that.
Before all that install the driver from
http://www.lg.com/de/support/service-mobil-telefon/lg-G2
Then you can start with lg mobile support tool
