Today I saw this picture on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/SonyXperiaZpage)

Looks like that "Available soon" thing doesn't belong to that picture.

Sorry mysticmetal,
but I didn't know anaything about Photoshop. I only saw this picture this evening and want to share it with the community.
Nothing more, iam doesn't interested in faking information.
You are false in your mind, it's not Xperia Z Ultra, it's a xperia Z.
The attachment is the picture from ZU and it doesn't match

its Xperia Z Ultra and its right in my hand HERE.

It's a fan page. Not an official source.

We already knew that 4.3 would come to our XZ, isn't it? http://blogs.sonymobile.com/2013/07/25/on-android-jelly-bean-4-3/
Though no firmware certification yet, so it won't be within a week

To me it does not look fake at all. Plus the FB belongs to Sony Mobile.. if people would only take a moment to check everything out before make themselves look stupid in comments.
So wuhuuu official 4.3 will be here soon.. and by the looks of it with the enhanced UI found on the Z Ultra and Z1. The way to go Sony.

Maybe you should take a moment to check:
Official Sony Mobile page - https://www.facebook.com/sonymobile
Community Sony Mobile page (link in the OP) - https://www.facebook.com/SonyXperiaZpage
It's 100% fake. Infact, it's not fake, it's just stating what we already know.

I think we all know they'll be updating the Xperia Z. It might not be the star of the show any longer but it certainly certified for 4.3. Sony themselves said they would update the phone. 4.3 doesn't really bring many most have features so I am not particularity rushing for it. What I do want are some of those xperia Z1 app enhancements in my Z.
Sent from my C6602 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Yes, Everybody knows that 4.3 update is coming... He/She just shared the information of the update may come soon.,,
But the question is will it get Z1 UI and some of the camera features..

I would rather Urge sony to drop 4.3 and directly upgrade to 4.4, i have a feeling if they do upgrade it to 4.3, it might be the last official update for Z

We dont know what specification will 4.4 require, but the rumour says that its gonna be refreshed, super-light even for 500mb RAM smartphones. That, and the fact Xperia Z is not even a year old, still supported by qualcomm, makes me sure it definitely will be upgraded to 4.4. What is more Xperia Z was truely (not counting me) first SONY phone, which attracts clients. I mean first which does matter on market ( S and T didnt matter at all), there is too many people who bought this device, if SONY abandon such a great group its gonna be disaster for future flagships.

Am I the only person who really does not cate? By the time the networks release an OTA (let's face it, the vast majority of users can't use flashtool, not everyone is rooted and such) we will be into like 4.9.

Very true, and the fact that Z finally started the Sony quest to be recognized as a serious contender in the Flagship race. The reason i am not looking forward to 4.3 is mainly because it does not bring anything new to the table, so if it had to be one upgrade, it would rather be the latest. That said we always have XDA and Z is a pretty good device on a whole, so we should keep getting unofficial support for sometime.

To be honest Sony have made their name fairly well. But like you said 4.3 doesn't seem to bring anything new to the table in terms of usability. That said I've only seen rumours and such rather than hard facts from Google themselves. It will be interesting to see what comes of it.

Can we stop with all the speculation. Look what happened with the galaxy s3.
Wait for official word from Sony.
We had the same speculation about a dual core device last year and we ended up with the arc s.
Have you fellas not learnt anything.
Goodness.
I'll tell you now, besides the S and the Ion, we will not see any other flagship devices from Sony this year.
At the most, you might see a beefed up S but judging by sales figures, that's looking less likely by the day.
One flagship per year. That's the only strategy that makes any sense for all concerned. Consumers as well as for manufacturers.

I can confirm the device exists and is to be released in 2012.
Sent from my LT26i using XDA
Well I don't see how it won't be a real phone...
But I think it will indeed be like the Arc > Arc S situation, and it will be a sort of higher spec Xperia S.
The specs according to the rumors make it out to be that in my opinion...
I will buy Hayabusa if its specs will be similar to Xperia S and design like our xperia aRc with some changes..
from xperia PLAY
It would make perfect sense in my opinion.
Shame though (if those pics above are correct) that they may ditch the light bar. I was hoping they would hold on to it, because I truly love that feature . The S4 with that rumored arc form would appease the spec junkies and arc fans, and the S will appease the light bar monolith phone people, so everyone's happy .

ICS on launch date? Sweet!
That PDF is legit. Marketing divisions get them before launch, but this is pretty incredible how the whole press got leaked.
Anyways, Hayabusa will be slightly different in terms of design. It won't be full white like the GX. I personally like the GX more in terms of looks though.

[Official] No Jelly Bean for Xperia Play and Xperia 2011 Range .

John Cooper, UK Product Manager for Sony Mobile, has been taking questions from customers on Facebook and, perhaps inadvertently, revealed that both the Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S and Xperia mini pro will not receive the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update.
We have been waiting for Sony to make an official statement on their Jelly Bean upgrade plans and this is the first concrete news we have on the matter. The Xperia arc S was the highest specced 2011 Sony Xperia handset, so if this handset isn’t getting it we can conclude that none of the other Xperia handsets from the 2011 range will get the update either. However, the 2012 Xperia range do look likely to get the update, although timing remains an unknown right now.

That's not the problem! Why should people who don't even get paid for their work do the stuff of the manufacturers? All of these companies should be ashamed not supporting their product more than they do!

Not really surprising.
Vendors should be ashamed, JB's announced, out and about, some people are waiting for their official ICS update.
Likelihood is that their will be some semi stable JB ROM's for the Play before some devices get their ICS update.
Yea, this is no surprise at all. I thought this was about Cyanogenmod10 for Xperia 2011s, lol. Don't be scaring rooters like this!! xD

Leaving all about that the Xperia Play didn't even get ICS, the most impressive of all this is the fact that companies like Sony, HTC, Samsung, etc. make devices that cost about 400-600 € and only give ONE year of updates support. And nobody says anything.

Sony cant do that... The xperia 11 line NEEDS jelly bean. ICS runs awefull even on the arc s. Homescreen transition on arc s with stock 4.0.4 is not "laggy" but the framerate is very low, definetly below 20 fps. If i compare my xperia play on stock gingerbread with my friends stock ics arc s this is a major difference. And jelly bean would fix that, look at the nexus s it has less power than arc s and runs choppy with ics aswell but with jelly bean it is smooth, fps is high. ICS is kinda a beta for jelly bean. Every ics device must have jb. Never Sony again.

It's more to do with the poor quality of the ROM seeing as I'm running a custom ICS ROM on my unsupported Xperia Play pretty fine.

I agree that JB is what ICS should have been(judging by comparison videos). ICS WAS the beta to JB is right!! . Since the Xda community has figured out the Touchpad issue(not Sony) and added it to ICS, I am dying to see if the gaming would come back to us with JB. That would be a smack in the face of Sony and might actually influence people to not buy more Sony devices knowing they wont support.

Xperia Z Google Edition|Coming July|US Exclusive

Sony will announce a Google Edition of the Xperia Z, much like the Samsung S4 and HTC One. This is said by a Sony insider, and purported to be announced sometime in July. Apparently, even with the AOSP for Xperia Z, it's apparently too differcult/not for mass market, so they'll be distributing the Google Edition running 4.2.2 on the Play Store, EXCLUSIVELY FOR THE US. It'll have all the same features as the current Xperia Z with no hardware changes, and probably cost around $599 (the same as a launch day PS3).
Are you guys excited for a proper pure Android Xperia Z rather then the buggy AOSP? Personally, I'd prefer a Google Edition Xperia Play, with a 720p screen (games don't need to go that much higher on a sub-5inch screen) on a 4.7inch screen with updated internals, a Tegra 4 with an upgraded GPU and better battery. It could then be the standard bearer for Android gaming, and propel PlayStation Mobile and PS4 cross compatibility forward into public consciousness better, and raise the bar for mobile gaming as a whole (in my opinion, the NVidia Shield is more of a tech demo then anything).

Sorry but they won't the reason why their are Nexus versions of the S4 and One is because people are literally screaming for it, sure their are some sony fans screaming for it but the numbers are considerably lower.
Sony has a few guys who maintian AOSP, they will stick with that for some time, Also SOny has commited to the mutli-model strategy, our Yuga is no longer being actively cared for by Sony, they are preparing their next device and all we can rely on Sony for is 4.2 and 4.3 updates in the next year or so.
The Xperia Z is still very much still the flagship at least in the UK. Advertising everywhere, loads of TV spots. And the AOSP doesn't get the same Android release schedule as any of the Google Edition phones which share the same Android release cycle as the Nexus phones.

Assuming everything would be signed by Sony I assume the ftf for this would be flashable even on locked bootloaders?
So I got the Google Keyboard - it is far, FAR better then the stock Android keyboard. It is literally better in every way. It's smooth, with better prediction and better implementation of the Swype-like features. Before, if you typed a word on the stock Xperia Z keyboard, some of the suggested words couldn't be clicked on because they were covered by the grey things surrounding each word or where the next letter would go. I can only imagine how good a completely pure Android version would feel. Right now I'd consider getting CM10 or something and getting Bravia Engine 2 and the Walkman app on it.

Sony might even announce the Google Edition Xperia Z at E3. They might sneak it in somewhere as part of integrating their phones into the playstation ecosystem.

That's apart from all the features you would be missing of course. Easy choice for me
Might be useful for developers however, because that's where Nexus/Google Edition is meant for.
Pure Android
What makes Sony different from others? I would never buy a Sony with pure OS because it will lost its beautiful features, lost some functions. Compared to other phones, I still love the elegant design of Sony, if you all use pure android, then there will be no different among Sony, Htc, samsung...

How much of that horse power you guys are using in a day today activity?
Come on guys, you don't need raw CPU power alone, but you need more RAM and GPU (for games).
I would be grateful if new Xperia come with 4gigs of ram and 64bit Kitkat..

I actually love my xperia, I didnt swap it for Z1 despite the fact I could afford that. I thought it's not enough different from Z, without any doubts I wouldn't be able to feel any speed up on a daily basis. And honestly, after specifications of Z2 leak, I come the same conclusion- swapping is again not worth that. Ofc these are very early leaks, all can be updated and blow my mind, but for now, Z2 is not even a little different from Z1. Hope I am wrong or again I wont exchange my beloved Z

Yeah because a 2.2ghz quad core with adreno 330 is not fast enough for the phone to last 2 years >_>?

Personally, I would ask myself this question first... Would I buy because I need it? Our just to feed my impulse to acquire new things?

I'd prefer a big battery, a decent amount of built in memory (at least 32gb) and better wifi. A 5.2 inch screen might be cool if the form factor is the same.
Speed, I couldn't care less honestly. I don't use it for gaming.
If Sony releases this in 5.2" and with the same bezel size as the Z1? I'm gonna make an account in sony forum just So I could post... WTF SONY!!! Are you Sirius?!?

You took the words right out of my mouth! The Z1 and Sirius are not worthy of upgrades to the Z. Both phones are much larger and uglier than the Z. Worse in the Z1 as it's got same display size. They only offer better hardcore gaming performance and as I don't play much games besides chess on my phone, I have no interest in the snapdragon 800 or 805 for that matter. I look mostly for improvements in camera performance, design, and UI so from that point of view, I see absolutely no reason to move from Z. It'll be like flushing hard earned money down the toilet. Very disappointed in what is rumoured Sony has in store for MWC. Basically, just more variants of the Z1 nonsense. More phones that look like phablets. They can keep that crap thank you very much.

i "could" buy Z2 if this conditions were met:
5'' or 5,2'' FULL HD, IPS screen in the same frame size as Xperia Z, Z1 maximum
<8 mm thickness (i love thin phones)
Quality scratch resistant glass with NO plastic "anti-shatter film" on top - aka something similar to Gorilla Glass 3
3000+ Battery
Since i'm not realy holding my breath for all this to happen in a Sony Smartphone, i'm keeping my Z because every other "upgrade" like CPU/GPU/memory/higher camera MPx doesnt interest me in the slightest.
Unfortunately Sony will faster go towards the more Mpixel camera race or 2k resolution than to improve it's glass/ASF combination or battery or small sized/smaller bezels, i seriously dougt i'll upgrade my Xperia Z to another... Sony phone, unfortunately.
I agree to this. I'm looking forward to the Sony flagship in h2 2014.. Upgrading now from the z is pointless.. Save the cash and wait.. The six month flagship thing only brings minor upgrades

Xperia Z 4.4 Kitkat update

Sony Xperia Z should be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat by March - according to a Polish carrier
Sony’s Xperia Z received an official update to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean in December, and it appears that it will make the jump to KitKat pretty soon as well.
According to Play - one of Poland’s major mobile carriers - its Sony Xperia Z should be updated to Android 4.4.2 KitKat in late February, or March. If that turns out to be accurate, Xperia Z owners in other parts of the world should expect to get the new version of the OS at about the same time. The Xperia Z turned 1 year old last month, and a KitKat birthday present would be really nice.
Alongside the Xperia Z, other slightly older Sony Android devices that will likely be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat later this year are the Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, and the Xperia Tablet Z. Naturally, the newer Xperia Z1 and Z Ultra will also be updated, possibly starting the next few months.

holy sweet Jesus yes!!!
I hope it come sooner, but great news! Thanks.
SONY is doing it right!
thats definitely good news!
seems about right as well
they said Z1 will get it early Feb
Original source in Polish here for anyone that is interested.
If this is true, then the turn around between 4.3 and 4.4 is impressive. Sony are turning out to be the best experience of an OEM Android handset producer that I've personally had.
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
There's a good chance the 4.3 was late due to waiting for decent drivers from qualcomm, as 4.4 uses pretty much the same structure,
and QC have already released valid 4.4 drivers it shouldn't be too much work to bring up 4.4 on Sonys part.

Mind you, their GB was flawless...when they started playing with ICS, that is when they dropped the ball...hope it doesn't happen again with kitkat.

I hope there will be some "straight" root method for 4.4, now the downgrade&pre-root method is quite a pain...

I doubt it. The build number begins with 10.4, the same as the 4.3 builds for other Z variants.

But the letter has changed like from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2 then to 4.3 .
I'm a one year xperia Z owner.

I've gone through every single update for the Z, but it seems that my memory is a bit better than yours.
Look at this list, then see if you want to try again.

Uh,you're right then.
I messed up the numbers and letters.
The numbers changed and one time the letter 10.1(A)- 10.3(A) - 10.4(B )
Peace.

Are you saying that YOU'RE ready for 4.4, or that Sony have it ready for ALL our XZ's?
if u see here .. http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/02/1...1-4ghz-quad-core-720p-display-running-kitkat/
the build on this leaked system info on D5103 shows 18.1.A.0.11 for kikkat 4.4.1

Different models have different build numbers for the same version of Android. Check out some of the build numbers for different devices such as the Z1 on PTCRB.
It's highly unlikely that 4.4 for the Z will have that build number.

Yes. XZ will have 10.5.X.X.X rather than anything else. Proof...my experience with Sony for so long.
