This is a how to on getting XBMC to play over Chromecast through Allcast Player. You will be able to cast XBMC from your phone to your TV.
Step 1. Download XMBC XAF version with External Player and Install it. It will not work without this special version.
XAF Link - http://www.xbmcandroid.com/2013/05/...-xaf-custom-build-of-xbmc-for-android-is-out/
Download and InstallXMBC XAF Custom Build for NEON Touch Screen Devices
It downloaded with an extension of .bin It wouldn't install so I changed the extension from .bin to .apk and then it installed with no problems.
You need to run xbmc once to set up the proper folders.
Step 2. Download and Install File Manager from the Google Playstore
Step 3. Download playercorefactory.xml at https://www.dropbox.com/s/1ltd48heh3wrx45/playercorefactory.xml
In your sdcard, place playercorefactory.xml in the userdata folder using the following path.
/android/data/org.xbmc.xbmc/files/.xbmc/userdata/
Step 4. Download Allcast Premium App from the Google Playstore for $4.99
Step 5. Demonstration
Start Chromecast
Start XBMC - Start your show- Click the Cast Button and it automatically finds the Allcast Player and casts to the Big Screen.

allcast crashes occasionally.
Anyone have any suggestions
I got it working on both my nexus 5 (stock) and nexus 7 (cm11) using Avia rather than all cast!
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
I plan on picking up a Chromecast tonight to try this. Just curious - what's the benefit of installing the XAF version vs the official version? I noticed the XAF version was last updated in May 2013 whereas I can get a nightly build of the official released a few days ago.

I don't know. But, with Avia, I am using the nightly.

I've been using a fire tv stick remote with my NP since pretty well day one. It has a few more buttons that I find makes life much easier. Since the November update using the on screen keyboard doesn't work. It looks like the NP/GBoard is registering the enter button as a right arrow. The remote still works perfectly everywhere else. I've tried the basics, reboot, unplug, clear cache, deleting GBoard updates, and repairing the remote. None of that has worked. I've been using the remote from the play store which works, but I'd rather not have to do that. Also, I can't find the original remote anymore, of course. I can find the remote for a DVD player I bought 17 years ago, but I can't find the remote for the nexus player. Any idea how to fix this?
I use the Fire TV remote as well because it doesn't have the same disconnect problems as the original remote. And I had the same issue with Oreo.
To fix it, I extracted the Leanback keyboard from the Nougat ROM and installed that. Then I went into Settings > Applications and disabled Gboard. The keyboard now works with the Fire TV remote within apps like the Play Store, but it still doesn't work in the search box in the launcher. But I don't really use search from the launcher since it can't even search Netflix, and I don't like the new launcher anyway. I figure I'll give it a little bit of time to see if they fix the issue (doubtful since apparently the Nexus Player won't be getting any more updates), and then I'll flash the old launcher too.
The Nougat keyboard (LeanbackIme.apk) is here. Since the Oreo update evidently removed it, it isn't replacing anything and so it can be installed just like any other APK:

The Nougat launcher (LeanbackLauncher.apk) is here. Since it replaces the Oreo launcher, it will probably need to be installed via root or custom recovery:

Thanks dude,
The remote actually works fine for everything other than the search. The main reason I'd like that to work is for use with TerrariumTV. I'll give the leanback keyboard and see if it helps, but I have my doubts. I don't have my NP rooted so I wont be able to try the launcher.
the problem is that any code for touchscreen is not recognized.... i use a usb remote with a physical keyboard in the back and a fly mouse option. with that i can cover any kind of keyboard requirement by the app..... then use the other remote to watch tv .....
I install leankey keyboard from Play store then go to settings and change keyboard to leankey. Haven't found anything it doesn't work on.

I guess it depends what search you're trying to get working. If you're talking about the search within a particular app, installing the Nougat keyboard should be enough, since the Nougat keyboard works fine with the Fire TV stick remote.
If you're talking about the search box at the top of the launcher, however, that's different. I suspected flashing the Nougat launcher would fix that, but I just tried it and it didn't work. So maybe it's a different app altogether. But I don't really use that search feature myself and I mostly just wanted the old launcher back, so I'm happy. For what it's worth, you don't need root to flash the Nougat launcher, just an unlocked bootloader.
In case anyone cares, here are the steps to flash the Nougat launcher without root
Prerequisite: your Nexus Player bootloader must be unlocked
Download the Nougat launcher from here: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=889964283620774815
Download the latest TWRP for the Nexus Player from here: https://dl.twrp.me/fugu/
Reboot your Nexus Player to the bootloader
Code:
sudo adb reboot bootloader
Boot TWRP
Code:
sudo fastboot boot twrp-3.2.1-0-fugu.img
Once you're in TWRP, flash the Nougat launcher and reboot
Code:
mount /system
adb push LeanbackLauncher.apk /system/priv-app/LeanbackLauncher/LeanbackLauncher.apk
reboot
If you want to undo it, just reinstall the Oreo launcher by following the same steps with this file: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=889964283620774817
Hello,
I tried to search extensively on this both on XDA and from Google but did not find up-to-date, or reasonably so, information for installing Google Play Store on the Fire TV 3 (2017). There are some apps only on play Store that hopefully work on Fire Stick 3, but are not available on Aptoide TV version.
There is a guide for Firestick and for Fire TV 2, but I have tried to follow those without success. I am not an expert but would appreciate "expert" advice on how, or if it's possible, to get Play running. My understanding is the following are needed:
Google Services Framework
Google Play Services
Google Account Manager
Google Play Store
However, it is not clear which version needs to be installed. Can I just install the latest version of these apks? For example, from APKMIRROR?
From what I understand, the Fire TV 3 uses Android 7.1.2 as a base, but with everything except "Google Services Framework", it is not clear if there is a 7.1.2 version. In fact, Google Play Services seems to have an Android TV version. Do I use that?
Sorry if this is all too noob but I have not been able to find clear information anywhere.
EDIT: I see this should go in the Q&A Section for Fire TV but the thread tools do not let me move it or delete it.
I have tried the same with no success.. installing apks with adbLink, first two intall ok, but the framework and the account manager fail all the time.. have tried several versions from APKmirror
Hi,
I got an android TV box from the UAE from my aunt. is there a way we can use this in my country and make it like a normal android tv box? found tutorial in YT but no luck.
Model is DWI259S; Android version 9; and all apps and settings are just locked with Etisalat.
Android Led tv not unlock elif tv
Install Atv launcher app via, sd card or Usb
Install ATV launcher app via usb or sd card
How are you my friend? I have the same problem as you. Did you manage to solve the problem elife etisalat uae DWI259s or not yet?
you can connect to it via adb, and list all system apps installed, maybe one of these apps is the one that's locking the device. not a popular device, hard to say..
fyi, using adb you can install a different launcher and might even be able to uninstall the stock launcher, that might help in giving you more control perhaps
