It looks like Amazon is starting to see the light...

Is it possible to get the WatchESPN APK from FireTV and have it work on ShieldTV?
If so, where and how?
It should work... Try installing / sideloading the Amazon Appstore APK and download & install the WatchESPN app from there... (I would tell you to use APK Downloader, but it can't seem to create a link for that particular app for some reason)
I was curious about this as well. I installed Amazon AppStore, and not all apps show up. For example, sonic 4 episode 1 and 2 both don't show up on shield TV. Also, it seems there are quite a few WATCH apps which i can't find such as watch ESPN, watch Disney. I'm wondering if there is an amazon fire TV amazon AppStore. My mom wants a streaming device, so maybe I'll pick up the fire tv stick today and see if i can pull the apks.
Yeah, I installed the Amazon App store but it barely works (needs mouse) and it's crippled, doesn't show many apps. Would be nice if APK downloader could grab it, but that only seems to work for Google Play Apps. Got to be a way...
I've tried it on the Nexus Player without any luck. It has some Amazon drm checks to make sure it is actually a fire TV/stick device. The farthest I've managed was to install it and get it to load. Once installed, all videos failed to play.

OK, so I got the same thing all of you did with the Amazon Appstore app/k... But I was able to get the WatchESPN app to work using the APK I downloaded from here: http://www.apk4fun.com/share/6916/
Of course, you will need need a mouse or keyboard w/ trackpad (which I use since other apps like Dish Anywhere also require the same thing), but at least I was able to play Live streams and clips after I provided my satellite provider's info...
Yeah the "normal" phone/tablet version works. You can also download the newest apk from the play store. However, if you want a version that works with only the remote, only version available is the Fire TV version; this version does not work with any Android TV devices because of the DRM.

You don't need the amazon app store for watch espn just sideload the apk it works on the Shield tv with a mouse it's the watch espn phone app. You can't get the fire tv android tv off the fire tv it want work on the Shield tv that app was made for the fire tv platform.

I suppose you could also install Kodi and use a plugin for that.
Any update?
Looks like this thread is now closed..... Watch ESPN is now official an Shield TV!
I want to know whether Fire HD 8 will work out of USA or not. I have no idea about Fire OS and Amazon appstore. I just want to use it as a device to surf the internet via browser, to copy my movies from laptop and watch on it, and use apps like facebook, facebook messenger and youtube.
I am afraid if i tell someone from USA to bring it for me here in Nepal and if i wont be able to download these apps, it will be a waste. So kindly suggest me, if i can download apps like facebook, youtube and messenger for free outside USA?
Yes it does
I bought it in the USA and use it in Mexico. Best tablet for the price. I can get apps from the amazon appstore, they have a whole section of "actually free" apps. If you cant find an app in the amazon appstore, Google Chrome Browser for example, you can install the Google play store even without root. Fire OS is actually Android with a customized layer in top. The only things that don't work are the amazon services, like prime video, and prime music. Kindle unlimited book reading (paid subscription) does work.
Hello to the forum members, looking for a bit of help...
I have successfully installed the appropriate versions of google services and play store in order to get the Google Play Movies and TV app to be installed on the Fire HD8 tablet.
The issue: when I attempt to download items from my library for offline viewing, I get a google error statinging device not compatible for downloads. Has anyone found a workaround to this issue? My kids really like to have the videos for car rides, and I prefer to keep using the google store as opposed to the amazon store (for other devices).
Many thanks in advance.
Hi, is there anyone else uses the new Fire HD10 2019, deboated and with Google Apps installed?
I couldn't stream HD Videos from Amazon Play to my chromecast. Which works fine from my other (Samsung) tablets.
So i decide to install amazon video app from Google Play, but that doesn't work for me.
Does someone remove (i guess it's a system app on the HD10) and reinstall that app from google play?

Amazon Prime Video was installed on a system app that you cannot delete this unless device isn't rooted.
Following.
There has got to be someone that has de-bloated and still has amazon prime video and kindle books working.
