I want to be able to select my video and music from the today screen . Is there a way I can put a short cut there ?
At the moment I have to select start,pictures & videos,my docs, videos and scroll to the file I want to play.
Maybe I need to install a jukebox or something huh?
You need either a launcher (like iLauncher) today plug-in or something like WisBar Advanced 2 & WA Desktop.
equally you can use PHMTrayLaunch to do this...

How do I install this ?
presumably I unzip it first on the PC and then transfer all the files to a folder (which one) on the wizard and run the exe file from there ??

pretty straight forward really.....download----unzip----place application somewhere on you device----launch it----place a checkmark in "Enable TrayLaunch".
Once you have that done click on Add and make shortcuts to whatever you want....i.e. a shortcut to PIE might be like this \Windows\InternetExplorer.lnk or a shortcut to the Midlet Java Manager would be something like \Windows\jmm.exe
Personally I have the PHMTrayLaunch stored in the \Windows directory then I created a shortcut to it in PHMTrayLaunch so I can call it easily...

- Uninstall - we'll need to get the uninstall sorted out soon. All Pointui apps have a command line switch -uninstall that will prompt it to remove itself, registry settings etc, so you can use Update Manager to uninstall Home (through it's interface), and then get rid of Update Manager with command line. That will still leave the left soft key reverting to Phone, but pretty much everything else should be gone.

Anyone had success removing this after install I have tried uninstalling via phone/ computer and it removes it from the list but does not remove the program. I would love not to have to hard reset.

Jesus it puts the lotion on its skin. Where being held captive by a piece of software gotta love that. Talk about nazi'ism feels like AOL for mobile devices go ahead install if you dare will require a format if u want to get rid of us though.
Easy to remove if you do it the right way. You would have found this if you would have looked on the forums for the program.
To Remove .Home
Drop back to the default Windows Mobile Today Screen
Start > Programs > .Update Manager
Pointui Products > Home > 1.0 Free > Uninstall
Perform a Soft Reboot after the uninstall and Home will be removed.
To finish the uninstall, use Remove Programs to uninstall the update manager, you can delete the installation folder if you so desire and the icon form the start menu.
To bad this procedure does not work on the 6800 there is no uninstall option in the update manager.

Can someone make a program that you don't have to go in the registry and make it easier to change on the fly.

It is there on my 6800.
Yup a IQ of a zit because the uninstall instructions do not work for me or hundreds of others and we want this off of our device so we ask for help. Real good insult there dont quit your dayjob (if u even have one) anyways I am done with you thanks for being a complete and utter waste of space.

HMMMMMMM maybe it was the version I downloaded then I even tried downloading a new version today reinstalling and uninstalling no dice still for the uninstall method posted (other then manual delete). Oh well.

I know all this, and it is in everyones interest to make iTask work smoothly in every way, before making a good settingsprogram. If not, the settingsprogram would need changes every time I modified something in iTask, and that would slow down the whole development progress.
This is a development-in- progress app. This means you can use the beta, before the final release, and I get some feedback on bugs. Thankfully some in the community has taken a keen interest in sharing feedback, and therefor iTask Betas are still coming pretty often.
I know it's hard for some people to edit the input.txt and I hope someone with programming knowledge will be up for the task of creating a settingsprogram for iTask when I come to 1.0. I do not know much programming, only Flash.

Its a very nice looking interfece, but i agree that it needs a larger frame rate, so the animation is smoother. Starts instantly though. Ive got a problem in that it launches calculator no matter what icon i press. And, before it launches calculator, it says please post a screenshot of the application you use here or something similar.

Very nice for a first release. Well done !
1) Still didn't check all options, but as tomazez stated, a better frame rate would be great. It's not as smooth as Pointui or other UI replacements.
2) I don't know what's the need for the page that opens after clicking on a program's button (the one we should replace with a jpg pic) I'd prefer getting immediately to the program/settings page.

This is where your modification comes into play.
The image that comes before you launch calculator is to be replaced by you, with a screenshot of your program. If people will begin to share screenshots and icons, this will be a lot easier for all of us
Most links are defaulted to calculator, but in the input.txt file you can change the links to whatever you want.

Beautifully done! With some work, this could blow FreeStylWM and PointUI Home out of the water! Provided that we all get the video driver needed by all HTC products using the MSM7200 chipset, do you think that this will improve on the speed with some DirectX code thrown in? I'm no Windows Mobile developer (yet) but I'd love to help with this wonderful project (even if it's MortScript modifications or beta testing!)

SPB stuff is never as customizable as I want it to be. That's the problem with their products, IMHO. If it weren't for that, I would definitely be using Mobile Shell right now, but I want an application launcher of my own choosing, not their stupid one that is mostly about built in WM applications. If someone is able to hack Mobile Shell to customize it fully, I would be very gracious.

It actually allows you to map any programs that you want - you should try it.
The 'programs' is automatically based on recently used programs, or programs that you can pin in place. There is also a user menu where you can add/delete components as you want..

Yeah, I hate that. Makes no sense either, since you can customize icons in Pocket Plus.
Well, who knows how to change the "internet" to go to picsel browser instead of IE, and maybe remover organizer with something else from the second page?
I believe all the graphics and layouts are in the .dat files in the SPB Mobile directory. However these .dat files are password protected zip files.
Anyone know if I can remove the calender on the now screen and make my app/task list longer?

Just go to SPB Mobile Shell Setting -> Now tab -> Options (or something alike, I have russian version) and set calendar to No.

If even simpler: open file in PhotoShop, make a copy on a copy! -- draw with layers and so forth - with copies in the copy buffer - impose on the original - link sectors - remain with "SAVE" - SHELL and PLUS - very sensitive palette to change - if the file is simply to preserve the "SAVE AS ...." and the changing palette of color and depth.

2. make new ones and name them the same way (using Photoshop)
3. Stop the processes associated with SPB all of them and more. basicaly put it into "safemode for a ppc" kill all but the essential processes.
4. replace the old files with the new ones and reboot.
Note: the new files have to be identical in format (ex: PNG 24bit 96pxlX96pxl) not that it is the actual format.

Try this.... Goto MS2.0 settings, Now screen tab (first one) click on configure, click on calender drop down tab, change setting to: None, One Week, Two Weeks, Three Weeks. Default is on auto.
I cant confirm this will work for you as I haven't tried it. (I just know the setting is there. Let us know if it works for you....

That would be pretty cool if you ask me. But I actually like the MS2.0. I have played and configed my ppc many many many many times now and I think I am at the point where I just want to use it.
Anyway, I do think it would be cool if people posted there own personal themes for MS2.0.

As long as already we know how to replace a watch face I thought it is the right moment to have a spot where we can share our creations, photo processed compilations or what we think it worth to become a watch face
For the very beginning a brief tutorial about the watch face replacing itself
1. do a copy of the firmware you want to change (for instance rename the new containing folder <DZ09 mod1>)
2. create a folder (lets call it <new watch faces>) and put inside all watch face gifs you have
3. obviously, start the program (attached hereunder)
4. press open (left down buton) browse to <DZ09 mod1> , as extension select all files and select ROM (or FILE_01_mtk) - <open>
5. press upper right side <workdir> and go to your <new watch faces> folder and press ok
6. press <Pictures> upper left and in the main list from left pick which picture you want to change and click on it
7. in the right side choose the picture you want to insert and click on it
8. press upper right side button <import> if shows successful go to step 9 if not the picture you chose is to big
9. press save - it opens browser in the <DZ09 mod1>, check ROM (or FILE_01_mtk) and accept to overwrite the file
10. flash <DZ09 mod1> on your phone and enjoy!
Now about requirements for a picture in order to become a watch face:
1. Static GIF format
2. Resolution of 240 x 240 at 218dpi (our watches have 28mmx28mm so do the math)
3. Our watches have different available space for applying a new face so please share a picture at different sizes though the quality differs
Use your money wisely, DO NOT WASTE IT buying from GEARBEST!
- worst shipping ever (10 days in case you're lucky)
- most products are defective (this is referring just to smartwatches and watch phones - can't say anything about other products)

I am trying to edit the ROM for one of those U8 clones based on mtk6260/6261, but when i load the rom in MTK_Res nothing shows under strings/music or pictures
Just to make sure that i've got the correct rom, i've then used the fw_splitter and flashed the firmware to my watch and it works, so the ROM file was a good firmware dump
Help, please?

Salut! despite the fact that they are using same type processor, U8 and clones are built on a different PCB hence type of OS, your firmware keeps the watch backgrounds in VIVA file which is an archive. . . I'm sorry about bad news

Indeed, i have the "expanded" version of the ROM, with the VIVA file and all the rest, and not even those can be edited with MTK_Res.
I still hope that someone will find a way to edit the firmware for this little device, as the version i have, an E-Boda Smart Time 100, is the cheapest of it's kind in Romania, at only 99 RON, about 22 Euros, so the market is quite large and it could use some better graphics for the menu and the watch faces
Btw, the rebrander/distributor included in the product page for this gadget a downloadable file that contains SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1428.00, the drivers and a newer version of the firmware, with some extra files that i don't know how to use
One of them, ZIMAGE_ER.bin, can be opened in MTK_Res and actually contains the watch faces and some backgrounds, but there is no way to flash it on the device

Tried to upload some stuff earlier, but the connection in the office is very bad, so here are some links with some extra spaces as i am not allowed to post URLs yet:

Man, you sure the splitted rom is ready to be flashed? Your Rom dump has be splitted in more than couple of files, I've made a working app (check readback extractor) but unfortunately is not matching your watch type, let me analyze what I've got from the provider's site and we'll see, at the first sight pictures are visible in the zimage file so it looks solvable

Yup, i've used fw_splitter to do the splitting and i've also flashed the results to the watch and it worked fine.
The thing with the archive from E-Boda is that in includes a load of files that seem to have nothing to do with the watch, but the zimage file contains indeed the exact backgrounds and watch faces from the thing
Tried also your splitter - readback extractor, but indeed, it does not work with this type of rom

Just apparently those files have no link with the firmware, zimage along with dynamic_comp and alice are zipped into viva file through the firmware sdk guys from e-boda have, hence, we can change zimage but is not for any use as long as we cannot repack it back into a viva archive. . . btw, I saw on several chinese sites dz09 phones like even at $15, by my experience to get them in romania doesn't take more than 3 weeks, so some patience pays, lower prices bit better outcome
