Question Audio quality while video calls - Nothing Phone 1

Hello,
I'm experiencing a very bad audio quality in video calls and hands free calls. I don't know if its a hardware issue or the noise cancelling but I've tried my OnePlus 6 whit the same network quality and the audio quality has been incredibly better.
This is something that happens from the first day and I was expecting an improvement via software updates but I'm afraid of having a damaged unit or worse a phone that delivers this bad experience (only with the audio while calls).
Is this the same experience for you?
Thanks in advance for your replies.

Bluetooth stereo quality

I was playing with my friends Atom the other night (and I have one on order myself) and I wanted to see how the bluetooth worked. So, I used a bluetooth adapter on a computer to become a stereo receiver for the Atom. While I had no problems getting the device working, the quality seemed outragiously bad. I was playing an MP3 in Windows Media Player, and the sound played over bluetooth sounded as if it had a high pitched squeel over it the whole time. With this kind of quality, I question being able to use a set of bluetooth headphones with the Atom. The quality was not a problem in the MP3, and it sounded find out of the Atoms speakers. Was I having some other problem, or is bluetooth stereo sound just this bad?
On mine it sounds better on BT stereo than thru' speakers  Maybe your pc corrupted the soundz
Well, I suppose "better" could be rather subjective. But when using the PC as a stereo speaker it sounded bad. I imagine with that kind of sound on headphones, my head would explode out of sheer pain. I'm certainly willing to accept that my PC bluetooth software could be causing problems, but I'd like to hear what others think before purchasing a set of bluetooth headphones. I would be describe what I heard as if it had been overcompressed sound with horrible high pitched artifacts. Would you say that the actual sound being sent to your headphones was phonically the same, ignoring the quality of speaker vs headphones?
Remember "Garbage in Garbage out"
The same MP3 played on the computer it's being transfered to via bluetooth (and therefore the same speakers) sounds perfect. What I'm wondering is if bluetooth stereo quality is as bad as I've just experianced, or if it was something outside the normal "headphone" system that was causing this (such as poor receiving software).
Fortunately tonight while browsing the forums I came across the following,

This completely cleared up my sound quality issues. Sounds like what I'd expect now. Hope this helps someone else.
Tell me. Which settings did you apply? All or some of them. There are so many inputs you cannot even know ehich is which
I changed only Bitrate:
Bitrate 53 increased the frequency of breaks to almost one every 5 seconds. My original was the default 30 which was just fine at less than once every 2-3 minutes.
Am currently testing 35. Hissing is gone, but the ocassional cut is still there @ once every 2 minutes.

video recording inaudible

Hi,
I've heard that the recording sound is horrible, but can it be this bad? I've had my TF for over a month now, few days ago I tried recording a video clip using the built-in camera, and the playing sound was barely audible! Even if I shouted into the mic. I could only manage to hear a very faint voice. Other than that the sound from games/movies/music is fine though. Did I get a bad unit?

Sound gets distorted when recording through earphone mic

I have been using zenfone max pro m1(ZB601KL) for 2 months. When I try to record some audio or music in my device through earphone , the sound output is very distorted and sound seems to have very much treble and no bass. The quality is too low as we feel like recording in old mobile phones. I have tried boat 225 and apple wired earphones. The same output . I have used both these earphones in my zenfone 5(2014 released) and it works perfect. Issue is causing problems while making both general and internet calls. I cannot find any such issue reported about this phone on the internet since now. My inbuilt phone mic is working fine. Anyone who knows about this issue please help me. Thanks for any help....
Same problem here
Other party cannot hear me properly, I have to shout to let them hear a litle bit. I haven't found a single answer regarding this issue anywhere

Mi9T Has terrible audio quality & mic !

It like all the audio inputs/outputs on this phone are just terrible, The mic is really low quality and the playback from it is really low almost inaudible at normal volume. The speaker also sounds really distorted and bad even the headphone jack is low quality though turning on Hi-Fi audio from the settings seemed to slightly improve it.
I'll soon try a USB-C headphone and report the results.
I would have to disagree. I've been using this phone for about a month or so. It's not better or worse than the Note 8 that it replaced.
It's working fine to me, even ear speaker it's loud to me.
I have the same problem, even with the maximum volume on call, you can't hear well
I have to disagree with this one. I have nothing but good experience with its audio.
Everything is good on my side. Maybe you bought a defective unit.

Hello,
Any news on this? I got a Mi 9 Lite and it sounds so broken. I only got the Speaker problem but I kinda fixed it with a 3rd party equalizer. I thought that maybe with a factory reset it gets fixed but it's a hassle.
Did you do a factory reset? What's your story?

USB C headphone would be irrelevant in your case since the processing would be done by external DAC and not the phone's DAC.
Yes you are right. I mean, I fixed it with an app called equalizer FX but it's annoying that I have to have another app running in the background all the time for something that obvious. I messaged the MI team inside the settings and hopefully one day they will reach to me.
Disagree. The Audio Quality is very decent, especially through 3.5 mm jack when Hi-Fi Audio mode enabled. Yeah when not enabled, it sounds a bit thin and lack of driving power, but when enabled the audio sounds more amplified and layering improved.

Microphone quality

Hello!
I've seen many samples of videos recorded on this phone, and the audio quality is bad.
I wanna know if this is a video recording problem, software wise, or something related to the microphone quality itself. Audio recording only works all right or is it also bad?
Thanks
