LG G6 870 strange behaviour... - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Hello all, I'd like to ask if anyone else experienced this...
Phone works fine, except that if tne proximity sensor detects proximity for an amount of time of 5-10 mins at least, (for example in pocket or left on the table face down), a 1.5 cm wide vertical band appears on screen, with lighter color than normal, just under the proximity sensor, from upper to bottom edge of screen. If the phone is then left without sensing proximity (face up, outside of pocket), it goes back to normal within half an hour... It is perfectly usable, but strange and a bit annoying.
Any ideas?

minor annoyance with motion sensor

I only have to tilt my phone about 10 to 15 degrees to the left to cause the screen to flip to landscape, I have to tilt the phone 40 degrees to the right to do the same which is sort of what I expect. a slight twist of the wrist to the left while using the phone portrait is all it takes and simple things like laying it on my desk in front of me cause it to flip to landscape if I'm not careful. each day I get more annoyed with this behavior, anyone else having motion sensor issues?
neil
On many devices the sensor is not calibrated properly out of the box. You can easily do this yourself, but you need to root your phone.

Screen lock does not lock during a call

Hey!
You know how the g2 locks the screen when u are in the middle of a call, so u wouldn't accidentally push a button with your cheeck/ear? Well sometimes (and quite often too) it stops locking, probably thinking that I moved the phone away from my face.. and the it relocks it the next second.. well most of the times it unlocks, I push the mute button or I hang up alltogether.... its getting rlly frustrating, and I was wondering if anyone is having the same problem..

Are you outside or in bright light when this is happening?
The proximity sensor (the thing that controls this function) is in the upper left hand corner of the phone, above the display area. Basically if light hits it, on comes the screen. No light, no screen. Put your phone on a desk/table and make a call to voice mail or something, and then move your finger over the proximity sensor. Then move it away... You should be able to make the screen go on & off by passing your finger over the sensor. If this does not work, then perhaps your sensor is bad.
Some have had problems when making calls outside, because the light gets in between their face and the phone, hits the sensor, activating the screen.
Steve Jobs would tell you to hold the phone in your left hand. (It works better that way.)
Thanks! That's helpful.. I tried the finger test and it seems to work fine... when I'm holding the phone next to my ear with the sensor TOUCHING my ear, ii flickers on and off =S

Accelerometer and screen rotating

As everyone know WP7 has a feature which rotate screen as phone is rotated. In my phone it always work, almost 90% of time it is in "vertical" mode, when I rotate phone it switches to "horizontal", but I have seen issues few times:
1. when phone lays steady on flat surface (like table), when I unlock phone it is sometime switched to "horizontal", even when it was in "vertical" when I had put it on table,
2. when I am talking to sb with this phone, and phone is hold vertical, when I want to end call, the "end call" button is vertical, but options below changed to horizontal.
Of course every time phone switches back to vertical mode after 3-5s but it looks strange and annoying.
Has anyone else this problem?
I have check sensor calibration in MFG menu and it looks ok, at every flat surface I got reading 0 at both axis with small random noise (below 1).
Elektryk I've got the same problem but I don't care about it
same problem here... really annoying :S

[Q] Proximity sensor not working correctly

Well, I've searched the forums for this phone and I haven't found anyone with this issue.
When I make or receive calls, the proximity sensor either doesn't turn off the screen or, more often, it does but turns it back on after a while. This results in random keys being pressed making noise and, eventually, it presses the button to end the call or puts the call on hold and dials another number.
It's very, very annoying. Could it be something on the settings? Hope it's not hardware... Any sugestions on how to solve this?
I'm using Miui 1.9.9 with franco.kernel from 10 set.
The proximity sensor is located at the top left corner of the phone (next to the speaker) and flashes red while active. Make sure you cover this area with your head when speaking. I am left handed and sometimes the sensor doesn't detect anything because of the way I hold it, this could be the case with you also...
There are some apps that can help you test the sensor if it works or not.
Mine was stupid too with stock rom, but with custom roms it works very good. detects even finger in 3cm range and turns on screen after 2 seconds.

[Q] i9505 Proximity Sensor problem

Hi everyone,
since a few weeks i got problems with the proximity sensor on my i9505
First i thought that it is software related but after clean installing a new ROM yesterday i see that the problem still exists...
It happens when the proximity sensor should react, when i am close to it, it reacts and activates but the problem is that it wont turn off again...
i dialed the test menu and went to sensor test, as i see the sensor sees the distance normaly, when i bring it close and when i move it away i see that the numbers react how they should, however after the sensor is once trigerred with a close object it starts to vibrate and the screen turns green (how it should), but after moving away it registers the distance but it won´t stop to vibrate and turn off :/
Anyone who knows what could be wrong?
I have to mention that the display was changed once (because of the glass broke) but it was working normal for months...
EDIT: after testing again i see that the sensor sees the distance just as it should the only problem is that once that the sensor action is triggered to 1.0 from 0.0 it stays at 1.0 no matter if i remove my hand...
