Extract and open boot.img on Android 5.1.1

I have a Galaxy s4 R970, running cm12.1 on Android 5.1.1. And I want to open the boot.img file on my phone (don't have a computer currently) so I can edit the kernel to allow overclocking.
This will be my first attempt editing a kernel, but I need to expand my horizons.
So, the issue I have currently is a PIE error in terminal trying to open the boot.img using unmkbootimg command. (some older utilities) found here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/rooting-roms/how-to-guide-extract-boot-img-android-t3114380)

Although, I DO also have a rooted galaxy s aviator running jb, I would like to try to avoid using it as much as possible.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Hello..please somebody to help..i have x720 from gearbest..i buy it on november 2016...i have 5.8.017s (stabil) but i have not System update in setting..whem i donwload some update like 8.020s 9.020s 8.019s and rename ot update.zip always shoe me failde corruptioon

i just had the same problem.
i think it is liked with copying the zip to the phone.
try to download the zip directly with the phone and rename it/copy it to root.
should work then.

download update to PC and copy to phone use adb command : adb push somenting.zip /sdcard/

Problem Installing Magisk. Installation via twrp is not working.

I am trying to install magisk on my phone using twrp. I put a zip folder containing magisk on a micro sd card. I then placed the card in the phone and attempted to install the magisk via twrp. The installation always stops shortly after starting. I am not sure what I am doing wrong.
I have attached a screen shot displaying the installation log and the messages I got when trying to install magisk.

I have also tried using Moto G5 plus toolkit to install the magisk using the "flash any zip file" tool but that did not work either.

ROOT your Pixel3a through TWRP！

I am so happy that we don't need to root our devices through adb commonder but can via TWRP recovery!
firt of all, thanks to @ZVNexus, his work has made the recovery working pretty good and stable!
*Notice: you need to unlock your devide before.
instruction:
1.download the 'Magisk 19.3' zip file and put in your device.
2.flash TWRP recovery. just use these code:
<adb reboot bootloader >
when you get into bootloader mode, and then
<fastboot boot TWRP.img>
3.then the device will get into recovery mode automatically, flash the 'magisk 19.3' zip file which you put in your device before, just flash it
4.reboot, enjoy it!

Android IPTV box bricked. Question.

hi guys, i have a android box bricked, don't boot anymore after a update. i have a zip file to restore but only from system live, but like it boot anymore i can't use this zip file. i have acces to stock recovery but when i try restore from usb, it show signature verify failed, because the files to restore it's only when the box is working like i said.
My question is: Can i modify this files to transform in a flash recovery? Thanks. The box is a unknow board, i saw in a file RK322x, but i flashed some roms from this model but no luck.

I don't kwno if it can help, i extracted boot.img file and open default.prop . This information can help?
