Is there any custom roms that use camera shutter button as a dedicated screenshot buttons? Is there isn't any, can someone make it happen or it's impossible. I'm currently using lineage os and i would love if there's a quicker way to take a screenshot as I'm using it a lot.

i was thinking, say i see something interesting, by the time i start camera etc etc it will be gone..
is there or can someone do a quick snap program?
a click will
go to camera
focus and snap
based on pre determined settings
that will be good
Not that I've found - the camera app is what it is, and you can't get past the cutesy animated GUI.
With HD Tweak you can assign "camera" to one of the TF3D home screen soft buttons, which will launch direct into the "take picture" screen, saving you a flip and a press, but you still have to hit the shutter button.
hope someone does it
Try MortScripts. I have no personal experience though..
how can mortscript help for this?
I thought may be possible to reduce clicks required by using automation. May be wrong though
Any way camera start up time is still long even with the Rhodium ported camera app on cooked ROMs (slightly better though).
Use Dutty's rom, it has the Diamond 2 camera app in it.
The screen doesn not lag, and it is very fast!
am hoping for a see it snap it kind of program... is there no way to interface with the cam directly? any developers here pls
hmm no one knows?
Hey guys,
Just got a nexus S and immediately went shopping for a camera app to allow volume buttons as the shutter. Fell in love with Vignette.... just that i realised i couldn't use the camera in its ideal orientation! (with the volume buttons within reach of right index finger) Snapping the shot works fine but with the wrong native orientation it causes complications when viewing via gallery, uploading etc.
Then, i found out that Camera Zoom FX allows for volume shutter buttons as well. I tried it out and surprise, surprise the same issue occurs! Just got me wondering, is this a limitation on Android/Nexus S's part?
I emailed the devs of Vignette and they just told me they are working on it but i'm not holding up my hopes too high
Thoughts?
I use the standard camera app and the orientation works just fine. I think CM7 let me assign the volume keys as shutter.

Yes i noticed that as well. But as you know the stock camera is quite limited in features and i've taken quite a liking to Vignette.
If you remap the volume button to shutter on CM7, would that mean its permanently a shutter button? (I need to think really hard before indulging in custom roms, i dont want to void my warranty in my first week)

You wont void your warranty. Haha. Just lock back your bootloader and that's it

Only in a camera application. Otherwise they still function as volume buttons
Plus, the remapping can be undone by a simple checkbox.
I wouldn't be afraid to take the plunge and root your phone, btw. The nice thing about these Google phones is that you can't really break anything that you can't fix. Aslong as you follow the guides
PS: I just downloaded Vignette and the camera orientation works fine here too... maybe it's CM7 that fixes this, I don't know

Hello Arc community!
I am enjoying ICS on my Arc S and I really prefer it to GB. But I just would like to launch a couple of ideas to further improve the Ice Cream Experience on our Sony (Ericsson) devices:
Finally fast-capture has been implemented on Arc! As you know, just press and hold for a while power button + camera key to get direct access to the camera, and that's damn fast! By the way... is it possible to tweak this function to enable camera only pressing the camera key?
I thought Gallery on ICS would have implemented reach details when you zoom at 100% your photos, but unfortunately this is not true. Is it possible to tweak the Sony Gallery in order to provide richer photo details during zoom like QuickPic does?
Thanks in advance, I hope some dev could listen and help me
Actually, ICS Gallery does display images at full-size. You just need to wait for it to fully load.
It is actually possible to get direct access to the camera by only pressing the camera key ! Just push on it for like 1sec and it starts. But not just the camera focus button, you have to hear/feel the "click" twice! My Arc does it, so your Arc S will probably do the same. And i'm on ICS too
is there a mod available for the Razr M that allows the power button to be the camera shutter (and volume rocker as the zoom)?
I think the Camera ICS app allows this, but just curious to see if this is available (or baked into any existing custom ROM)?
thanks!

The only thing I've seen is the stock moto app let's you make the volume keys zoom or shutter. To be honest there is absolutely no reason to zoom in the camera app. All a digital zoom is - is cropping the picture which you can do in the gallery app if you really want to, but you get the benefit of cropping it exactly how you want it because you have more picture to work with where as zooming when you take the pic if you don't like the framing your SOL because the rest of the picture wasn't saved.
This also applies to every other camera, you want optical zoom because digital zoom is worthless. No phone has optical zoom.

I'm really liking the feature of the G2 where you can press and hold the down hardware button to access the camera.
What I'd really like to do though, is be always able to access the camera using the hardware button in Video mode. Does anyone know if this can be acheived
Thanks.
Ok guys, as I'd have no reply, I'm guessing this can't be done. :crying:
However that got me thinking.....
....would it be possible to switch the default camera app when you press the down button when the phone is locked
If so, maybe I could have a movie camera application as the default and therefore achieve my initail goal. :victory:
