request to have the bootloader unlocked then.
I assume we'll have to manually install google apps. I'm updating it via the updater app and seeing if that'll work even tho I've got twrp .
Is it better flashing with Recovery or Fastboot?
Why the Full ROM size is 1,5 GB and the Fastboot is 1,7 GB?

I was able to use the updater app to install the recovery rom no problem. very smooth.
But now my work application doesn't work because something to do w/ work profile not supported maybe.
Hi.If you flash fastboot rom do u loose the TWRP recovery
Yes I lost twrp.
But the bootloader remains unlocked. Are u able to flash twrp and root again?
Can someone tell me if I'll be able to get OTA updates if I install this global rom? Thanks

I think you should be able to. When I used the MIUI Updater app, it rebooted into TWRP to auto-install the Global firmware with no issues on the touchscreen. But it's possible to think that twrp may need to be updated to be used w/ Global like it did in RC1 or RC2.

It would make sense to do it this way. Once you have global, any new global updates would be updated via the MIUI Updater OTA.
Thanks. And how do I find the rom.No FC or random reboot issues.Google app fc's
Flashed using MI flash tool and relocked boot loader so I could have android pay. Did a factory reset after flash and have had no problems so far. Stable clean rom. Had issues with flash tool that resolved when I out all the files in a folder at the root (I put them in c:\rom). Flash tool didn't like a long nested folder name (sip aid the name was too long)

So does Android Pay works?
Yes once you lock the boot loader. Safety net helper comes up green and I can add my card. You do have to update play services after ROM install as it's been updates since the rom was built. After your first reboot after installing new rom you will get a notification to update play services

Mine works fine. I had other issues w/ google but I ended up resetting the phone to factory and everything runs as expected without major issues.
The Global Rom still has the
1. wallpaper carousel issue if using 3rd party launcher
2. cannot search for bluetooth devices for the Xiaomi auto unlock feature, the google option can add the devices, but it doesn't unlock the screen
3. google map feature does not work w/ a dual app that I use.
Can someone install football manager mobile 2017 and test? I have force crash. And ps I purchased on play store
Hey All, just got a MIX so I'm a newbie and apologies if my question has been covered extensively in a past thread.
The rom that came with my mix was xiaomi.eu. I used the Recovery Method to flash the Official Global Rom. However, when I did I didn't loose any data AT ALL.........it took a while for the recovery flash to go through (like 5-10 minutes), but then my phone just rebooted and all my apps, wallpaper, etc were there.
I checked, and the current MIUI Version is MIUI Global 8.2 Stable 8.2.1.0 (MAHMIDL).
Also, I tried to use Android Pay, got the error message, downloaded and ran the CTS app, and still failed. Does this mean I should get my bootloader unlocked (already submitted request) and fast flash and relock the bootloader??

I rooted my Mi A1 and was on December 1st update.
So I had free time just now and decided to flash stock rom and update to December 2nd update.
As I was using Mi Flash tool to flash the ROM, it somehow stopped working and I don't think it flashed the ROM properly.
My phone has been in bootloop state since then with the bootloader unlocked warning screen.
Been trying to flash the ROM but Mi Flash tool kept stopped working randomly when I flash the ROM.
I tried the following with no outcome:
1) Boot into TWRP and factory reset
2) Boot into stock recovery and wipe data/factory reset
3) Flash stock ROM via Mi Flash tool (stopped working randomly, but it shows success flashing screen, just that the phone doesn't reboot)
4) Tried different version of Mi Flash tool (beta and non-beta), all stopped working randomly
5) Restarted my PC (still Mi Flash problem)
Extra info that might help:
As I am in TWRP, I can see that my phone internal storage is empty with only 1 folder (TWRP)
My bootloader is still unlocked till now

Hello,
I am extremely frustrated right now. I got a new Mi 9T a week ago, and I absolutely love it. I waited the 160 hour waiting period, then I unlocked my bootloader in order to install Magisk. However, when I tried to install TWRP, I noticed some... issues.
I am currently using Ubuntu MATE on my laptop right now. I install adb and fastboot using apt, then I was successfully able to enter fastboot mode. After that, I flashed an unofficial version of TWRP, and when I tried to boot into it... nothing. It would just be stuck on the Mi boot screen. Or, it would just boot into the Mi Recovery.
I tried other guides, and every single one of them didn't work. So, I decided to use the adb method of installing Magisk on my phone. I created a patched boot image, then I flashed it to my phone, and... my phone is stuck in fastboot mode. I can't install TWRP, I can't install Magisk, and my phone is stuck in fastboot mode.
Additionally, I tried flashing the stock boot image to my phone, but it didn't change anything.
Firstly, is my shiny new phone bricked? Secondly, how do I fix it?
I absolutely love this phone, and I really want to use it again. Any help is greatly appreciated. :good:
wiping my phone didn't work either.
Hello,
Without having information about MIUI version installed on your Mi 9T, we can't help you...
To unbrick your phone, you need to download a "Fastboot" ROM installation ( https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/davinci/ ), extract all the files and flash it using "flash_all.sh" ( Linux script file ).

Thank you for the response. I will try that as soon as possible.
As for the MIUI version, I don't know the exact version (as I can't access my phone's OS) but it was MIUI 10 on Android 9 Pie, and I'm pretty sure it was the latest version at the time.

You can install EEA / Global version "Fastboot" ROM.
If you live in Europe, prefer EEA ROM instead of Global.

Hi,
I've done countless steps and watched a ton of videos today but still can't answer this and it feels like I'm missing something simple.
I received my xiaomi 9t today and quickly unlocked the bootloader (no wait time possibly because I had a Mi8 before hand so I already had an account). I've since installed TWRP as well as tried OrangeFox Recovery and still can't get any custom roms to work, it goes directly to the fastboot screen. I can get back into TWRP and flash xiaomi.eu rom, no issue but as soon as I go to a custom rom I get fastboot.
I've flashed my Mi 8 countless times but I can't seem to get this to go. I've tried making sure the mounts were correct, I've flashed a disable forced encryption thing that I saw on some youtube videos and still nothing works.
Thanks in advance,
Joe

Hello, what OrangeFox version did you install?
You should try with R10.1_1 if you are using latest one.
If your phone is working with xiaomi.eu ROMs..., do you know xiaomi.eu ROMs are custom ROMs?
You generally only have to "Format Data" in TWRP before flashing another ROM (stock or custom).
Good luck!
Hi,
Thank you for the reply. I now have OrangeFox R10.1_1 installed. sorry I should've said other custom roms aren't working xiaomi.eu seems to be fine for some reason.
I just installed OrangeFox, reflashed xiaomi.eu and booted, worked fine. Then I went back, formatted data, rebooted back to recovery, flashed AOSPextended and gapps pico. Rebooted to system and it went to the fastboot screen again. I noticed it says during the AOSP install that "Root Status: Disabled" could that be a problem?
Thanks again for your help.

Use the official TWRP.
You should install latest stable xiaomi.eu rom or install latest China rom through MI flash, you need latest vendor partition for latest custom roms to boot properly.

I installed the latest Global Rom 11.0.5. via OrangeFox. I couldn't get it to go with Mi Flash. Not sure how to create the flash_all.bat and where to get all the files from. Is that the same? What are the steps from here?
Thank you
The same exact issue I am facing. Tried multiple custom roms and everything failed to boot only resulting in bricked or error. Even my previous budget phone redmi 3s was much better than this.
Bootloader is unlocked. Using xiaomi.eu 12.0.4 .
Just curious, Can i install official rom 12.0.5 to my M3 global version?
Yes you can, you need to flash the fastboot version with MiFlash. Just make shure to keep the bootloader unlocked, because locking the bootloader on an other rom than the one that came on the phone will result in a brick.
In MiFlash in the right bottom corner you have a couple of options, you need to choose 'Clean all'.
You can try to use Mi Flash to install the fastboot ROM, but you need to choose "clean all", do not choose lock, the phone will not boot if the bootloader is locked and detects a ROM of a different region.
If it boots successfully after installing the official EEA ROM, you need to always keep the bootloader unlocked.
Edit: I have installed Taiwan ROM on my M3 that came with global ROM, using Mi Flash Tool, the phone still works after locking bootloader (clean all and lock).

I have installed Taiwan ROM on my M3 that came with global ROM, using Mi Flash Tool, the phone still works after locking bootloader, with the clean all and lock option.
So it is only not allowed to install a different region MIUI ROM on China devices, global devices do not have this limitation.

Hello, so you went from a Global rom (MI) to a Taiwan rom (TW)? I personally have a Redmi Note 10 Pro (in version 12.0.6.0, RKFEUOR), and I would like to change to a version 12.5.4.0 in RKFEUXM.
Logically, I will be in the same region since I am going from an EEA (EU) rom to an EEA rom (also EU), I simply remove the overlay from my Orange operator by switching from RKFEUOR to RKFEUXM. Will it be a problem if I lock my bootloader by doing "Clean All and lock"? I would like to keep the certifications.
Thank you !

The phone should still work without problems after relocking bootloader with that option, and it will still pass the certification.
But to flash the fastboot ROM you will still need to unlock bootloader, you can't update it with the recovery ROM method since they are different versions (OR and XM).

Okay, so to recap: I unlock with Mi Flash Unlock (there is a week left), then I flash my ROM for my Redmi Note 10 Pro "12.5.4.0 RKFEUXM" with Mi Flash while selecting "Clean All and Lock" , and the flash should go smoothly with the bootloader locked again after reboot? In short, the only ones who are affected by this problem are the Chinese who would like to move to another region (MI, or EU, TW ...), or those of Russian origin too, I guess ?

Yes, that is correct, make sure that the file you download is the fastboot ROM in the tgz format, not the recovery ROM.
Then you need to extract the tgz file into a folder, make sure there is no space in the path of the folder, so it's better to extract it to C:\ or D:\ on the computer, then select that folder in Mi Flash.
To unlock bootloader, you need to use the latest version of Mi Unlock (version 5.5), because there is an older version of it that already does not work.

Yes, at least in my own experience, the problem only exists when installing the official global ROM (or another region of MIUI) on a phone (after Redmi Note 5) that came with China ROM pre-installed. The phone will not boot until the bootloader is unlocked again.
I have tried installing the global ROM on the China versions of both Redmi 4X and Redmi 6 Pro, on Redmi 4X, I could lock the bootloader with global ROM installed and it would still boot, but Redmi 6 Pro wouldn't boot with locked bootloader, and it would show "This MIUI version can't be installed on this device".
The global phones I used (POCO M3 and Redmi 9T) do not have this problem, I have installed Taiwan ROM (TWXM) on both phones that came with the global ROM (MIXM) pre-installed, with re-locked bootloader, after more than 6 months, the phones still work well without software problems, they just feel the same as the phones that are from Taiwan.

Oh okay. So if I am able to switch from one EEA version to another EEA version without a mobile operator in order to have the updates in advance, I can also switch if I want from an EEA to a rom Taiwan, for example, or from EEA to an MI (global) ?
And another question, I had heard that as the phone was reset beforehand by unlocking the bootloader, then doing a flash clean and lock, some were blocked because for they asked for a Mi account, on restart, except that like the phone was reset (thanks to bootloader unlock), well the person was stuck because the phone no longer had the account registered. But I guess it's a minority, or it's a specific problem. Normally it doesn't ask to reconnect after doing "Clean all and lock" ?

Yes, you can install any other region of MIUI and lock bootloader as long as it's an official ROM for your device, not a custom ROM.
I chose to install the Taiwan version of MIUI because it has the MIUI dialer, while all other regions of MIUI except Taiwan and Indonesia only have the Google dialer which I don't like.

That is because MIUI's find device is enabled, if the phone had a different account signed in with find device enabled, after a factory reset, it will ask for the password of that account.
I think that usually happens when people buy used phones that the original owners did not remove their Mi accounts before selling.
I think if you are the only person who used the phone, it should be safe as long as you remember the password of your Mi account.
By unlocking bootloader, Mi unlock will erase the data on the phone, also when you flash the fastboot ROM, the data still needs to be wiped again.
So you will always need to type the password when the phone boots for the first time after data is wiped, if you have find device enabled, you will need to have an Internet connection to be able to type the password.
I am not sure what will happen if you disable find device before unlocking bootloader.
But when I tried to unlock bootloader of my phone without enabling find device, I had to wait for 15 days instead of 7 days.
Okay, so the only thing to do is to put the password of the Mi account with which I unlocked the bootloader (if asked at startup)? Anyway, I'm the sole owner, I bought it in June, it's just in case. Another thing, once I unlock the bootloader with Mi Unlock, and my data is erased, and therefore I end up with the phone's first setup screen, can I turn it off right away? I do not need to reconnect to my Mi account: I unlock the bootaloder, then I turn off immediately once it is well started and I flash in fastboot?

After unlocking bootloader, data will be erased and the phone will reboot, but you can just reboot the phone to bootloader (fastboot mode) by long pressing the power button and the volume down button, then flash the fastboot ROM in Mi Flash, and go through the setup after flashing the ROM, since data will be wiped again during flashing.
I received at the moment 12.5.1 (still under Orange operator rom) just before I unlock and flash, as if by chance. But I will still unlock the bootloader and flash, so I will have the latest version and then above all, I will have the updates faster.
