[Q] installed twrp recovery but bootloop with no download mode

After flashing recovery via flashify i get TWRP 2.6.3.3
but when i try to get firmware update mode (download mode) it stucks says: download mode.. and cannot recognize by PC whatsoever, so cannot use lg flash tool or support tool or dp-tool.
and in this mode phone gets really hot!
when i enter recovery i couldnt manage to install any rom because my sdcard is empty and otg-usb is not recognizable.
and in recovery mode, pc cannot detect the device only unknown device as "LG D802"
so i found android adb driver and manuelly install to windows.. but still i cannot pust any file over usb via adb.
adb push command gives me "read only system" error.
i also tried adb sideload to install custom rom from pc..
adb sideload command still gives me "read only file system"
i am assuming this is due to secured Kernel.. but i don't know what to do..
i also try the terminal command in twrp for adb commands.. but still no luck.
what can i do to push any custom rom.zip or any way around to install kdz?
i manually installed usb adv driver.. do i need to install as lg adb device..
can you give me a link to adb "inf" driver file?
Y uninstall current lg driver and download newest driver then reinstall( y can use google to find). Good luck
thanks i solved the problem via ubuntu.
i used "adb push" to /sdcard still got "read only" error.
but when i used "adb push" to /tmp i can managed to send/copy some zip files into my device.

What kind of recovery are you using? If you are using stock recovery. Just use add sideload. If you are using TWRP. Then go to fastboot and flash the stock recovery. You can find the stock recovery in the rom downloaded from Asus : https://www.asus.com/Phone/ZenFone_5_A500CG/HelpDesk_Download/. Version 2.22.40.540 is recommended
i use twrp and adb sideload and recovery mode not working

I need to know whether your partitions are okay or not. Please answer my questions below:
1. What's the model of your device? T00F/T00J?
2. Can you reboot into fastboot?
3. What was the last thing you did to it before bricking?
4. Does it flash the fastboot.img file successfully?
5. Which firmware were you using before sideload push? I mean when the device was fine, what was your firmware version?
6. Which version you were trying to push while you bricked it?

I got same problem (solved)
I have advice for you according my experience.
My device is T00F/A500CG
I assume you can enter bootloader or recovery mode, your pc installed all needed driver to do command adb sideload.
1. Download official ZenFone 5 firmware from ASUS website. Just go to Google and type keyword "download ZenFone firmware".
2. Download firmware 5.3.3.3 and 5.2.2.2 (apply same SKU according your device). because my device use WW sku, so I downloaded firmware WW_5.3.3.3 and WW_5.2.2.2.
3. Place those firmware inside adb folder in your pc.
4. Go to recovery mode on your ZenFone 5.
5. Connect your ZenFone to pc using USB cable.
6. Select menu "apply update from adb" on recovery mode.
7. Open cmd at your adb folder.
8. Check whether your device connected or not by using command "adb device". Make sure your device listed as attached.
9. Flash your firmware 5.3.3.3 using adb sideload command.
10. At recovery mode, select clear cache and user data (optional).
11. Once again, enter menu "apply update from adb" at recovery mode and flash firmware 5.2.2.2 using adb sideload command.
12. Do clear cache and user data at recovery mode. Then restart your device. Its will take time to load operating system for the first time, so be patient. Once you done, your device will be running on kit Kat.
This is other way. If you still want to use lollipop on your ZenFone 5.
Follow the step above until step 10. Once it done, restart your device (it will take time for the first time). You will be on lollipop because firmware 5.3.3.3 itself based on lollipop. And of you want to use latest update lollipop (firmware 3.24.40.87) don't do adb sideload from firmware 5.3.3.3 or it will be fail at 54% and you need to repeat step above from step 1.
If you want to proceed to firmware 3.24.40.87, do this:
1. Download ZenFone assists (I recommend this tool).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone-5/development/zenfone-assist-t3401996
2. Place downloaded file in a folder and extract it.
3. Run the *.exe file. (Active internet connection needed for next step).
4. Activate "developer option" on your ZenFone, active USB debuging and then Connect your ZenFone using USB cable to your pc.
5. Click on "root" menu at ZenFone assists. ( application will download some file for first time usage).
6. When it done, click on " I'm on android" and your device will reboot and automatically enter fastboot mode.
7. When your ZenFone at fastboot mode, click on "execute" on ZenFone assists.
8. Done, reboot your device and if there is no super SU app installed, don't worry, your device has been successfully rooted. Check using root checker if you doubt that.
9. Successfully rooted, now use ZenFone assists to unlock your bootloader( use menu "unlock bootloader" at ZenFone assists). The processes will be similar
As process 5-7.
10. Install TWRP using ZenFone assists. Its also similar with process 5-7.
11. Download moded stock firmware 3.24.40.87 from here
drive.google.com/open?id=0B7Py5ad2aHwKMHRsZ1NJM0tfLTQ
(Source thread :http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone-5/help/how-to-revert-to-stock-firmware-t3303654)
This firmware is completely same as official firmware from ASUS, only changed in Meta.inf file so make it able to flash through TWRP.
12. Place downloaded firmware in your SD card.
13. Reboot your device to fastboot mode and enter recovery mode.
14. Your official recovery now replaced by TWRP.
15. Just touch "install from zip" menu at TWRP and select storage where you place the firmware. Do the flashing process, be patient and wait until done.
16. When its done, using TWRP wipe your cache and reboot your device. It will take time for first boot, be patient.
To restore your device all into normal (relock bootloader and replace TWRP with original recovery). Do this:
1. Enable developer option on your device then connect it to your pc using USB cable.
2. Open zenfone assists and select menu "relock bootloader". I assume you already familiar with this process.
3. Open downloaded firmware 3.24.40.87 and extract droidboot.img, boot.img, and recovery.img from inside the zip file and place them inside adb folder.
4. Reboot your ZenFone to fastboot mode, open cmd in adb device folder.
5. Flash fastboot using command fastboot flash fastboot fastboot.img
6. Flash recovery using command fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
7. Flash kernel using command fastboot flash boot boot.img
8. Enter recovery mode then wipe cache and user data (optional).
9. Or just reboot your device.
10. Done, enjoy.

Downgrade from nougat G model to b10

Hey guys,
I updated my axon to official nougat, unfortunately I cannot live without my xposed modules so I decided to go back to b10.
I have the bootloader unlocked, but after I flashed nougat my twrp recovery got replaced with the factory one. For some reason I cannot boot the phone into fastboot to flash twrp again so I can revert back to b10.
PS: I tried to downgrade with applying the update.zip b10 package from stock recovery and for some reason it doesnt work.
May I ask you guys what am I missing here to complete the task ? what am I doing wrong ?
Regards
Hi, i had the same problems, this answer helped me:
* Enable USB Debugging
* 'adb reboot edl' (I thing this only applies to european models)
* Put twrp image next to axon7tool and rename it to "recovery.bin"
* Use axon7tool to flash the recovery image: 'axon7tool -w recovery' ( Remember to use zadig if you run into problems communicating with your device )
I have been trying this for the past hour . I tried with qualcomm drivers , i tried zadig but it doesnt work. When i execute the axon7tool command and it doesnt work
I've managed it. Just grab the official software update from ZTE's support website, whack that file on ya SD Card and then go to "System Update" in settings and it should appear there with an "upgrade" button.
I put update.zip on the sd and did what you said but it doesn't appear the upgrade. I tried from recovery mode as well and I get an error about footer
the update.zip (which is provide by OTA) will to work. Try the full firmware from this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/axon-7-chinese-stock-roms-t3436817

Soft Bricked without TWRP - ADB can only sideload

Hi all, so I tried to flash a custom rom for the first time and was stupid enough to try to flash stock firmware (from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7-mini/development/firmware-stock-firmware-t3696538) without first flashing TWRP.
Now when I boot into android recovery reboot and reboot to bootloader doesn't work and gives me a strange heart beat sound, also when powering off and plugging in the charger. Now I can only 'Apply update from ADB' and when using the adb tool I cannot do 'adb reboot edl' and can only sideload or get info.
When sideloading every file I tried gives an error when verifying, either 'footer is wrong' with 'error: 21' or that the whole-file signature failed.
I tried sideloading my read boot and recovery files, stock firmware bootstack & system and boot, twrp image, 7.1.1 b12 & b13 noverity images, and the eu v1.2.0 b13 update.
I have an EU version 7.1.1/NMF26V/20170909.121037 which is probably b13 which I last updated before trying to flash a custom ROM.
adb devices -l gives: 6064a8eb sideload product852A11 model:ZTE_B2017G device:tulip transport_id:2
Probably what needs to happen is for the phone to get into EDL mode, but I have no idea how.
The US version trick with both volumes buttons + power just gets me into Android Recovery, should I get an EDL cable?
Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks!

Hi! Try to check if the "Apply update from a SD card" option is active in the menu. It well may be.
The same problem happenned to my phone a couple of days ago after I deleted a custom rom, and the "apply update from the ADB sideload" menu option didn't work properly. However, I managed to install B16 firmware from my SD card via the "update from the SD card" menu line.
I have the EU Axon 7 mini version. The B16 firmware that successfully restored my phone is here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79336783&postcount=91
As for the ways to get your phone into the EDL mode, you can try to push and hold "Volume -" and "Power" buttons simultaneously. This should bring your EU version phone into the FTM mode. Then you can check if the phone is seen via ADB ("adb devices" command). If yes, then just type "adb reboot edl". (However, in my case the buttons didn't work. )
