Hello folks!
In a drawer I found my Huawei P8 lite (alice). I had last installed LINEAGEOS 15.1 (Oreo). A quick search showed me that @DarkJoker360 has developed a 16.0 (Pie). I have downloaded and installed it. To do this, previously backed up everything and deleted it from the phone. Also reformatted the data partition.
Unfortunately, I guess the modem does not start. Since I'm not an expert, of course I do not understand this definitively. I have tried various things, including flashed the original and gradually installed everything again. Without success. I have also restored everything possible from previous backups.
Interestingly, when I restore my saved Oreo, which worked, there is also no modem. The Phone data itself is still saved though, but I don't know where. If I query the data with a program via ADB when the phone is started, I see a) no serial number and b) no modem. If I start the phone in the bootloader and query via Fastboot, the data is displayed correctly. So there is probably a loading problem.
Oh, the phone gets very warm under Pie every now and then (CPU info app: ~75°C (~167°F). However, not in the original or Oreo.
Would appreciate some help. Keep in mind that I'm German and my English is a bit rusty. Please do not write too complicated.
LG.

So, I am new to the community and just recently created an account to make a new topic because something happened:
I have a N6P and I was disappointed with the whole "Pixel exclusives" thing, so I decided to root and flash some of the new features into the phone. Everything I wanted I could find in the threads of this forum and it was nice and easy. I did get to a nice point where I had all the features I wanted, and then, I saw that there was a beta update for the new android version 7.1.1. From there I realized how little I know about the android system, and for that reason I want to ask a few questions. First, I'll describe the steps I took and the result i got:
1 - Backed Up data with TWRP (Boot, System, System Image, Vendor, Recovery)
2 - Updated to 7.1.1 through the phone settings
3 - Reboot
4 - Checked everything (all working fine until here), I had lost my root and TWRP because the new system took place.
5 - Reflashed TWRP
6 - Patched again the Pixel Launcher and SuperSu through TWRP
7 - Reboot
From that time on, the phone did boot, but the default launcher didn't start and a system app presented errors: Everythime I closed the error box, if popped again, blocking me from doing anything.
After the inicial problem, I promptly went to TWRP and tried to restore the backup I made. Now the phone became unable to start the OS, it runs the boot animation forever and nothing happens.
Now I am downloading a Stock ROM to flash through fastboot and do everything again.
Now to the questions:
1 - What did I do wrong? Why didn't the Backup work? What should I do differently from now on to have a reliable restore point of my device(just in case I screw up again)
2 - What can I do (besides flashing stock room) in order to recover my system? It is annoying to have to start from zero again thinking i had a backup made just to prevent that.
3 - Where can I learn more about the Android filesystem and OS architecture? (I am a developer, but I'm also lazy as ****, so i'd appreciate "explain like i'm 5" links)
Thank you all.
Hello,
I've done quite a bit of reading here before posting this. I found bits and pieces of information that I tried to put together, but the outcome is not what I want, so maybe someone here knowledgeable could help me.
Device = Moto G5+
I've unlocked the bootloader, loaded twrp over the recovery partition, rooted the phone, performed a twrp backup prior to installing a custom rom. Then I tried another rom and another. They all have bugs or things to correct, so I decided to go back on my original load by recovering the «start» partiton from my twrp backup. That went well enough. However, since I restored the backup, I get errors and applications (like Settings !) crashing. There is obviously some sand in the gears somewhere. I then tried to reload the phone with POTTER_RETAIL_7.0_NPNS25.137-93-4_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip using Minimal ADB & Fastboot, but that fails. The first 2-3 steps work, then up on the 4th or 5th, I get an error message stating that flashing is unallowed (these are not the exact words, but close enough. I can provide exact words upon demand). From what I read, it seems like I cannot use the NPNS25.137-93-4 load on my phone because my phone shows version NPNS25.137-93-8 which is newer than NPNS25.137-93-4. From there, I am lost. Must I wait until I can get POTTER_RETAIL_7.0_NPNS25.137-93-8_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip or is there a way around that.
My ultimate goal is to reload my phone with a 100 % working software, relock the bootloader and wait for slow Moto to release Oreo over OTA.
Note : My twrp backup is version NPNS25.137-93-4, but an update came in right after I restored from the backup, but upon instaling, the update concluded with a failure status.
Hi All
Please help me with this
My phone is Lenovo A6000+ and last month, after lot of hard work I was able to get my phone up and running and installed Dot OS custom rom for A6000+ based on oreo 8.1
It was running fine up until yesterday. I was changing settings and unluckly I turned on Data saver, It unleashed havoc on my phone and I dont know how my phone went into encryption mode. On restarting the phone I was getting some about encryption, I dont how it happened. I never turned on anything like that in settings. May be it was google settings. I don't know.
I thought I can reinstall OS again as i have done in the past.
I started doing it and i got this message /storage /data could not be mount, I dug up the internet for solutions and implemented most of the solution provided here or youtube or different websites or blogs , nothing worked.
I have tried format option as told , repair, but it didnt help me out.
I reinstalled stock recovery, tried twrp 3.2.1.0 for A6000+ but it didnt work out.
Twrp shows 0 MB for internal storage.
Please help me out.

Change the file system of these partitions from ext4 to f2fs and back again to ext4. This will restore your partitions.

You have to be on Oreo compatible latest TWRP 3.2.1.

Same thing happened to me, do you find any solution?
Hello! Long time lurker on here but first time posting. I follow this guide to unlock bootloader and install twrp on the zc553kl. https://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone-3/how-to/zenfone-3-max-zc553kl-bootloader-unlock-t3691837
It kind of worked, and it did flash twrp. The only problem is that the twrp although launching, didnt seem to have permissions to access storage, probably due to a data encryption problem. all the storages had 0mb sizes and i couldn't do anything.
So naturally i googled my problem and tried a few methods.
Nothing seemed to work, and i ended up doing an advance wipe. That also failed and it said it didnt have access or permission to do it (something along those lines). Next day i decide to try again and now my internal storage seemed to show.
So i ended up formatting it, and while the files seem to be still there, i changed .ext4 to .ext2 and back again, and then it stopped recognizing the stock rom i still had installed. Please note that before all of this, although twrp didnt work properly, the phone still worked fine and booted into android. My problem is now the stock rom is gone, twrp says no OS installed, and i have tried my best to reinstall the stock rom, but that hasn't worked. Any ideas or help would be welcome thanks guys

i downloaded a previous rom version from asus site and that flashed fine.
Hi,
A few days ago I unlocked my bootloader and tried to install a ROM on my phone, more specifically the latest version of Bootleggers, to my surprise it didn't work and now I have a serious problem, because of my lack of patience(I didn't wait for health to get better to buy a bigger memory card, mine is only 2gbs sad life), I didn't back up my phone (nooby and stupid, sry guys), and now my phone doesn't want to boot into any OS I put on it (even the original one), I've tried pretty much everything (I know off), do mind that i only have 2 days of experience so I don't know that much. If anybody knows anything that might change my phone for the better I would appreciate the help.
Stuff that happened
I think I might have deleted something I should't have when trying to install Bootleggers for the first time.
I have successfully installed a OS ones, Havoc OS 2.9 (through ADB though), but I didn't like the interface so I deleted it and tried others, Resurrection Remix and ASOP, none of them worked so I tried flashing Havoc through ADB again, but this time it failed, it stopped in the middle of booting like all the other ones.
I can get into Recovery, eRecovery and Fastboot mode.
I don't have ROOT (Magisk) on it (at least I think), I installed it ones, but my OS didn't load so I tried deleting it afterwards and I got a error in the terminal probably because I didn't have it installed.
I still don't have a bigger SD card, I'm gone buy it tomorrow tho.
Info
Phone - Huawei P10 Lite
Model - LX1A
Firmware - WAS-LX1 8.0.0.368(C432)
Software (Mentioned in the quick start guide that came in the box) - WAS-LX1AC900B049
TWRP - 3.3.1 (also 3.2.1 but only for the MTP function(sometimes it gives me a black screen after opening it))
Problem - Phones starts booting the OS I put on it, but then stops and returns or to Recovery or eRecovery.
I dont know what more info to put here, like I said earlier nooby (and pls dont hack me if ive put the wrong info online, thx).

Hi,
have you tried to enter into eRecovery and click download and flash and then tried it?
