hi!
in order to test something, i need to replace the build.prop in root/system with a modified one. but trying to delete this file with astro manager displays an error message, and just copying the modified build.prop over the old one doesn't work too (nothing happens).
so my question is: how do you replace such a file?
thanks in advance for your help
are you serious!?!?!?
If the build.prop is located on the Android folder IT HAS TO BE A SYSTEM FILE !!!
if you mod the system files you could break android or the system just won't let you do it, you will need R and W privileges to do that.
edit the system files from your PC or just boot up in to windows mobile.
use some common scene next time.
hope it helps!

Do you use a cyanogen build?
yes and there is already a cyanogen rom posted with the proper build.prop fixed, so you won't have to edit anything, just search for it.

mmmh actually cyanogen made things easy to replace a system file, just copy your file into sdcard/android/root/system and reboot.
thanks for your help / posts. but unfortunately they're not helpful.
yes, i am serious! and yes, of course it's a system file. i know as well that modification might brick android.
there are reasons for modifying this file. some people seem to be able to, e.g. for chaning screen point density or modify the data passthrough.
so, please tell me, how can i edit/modify a system file from pc or windows mobile when its within the data.img-file?
thanks for any tips / hints on this.
use root explorer

Thank you VERY much for your help - I finally got it to work by listening your instructions. It is simply different if you have HD2 and plus CM mod. That figures why it was going back all the time to 180 instead of changing it - because it runs from sd card and that's where it needs to be replaced as well ...

Hi!
I'd like to mod the spotify app so my miui rom can detect the app as a musicplayer. Right now i cant use my bluetooth headset to controll the app.
To do what i want i know that i need to add the line "Android.intent.action.MUSIC_PLAYER" to the "AndroidManifest.xml" file.
I've tried this with no success, so i wonder if someone could help me?
The Apk is avalible here:http://www.2shared.com/file/y3g_LcoP/SpotifyAndroid.html

Thank you for your help, but the first file i don't even know how to install and the sencond file after changing the name to *.apk instead of *.apk.zip astro don't show any install button?
Thank you in advance!
Oops the first file is the wrong file sorry. And the second is the file for the .apk, open it with Eclipse and you can make the changes you want. I'll upload the actual apk file when I get home again. Sorry about that.

I have been trying a way to spoof the MAC address on A700FD. Please help me with it. I am running stock Marshmallow 6.0.1 rooted.
I tried all mac changing apps and terminal commands but nothing worked. Then I looked into the files at /sys/devices/soc.0/a000000.qcom,wcnss-wlan/net/wlan0 . There was a file called "address". It has the mac address of the wifi adapter. I tried editing the file and saving it, but it never saves it. I've checked all root permissions and other stuff. Other system files are being saved, but this gives error. Please help me with this. Thanks ! :good:
I own a Redmi 3S land. The device is rooted. I installed change my mac from the playstore to try spoofing my mac address. But, the mac address doesn't change because of this reason.
There is a file called WCNSS_qcom_wlan_nv.bin in the /root/persist folder. It has to be modified in order to modify the system's mac address.
It is a binary file and can be modified by using hex editor.
But, when I search for the current mac address in the hex editor, I'm not able to find it. If anyone suggested a way to actually spoof the mac address, it would be really good.
i don't think you can change the Mac address of your phone via editing a file, because it is hard wired in the NIC (network interface card) . i haven't had any success with Mac spoofing either but you could try ghost Mac changer:good:

Yeah I have changed my Mac using this method. (Device : Redmi 3s prime)
Hello everybody.
I have a problem about my Redmi Note 7.I want to ask to you about it, if another one had the same problem with me.
My phone is unlocked and rooted (Magisk). And i use original MIUI 11 version with oem kernel.
-The problem is, i want to modify gps.conf file to get a better gps performance.I know to tweak it, i had been doing that on my old phone also. And the problem starts here.I use "es file explorer" by root rights and can modify the file and save it.Everyting seems okay. But when i restart the phone and check the file, i see that the phone restores that file (gps.conf) to its original oem state. So although i can modify and save it by a root file manager after a restart it turns the original state.I can not prevent it.Is there any way to fix that situation?
Thank you.
Test this module from magisk download section. And maybe modify it with ur gps.conf
