Flashing a Galaxy Core Prime? - Samsung Galaxy Core Prime Questions & Answers

It has Android 4.4 on it, but LTE. So besides the old os still usable.
We tried Odin, it wants a .tar.md5, what is a good way to convert it to a .tar.md5, we did the tar tool for Odin, it made a small seperate .md5 file.Just want 1 file to flash, is there a easy way in Linux to do it?

[Q] How to remove the bootloader from a ROM?

Anyone can make or write here a tutorial how to remove the bootloader from a ROM?(because of signing bootloaders)
In the thread which contains the patch for unsigning the bootloaders they mention to remove bootloaders (BUT HOW?) or flash "safe" custom ROMs
e.g.: like I want to install a STOCK samsung firmware through Odin or Heimdall, and I want to know which file(s) have to be removed.
open up the tar and remove boot.bin and sbl.bin and ur done
Do you re-tar the file?

If you want to flash it via Odin. Otherwise you can just use Heimdall.

If you are flashing with Heimdal, then just leave out the boot.bin and sbl.bin files and you'll be okay. If you want to flash with Odin you will need to open up the tar file and delete these two. Be careful with doing this as tar files modified in Windows don't always flash properly with Odin, you need to use Linux to tar the files up to be sure it will work okay. I have Cygwin on my Vista PC and use this to tar up files for flashing with Odin and it works fine. I pull all the files out of the tar then re-tar the ones I want to flash. I've done this for removing bootloader files and making mix and match files of different pda, csc and modem versions successfully.
I would be interested to know if anyone knows of a Windows program that can be used to create tar files that are flashable with Odin??

Using CF Auto Root on Mac OS X and/or Linux?

As anyone running OS X or Linux would know, the only truly "supported" way of rooting an S4 talked about on XDA is using CF Auto Root and Odin to flash it. There used to be Motochopper, but that no longer works with recent versions of the S4 firmware.
I actually am familiar with the concepts of how flashing a device works, and upon seeing videos or pictures of selecting the CF Auto Root .tar.md5 file for "PDA" in Odin, I wondered if what was going on behind the scenes was as simple as just performing a regular flash to recovery or whatnot.
I downloaded CF Auto Root and extracted the .tar.md5 file. Why it has the .md5 extension, I'm still not sure. Perhaps it's just because Odin requires that extension? I don't know if it's actually important. Inside though, I found 2 files. They were cache.img.ext4 and recovery.img.
I did some research before posting, but didn't find anything definitive. However, I'm assuming that using Heimdall to flash would work. Because Heimdall interfaces with the device the same way Odin does, only Heimdall actually supports OSes other than Windows. Only problem is, Heimdall doesn't have a one-click "PDA" button to flash the .tar.md5 like Odin does. But would using Heimdall to flash the cache and recovery image files work? Is that all that needs to happen for the S4 to be rooted? Or does Odin also perform some additional function, some function which Heimdall wouldn't do automatically?
To make a tl;dr I guess, has anybody tried flashing cache and recovery image files from the CF Auto Root .tar.md5 file to a S4? Did it work? If so, was there anything special you had to do in order to get it to work? Any answers or insight from someone else would be greatly appreciated. If I could get this working with my S4 I might make a video tutorial so that then there's a good tutorial out there that works for OSes other than Windows.
I did it in heimdall. Worked perfectly

You just entered in the recovery.img and cache.img.ext4 files as they were and flashed? You didn't do anything else?

Please follow this link. I just did it a few mn ago, and it worked good. Had to do it twice (don't know why). Flash process takes only a few seconds. In case Heimdall hangs too long (> 1 mn) at " Releasing device interface" with no progress bar, power off your device and start again the process.

Bricked Galaxy S4, any chance to bring it to life?

Hi guys,
I had a rooted galaxy s4 I9505, which I tried to encript before selling. After 10 hours the encripting did not finish so I rebooted it and ended up with a bootloop, that I tried to foolishly solve by going to the TWRP menu and formatting the device, the OS was lost and since then I am unable to bring it back to life. I am trying to flash a new rom with jOdin because it keeps saying that the PIT file that my phone shows is corrupt, I tried different versions of jOdin and two different computers. Kies and the like are uninstalled. I tried downloading PIT files online with no luck.
Do you guys have any suggestions? I am really lost after wasting 2 days on this.
Many thanks...
Try downloading the official firmware from sammobile. And flash using odin. That should work

Thanks Soyuz4u, but Odin keeps saying that has found a corrupted file (either the PIT file or another) and does not even start flashing.
Has anyone had this problem before?
Can't you flash a rom via TWRP? I managed to soft brick my device last night with Mobile Odin. It wiped my recovery and OS. I just flashed TWRP back with normal Odin and restored my rom backup.
Have you googled to see if there is a pit file for the memory configuration of your phone?

Try a different USB cable / port. That error is related to that a lot of the time.
Thanks for the replies guys. I couldn't flash a new ROM with TWRP because it kept saying that the .md5 file could not be found, no matter what I did. I downloaded some PIT files online but did not find something specific to my phone memory config.
I'll give it a go in a Windows platform with different USB ports to see if that helps.
Thanks again!

I don't think you have any clue what you are doing.
You say you have TWRP on your device. Then download a custom rom and flash it with TWRP.
- What do you mean with .md5 file cannot be found? You never ever use a .md5 file with TWRP. You only need to flash a .zip.
- Are you running Odin in a virtual machine? That will not work. Jodin is also outdated if i'm not mistaken.
SOLVED NOW! I installed the latest Odin on WIndows and flashed the Rom with no problem. I was unaware of Odin being outdated for Mac. Thanks all for your help again.

Hey, just an opinion. Search around G928G modem.tar and flash it by CP tab of odin before flashing the firmware. Than try flasing firmware. If fails again, remove modem.bin file from firmware(dont know how to). Otherwise extract the whole files from firmware, delete modem.bin and make the rest files as firmware with proper tool(TAR maker or else). Good luck.

Paying to get this fixed

My s7 edge got stuck at boot screen so i reflashed stock rom and rerooted then restored the backup i had, it said fail because of low memory while restoring the system and now when i try to reflash the stock rom on odin it says model dismatch fail.
If someone could help me fix this I'm willing to pay something decent, but not a whole lot lol

i did that lol thats when it says "model dismatch fail"
Do you have custom recovery?
Do you have a custom recovery?
Do you have the right and the newest Odin Version?
Did you try it with another transfercable or USB-Port?
Do you have the newest samsung drivers?
Did you have any Odin problems like this before?
My suggestion:
Just do a full wipe on your phone. Downlad the newest Odin Version. Get your device into download mode (maybe try different transfercables or USB Ports and the newest samsung drivers) and see if it works now.
If yes, flash the right Bootloader and Modem for your device and then flash the rom you wanted to flash.
If this didnt work, (and you have a custom recovery) try to reinstall the rom without any backups via the recovery at first and check afterwards, if the device is now recognized by Odin.
Good luck

I guess you still have twrp installed.
1. Step: go to TWRP and wipe everything except your SD-Card
2. Step: enter download mode on your device and then plug your usb in (maybe try a different usb-port or even another computer, or another usb cable)
3. Step:Flash the newest bootloader & modem in one step.
4. Step: Enter TWRP again and flash the firmware.zip via the installation process
I dont have TWRP, but i got it fixed, somehow my roomate got it, thanks anyways guys
So all he got was my phone to turn on, im still having this model dismatch fail issue..
Maybe You're trying to flash wrong firmware? What model did You buy?(check box) and what firmware did You download?
If nothing works then download 7zip. And remove all files from that tar.md5 file and leave system.img only. And then try reflashing it.
This way no matter what device You connect it should force flash this image file. Although it might be dangerous (a tiny little bit) so first make sure that You have proper firmware for Your model.

Yes, I've used these files multiple times before i did what i did, ill give that a try, if it works, i owe you.
If system.img by itself will flash successfully and Your phone won't boot then add slowly more files to that tar file (boot.img, recovery.img etc)
You could also try looking for a pit file for Your phone and then flash it with it. Pit file usually fixes most problems even broken partitions.
And make sure that You put that tar file in AP/PDA.
If nothing above works then send me screenshots of ODIN and the file that You're trying to flash. Maybe I'll notice something. But I hope You'll fix it
