Is it possible? Yes, provided the right expertise and knowledge. Is it easy? No. The screen on your device is designed to run at 60Hz, and may not accept higher refresh rates; trying to force a higher refresh rate will often result in artifacts and other bugs.

Hi, I know that super AMOLED screens have a really short response time and so I'm sure we can go easly to 144Hz and more, but how can we get that ? Does just an app with root privileges can do that ? Or a custom kernel ? Or it is just impossible ?
Thank you for helping
I don't think there is. There is not much to be found on google about the subject. I also don't think the phone would be able to reach that 144 fps. Android phones have some kind of vertical sync which limits fps to refresh rate.
You can disable that fps limiter, but doing so creates visual artifacts.
Also, I did disable mine once and in quadrant's fps counter the fps never got above 110 fps..

How to Disable Vsync?
Someone now the Hz rate of the display samsung galaxy s7 edge
Most likely 60hz. Otherwise I'm sure we would've heard of it by now. A minimum of 90 would be nice for VR, but otherwise it isn't justifiable on a phone in this day and age. At least not with the "vox populi".
i would be already happy about 60fps films and videos

This is about screen refresh rate, not FPS in videos.
Dame. I was hope for like 100+ . VR headset going to be bad.

I'm pretty sure I heard carmack say (At least about the Note4 at the time) that in gearvr mode it DOES bump the display up to ~90hz.

But screen refresh rate isn't useful when input material hasn't even got enough frames And the menus wont be fluent too because almost all animations still stutter

Screen refresh rate effects the entire UI, gaming, etc.
open this site on your browser "www.displayhz.com".It will show the refesh rate.
It's 60hz! but I want a petition for 80hz! trust me even the UI feels much better c: Specially on phones since there's scrolling and etc. I have a 144hz monitor and I can't stand my 60hz one next to it! even when browsing the web c:
But *ehm* *ehm* samsung should first make 60hz work first.... Cause I feel like all animations are 30fps c:

Didn't take long though did it lol. February 2016 you wrote that now we have Razor Phone with 120hz display.
it's 59 hz
Can it switch to 90Hz for VR? Would be nice to trigger this for Standard UI.
As the title says, anyone knowledgeable know what the operating temp range and the screen refresh rate of the SM-T530NU is? I'm watching 720p60fps videos on it and it doesn't look as smooth as it should. Also, pm8226_tz temp is reporting low 50s. Is that within spec?
Thanks for your time.
Dear Devs, Hi
As the title says, is it possible to have a rom with higher refresh rate like 70-90 hz refresh rate?
If someone has worked on such project, kindly guide.
Regards.

Download Activity Launcher from Google Play and enter the word "High" in it.
Same discussion on Note 10+ forum... This is an option that does not apply to anything but the s20 series of phones. Note 9/10/10+ don't support 120hz refresh rate, hence it is not in the settings but hidden in the firmware...
Just a lazy bit of coding by Samsung who decided it was easier to hide it than to remove it from phones firmware that don't support this refresh rate.
you think is not possible to enable this option with custom rom because im sur this screen support 120hz refresh rate at full hd+ resolution my old aquos phone 5 years lcd screen can support it at full HD resolution i just need to enter infos app exemple nova launcher and check case high speed lcd and apply i think we need add this option on custom rom ty
The hardware doesn't support it. You might get a few extra hertz but you won't see 120hz refresh rate... If you do then you are experiencing the placebo affect...
It's not possible to get 120hz refresh rate on a 60hz screen unless the screen actually supports 120hz refresh rate. Seems a stupid idea to me to include a higher refresh rate screen (with the additional cost) then NOT capitalize on it as a feature to buy this phone over the competitors, especially as people wanted this...
I tested with a camcorder to see the refresh rate and still the same 60HZ.
