I have developed apps for Android and Wear OS watches – mainly for personal use. It's no problem for me to use ADB to Install to a watch.
But, I would like to install the APK on a friend's watch, who is not a developer or very technical. It Would be nice to be able to do this without a lot of rigmarole. I can enable Developers Options on his watch, but installing ADB to his PC is asking a lot. It would be nice to have a PC app, hopefully that is portable and can reside on a flash drive, that will simply interface with the install protocol to install an APK on the watch.
Does something like this exist?
Barry.
A little more searching and I found this, Flakie's ADB GUI:
Direct download:
https://flakie.co.uk/downloads/FlakieADBGUI.zip
There is a GUI for the common ADB commands and an integration with scrcpy (as in version 1)
It now has an experimental option to use ADB and ADB Shell commands by typing/pasting them in.
I have not actually tested it, but it seems to be exactly what I was looking for.
I downloaded ADB and put the "platform tools" folder on my Flash drive. I also put Flakie's on the flash drive along with the APK I intend to eventually install.
Theoretically this should give me a portable install for the APK (fingers crossed). I am hoping to connect to my friends watch via Wi-Fi and use Flakie's to install the APK.
As an alternative, there is also ADB AppControl. It is well known, and the developer has it quite improved.
ADB AppControl
Official website of the ADB AppControl application. Free Download. Latest release. The ultimate applications manager and debloat tool for Android devices.

Okay, you have installed Froyo but was unable to access it with your PC. This is not actually a solution, I just made this post so it won't be confusing coz I've been looking at other post and all the issues are all mixed-up - it is very confusing.
This is actually a problem for me since I can't use the Market to download applications. I can't use Market because of the WiFi issue so the only solution would be to use PC connection.
If you have any solutions please specify it here.
For the time being, the solution I found didn't work for me but I'll post it here anyway - it might work with you guys.
Probable solution:
Download the Android SDK. (Note: If Java SDK isn't installed in your system then you might be prompted to download it as well, it will automatically prompt you to go there so no need for a link).
Install Android SDK.
After installation, you will be prompted to CHOOSE the package you wan't to be installed in your machine. Approve SDK Platform tools because the INSTALL button will not be activated if you don't choose it and approve. Approve GOOGLE USB Driver Package. REJECT the rest because some of the packages are around 75MB+ and it will take you a lot of time. Just install the rest when you need it.
After installation, it will require you to restart the ADB - just restart it.
Follow instructions in this page -- http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html --.
Hope it works for you guys.
So tomorrow I'll be receiving a Nexus 10 from swappa that is already rooted and unlocked.
I still want to be prepared to have all the tools just in case I need to unroot & lock her back up.
I read that ADB needs to be updated for 4.2.2. I am no longer familiar with ADB and just wanted to know the best place to find the most recent files.
I read through some of wugfreshs' thread and I'm still a little in the dark.
Any help would be appreciated :beer:
Install android sdk, and platform-tools inside it, you'll have latest ADB/fastboot version.
If you type just 'adb' (you may have to reboot or even add it to your path then reboot), it will give you all the adb command parameters, same with fastboot, then it's only a matter of finding further explanation if needed.
If the toolkit fails, you'll have no idea where it failed. Better learn it how Google does it first. This is a Nexus after all.
I think you should read the link below, ADB and fastboot still applies, what might not apply is partition tables, kernels, etc, but you already know that.

100% this. You will have a far better time later on (and with other devices even) if you learn how to do stuff manually early, via ADB and Fastboot provided by Google. Toolkits do nothing for your knowledge besides hampering it, and there's even talk of some toolkits (I don't know of any for the N10) containing malware.
Would you rather trust your device security with random programs, executables, and very likely un-updated drivers from a complete stranger, or you would trust Google's own tools? :good:
To give a brief setup process with Android SDK, you first need Java SDK installed, then grab Android SDK (either just the basic 21MB installer or the entire ADB developer bundle with eclipse), install it, run SDK Manager, grab Tools (may be already installed), Platform-tools, and Google USB Driver, install Google's USB Driver (via right-click driver inf > Install), add platform-tools folder to PATH (for easy access to adb and fastboot commands), and done You now have the latest binaries and drivers from Google, and now know how to setup a basic Android SDK environment, something a toolkit wouldn't teach you
I can't find instructions on how to side load apps from OS X to my Nook Simple Touch. I rooted it using these instructions. I also installed NTGAppsAttack but it took me a while before I could log into Google and get it working. Now that it's working it doesn't seem to do much since I can't search the Google Market (probably because I can't side load apps).
First, I'm trying to install the Kindle App that I got from here. I downloaded the Android tools, but when I try to run ADB, it seems that the device isn't connected:
$ ./adb install ~/Downloads/Kindle_3.3.1.1.apk
error: device not found
- waiting for device -
I thought maybe I could load the .apk file in the Finder. There isn't enough room for me to load it onto the NookManager partition (only 8 MB free) so I put it in the My Files/Documents folder of the NOOK partition. However I can't seem to find that location using the ReLaunch app. It won't let me out of the sdcard directory.
I also tried launching ADB Konnect on the device and it tells me "Root Access Denied!"
Is it possible to install apps via SSH? I can't figure out how to get SSH running.
I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.
No idea about Macs, but for USB you will have to modify ~/.android/adb_usb.ini
Nook is not a "known" Android.
Code:
0x2080
If your root uses ADB over WiFi that would work too.
Open the program where your app package is located and it will do all the work for you. It's much better than the built in App Installer since it actually tries to install the dependencies and the certificate with the app.
It's also better than using the powershell file because you only need to double-click the .exe them everything is handled for you. No input required.
Only need to turn on sideload mode or developer mode to get the program working correctly so it's even way for people who aren't that good at using PCs.

As the title says, I'm fed up with the Google News Application. But the thing is., It is installed as a system app and I don't want that- Disable is the only option that exists for me. I've been disabling it everyday. Even I've disabled Auto-Update for that but still it ENABLES by itself and even UPDATES BY ITSELF.
I've even seeked the help of customer care but they told me to visit SERVICE CENTRE and I even did the same. When I visited the service centre, they just Hard resetted my device and I told them that I've done it more than 6 times at home. They started arguing with me thereby accusing me with bad words...
My phone is still under warranty and I don't want to lose it by installing TWRP and rooting it...
Any kind SUGGESTIONS are HEARTLY WELCOME.
Use ADB.
Download ADB from Google to your PC. (Minimal ADB did not work for me, The one from developers.google.com is the one that works for me)
After ADB, Go to settings and about phone, Tap on build number 7 times. Now you will enable developer options.
Go to deverloper options and enable USB debugging. Now connect phone and open cmd from the folder where you installed adb(Just type cmd in the address bar of the folder). Now a black window will open on your PC.
Then type adb devices on your PC. Now there will be a prompt on your phone asking allow access to the PC.
Select yes and then go to your pc and type-
Code:
adb shell
Code:
pm uninstall -k --user0 com.google.android.apps.magazines
Then press enter.
Now Google News will be uninstalled.
(I tested this, And also used this various apps, They work fine. Your OTA will not break and the apps will not come back after an system update also)
Cheers

Okay. Thank you. But it gets only HIDDEN not completely uninstalled. As of I know, I can't uninstall permanently without root access.

Nokia's drivers are the only ones you need to install.
Yes, Using this ADB method will not uninstall this app from the system rather it disables the app for you. But this disabled app will not come back unless you want it too, Not even after OTA.
