OnePlus 5 is going randomly in EDL mode - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

Hi Guys,
My 5 years old 1+ 5 is started doing a strange thing. After some random time when I try to power cycle or reboot the phone it is going into EDL mode and not possible to start it up again. No led light even when charger connected.
It happened already 5 or 6 times in a row in the last 3 weeks. Only possible to get back the device into functional mode to re-flash with MSMDownload Tool but this is re-setting my internal storage and all the data is wiped.
It is a nightmare to get back TWRP, PixelExperience (12) and all the apps installed again. Even from backup. I don't have time to do this after a reboot or power cycle. And again this is NOT happening after each and every reboot or power cycle of the phone, but at just some random time when the phone is rebooted or power cycled intentionally. The Phone is NOT rooted, I'm just using the PixelExperience custom rom. So after recovering with MSMTool to stock ROM, unlocking boot loader, re installing TWRP and PixelExperience (and all the apps) I'm using for a while. I can do reboots , power cycle for some days but after some time when it comes again to a reboot or power cycle it is again going / stuck into EDL mode.
1. Why this is happening? (maybe flash memory physical corruption?)
2. How to exit EDL mode without wiping the phone? (Vol down + Power, Vol up + Power, Vol up+down, Vol up+down + power combinations DOESN'T work).
3. How to re-flash bootloader only with MSMtool OR any other tool IN EDL MODE without wiping /system, /data, and internal storage?
4. Any other suggestion? (other than replacing the phone? )

Same issue here. Just commenting to keep it up and to see if any new data appears.

Ended up trashing the OP5 and switched to another Vendor.

Huawei P8 Lite bootloop and volume up button broken

Last week my girlfriend's Huawei P8 Lite suddenly started bootlooping. She noticed this when she picked it up from the table after not having touched it for an hour or so, so we can't be sure how it happened, but I assume the phone might have been installing an ota update and the battery died meanwhile. Can this be?
Anyway, it doesn't get any further than a bootloop now. It shows the recovery screen with the three options: 1. Reboot system now 2. Wipe data/factory reset 3: Wipe cache partition
After showing this screen for like half a minute, it reboots again, every time.
Choosing option 2 doesn't help anything; the factory reset succeeds but it just boots and loops the same way again.
When I plug the phone into my computer it gives me these options: 1. Reboot 2. Download new version and recovery 3. Shutdown.
Again for half a minute or so and bootlooping. When I choose option 2 it says 'Download and recovery', and if I do that it always get stuck at '5% installing update'. No change there either.
So I thought I'll try to locally update/fresh install by downloading the latest EMUI and putting the dload>update.app into the root of the SD card. I found on the web that you then have to boot the phone by pressing volume up+volume down+power button to install a local update, BUT unfortunately the volume up button of this phone is broken since a couple of weeks ...
Does someone have any idea how I can fix this phone? Perhaps an other way to locally install an update without the use of the volume up button?
Thanks in advance!
Is the bootloader unlocked?

Phone auto-starts at battery insert, stuck at MI logo

Hi.
My phone auto-boots when I insert the battery and then stays stuck at the mi logo till the battery is exhausted.
I tried pressing power key + combos.. to forcefully close phone or start recovery but nothing works.
I can't go into fastboot or recovery. I had a custom ROM (Lineage 14.1) before and I was trying to factory reset from TWRP when this issue occurred.
What should I do?
- I have tried using a different battery from a different working Redmi 2 phone but that didn't work.
Please help.
Model: (HM2014818)
SOLVED.
Holding the power button for some time (15 secs) with Vol down enabled me to start fastboot.
From there, just flashed recovery and done.

Power off While Stuck on Bootloop

Hello guys, been a while, but I got myself into trouble. For a while I had rooted the phone but one time I rebooted and it supposedly no longer had root. Today I got a notification that magisk updated, so I decided to try it. I booted into recovery and tried to flash. Nothing happened. I tried wiping davlik cache and tried again. What ended up happening instead was that the phone was unresponsive. I attempted to reboot, but instead I got stuck in a bootloop.
I realize the most effective way to get out of it is to flash the firmware via Odin, but since I didn't make a backup I want to avoid that if possible. The problem is that other than the soft reboot (power + volume down) I cannot power off the phone to access recovery mode! I've searched and searched, but have only found ways to soft reset, which doesn't help me access recovery mode.
Is there a way to power off the phone while stuck in a bootloop? Or, alternatively, is there a way to boot into recovery while in a bootloop?
It's so frustrating to not be able to something as simple as a battery pull since the phone is sealed. Is there a way to replicate that to be able to power it off?
Any help would be appreciated.
Hold the power button for 10 seconds.

Hold Vol down and power for soft reboot. As soon as the screen goes off to reboot quickly switch to recovery combo (bixby + up + power) it should boot to recovery

What if Vol down and power don't work, adb, fastboot and device manager don't see it, any other combinations tried too, wait for full discharge don't option. Help plz
Did you manage to get out of this?
Im really scared i bricked my phone now. Everything was working fine but after i did a normal reboot it suddenly would not start up.
Screen is black and the only way i can get a response from the phone is the soft restart (vol down + power).
I need to get into recovery somehow so i can restore my nandroid backup but vol up + bixby + power doesnt work (i assume the phone is on and frozen or something?)
I managed to fix my phone. After leaving it for 24 hours the battery was fully drained. After charging again i could boot to twrp and restore my nandroid backup.

TWRP's loading screen shows up but goes into normal boot afterwards

Hi,
I'm in the process of rooting my G6 (870H) but I've been running in an issue which doesn't seem to happen to other users.
I have followed all the steps (unlocking the bootloader etc), but when I flash the twrp img, reboot (I've tried numerous times both with fastboot reboot and simply by holding the PWR + VOL- ) and then select 2 times Yes when I run into the factory reset screen it shows me the TWRP loading screen (which I guess is normal ) but instead of going into the twrp options afterwards, the phone simply boots as it usually would.
Does anyone know anything about this issue ? I couldn't find any information about it.
I had this happen, make sure after the screen goes black after booting into twrp, leave it alone. So from bootloader Volume + Power then when LG logo pops up stop pressing power but quickly hold it down again. Then when the screen changes don't press anything until booted into twrp.
If this doesn't work, I remember when I first ran into a soft bricked device. It refused to boot into twrp even though I had rooted it. Just keep trying and one time you'll get lucky, I'm not sure why this happens, but it's just part of life, so keep at it and maybe try a different twrp.

Power off / boot into recovery with dead screen

My phone ('base' G7) had an unplanned swimming lesson yesterday (accidentally dropped into the bath, fished out within a couple of seconds of entry), and while the OS is still functional (evidenced by the alarm going off this morning!) and the hardware buttons still work (holding the power button for ~10s still forces a reboot - whereupon the OS successfully loading is marked by the alarm restarting) and I can do the volume down + power button reboot (which presumably takes it to the boot options menu, which obviously I can't see), but (a) how do I actually power the thing off (other than waiting for the battery to deplete) and (b) how can I enter recovery, so I can hook it up to my PC and backup all the data from it?
(Stock ROM, unlocked bootloader, TWRP recovery, Magisk root)
