Smasung Galaxy Tab A (2016) - Lineage - SD card and storage issues - Samsung Galaxy Tab A series Questions & Answers

Hi. I have a Samsung Galxy Tab A 10.1" (2016). I have updated the OS to Android 11 and installed TWRP and Lineage 18 or 19. I also used a somewhat minimized version of Google apps - cannot find my notes to see exactly what version. Either way, it boots up fine but then I am stuck. I more or less gave up for a bit but I really want to get this tablet operating properly. I was using it mostly for browsing - and reading books and magazines. I have a 512GB SD card in it. It seems to be running fine but I cannot add any applications at all. It shows the internal shared storage as 7.22GB used of 16GB and 122GB used of 512GB on the SD card. When I dig deeper on the SD card it says that 111GB of that is used by system and that that includes files used to run Android version 11. This seems very odd. When I try to install anything at all from the Play Store, it tells me I need to free up space but also shows "No installed apps found". I've been looking at this and trying to get this solved again and am at a dead end. Can anoyone out there please provide any insight to resolving this? I would really appreciate it. Thank you for your time.

Slow brand new Lenovo yoga plus. Flashing it may help? Advice plz.

I bought myself a new yoga plus LTE yesterday.
I've been working on the big file issue with larger files than 4gb on sdcard.
I fixed that issue by formatting the card as a internal drive and move all apps there.
The thing i dont like is that i lost all the 32GB on ghe original drive as that wont show up anymore as a usable space.
On my friends tab his internal and card got put togheter and he got one large drive containing both the card and the internal storage. (Lenovo tab 3 x50 i believe)
So my tablet seems slow, it hangs on Facebook and messenger and it disconnects wifi etc.
Its buggy...
So, i just recently had a Nvidia shield tablet and it was also slow, so i downloaded the stock rom and adb flashed it with recovery flash and it became superfast again.
I believe after updates some files gets overwritten and it causes problems.
Normal factory reset wont fix it either.
It needs reflashing..
So here is my questions.
I need stock recovery files, and then i also would like to root it so i can get to use my internal drive as internal and to have a Exfat sdcard to be recognized do i also need to know how to get there as well.
Im sure this tablet after full recovery with latest updates, a exfat support will be very nice.
I also maybe need TWRP to flash it with the files needed to get it to read exfat??
I don't wanna return it as i like it but it only needs exfat for me to be perfect.
Please help me out so i can collect all files with links and to have some tutorials of Wich to do first etc.
I will then make a good thread containing all these so we all can enjoy the best of this nice tablet that really gets killed by not recognizing exfat.
I mean i like to have 4K material and i dont wanna be limited by Lenovo beeing to poor to buy the exfat license.
Its been a Lenovo issue for many years i cant understand why they wont fix it.
My tablet is the YT-X703L
MANY THANKS ALL OF YOU BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE!!

Regarding the slow down, flashing an image won't help you there because you will end up with exactly the same system that you have now. This is due to the block based updates. We all have exactly the same system and boot partitions. The only thing you can do is a factory reset
The exfat issue is big annoyance I agree. It's only half Lenovo's fault though. Microsoft is the bad guy here since they conspired to get the exfat file system set as the default file system for large SD cards and want royalties from the OEMs. I don't want Microsoft to get a single dime for something as trivial as a new file system without any special features.
What is Lenovo's fault is giving us old kernel sources that prevent us from easily building custom kernels that include exfat. There were FUSE based solutions for older Lenovo tablets that could potentially be updated to work for us but FUSE isn't ideal since it's slower than a kernel based solution.

How to fix Samsung Galaxy On7 storage problem?

Hello, i'm new to the forums so i apologize if i shouldn't be posting this here, but i need help.
I have a Samsung Galaxy On7 with Android Marshmallow 6.0.1. I was happy with the phone and liked everything it had to offer me, except for one critical flaw that is driving me nuts: IT'S STORAGE.
I started downloading my apps so i could transfer them to my 16Gb SD card, which i happily bought for the purpose of this new phone... But little did i know that simple storaging concept changed with Android Marshmallow (before this phone i've only used Lollipop and KitKat). Apps weren't automatically being placed in the SD card. Fine, i could move them myself anyway, right? But it only transferred about 10 or 15 Mbs... Useless. My phone was struggling after installing WhatsApp and Messenger just because i couldn't move them from the phone storage, and 5 out of 8 Gbs of phone storage were occupied by bloatware. I could just root it and delete those, but i use more than 8 Gbs anyway so i considered that option meaningless.
I naturally did research on what options i had to fix this. Tutorials listed an option which "merges" your SD card and use it as internal storage. Now God knows why Samsung decided to get rid of that option, i simply don't have it.
I figured i could install a Nougat ROM but i never installed a ROM before, and the fact that i have a Samsung might mean the problem still persists after that, so maybe i could just downgrade to Lollipop and problem solved. I just need to hear from someone it's going to work before trying it myself.
If there are more options i'd be more than happy to listen to them, i'm at the point where i can't update apps anymore, while i have 16 Gigs unused...
that's the sad thing about this device. it's internal storage is not much and it got some bloatware. I just stayed on minimal user installed apps. Also moving an app to sd card is reducing the apps performance.
Actually there's a solution for the merging SD storage with Internal storage problem. Although Samsung has disabled it there's a patch here in the Forum to bypass that.
Here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/patch-adoptable-storage-enabler-t3460478
I used it on mine and worked just fine.
One more thing. I actually opted for two solutions: (1) root and uninstall bloatware and (2) apply the patch through TWRP and merge the storages.
Good luck.

I highly recommend not doing it. I have rooted my Samsung on7 (G600FY) only to use this resource but it didn't work.
I could install the patch through TWRP but there were no options on Settings -> Storage -> Format SD as Internal. Only Portable Format was available. Then, after some searches I could do it with Root Essentials App, it did the trick but still all my apps were getting installed in the internal memory (even I did migration to SD), also it kept showing Full Storage messages like before (even tough there was more than 29gb free after the "merge").
Back to 0.
So is this topic is useless? It doesnt work?
If everyone tried and it still failed, why not closing this topic?
I was having same problem with this device. But now I have fixed it!
Before storage was 97% and I have only 2 apps: Mozilla FireFox and Samsung Max VPN.
And my all other apps and games were in SD card.
But now I have 88% storage (just reduced a good amount)
Its simple just open Settings > Applications > Applications Manager
Now pick those apps which you don't use them anymore. Like Chrome, Google Photos, Samsung Internet, GDrive, etc.
Select on those app and click on 3 dot > select "Uninstall Updates".
When you do this, the app will be uninstalled and replaced by factory version of app which is lower in size.
Just do these to apps like GDrive, GPhotos because you can access them on web too.

Install app on SD Card

Hi everyone,
Hope you all are enjoying May.
As the title says I would like to install the apps on the SD card as the internet memory is only 16Gb.
“A5 2016, Android 7, Rooted, XPosed, Busybox”
Before posting here I tried a lot of things:
-To set the card as internal storage… (Fail it’s a Samsung)
-Try with adb command and “sm-partition disk” (Fail, apparently only works for the S7)
-App2SD pro (Fail No suitable external storage available)
Finally, I were to post something here when I found that post
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sa...msung-galaxy-a3-a5-a7-2017-adoptable-t3557999
Hope was coming back.
But failed again, the phone doesn’t see the card anymore and in storage only acknowledge for 16gb, plus bonus, now after flashing I got the message “Process isn’t responding” …
I would really love some help. I’m sure app2SD can do it but can’t understand why there is an error.
I’ll take anything.
Thanks for the read.
Edit: I cannot read the card (Evo+ 128, bought today...) even using an adapter and a computer...
Edit2: Was able to get the card back with Easeus.

Moving apps to SD blocked by Sammy

Hello everyone,
Month ago I brought Samusung Tab A7 2020 ( SM-T500) WIFI 32 GB ROM 3 RAM. Now i know that wasn'r best choice.
I found information in web that it new models of samsung tablet have blocked moving apps to SD card. From 32 gb 11 GB is used by system.
Firstly i tried use developer options force instal app to SD it doas't work. Next step was format SD card by
ADB shell to internal ( private ) when i do that file managers geting crush when start but option to move appered. Next problem is that only little part
of aplication can be moved for example from 5,5 GB call of duty it moves 360 MB... and when i trying put this file back tablet reset it self.
Next step was to format card split 50/50 to private ( internal ) and public (as external card ) that solve file explorer error but not problems dicribed above.
Any idea how to solve that ?
yeah i have the same problem but with samsung a 2019 s-pen, still don't know how to do next, really need more space for apps
I tried this split sd card thing as well. No luck! So my only hope is, might there be a way if I root the tablet?

Looks not so good:
new galaxy TAB A7 10.4 Cannot Move APPA to SD card as in previous models
BEWARE you cannot move any APPs over to the external SD card, I have a 64GB internal which is large. If you get a smaller internal and download may APPs you coud be out of gas with nowhere to go. Samsung claims it is a copyright problem. However how come all of a sudden its a problem when...

Maybe if rooted there is a way to move some apps to external storage
Have a look here:
[Guide][SM-T500/T505] Galaxy Tab A7 10.4 - Unlock Bootloader & Root with Magisk
I recently purchased the Galaxy Tab A7 10.4 (released in 2020) and couldn't help but notice that there's no dedicated thread in the forums for unlocking the bootloader or rooting (Although, the method should be very similar to what is followed...

This user says that it should also work on a stock unrooted device too.
