S10+ recovery using DroidKit - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

I succeeded in locking myself out of my phone. With no other option (no Google/Samsung accounts, no developer mode, etc), I am looking at using DroidKit.
The problem there is that they took my money very quickly, but I can't get any tech support response from them.
As I understand it, the point is to write as little as possible before recovery.
In theory, files can be unerased in the same way that they can in a Windows OS.
The question is this: The phone was shut down after being wiped. When I start it next, it will want to do a setup, but I'm afraid that process will overwrite data.
Should I leave it at the first screen and connect it with a cable ? Can the phone be reached on a clean start without specifically turning on developer mode ?
Should I go through the setup and then enable developer mode ?
Are there other steps I should take in order to avoid overwriting ?

[Q] I9505 Help Needed ADB

Hi, I have a S4 i9505 with a problem, screen broken and no display at all + usb debugging is disabled.
Phone: Not rooted, original software, usb debugging disabled, no display at all
What I want to achieve: restore all my photos / videos on the phone memory, no sd card
What I have attempted:
installed ADB & fastboot based on instructions from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2786395
What I need help with:
- When i try to get into recovery mode, i wasn't sure if i am indeed in there since i can't see anything, but in total there's a vibration when i turn on the phone, and another vibration when i release the power up+power+home after pressing them down for about 5 seconds.
- When in command prompt I type adb devices and there was none, and when i type adb shell it says error: device not found
I have ensured all drivers for my phone are installed (even with PdaNetA4180 & UniversalAdbDriverSetup6 from cynanogen) but the error remains. refer to attached image.
I have done extensive search on the forum but still couldn't find any ways to get usb debugging enabled on my crippled phone.
Any step by step guide would really be helpful! Thanks
Ps. Main problem = device not found in adb , usb debugging disabled, screen no display/cracked
What do you want? To recover files? To my knowledge that is not possible.
You would first need to flash a custom recovery for adb to work in recovery.
Then you would need to allow the connection on your device (which you can't do).
Yes I need to recover photos only. Nothing else.
Please kindly guide the steps on how to flash a custom recovery (w/o control of the phone's display or touch)
Thanks.
Your device is shown connected in windows
Why not use the mtp protocol and copy whatever you want
Hi, in the beginning, my phone is locked with a pattern pin.
I read the tutorials and managed to get away with the pattern pin by resetting my phone to factory settings via recovery mode i guess by watching youtube guide.
I didn't knew the photos and all will get deleted off from it, so there's nothing to transfer over when i got MTP working and able to access files inside the phone.
What do you recommend? Would fixing the screen and then using dr fone recovery works? or is there any other way to solve this without getting the phone display fixed? Thanks.
If the photos are deleted by the factory reset then i am sorry to day but you cannot recover them even if you get the screen fixed

Trying to recover photos on soft-bricked phone

Hi all,
This is my first post here, I'll try to include everything but please let me know if I am missing any info. I'm using Windows 10, my phone is using Stock ROM 6.0.1, carrier unlocked from Telus to Rogers but bootloader shows device is Locked.
TLDR: I'm trying to recover the photos from my soft-bricked phone before doing a factory reset. I've tried to manually flash the firmware with fastboot by following the steps in service.xml, but the commands all appear to return OKAY without errors but there's no change in the phone's behaviour.
More Info: I've spent the last 2 days reading up on here and elsewhere online to learn as much as I can. I am honestly not sure what caused it the soft-brick. I was using my phone normally yesterday morning when it froze while browsing Facebook, so I tried to power it down, but I got caught in a bootloop and it wouldn't go past the logo screen. It's part of my morning routine to run updates, and I often (though not yesterday) transfer files to/from the phone through a USB cable, so could it be an internal memory problem? Other possibilities, while I was careful ultimately I did download an apk for Pokemon Go before it was released in my country, and I did also download a battery saving app, so there's risks from both of those but the timing seems wrong...
I can get into bootloader and recovery mode, but not factory mode. Wiping the cache partition did not help. The only way to power the phone down is from bootloader, otherwise the phone goes straight to the logo screen.
I've installed ADB/Fastboot using the 15 Second ADB Installer here, and believe I have all of the correct drivers from the WinDroid install. However I did not enable USB Debugging before this happened, so the only way I can get ADB to see the devices is to go to "Apply update from ADB" in recovery mode, but running "adb devices" brings the phone up as sideload. If I'm in bootloader, "fastboot devices" sees it, "adb devices" comes back empty.
I used the file XT1563_LUX_RETCA-ROGERS_6.0.1_MPD24.107-52_cid14_subsidy-RGRCA_CFC.xml.zip from the File Factory folder, and it looks right according to the software version in the .xml files, but I'm still new to this and I'm not sure if my best guess is educated enough.
In general I'm not too squeamish about voiding the warranty and don't care about losing my apps, it's the photos that I really do not want to lose (shame on me for not backing those up!). I'm wondering if there's a way to get my photos back before unlocking or doing a factory reset, but if there's a reliable recovery software I can use after the fact I may have to bite the bullet.
TIA for any help.
An update. I chose to wipe user data (NOT including personalized content), the phone rebooted but is looking different from before. Which in and of itself is alright, but makes me wonder if I flashed the correct firmware...?
During the setup process, I was given the option to restore data from 3 days ago, which was when the soft-brick occurred. I chose to recover most of my apps, however I can't see any photos. I tried Recuva but it could not see anything, I'll be trying trying the Wondershare Dr. Fone Android Recovery program and hope it finds the photos.

Recover data from S8 with broken screen

Hi everyone!
I broke my S8 screen completely by dropping it (the phone is still working, not know if the touch still works).
I want to recover WhatsApp backup folder and DCIM folder (i had no backup service enabled, nor samsung account, nor google photo or gdrive), so i thought to go ahed through ADB. Anyway adb list no devices until i unlock my phone through pattern code ( i had no facial/retina/fingerprint mode set).
So i thought to proceed through download mode, flash twrp through odin and access adb through twrp. Anyway it looks like i cannot use odin to flash until i trigger on "OEM Unlock" in developer options which i can't do no more cause of the broken screen.
Is there another way to enable OEM Unlock which doesn't require touch input? Or is there any other way to recover my two folders?
A big thanks for everyone who could help
You can use an otg adapter and a mouse and try to replicate your pattern code and after your in just transfer your files. If you happen to have a second cell phone I would suggest you practise a bit on that screen first so you can replicate the exact movements to unlock your phone. Had an issue with my s6 edge and that worked like a charm.

If you don't know how to recover data from S8 phone, just use an Android data recovery software, it can help you recover data from an broken Android device, it is really simple to finsih the recovery process. And you can preview and recover the data from your broken phone, so that you don't lose these data.

Yep, that's the best thing you can do.

Log into Samsung Find my mobile. Use your Samsung Account details to log in.
There you will see alot of options that you can perform on your Galaxy S8 remotely.
Use the remotely unlock my device option to unlock your device.
Then connect your phone to the Laptop or PC using data cable and recover the data.
Hope it helps.

Factory reset has me stuck on "Checking for updates" - Can I re-flash?

Hi all,
:crying: - Looking for a way to get my Mi Note 2 back to life!
This device has never been unlocked or ROMed before (although it has been re-flashed successfully via Xiaomi's own pushed updates).
It is running MIUI 10.0.something (cannot access menus to verify exact).
The problem
----------------
I did a standard factory reset on the phone.
Once restarted, it takes you through the normal setup screens such as 'language', 'region', 'wifi network' after which I am given the option to select "copy your data from an old phone" or "set up as new", no matter which I select, my phone goes to the next screen which shows "Checking for updates". Here it stays - endlessly...
What have I tried?
----------------------
I have tried a different wifi network but it does the same.
I have also tried selecting "copy your data" instead of "set up as new" but it does the same.
Thoughts
------------
I thought I would try to install a new stock ROM to see if that would fix the issue. However, in order to unlock with the Mi bootloader unlock tool (and then use their flashing tool), apparently to do this, I need to enable something under developer options - clearly impossible when I cannot get to any android menus.
The phone *can* be re-started into the fastboot screen but does this help me at all?
On the MIUI website I noticed the following in the tips and tutorials forum: How to install a MIUI update without unlocking the bootloader: https://en.miui.com/thread-3852597-1-1.html
The above got me slightly excited before I realised that I have no way to place a ROM into the ‘downloaded_rom’ folder in the internal storage of my device (as the article instructs). Note that the reason for this (on my phone at least) is that although a Windows explorer window does open when I connect the phone to my laptop, it is empty (i.e. you cannot see any files/folders in it). BTW - I know what causes that specific issue as that bug was present in the device ages ago - basically, the phone seems to default to be in USB charge mode and in order to see the folders in Windows Explorer, you have to go into developer options and manually change the USB mode and then change it back to MTP mode. Once that is done, you can see the files/folder structures. However, I cannot get to any developer options as I cannot get to Settings at all.
What can I do?
------------------
So my burning question is this: How can I re-ROM this theoretically 'working' device, given the above constraints?
Is there any way to do anything while the phone is in the fastboot mode perhaps?
Is there some method maybe used to recover a bricked device that I could employ here?
Thank you for any help offered!
Cheers!

MDM Locked Galaxy Tab A

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2020, SN-T307U) that I got from work. It's an old Doordash tablet that Doordash didn't want back, so I'm trying to reset it and it's driving me crazy. I have followed so many tutorials trying to get this thing to work, I keep getting caught on something.
- Simply factory resetting does not work, gives an error that MDM does not allow it.
- I cannot put in the wrong password 15 times to factory reset, even though I get a warning it just lets me continue trying after 15 fails.
- I cannot enter the bootloader, rebooting to bootloader just reboots to the OS.
- I cannot enter safemode, same as above.
- I cannot enable developer options, so no OEM unlock or USB debugging. Tapping build number gives me an error that the MDM does not allow this option.
The device is recognized by Odin, can I just brick this thing and repartition from scratch? Can someone who knows what they're talking about walk me through that? I'm not really sure what I'm doing here, learning as I go over these last 2 days.
Hello,
I have the same exact same issue, have you been able to unlock it?
Thank you!
I can fix it remotely the last hope
Same Issue here,
Any one had any luck with MDM T307U. Please assist.

If you look at all of the previous post, it should tell you that no one has found a way to disable an MDM lock. Which is as it should be. Otherwise the lock would be useless.

That's not true as of today's date. (In the event this post is viewed after this exploit can be successful).
I am not taking credit and perhaps the op has discovered it. Anyway...
I am in Canada and noticed the carriers here stop at BL 8 while the USA has BL 9.
The unit i had was on BL 9 (csc TMB).
This probably works for Canadians on BL 8. I don't recommend flashing to BL 9 as that may affect your service or experience.
ANYWAY! This guide won't explain any prerequisites. They are adb, installing unsigned drivers, and you aren't able to use the device and are the owner
1) if not already, power off device with vol down+power and ensure battery is at least 50%.
2) enter recovery and factory reset. If you're having difficulty entering recovery, plug into your pc and as soon as you hear the audible disconnect, switch to vol up+power. Or jam on all three buttons for dl mode.
If in dl mode you can check firmware version and just flash it with bl, ap, cp and csc (NOT home csc). Use exact current version. Don't worry about userdata if it is USA
3) at welcome, connect wifi and imnediately go back to first screen. Don't use data sim
4) dl samfw app and on misc tab, check driver status and your pc will reboot.
*you must not have secure boot enabled
5) plug phone into pc. In the app, mtp and select youtube. If done right, click the pop up on your phone and navigate to chrome. Should be automatic.
6) search for vnrom frp. Once there download package disabler pro and notification app. They are side by side. Install notification app and set it up so you can swipe quick settings from top of screen.
5) unplug your phone from pc and plug it back in. Should be able to get back to the package app various ways to install it. Before install, turn wifi off. Now run package disabler and when it prompts for device admin, turn wifi on. It'll glitch a bit but should start.
6) locate samsung setup wizard. Don't confuse with the other. It'll have a green icon. Disable it and clear the storage. At bottom left, tap the back arrow and you should be back at final setup.
7) when asked to add samsung account, turn off wifi. Complete setup and don't add any accounts.
8) you should arrive at home screen. Your phone is re-plugged right? Good. Now turn on usb debugging and use the remove knox from the app. Done.
*i think i turned wifi on just before enabling debugging. I forget.
*if you are sloppy... you'll need to start over. You'll see, or already know
*you can do ota (if there still is any) but factory resetting or odin flashing will put you back to managed.

This method works up to step 7 for me. I can't seem to enable usb debugging before knox kicks in. With or without wifi. I'm experimenting to see if I can get past that step.
How to Remove MDM Control from Android? For anyone suffering from this issue, the following are the steps to bypass Samsung Knox factory reset protection:
First of all, create a password for the device.
Make sure that your device is charged to an 80% or greater charge.
Next, you’ll need to go to Settings and Security Encrypt Device tabs respectively.
Set a PIN/password for your device.
After you have secured your device and it’s gone through. Reboot the device, and when it boots, it will ask you to enter a password in order to access your device to view encrypted data. If you type the wrong password 15-20 times (it depends on your device), it’ll wipe your device of any information and will restart and then appear like you’re registering as a brand new device after a factory reset.
Thats the 2th!!! Try it
