Hi, I'm kinda new to rooting and haven't updated my phone in a long time and kinda forgot a bit of the rooting stuff.. Rn it's on 11.0.11.11.IN11BA, but I want to update to IN2023_11_F.13.
Firstly, should I do it because I heard that the newer versions are kinda ****.
And 2nd, can I safely skip all the updates in between and install it via Oxygen Updater, then with magisk and the ''After OTA'' method?
Or is there something else I need to know?

Hey guys
for some time i will be using a huawei p8 lite, i unlocked bootloder, rooted it with magisk and wanted to flash some rom - for example lineage as i see it's quite stable and available (and of course i want android 7 )
it's my first time with huawei and i must say i dont understand one thing. my phone's firmware is b584 (ALE-21C09B584), its double sim.
i have emui 4.0.3 so i wanted to upgrade to be able to install lineage os(which needs 4.1)
so i enter the "updater" in settings and try to do it, but it says that there are no available updates... before checking xda i thought its just the newest firmware but when i saw that there are new coming out every month or so....
i was looking at huawei's site but the only fw i can find are from 2015, lol
why cant i install it? does it mean that i cant have emui 4.1 on my phone? where does huawei post all these updates? can i find them on their site?
i got the "Firmware finder" app and it does find some updates, newest is B586 - but when i check in app if its available for my device - it says its not... the previous one is mine - B584
can i install this b586? does it contain emui 4.1? is it safe to install update which is not "confirmed" for my phone?
next one, should i install OTA or full OTA? (coming from b584)
if i cant install it or get 4.1, can i flash persona's mod over it? https://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/mod-c432b612emuipersona78-t3689367
there a link to C432B632 in this thread, won't it brick my phone?
im a little afraid to install it(it's a borrowed phone and i got permission to do what i want, but not to brick it )
do i have to make a full backup? it says that no data will be deleted
i had a nexus 5 before and everything was really more simple with that phone x.x with huawei it seems all messed up, why do they make updates if users cant install it?
thanks in advance for replies and help
EDIT: lol i though its going to be shorter, so
TL;DR - i want to get EMUI 4.1 to be able to install lineage os, im now on B584, cant update it via settings, "firmware finder" app says that b586 is not "confirmed" for my device
what to do?
I just got an S8, on Oreo, may security patch and before I try to install TWRP I want to make sure samsung didn't change anything important in their latest update that would cause issues (baseband version is CRE3)(I think that's right information)
Both guides are easy to follow, but I just want to make sure Samsung didn't change anything in their latest update that would cause me to brick my phone
This one seems most promising as it is titled post Oreo, but that was back in March when it was updated last
The other one, much bigger thread, but hasn't had any updates since August, but it is still kind of active
Thanks
Hey guys - maybe you saw my other thread nougat vs. oreo - but i guess i just have to try it...
But will I be able to downgrade after I did upgrade? My new Mi A1 is still on nougat from december 2017 and I wanna start to mod it.. but since downgrades are often prevented I wanna make sure if its possible or not first. (aka to wait to be sure to update or just do it and downgrade later if it turns out i rather take the older android version - because of moddability reasons..)?

Downgrading is possible by using MiFlashTool. Look around the xda thread for guides. You'll need to download the respective fastboot roms. And be careful if you want to mod your phone, try not to update your phone pass stock May update. Xiaomi made few changes that if you were to unlock your bootloader in May update, your device will be wiped.
Hello guys, some time after i bought the phone i rooted It and i keep updating It for like a year but since it must be a manual procedure after a while i just stopped. Now i need to install a bank app who require to have the phone unrooted. I know there's a thread about how to unroot the phone but i'm in an old OS, Oreo 8.1.0, oxygen 5.1.1.. What i suppose to do?Should i update it first to the last oxygen first? Should i do that step by step, and if yes where can i find all the files? Or maybe should i just unroot now and then the download the ota? I have no clue, and i'm very rusty on modding, i need some help :crying:
Good day everyone. I have a T-Mobile branded 6T - well 2 of them actually, a daily driver, and a game phone. The daily driver needs to be udpated, so I can update the game phone first to make sure it will work before moving to the daily driver. Problem is, I'm rooted with magisk, TWRP as recovery, so OTA doesn't work, and apparently hiding magisk with "keep TWRP" module doesn't work, because OTA is still not loading properly, so I would like to re-flash the whole thing if necessary so it's up to date. I've read many things about this, but I can't seem to find something that fits my situation and makes me comfortable doing it, so thought I'd ask here. What would be the safest method to upgrade to the latest OxygenOS?
* I'm familiar with flashing and rooting this device, so don't care if I lose that
* Losing data would suck, but willing to do so if the procedure is easier that way
* My phones are branded, willing to switch to global if easier
I just want the darn things updated since they're close to a year out of date with upgrades and patches. Please direct me to the best procedure for my current situation, and thank you.
Well OnePlus isn't making any more updates for it. If you want it to be updated I suggest using one of the newer custom roms.
Right, I knew it would not be updated to the absolute latest I just need it to be updated to the point where my carrier will stop telling me that I could lose service. So for now I decided to take the global route. I unbranded the phone with the patch kit found in a thread here, and then used the OnePlus updater app which brought me as current as it could which I believe is November 2021. It's Android 11 and that will do me for the time being. Thank you for the response. I will probably look for other ROMs later
