New to 3D printing, and try to keep up with what is what.
Creality Sonic Pad looks likes a fun thing to have....why not
Purchased one at what i feel was a Good price,

Sonic Pad seems fine but the Printer
As soon as I plugged in the USB cable we had smoke and Sparks and the printer shut down
Luckily the Pad was not plugged in....just the cable....
After a bit the printer returned, as I was doing the Pad update it was dormat
Ok lets try another USB cable...same deal Sparks and Smoke, a quick pull saved it again and another reboot
WTF is this all about, after doing some Googling, this is a thing, the USB port can be a POS and cause issues
Luckliy the printer rebooted and still works,
Luckily the Sonic pad was not Plugged into cable at the time or it would have gone POOF.
No mention anywear that the USB port can be a problem
This is the first time an attempt to use the USB Port.
So beware Punters
USB is Evil on the Ender S1, well mine is lots of stuff to be found Google after teh fact is you friend.
After seeing and helping where I could with people with the sonic pads. It's not the printer at all its the pad. My ender 3 s1 plus and pros have been running non stop via usb from a couple old repurposed laptops with Linux. Running klipper firmware all the sonic pad does. Creality makes them worse daily and haven't seen pics of anything nice coming from them lately. If it could be unlocked to get rid of what Creality has on them and left with only klipper it would be a device worth having.
Finnaly received the new Replacement board from Creality,
Look like there was a Short on the 5v line that would cause the unit pop and crackle with a tad of smoke
Inspection found the the Installed creality light had wire hairs that were shorting out and caused all the ruckass.
I am only a Hobby type user, one or two prints a week, for me I find the Sonic pad ok and prints ok for my needs. I think they realise they need to unlcok the Pad to make it more usable early days.
We can hope they see the light soon. but as you say an old Lapptop or similar running Klipper you can save a few bucks for sure.
Ya I hope to see things getting better for the sonic pad just seems every update or power to printers people have more and more happen new one for the last few days is extruder missing but still in the cfg file so gotta mess around and work around it

Got myself a new Transformer. Unboxed. Looks gorgeous, but wait... the two bits that make up the wall charger don't seem to, you know, slot in? It's very loose, and when plugged in doesn't do squat all. No charge. Am I being an idiot and not fitting one piece to the other right, or do I go back to the shop to get a replacement? :/
It snaps together, and when I got mine it was a pretty snug fit. So you may have to apply a little force, but it does snap together.
Right, the problem is that however much force I apply, the thing doesn't want to snap in. I've been googling like mad to see if anyone else has this problem and did find this one chap with the same trouble; he ended up having to ask the shop to swap it.
When I got mine it was already together
I had to press with what I would deem as an 'unreasonable' amount of force to get them to snap together. Just FYI.
Lucky you. Sigh.
I've even tried to charge with my Samsung Tab's wall adapter. No goddamn luck. Fail, ASUS, fail.

Can you take a pic?
I was going to upload the pics, but I followed advice given in another thread and--using enough force I thought I was about to break them--bent the prongs outward. Voila: it now snaps in and charges. Still a bit of a fail on ASUS for not shipping the two pieces already joined, or better yet make the wall adapter a one-piece affair. Ah well!
This happens to everyone. You really need to FORCE it. There's no particular technique that worked for me, just slide and apply a lot of pressure...you only need to do it once, thankfully.
yeah the amount of force required to put that thing together is insane. after about 5 minutes i grabbed something heavy and just started pounding the thing to death with it until it clicked in lol
That is the one area of the transformer that has disappointed me so far, the charging systems. I didn't understand why the unit wasn't assembled in the box... why I can't charge via usb...and why the cable is so short.
Other than those gripes, I love this thing!!

The Samsung Galaxy Tab's cable is also stupidly short. A trend, I guess?
Mine took some force but it wasnt like i had to stand on a table to make it work.

I could see pre-joined but not a one piece affair. I like that its modular because that means you could get plug adapters that could make it fit any country you move to. This is how it should be with mobile devices.

Apparently so is the Iconia's cable. Very strange, as if they expect us to build a little charging stand next to an outlet just for these Android tablets. Somewhat easily solved with a USB 3.0 extension cable, but it's an ugly solution (at least for me, my extension is blue).
not assembled because it's modular and different countries have different adapters. They are wrapped separately and the only variable in the box.
Also, the oem ipad adapter should provide plenty of oomph to charge and comes with a long cord from outlet to charging unit. Again, not as nice and neat as a normal two piece charger and cable, but neither as the add one. Plus, the apple one is modular too and can take a regular one piece like the one on the asus if you don't need the extension cable or if someone comes out with a longer stock cable.
Weird, mine came already assembled from Best Buy.
I do remember my GTablet came with the adapter apart, but that was easy to put together.
Hell I didn't even know it was in 2 peices, got mine yesterday from Newegg and it was already together. Yes the cable length is a joke but I heard about that earlier this week and ordered a 6 ft USB3 cable extension from monoprice for like $4 and it got here today and using it now to charge mine and it's working fine, highly recommended!
Yeah mine was pre-assembled, got mine Monday of this week (and it was brand new stock). Maybe they're doing that on the newer units. I have no idea how I'd ever get it apart if I needed to, I tried and the two pieces are very tightly attached.
The cable... yes the cable is crazy-short. So if you want to use a USB extension, it has to be a USB 3.0 one?
My Micro USB port seems to have a wiggle to it. I can't tell if it was like this when I first got the phone or if it's become worse overtime. Essentially when I plug in a Micro USB cable plugged into the port there seems to be excessive play from side-to-side. This excessive play doesn’t occur when pressure is applied up-and-down only when pressing from side-to-side. My Galaxy S2 does not have this wiggle and cables fit tightly. I'm concerned with long-term durability as I don’t want port to fail once I’m out of warranty. I feel silly calling Google and asking for a replacement if this is something that is normal. As I stated, the play seems excessive when compared to my Galaxy S2, but I have no other basis of comparison. My phone works brilliantly other than this very small issue. Does your micro USB port have some slack or is it tight?
Mine has some very minor movement, nothing that really concerns me much. If it really bothers you, I noticed that the official bumper case (when I had it) seemed to help stabilize things a little bit, so you could give that a try, though YMMV.
you could buy a wireless charging pad and make use of the Nexus 4's features. I too concern myself with long term plugging + unplugging will caus wobble side to side in the usb cable.
My GNexus had a slight wiggle, or formed one after 2 months usage.
I plan on buying a Qi wireless charging pad next week to not have this happen. Nexus 4 is my long term phone, a promise to myself lol.
Mine has a tiny bit of movement. But like the guy above me said, I plan on keeping this phone for quite some time so I got a wireless charging pad so I wouldn't put much stress on the port. Plus it's a really neat feature and everybody who sees it gets a kick out of it.

I have seen a few post showing that people are noticing their power port on the phone is loose or wiggles, can those of you with an S4 check to see if this is the case or is the connecting good?

Mine wiggles. I even took it to the store and the demo ones all did it. Funny thing is, it only seems severe with the white cable the phone came with. I have a black micro and it seems very snug. I just might use that.
The white one, when plugged in wiggles back and fourth and up and down. The port itself is a tad loose but when 4 of the demo ones at the store wiggled I had a piece of mind.
It's normal. Some people won't even notice it and will say theirs is fine, when in reality it does wiggle. Charges perfectly fine.
also remember there are clips on the cable itself, those start to loose their 'tightness' as well and can be responsible for the loose feeling. I've recently purchased some monoprice cables and fit very sung, but in about a year or so, this port will loosen up, which is hands down one of the biggest adv over the one, we can replace this port when it does go.

But this is a NEW device how can it already become loose.
my point was simply that it's not always the port, it often times can be the cables. if you have a brand new cable and port, i would expect it to be tight, but if the cable is not known/designed to be tight, it might not be the port. I'm using brand new monoprice cales, not the supplied white one, and i'm finding that while there is a little leeway in the base of the connection (which is a good thing) the cable is well secured in the port, meaning it's strength to pull it out/push it in, that should be your judge of port connection, not the wabble in the base. The wobble in the base is actually a good thing, it's not frequent your phone is on a flat surface while charging, and often times the cord is pulling off the side of a table or counter top, this creates pressure in the port. if you've taken physics you understand the concept of levels and mechanical advantage. by giving it a bit of leeway, it lowers the point of lever, and creating less stress on the internals of the port compared to one that has a very snug fit. the only time i would be concerned about the loose port is when it's becoming easier to pull it in/take it out (like throwing a hot dog down a bowling alley

I swear for as smart.and.as great as this phone is, the easiest things to fix which pose the biggest.problems arent.fixed. Having the phone plugged.in.while using.it in landscape creates huge stress.on the port. So much that the cable gets looser as the pins are bent. Stupid samsung with their.idiotic location for.ports, but I.digress... has anyone found a longterm fix for this? . I thinking like a plastic moount that clips.to.
The bottom of the phone and.encases the beginning of the charger cable to prevent any stress in any direction? My temporary solution is I rubberband the beginning of the cable in a few loops as if I have it zip tied. This prevents any minor tugging from directly pulling the port.
First of all new USB 3 port cost about $14 and could be replaced by user in about 30 min even if you don't have 1 yr warranty. You can use any USB 2 wire to charge Note 3, some are much thinner and more flexible, than the factory cable. And with at least 6 hours screen time I can't imagine running out of power before night, when I put it on charger and go to sleep, but I do have full time job and little kids so actually never had a chance to use it for 6 hrs in 1 day anyhow. Maybe you need bigger battery and if you don't like Samsung design maybe another phone, I don't see anything wrong with it, otherwise would not buy it, heard Apple is a popular brand, but never actually used it.

I hate giving a reply that doesn't really help the OP, but I can somewhat sorta agree with this comment. Sorta.
Because I got the Note 3 now but haven't broken its port yet.
However I did have the Note 2 and the Galaxy S2 and there was that issue if you're careless. Sloppy plugging and stress, sometimes a few drops of water falling on the port too and shorting it, etc. Anyway, I'm very unskilled and clumsy regarding basic electronics repairs but still managed to replace the USB board on the S2 with Ebay parts. It was less than 20 USD, the board and a kit of screwdrivers. It really is very easy to replace that part if you damage the USB port (getting the infamous "charging / not charging intermittent warnings, even when the phones are not connected to anything).
I seriously doubt the N2 or N3 are much more complex. (I used repair videos on YouTube for the S2, I'm sure they will pop up for the N3 if relevant)
Not so with other components (Screen, for instance). So take some care with it and don't worry too much because even home-repair is fairly accessible and cheap in that case.
Okay let me paint you a picture..I play aot of poker. there is an outlet under the table so I have my phone plugged in sitting on the rail behind my chips as I either watch 24/7 movies or play games.but since my phone is horizontal, naturally gravity works its magic and puts pressure on the port. not only that, but the less slack I have the more pressure is applied.
so as you can see my circumstances are very specific to my regular usage of this device. hence I utilize rubber bands.sometimes.
If you guys are really concerned about the usb port on the phone being damaged, maybe something like the qi wireless charger can help.
Or maybe buying a spare battery.
Or buy a right angled usb cable

I got a good deal on a refurbished Tegra Note 7 so I quickly snagged it as I wanted a tablet for media consumption, some browsing + gaming! Now I've read all the reviews and came across the infamous ultra flimsy micro-usb port. I'm hoping that the tablet was refurbished because of a faulty port and they put in an awesome one! Anyway, do you guys have any suggestions for me so that I don't break the port like using a particular charger, any specific way to charge it(Wireless Charging without any soldering or other method that requires skills with tools?) or anything, really. Also, in case it does break, I'm guessing inevitably it will, has anyone found a convenient way except sending it to the respective manufacturers?
I just recently got a used one off eBay. The cord that came with it was a very tight fit and I could see how that would eventually break the port. Fortunately my samsung cord slips on the port very easily. And since it's white I marked the top of the cord with black magic marker so I never put it in wrong. So far it's working out great.
There's not much else to do but be extremely careful or go buy a Micro USB Type A cable. The whole problem with the port is that they used the wrong one.

I never even knew there were two types of Micro USB connectors until I got this thing. I never bothered to get the right cable (and Nvidia didn't bother including the right one... did they even know there were two types?), and thanks to a minor fall while plugged in, I have to plug my cable in slightly crooked to get it to charge right. If I plug it straight in, it will show it's charging but actually drain the battery even if the stupid thing is off!
