Question Nothing OS For Android13 What is suitable for coming? - Nothing Phone 1

Excuse me, do you have any news?

NothingOS for Android13. Haven;t understood beyond that.
If you mean, news about A13 NOS, it might come into Beta Testing in a month or two now. Depending on their Q1'23 Timeline.

I don't speak English very well. I'm sorry

There will probably not be a release by the end of this year.

We basically know nothing.
The only thing we know is that A13 is NOT important for Nothing.
There are no really important changes to A13 IMO.
And if you look at stock A12 vs Nothing A12 you can see what nothing is going to add to stock A13 - "nothing".
Which is totall fine IMO.
I dont expect any a13 related before march.

totally fine. it's like everybody else said, nothing official except for the Q1'23 tag.
btw, you can try PA(A13) if you are okay with all the process involved

look. this 1.1.6 is so smooth that i am looking forward to every incremental update much more than a13 at the moment.
i just want one-handed mode a la pixel because the device is a bit too big and further camera improvements and this by all means will turn out to be one heck of a stable device.

OP2 certainly is compatible with Marshmallow , you can already see many MM based ROMs :what::what:

But I guess you're not a newbie to android. Anyway. It's compatible. OnePlus said the release will be in Q1. So it should be there before March.
I don't know what takes them so long. Their OS is almost all stock android except for few customisations.

drivers, optimizations, bug testing, security, enhancements, adding skins also Google certification!
Yeah exactly. OOS is near stock. Moto g3 is running MM but we're still waiting :/ and should probably wait till the last day of the Q1. Or probably they'll miss even that date and come up with an apology letter like they always do :/

I am pretty sure drivers are written usually by the hardware makers, so that'd be Qualcomm for the SoC or whoever made the fingerprint sensor, camera, other sensors etc. Skins - I ain't seen much skinning by OPO except for changing the dark mode and colour of stuff when in dark mode. Security - this is why they need to release latest android, because google is fixing 100's of issues.
Anyway I am shocked that even the slow manufacturers like LG have upped their game and have 6.0 and Samsung has leaked theirs too. I usually wouldn't care but custom ROMs not that attractive without Fingerprint sensor and Laser AF.

I wont agree. If you see AOSPA are the first custom rom which adds not only new features but improves core stuff as well. The camera and new post processing algorithm for example is better than OOS which is a huge step also the color engine though in its infancy is very good and is building on top of OOS theme engine. They have also fixed the voice call drain using custom firmware. So there are things they have done right and improved stuff. So I guess AOSPA has started right. If they can just continue making solid improvements its would be a fantastic idea.

OOS color theme is just enough for me,
Voice call is fixed in today's beta 8,
Dunno about camera we need more proof and test...
Anyway,i was a big fun of AOSPA in the past so let's wait and see, maybe i'll give it a try when OnePlus drop support for the 3T(if they don't drop the support and die again)

Improved camera quality is a big boast. I don't think they'd do it if they couldn't back it up. It's been sitting on my internal storage waiting to be flashed. I think I'm going to back up tonight and flash my first custom rom tomorrow. That's really and truly a testament to OxygenOS as well as Paranoid Android.
Is it true that Android O would have native substratum theme enabled, thereby negating the need for rooting the phone? Can someone confirm?

Yes let's hope so. My intentions was to know whether this would be available on stock rom's or just custom rom's. I think Oxygen OS is above par as compared to the best smartphones out there when it comes to stock rom so this would be a stellar addition as and when it happens, or lets say if it happens.

Question: what happens if you hide the navigation bar? I mean, how did they replace Back - Home - Recent buttons?
Aaand: is there a dark theme built-in by chance?

I use to be a "gotta have it now" and would flash pretty much any rom that came along, when I had the Dell Streak 5, and the Galaxy Note (1). Since I got the Mate 2, then the 8, then the 9, I haven't flashed anything but OEM official builds, haven't even bothered to root or screw with it.
For me, my experience with Huawei, their roms have been so stable, I haven't had the urge to jack around with it. I don't mind you guys doing it though, makes it easier for us old timers that don't want to bother with it anymore.

Me too. There really isn't anything else for the Mate if you wanted to flash at least officially or on here. But yeah, I can't really think of anything I want that it doesn't already have. Nothing I could really improve. I thought I was all 100% for the Pixel 2 but now I'm thinking Mate 10!

Of course, everything I want but even faster and longer lasting. Less body to screen ratio is always welcome too. Tmobile's new 600 mhz support would also be great.

I would like to get a current Security patch though

Hi mate,
What is the kernel number, is it still 4.1.18 or it got up to 4.4?
Do you actually feel any real life difference in general at all between Nougat and Oreo?
Do you think that stand up time/drain has improved as to the few wake ups restrictions in Oreo?
Anything significant that you like/hate or is changed?
Thank you for your reporting here!

The kernel version is showing as 3.10.20-20436-468, built on Sep 14. Security patch is September 5. Whether or not it's reported correctly, I don't know.
I'm not really using it as a daily driver, but it does feel a little bit different. Some of it may be because of Android O, some of it may be because of EMUI 6. It seems smoother, but that's so objective.
Drain seems better than before, but I haven't done an actual scientific comparison.
I've not yet found anything major to like or hate.
Some other people are installing this build now, so hopefully they will chime in with their opinions.

[EDIT: too good to be true] Android 8 update seems to be out officially

As long as it's not a very well made scam it seems Motorola just made official that the Android 8 update is ready: https://mobilesupport.lenovo.com/us/en/Solution/MS126318. I can't verify it since it always takes a bit till everyone gets the OTA, but the website seems to be the official one.
Has anyone received it yet and can shed some light on it like have they finally made it 64 bit (I know, good joke) or if they finally have a working F2FS implementation so Magisk can be installed without some workaround?
And how is battery life looking? I mean it's already great but was Google able to make it even better?
EDIT: was too good to be true. They just removed that website. They really know how to hold the tension
that's good news. i only hope they didn't mess up the battery...i'm waiting a bit to do the update to make sure they didn't ruin it

I don't care if someone has "different information" that can't be discussed.

Since this isn't stock Android we are using, should I expect something major?

Not really. I have been using the beta for a few weeks (it's very much useable as a daily driver) and it's... MIUI shrug. Feels a little smoother for me. But all the big changes 10 brought, well, not much left of them. The Gesture Nav is there but I don't use it because I'm just too used to my three buttons. Dark Mode is there but it's not very mature IMHO since it also 'colors' websites for me and makes the notification bar invisible on certain occassions.
In short, I'm not sure if I could tell the difference immediately if you gave me a 9T with 9 and one with 10. So nothing to be nervous about - it'll come when it comes.
