Hello guys,
I am using TS10 (Model with eight cores and 8 GB RAM), everything was working fine, but a problem appeared a few days ago.
There is no sound from any Navigation app (alerts, route directions, etc.).
The music is getting volume gets low when the Navigation app is trying to reproduce a sound, and after that, it gets to the average level as it should be, and this way was working fine.
However, the problem is that there is no sound from the navigation app.
Is there a way to fix that?
The model that I am using: (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000575734624.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.0.0.8b0118029doI2H)

Hi,
So the problem is in Settings > Navigation app.
When I select an app that should be used for Navigation as default, the app I choose has no sound.
I tried Waze and Google Maps, and iGO:
When I select Waze as a default navigation application - Google Maps have sound and works great.
The opposite is when I select Google Maps as a default navigation application - Waze has sound and works great.
For a test, I tried to select YouTube as a Navigation, and it also had no sound when I opened it.
So the problem is the default navigation app in Settings.
Is there a way to fix that?
Thank you!

Hey, this usually happens when you try to open the app directly from it's icon
You should have a navigation icon that will redirect you to WAZE , and then it will work with sound

Unfortunately, no.
When I set a default app for navigation, it opens as you say from the Navi icon, but there is no sound.

You should look into the settings. Somewhere should be a setting to set the volume of the navigation.

I completely understand you, however the volume of Navi is set to max.
It was working fine a week ago, but something changed, maybe a bug.
Try writing in waze search ##@resetapp
Here is a video demonstration of the problem - setting different apps as a default Navi app, and they lost their sound also.
My seller suggested restoring the factory settings, and when I did that, the problem was solved for around 30 minutes.
After that, it appeared again.
I've got similar problem. Have you tried update firmware? You don't have newest possible. There is FW from November
I use OSMand in mine. I had no sound at all, but I noticed an error message "cannot initialise Speech". This lead me to go into Google Play and install the Google-tts service for my language. Since then, I have announcements. In fact I had so many announcements I had to disable most of them so I could hear the music.

Yes, I am using the latest TS10 update. It is interesting that after a factory reset, it worked for around 20-30 mins, and then it bugged again.

I found answer that works. At least for me.
Go to Android settings -> Apps and notifications -> Advanced -> Apps with special permissions -> Access to notifications -> Uncheck "Google" option.
For some reason that service has broken notification chanel in Android sound output

For 90% after reinstalling Google the problem will not return. That permission checkbox is checked by the user, by default it is unchecked

Interesting.
One another attempt to access to "Access to notifications" menu:
1. Install Google
2. Install "Heads - up notifications" and open it:
Heads-up Notifications - Apps on Google Play
Get the new heads-up notifications from Android Lollipop on any device!
play.google.com
3. Click green button "Turn on/off notifications"
4. It should open lost menu where you will be able uncheck "Google" option.
5. Uninstall "Heads-up notifications" app, you don't need it anymore

This quick tutorial will allow you to use an NFC tag to wake up your phone and launch directly into your favorite application. It will also bypass any PIN/pattern/password you have configured.
I've been trying to do this for a while and have been hunting down information/tools in XDA to try to unlock my pattern protected Note 2 and directly launch my remote app (Unified Remote) when I touch the NFC tag on the living room coffee table. The biggest challenge was to find a NFC screen-off mod that worked for the Note 2 (most were for the S3).
Tools:
Tasker (important: make sure you update to the latest version)
NFC Task Launcher
Writable NFC tags
Secure Settings (be sure to enable Device Admin)
NFC Screen Off Mod (attached), got it from here. Confirmed working for stock LJ1 and LJ3 odex rooted. WARNING: This mod might work on stock 4.1.2 but will cause annoying popups saying 'NFC Service has been stopped'.
Root (but I'm guessing if you have any of the above you're already rooted)
(optional but recommended) Titanium Backup
(optional) Unified Remote
1. Use TB to make a backup of your NFC Service apk (in case you get issues after flashing the modded one)
2. Flash the attached NFC Screen Off Mod using CMW
3. Create a task (Wake) in Tasker with the following actions:
EDIT: Make sure Tasker has 'enabled external access' option switched on in settings (Thanks SenK9)
Plugins -> Secure Settings -> Wake Device -> Screen and Keyboard lights on (30 sec or whatever you want)
Plugins -> Secure Settings -> Keyguard -> Off (this will also disable any PIN/pattern/password you have)
(optional) Misc -> Say -> "Device is awake" (or whatever you want it to say)

}
4. Prepare a writeable tag in NFC Task Launcher with the following actions:
Tasker -> Tasker Task -> Wake (or the name of your task)
(optional) Launch application -> Unified Remote (can also place this in your Task but I prefer to keep them separate since I use my task for other things as well)
[Add whatever you want to do here (launch app, play music, etc..)]
Note: Keyguard disable didn't work for me at first, so you may need to reboot your phone.
That's it! Hope this helped someone
Let me know if this works for you and if you have any recommendations or improvements I'd be happy to update the post with your suggestions.
Good work gabster21! Work well for me on stock LJ3. Followed your instructions and it worked without problem. Much better than the Samsung TecTiles app that I've been using.
Glad to hear it worked!
On a similar note I just finished automating my phone to start my favorite playlist on my HTPC using NFC with the screen off. It involves EventGhost (with several plugins) and sending an http get command from Tasker. I can post a tutorial on that if people are interested.
Can confirm that this mod works on N7105 (deodex LJ4), thanks!
Any idea why step 3 above only unlocks the screen temporarily before it locks again? I'm using standard pattern lock.

Strange.. Keyguard Unlock didn't work for me at first either but a reboot fixed the issue. Try adding something to the task (like some sound) for debugging to see if the task is executing properly.
I personally use tasker without nfc. (probably will try nfc soon) For instance, when I get in my car and plug my phone in my aux, the phone automatically opens up Poweramp. (power amp has an option to continue playing on aux insert but not just opening the program.) Also when poweramp is running I have it disable my pattern lock.
Hey guys, just getting into some of this stuff, particularly with tasker.
Boodies, can someone conceivably set up the tasker so that the NFC tag is on the back of the cardock for my Note II and when my phone comes into contact it arms GPS and pops up poweramp as part of the same action?

You would to have 'Secure Setfings' installed (with Helper) need to setups a task with these actions:
-> Plugins -> Secure Settings -> GPS -> ON
-> App -> Launch -> Poweramp
Then call this task from NFC task launcher programmed in a tag

I bought a gear recently and was sad to see a lack of apps tailored specifically for it so I made one of my own!
Sprocket
Features:
Native SMS/MMS functionality.
View/Send SMS conversations
View MMS
File Transfer
Send a file from the phone and it will automatically be saved in Internal Storage in the GalaxySMS directory and opened on the Gear from the default handling app
.
Remote Application Install
Allows you to install apps on the gear that are installed on your phone.
*Note does not work for paid apps it seems. At least on my Moto X.
Installation
Install the apk on both the phone and the gear and you will be good to go. The application will be automatically run on startup, but needs to be started initially once first installed on both the phone and gear.
Its a good idea to have bluetooth already turned on when initially starting the app.
Install on Phone first, select device
Install on gear next, select device
Support
This app was written specifically on my Moto X so there may or may not be issues with other phones. Please send me a logcat and I'll see what I can do.
Update 7.29.2014

Hello everyone!
I've been working many hours on this release and have made several improvements.
ChangeLog
Better App Stability
System runs in the foreground now so it is less likely to be killed
Improved Connection Speeds
Increased buffer size to allow faster transfers
New Notifications For Texts
This is the one I'm most excited about. I took some inspiration from the new Android Wear Watches to create custom notifications for our beloved gear.
Installation
Install the update on both the Gear and the Phone. If you already have sprocket installed on your gear you can update it with the new version v1.1 attached to the first post using Remote Install. To enable notifications click "Enable SMS Notifications" on the Phone version and follow the prompts.
Right now the app supports all notifications for SMS, but if you would like to preview notifications across the entire device you may download a developer key available on the play store. It will unlock all other notifications (including ongoing and button control!) from the device and will help continue development from my end to give you new features to make our device more useful. A preview of these notifications below:
Install Developer Key*
*The developer key only needs to be installed on the phone

Great app! Is it normal that an ongoing notification will cause my watch to vibrate every few minutes? I would prefer that it only notifies me when it pops up initially. I'd also love to see an option to set this app as a lock screen. Thanks and keep up the awesome work!

GoogleLocationManagerService
GoogleLocationService
Full Service Name:
com.google.android.location.internal.GoogleLocationManagerService
com.google.android.location.internal.server.GoogleLocationService
My Idle drain which was around 20-30 even with Wifi Data etc off was down to single digits with Wifi and data ON.
Other things I've tried and failed :
Deny Wake Up and Keep Awake permissions to GPS.
Greenify GPS , this only works for a short while but as soon as GPS is back online battery drain also comes back.
Get servicely to kill GPS.
Uninstall and reinstall GPS from play store.
Clear GPS data.
And a few more that I can't remember.
WARNING :
THIS WILL ESSENTIALLY BREAK LOCATION SERVICES.
If you don't use location, well and good.
If you do, you'll have to re enable these two services every time you want to use Maps or any app that uses location.
I use Tasker to re enable them whenever the app launches.
I've attached two apps for enabling and disabling these two services, you can use them as shortcuts whenever you want to enable or disable the two services.
Also attached xml files of the tasks that you can import into tasker. Profile condition should be whatever apps that use location when launched. Use Enable service task as enter task and disable task as exit task.
Minor bug I noticed with Google Maps, enable the two services and turn on Location then launch app, but it won't show you your location sometimes, exit app clear it from recents launch again to get it working.
Thank you for this fix, the issue was driving me nuts. Every other fix I've tried turned out to be only temporary, but after following your instructions the drain seems to be gone for good.
Thank You and Queries
This has helped the most of all the "Fixes" I have tried. Makes a very drastic difference. It's appalling that Google or it's Dependants would wan't to know your Location at such great cost to battery-life. It would have been great if switching the Location On and Off switch in Settings automatically Enabled and Disabled these services for the user.
Any particular reason why your Application has to keep monitoring in the background? Both Enable and Disable keep running for me. Couldn't they exit after they are done?
Thank You in any case for your work.

PSA: I recently disabled google location history and the drain seems to have lowered to 10mAh, without having to disable those two services.
Just thought others could try the same and see if it helps.
Enable location, then turn off location history.
Google settings - Personal info & privacy - Activity controls - Location history.
I kept location on for a day in battery saving mode then turned it off.

The drain was definitely there even with Location History off before I disabled the services. Perhaps they fixed the issue with a GPS update? Although everything I know about Google tells me that's highly unlikely.

I don't know if Google has fixed it, but I saw lower drain recently.
Not as low as with the services disabled but still acceptable.
Have you ever used the privacy guard to deny these services ??

I have and it doesn't work anymore with the recent play services update. What a shame, it used to be such an easy fix! I'll try the methods OP stated and see how it goes. Play services have been plaguing me for far too long!
@venky716
You are my hero!!!
After all the romours what actually cause the battery drain by google play service, thats the real reason!
With the privacy guard fix sometimes there was less battery drain, sometimes it was more, but with this fix my phone almost not losing battery in standby at all! And with Tasker its so easy and I don't have any problems with google maps or here maps.
Thanks alot!!!
Why not just turn off location until you need to use it? Isn't this just doing the same thing just a lot more clicks and time involved?
? Good Luck and GOD BLESS!! ?
Yeah, you should think it would be so easy
Without turning off this services you will still have this battery drain. Maybe Google is still checking your location even if you turn it off or its just that play services wakes up the phone only to find out that there is no location to check.
So if I want to use maps with gps, will this fix affect me?

I keep location disabled at all times but found that this service was still active all the time and disabling it immediately brought down the idle drain.

Yes it will, with the services disabled you won't be able to use maps.
In order to use maps you'll have to re-enable the service, either by tasker or desktop widget shortcuts provided in the OP, before using maps.
Read the OP again carefully [emoji14]
Especially the last part about maps.

Sorry I asked the wrong question. I meant if I use the phone's gps for offline navigation apps like Viago or navmii.

Year it has solved for me. Cm12.1 with ak kernel.
Within the past few days I've noticed that me x727's battery has been draining quite a bit faster. Always at the top of the list in battery stats is System Service. I always have location services and Bluetooth disabled. Has anyone had a similar issue and figured out the exact cause?
edit: I just came across this post from someone else who has Mint SIM and they suggested entering the APN values manually instead of using what the network gives your phone automatically. https://community.zteusa.com/thread/13643#74674. So far it seems like phone is holding a data connection immediately after Wi-Fi disconnect, but time will tell how battery life will be.
edit 2: manually setting the apn values using what Mint Sim provides on their website has completely foxed the issue! My battery life is back to normal and my data connection holds normally again.
I have this exact same problem, but with location services on. Also, I had Android OS draining the battery. I don't know what is causing these issues. Hope someone can find the problem.
Habe also problems with System Services

Swipe away settings on recents
After one month without reboot or switch off the phone also i had the same problem: reboot the phone twice helped me.
Same issue here, System Service is about 50-70% of values of screen (e.g. if screen is 40%, System Service is 20-28%)
A reboot or swiping away settings don't seem to help for me.
Same here. I did rebooting the phone twice and swipe away settings does not seem to help, too.
- So enable background resource control if you disabled it before via *#46360000#*#*
- Limit the apps (particularly LeEco apps) running on start-up via Permissions setting
- Limit the apps showing notifications via Notification management

Disabling the background resource control cause the System service and Android OS to ramp up? I disable it, because of notification issues with gmail, whatsapp, hangout, and outlook mail. Notification only works when I open the app. Other than that, notification never works.

Really? Did you change any setting in the phone manager app or something like power saving management, auto launch, align wakeup, etc? Or you leave everything alone as default? I had this issue since 19s. Lol. I might be missing something.

I made sure the apps that send notification will auto-launch (Permissions menu) and they can notify (Notifications Management menu) and Important Notice star enabled as well. Google sync should be enabled under Account Management and some apps like Gmail have Sync options that should be enabled as well.
Align Wakeup and Ultra Long Standby both disabled and mine is running stock 21S.
And oh notifications are also coming thru my Gear Fit2 for convenience. =D

Thanks for the help. I recently change the setting and will test it for a couple of days.
Edit: I test the notification after making some changes on what you did. The notification works, but it's 15 minute delay. It's not an instant. Is this normal?

Its common issue if you browse various forums, many users with many different devices has this issue. Ofcourse google could optimise system better, but 90% of times its due to user configuration/buggy apps. First thing i would do is turn off backup under settings and location history.

It does seem to be a common issue from what i've found in my own research, however the issue seems to have gotten a lot worse on my device in the past few weeks for an unknown reason.

I can guarantee you its your configuration fault. Its either buggy app, a buggy app or data restore, or buggy system service not letting device sleep properly. As i said earlier, i would start by disabling backup under settings, also location history reporting. Thats 2 things known to cause these problems. If that doesnt help would start looking into apps, 1 by 1. Safest way is to just clean flash or factory reset, then turn off backup and location history, and before installing any app or backup, i am 100% sure, the phone will sleep as a baby. Then start installing apps and look for culprit if its there.
I can confirm, that disabling location service (and location history) is a solution for battery draining. When I disable it in system settings, problem gone.
I prefer the stock Google Phone dialer over all others. I tried to install several different .APK from the website with all the Google Phone downloads. But none of them would install or work.
I've been running Google Dialer with LG G6 for a couple of weeks... here's what I did...
1. Install the APK from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-google-dialer-t3557412
2. After installation, go into Settings, General, Phone Management, Apps.
3. Click the three dots menu and select Configure Apps.
4. Select Phone App, and change that over to the Phone with the blue background (the alternative is LG's Contacts) and click OK.
5. Click on the Special Access at the bottom of that screen. Select Modify System Settings and find the Phone app. Grant it rights to modify system settings.
6. I like to explicitly grant the phone app permissions now, rather than waiting for it later. So I granted all permissions up-front. Back out to the Apps screen and find the Phone app. Click permissions and flip the slider to the right to enable all permissions.
7. Launch the phone app and sign-in to your google account.
You may want to swap out the phone on the lock-screen and launcher as well...

I have not been able to swap out the phone shortcut on the lockscreen unfortunately. It seems the stock phone app is a default that can't be changed.
Thanks for the guide by the way. The stock phone app was aweful. Any way to get the Google contacts app too?

I installed google contact from APKMirror and it works like a charm…
I tried the same with google dialier, but it disappeared after being called once ! Will try again.

I have the APKMirror install of Google Dialer working just fine. Didn't run into the issue with dialer disappearing. However, I installed the Dialer from the XDA Forum that I referred to in a previous post.

I was able to swap out the phone by going to Settings, Display, Lock Screen, Shortcuts. From there tap on the phone icon (defaults to the far left) and an app list pops up. You need to select the "Phone" app with the blue icon - the green one is the LG-native phone app.
Thanks for the quick guide , it worked great. Finding it slightly sluggish for some reason though
The lock screen shortcut option only appears if you disable screen pin/fingerprint
Thanks, works great!
I am unable to change that default phone shortcut on the lockscreen no matter what I do.
I've always used Google Dialer v3.xxxx rc4 (forget the exact version but it's 3.something rc4), which is the latest version that is able to properly look up phone numbers of places by name on all my non-Nexus/Pixel devices

Hey Gewecht what colour is your in call back ground? I have a LG G6 I get a quick flash of the nice Google blue then it turns a not so nice Turquoise green.
I tried the work around in the Google Dialer main post but no luck as the G6 has no option to change the sim back ground colour. I'm guessing the only way is to disable the stock phone app which the option is greyed out!!
Cheers.

You go to the Settings app, go to Display settings, tap on App Scaling, find the app (it would be in 16:7.9 aspect ration) and tap it, and thusly make it a forced 18:9 aspect ratio. After this, your application should be formatted to support the LG G6's 18:9 display. Trust me, I had to do this with Lawnchair Launcher and a Pixel 2 Launcher (mod) in order to get it to all fit. I hope this helps you ??.
